Welcome Diner sits on a subtle neighborhood corner like a perched rare bird glowing in the night. You’ll feel like you’re in an oasis. Maybe it’s the cooling mist that sprays from the trees or maybe it’s the staff! Visit here and experience a well run establishment. These folks know what they are doing. Clean, friendly, splendid services. No frills here, the persistent high quality food plus cocktails will bring you back. I find myself ordering foods I normally would not eat. The music is always soft in background and you won’t find higher quality food late into the night that Welcome Diner. It’s hard to say goodbye.

Cozy spot inside the pierce neighborhood. If you like a good ole fashion diner style food with and updated atmosphere, then you should totally check this place out! Their patio is adequately shaded and has enough seating for the lunch rush. The food is solid diner food, I had the No Way Jose burger double patty and it was fantastic. Their ranch is also homemade if you like that kind of stuff. You can tell the food is reach and made in house, especially the French fries. I loved to visit their previous location on Roosevelt and I can see why they had to expand! Fun neighborhood joint I highly recommend checking out. Also, they have a full bar with lots of good drink options!

The place is very nice; fairly quiet and plenty of outdoors seating. The staff and the service were very good, the food came out relatively quick and every thing was reasonably priced. However the food was just average. We ordered hot dogs and they were good but nothing special. I really wanted to love them but the only thing that stood out were the French fries on the side. I would probably go back to try something else. With so many great restaurants in the area its hard to recommend Welcome Diner.

This was the first time I had ever been to this place and I was very impressed. Food and staff were great, social distancing and safety measures in effect. We went with a group of friends so we got to see a little of everything off the menu. There isnt a kids menu but my 2yr old son had the grilled cheese sandwich with fries and we all had a bite and loved it. I had the Chicken Fried Steak with gravy, biscuits, potatoes and eggs and I will say its a pretty hearty meal. The Mac and Cheese looked great and the person eating confirmed its deliciousness. They have great drinks, I enjoyed a Bloody Maria (Bloody Mary with Tequila) and that was great! I will definitely be coming back to try different menu items

Good burger overall. My friend had a double with extra cheese and fries. I had the same with side salad. The patties could have been seasoned better. Cheese had good melt, BUT the patties weren’t piping hot the way I like. I’ve had Niman Ranch beef many times. The beef didn’t taste like Niman ranch beef I’ve had in the past. Almost seemed like a frozen patty. Side salad and dressing were great. The fries were not hot and fresh. 3 tarts for dessert. The lemon and cherry tart were good. The chocolate pecan tart was so-so. It didn’t have enough chocolate flavor for a chocolate lover.

I love the new location. Somewhat of a throwback to the original Welcome Diner on 9th street. The food was amazing and the service was fast. I had the waffle and chicken biscuit. Biscuit was warm and chicken was crispy. Great combo. As for the website, I was a little disappointed not seeing a picture of the original Welcome Diner. I feel the older setup with the smaller venue and large yard had a lot to do with its energy. The food was always amazing. On the current website, there is no mention of the original structure other than it being in a 200 square foot space. For someone who has been going there for over a decade, I would have liked to have seen some acknowledgement to the original diner, or at least a picture. I have personally witnessed so many great times there.

Top drawer staff and reliably hearty and delicious plates. Bumblebee Chix on biscuit... Oh so good. BLAT was excellent. My only possible knock is the light serving of gravy/cheese curds on the poutine, but the plate is huge with a plethora of fries as it is, so get it if you have 3 friends with you. Otherwise, for the uninitiated or couple, just order your main dish and upgrade the side to the half order of poutine and youll be just as happy.Great patio, misters in the trees, good tunes. Lots of bike parking. Will for sure come back.

Super cozy diner. Its small and doesnt have much of a street presence so its fairly easy to miss if you arent paying attention. The diner is a classic boxcar that stays true to its roots. The outdoor seating area looks quite enjoyable for a late-night snack, though Im not sure if they are open that late. Gotta love the outdoor ordering window. Youre best inside is if you can catch a seat at the corner of the counter. You not only get a great view of the chef doing the cooking but have a nice fat fan behind you to cool you off.

We just flew in from Texas and driving to Williams, Arizona. My husband found this very hip, cool local diner. There is a little something for everyone. Burgers, gourmet hot dogs, homemade chips, homemade fries, awesome appetizers, vegan and vegetarian options. Breakfast all day, not to mention, The Best French Omlett and awesome brunch options on the menu, served on Friday and Saturday only. We purchased a Latte with oatmilk. The espresso was smooth and had the best flavor. The prickly pear lemonade was liked by my mom. We enjoyed The Animal Burger, Chicken sandwich with homemade chips, homemade French fries and the brunch special French Omlett. We finished off our lunch with homemade cherry pie and a raspberry mini pie. If your visiting or live in the area and looking for a new place, this is the perfect spot. The inside decor is eclectic and fun. The outside seating area is perfect for a brunch, lunch and enjoying after work drinks with friends.

1st time at this eatery.... the food was well seasoned, tasty and hot. The beverages although they lacked sugar werent bad, Im referring to the lemonade and tea. This was outside seating and there was plenty of it, as well as inside seating. The servers were friendly, informative and helpful, in explaining the ingredients in the particular meal choices. The bonus was that the price was reasonable. The only draw back was standing in line to order without the benefit of a menu prior to reaching the window to place order. Having a menu in advance would probably have sped up this process. I recommend this eatery.

The name Welcome Diner is ironic actually because we don’t really feel welcome. We went there for dinner. First time there. We asked for a table and we were led to a table for 5 and given menus. They brought us cutlery and napkins and a pitcher of water with 5 cups. None of it was poured for us. We sat for awhile and eventually started wondering if anyone would come take our order. I finally asked someone and then was told we had to order at the front where we walked in. No one told us that. So I ordered for everyone at my table and asked the guy how the bill worked and he said he would split it all up for us at the end. Cool. Got the food.. food was good except my friend asked for her burger well done but that didn’t happen. Once we were ready to pay I had to get up and go ask the guy about the bill and he said that we pay at the same place where we ordered. WHY I DIDNT PAY AT THE SAME TIME I ORDERED I HAVE NO IDEA but this was super annoying and inefficient. Giving 2 stars cuz service is a big deal to me and these guys just didn’t seem to have it.

The food is amazing (best fried chicken biscuit Ive had to date!). The cocktails are amazing. Worth a stop! This is such a fun diner, the cool Phoenix nights with a cold cocktail and food is such a great experience! The servers and staff were all great, our first chicken biscuit sandwich was undercooked when I cut it in half but I took it back inside and they made me a new one without any questions and were really quick about it. The outdoor seating area is a must. The salad was delicious, gumbo was spicy and tasty, the mac and cheese was amazing. I would go back and back and again if I lived in town! First friday on roosevelt is a short walk down the road if you want to cocktail and then shop!

This restaurant is placed smack dab in the middle of some sketchy neighborhood. This was a little off putting, but we went in anyway. We were seated inside and given a pitcher of water and two plastic cups that couldve been a part of a childrens playset. The woman that dropped the pitcher off (Id call her the waitress but she certainly wasnt) informed us that we would be getting up from our table and ordering our food at the host stand. We were trying to talk at the table, but couldnt hear each other over the incredibly obnoxious music. It was loud, and it was horrible. Once wed ordered, our meal for 2 came out to $48.10. My boyfriend ordered a coke which came out in a bottle, and I ordered an Arnold palmer, which came out in a jar not much bigger than the plastic cups. It was truly revolting. That was without a doubt the worst Arnold Palmer Id ever had. They had to have used salt in place of lemon juice. Heres where it gets a little better, the food came out in 5 minutes. The Mac and cheese warmed my soul, and the poutine was impossible to stop eating. Josh ordered and thoroughly enjoyed the cheese steak which came with chips (that I snagged a few of) and a pickle. Was the food good? Absolutely. Was it worth the price? Probably not. I eventually got so tired of the music we left a little earlier than normal. 4/10

Fun vibe and lots of originality and charm. The food is almost really good. The chicken biscuits are delicious but would work better as a platter than a sandwich - too much bread and the biscuit is too dry. Great mac and cheese. Desserts are fine but not that special. Cornbread is different but not so much in a good way. Fun attempt. Mixed execution.

I arrived in Phoenix late on May 11, from Pittsburgh, went to this restaurant --open!--the food was great, except they served old coffee--unwilling to make a fresh pot, but the old coffee was hot, probably nuked. The service was questionable, but this must be weighed against the lateness of the hour. All in all it was a wonderful experience, water misters, cozy location, cozy ambience, friendly cashier--because it was late, had to order outside and pay upfront, but they brought the food to you. So, the food was quite good. Putine, the fried green tomato appetizer, chicken biscuit, and Chicago were all good and delivered on flavor, if not a bit overpriced. But the music was so bad and so loud that it was worth losing a star. When they got to the part of a song where the singer was deliberately off key and yelling they turned it up EVEN MORE, and the lady who worked the register was a little off putting. The atmosphere was not our favorite. I think we are not hip enough for this place to be a good fit.

What a wonderful place! If you like southern staples with some amazing flare, you have to try the Welcome Diner! The fried green tomatoes are very good, the pimento cheese is on point and the hurricane cocktail while not traditional is still very good. Their ordering process is quite odd especially during sweltering summer months, but the quality of the food makes you forget the ordering pretty quickly. We had the Bumble Bee chicken biscuit, the fried green tomato sandwich and a BLAT sandwich. All those choices were very good! For sides we each chose a different half order of the smothered fries. The chili fries are incredible, they pack a decent amount of spice and are so hearty, they would make a meal on their own. I had the poutine fries and they were my favorite of the three. Most traditional poutine has a brown gravy, but these had a delicious country sausage gravy. Not nearly as dense and filling as the chili fries and the flavor is absolutely enticing. Our other smothered fry choice were the jackfruit fries. While they were very good, with our group they came in third. Unfortunately we were too full and satisfied to try any desserts, hopefully next time!

I arrived from a late night to Phoenix and went directly to the Welcome Diner. Its a nice restaurant, the waitress was sure to clarify theyre not quite a diner. The bright pink and teal neon lights add a nice, old-fashioned glow to the entrance. I ordered the jambalaya that was recommended by the waitress. It was a nice jambalaya with big pieces of seafood. I did get to try the fried green tomato sandwich and immediately regretted the jambalaya. The fried green tomatoes were cooked perfectly and the bread was great.
