They say you can watch but never open the window i feel like kids thrive off of approval and encouragement, and if not that then they need to invest in updated technology like cameras and a Tv, sucks to have them as the only option in laveen area

When my oldest daughter was 2 1/5 years old, I thought it would be “cute and fun” to try a free dance class. Little did I know that 7 years later, my daughter would establish life long friendships all while developing a passion and drive for the art of dance. I have 3 daughters (ages 2, 5 and 9) who all take classes at TDW. Offering professional, high quality instruction, there is a class suitable for every age and every level. Whether you are looking to dance recreationally or competitively, you will always be treated like family!!

My daughter has been dancing at Tempe Dance West for almost 2 years where she has grown tremendously as a dancer. The staff at TDW is extremely supportive and is passionate about the art of dance. The owner Michael Cook shows so much love to his students as well as their parents. All the teachers are knowledgeable and encouraging! My daughter’s confidence is at its highest and the staff at Tempe Dance West have definitely played a large part in that. We are grateful for our TDW family.

I highly recommend this studio. We love Tempe Dance West! My daughter has danced at TDW for the past 4 years and TDW has become our second home. She started out taking ballet classes a now she is in her 3rd year on the company dance team. My daughter and I has made lifelong friends. We also love the staff! They have become more like family. The staff really cares about their students. I have seen so much growth in my little dancer over the years and I owe all of her achievements to her awesome teachers, especially Michael Cook and Paige Heinley. If you are looking for a studio with professionals who teach quality dance, emphasizes technique and offers competitive dance opportunities then Tempe Dance West is perfect for you.

I enrolled both of my daughters in the Tuesday night hip hop class with Bella as the instructor. They were three classes in to the first month and after the class one of my daughters got in to my vehicle and began to cry and proceeded to tell me that she was never going back again. I asked her why and she explained that Bella the instructor humiliated her in front of the whole class, which included her sister, because Bella was frustrated that my daughter could not do the pushups as fast as the other girls and halted the class and told the class that they would all stand there and watch my daughter finish the pushups before they could proceed with the dance class not a boot camp class, that we paid for. My daughter had never taken a dance class before and furthermore, not everyones ability to do pushups is the same. I paid to have my daughter learn hip hop and not to do 10 perfect pushups in a row. My daughter struggled physically and on top of that emotionally at that point. I could totally see that happening perhaps in a coach/participant setting when you actually try out for a team in a competitive setting. I immediately called and spoke to Martha who was very apologetic and empathetic and agreed that the humiliation treatment was never condoned, acceptable nor tolerated. She also told me that she would speak to Bella and perhaps have us sit down together to resolve the issue and at very least have Bella apologize to my daughter for making her feel that way. Im sure Martha meant well, but here we are 3 weeks later and no return phone call and definately no apology. I decided to call Martha back and she apologized that no one had called us back. She also said she spoke to Bella and basically they minimized my daughters feelings in all of this and allowed Bella to get away with this kind of teaching method . I was never offered my tuition back but that doesnt surprise me since we didnt get a return phone call, much less an apology. I am all for teaching my girls respect on every level, but it has to work both ways. So unless you want to take the chance of having your child humilated in front of the whole class for not being able to do aproper pushup in a timely manner when theyre there to learn to dance and have fun, I would stay clear of this place.

While I appreciate everyone has an opinion, Mr. Cooks insinuation on the above comment that he was refunding my family anything because My wife is rude disruptive and make others feel uncomfortable is baseless she was only ever in studio one time and spoke directly with Mr Cook about her issues.Regarding the comments about photos being “illegally taken” or “against company policy” this is the first I am hearing of this. In fact, the dance instructor encouraged us to video the kids so they can practice their dance at home. Furthermore, the one time I did take my daughter I did take a video of her and in my video, it shows another guest taking a picture. Is this “Rule” nonexistent, not enforced and/or is used when it benefits them such as now? I have provided stills of the video showing the photos being taken and MY DAUGHTER is CLEARLY in the screen of this stranger’s phone (does my daughter not matter?) I am happy to send entire video for proof. I feel as if this statement is a baseless attack as the photos I took show his instructor sitting down during class and in an unflattering light. I first sent the photos to Mr. Cook November 1 2017 and he responded via email and never mentioned anything about policy of photos, no mention of please don’t take photos or that this was a rule further justifying my feelings he is launching baseless attacks against me.Lastly in-regards to his statement of “No Refunds” Mr. Cook openly offered me a refund! In an email exchange that took place 11.1.2017 Mr. Cook said verbatim “Please let me know what you would like me to do. I can refund your money if you so choose.” To which I responded “Apart from the money already wrongfully charged and this month’s tuition in full, I would also like a refund for the recital outfit we will not be using. I am happy to return it this weekend once all the refunds have been processed.” He then proceeded to respond saying “Thank you for your email. I will mail you a check, we do not need the costume back.” Never once saying there is no refunds or no refund would be provided but insinuating that what I told him would make me happy would be honored.Again, I would like to state I have been more the fair and patient. On October 25th Mr. Cook said he returned the $10.00 to my bank account and on November 2nd he said he is sending a check for it, neither of which I have received, so which is it? I have reached out to him directly every time there was an issue and have given him every opportunity to make it right. I called him on multiple occasions and never once could get in touch with him. I have attached my phone records as proof as Mr. Cook keeps throwing around false and inaccurate information I feel I have too, yet he never called me though he said he would (again proof attached via email).Looking through our email exchange you can see there was never any name calling or issues brought up by Mr. Cook until I contacted the BBB for help. While I do understand, mistakes happen and I feel I have done everything within reason to get this resolved Mr Cook’s company is in the wrong here. His company took money from me. While I appreciate, it was in error the way Mr Cook is treating me and the run around is not ok. At this point I am not willing to settle for $130.00 (how did he even come up with this amount?) and will not accept this partial payment. As it is now Monday the 13th – 21 days since the first fraudulent charge and nearly 2 weeks since the second I am asking for the $5.00 interest and inconvenient fee being prorated back to October 24th 2017 be added to the $150.00 I am still owed. Also, I feel Mr. Cook owes me apology at this point.Mr. Cook continues to lie. Please tune into your local news stations

Signed my daughter up and paid in full for her costume, practice outfit and shoes that we were told would be in the following week. Flash forward 3 weeks and they are still not in and it takes getting upset for something to be done. I asked for compensation for the hassle and some guy (later found out was the owner) said he will see while sitting in another room on his computer. Flash forward ten minutes i am in the dance area watching my daughter and receive and email saying i would be credited for the hassle. I am 15 feet away from you and am having a bad experience with YOUR COMPANY and you email me from the other room. Fast forward again a couple weeks and checking my bank account i notice a $10.00 charge from their studio. I repeatedly call and email asking for an explanation. They explain its for a costume deposit, but why? I already paid for the costume in full. They say error oh there part it will be refunded a week later i get a billing statement for $45.00 fifteen minutes later they charge me $65.00, here i am calling and emailing again. My daughter last dance class was 11.1.17 where my mother in law was less then Thrilled and relayed her concerns to me. We are now 3weeks past first fraudulent charges and no refund and more troublesome issues keep arriving so Michael the owner and I️ agree it’s best if i remove my daughter and be refunded via check from his company. It is now a week after this exchange and no refund despite countless follow up on my end. I would not recommend Tempe Dance West as it is more of a hassle then it is worth.I have contact the BBB, 3 on your side as well as the Arizona Attorney Generals office and have submitted all email correspondence where Mr Cook said he would issue a refund, phone records showing I have called and called for resolution and my bank statements showing their fraudulent chargesUpdate: I file a complaint with the BBB where the owner Michael Cook says the check was mailed out on the 7th. (Mind you the BBB has you acknowledge that the facts you are presenting are in fact truthful.) i received a partial check payment today 22days after the first wrong charge that was dated for the 9th (how is a check written two days after it’s mailed) and postmarked from the post office for the 13th - yesterday (which makes sense with the holiday if it was written on the 9th). So either he blatantly lied to the BBB knowing he didn’t send the check or post dated a check either of which are illegal and bad business practice. I am not accepting this partial payment and plan on taking this all the way to the news and judge judy if i have too but seriously please share! It’s Michael Cook the OWNER of Tempe Dance West
