A nice place to have fun interacting with cats and kittens. Cats and kittens change frequently as they are adopted. Good for them. Martin the black cat was exceptionally friendly.

This is an awesome place where you can hang out with kitties who are looking for forever homes.

A good-sized room with lots of toys and trees to give all the cats their space to snooze or play, as they desire. I went when appointments didnt allow walk-ins, so it was just me in the room with all of the cats. It gave me such a special visit with lots of quality time with each of the cats. Still, with the size of the play room I imagine things will still be a blast if I visit again.The retail space has lots of adorable cat-themed merch, cat toys/accessories, and even some original art pieces! I also love the photos they have on display of all the cats that have gone to their forever homes. 💖Parking is convenient, too!

An amazing mission, all the employees are wonderful, and the cats are very well cared for. Definitely worth the money even to just to hang out and play with cats for half an hour! My girlfriend and I come here often and well definitely be back. The new location is also really nice. Much roomier and better looking.

$5 for 30 minutes with some of the coolest cats in Pittsburgh? SIGN ME UP!! The only thing that could make this place better would be to have hot espresso/coffee, but I didn’t even care about any of that once I got into the cat room. Super cool place!

Visited today, staff was super nice and so were the kitties! There was hand sanitizer available, masks were worn, and there are half hour appointment slots in order to space out groups. I felt safe here and Im sure Ill be back soon!

My partner and I adopted a cat out of Black Cat Market recently. they were so helpful about filling us in on his background, making sure he would be a good fit in our home, and helping us communicate with their rescue organization that they partner with. he had recently had a dental procedure to remove several damaged teeth and they were sweet enough to send us home with special treats that he could eat while he continued his healing with us. they were so helpful, kind, and put the cats first - which as a organization working with animals, you love to see! they also take covid regulations seriously which is also something I really appreciated. cant recommend them enough!

The Black Cat Market is my favorite place to visit when I’m in Pittsburgh! The owners are so kind and welcoming. The cats are all well taken care of and obviously loved very much. We adopted our little Ariana from here and we love her so much! The Black Cat Market is the absolute best cat café! ❤️

My only complaint is that they didn’t let me scoop up all of the kitties and drive off with them into the sunset. The staff is super knowledgeable and cares a LOT about the cats, and the cats are, of course, adorable.

As a coffee drinker and cat lover, this place is paradise. Before COVID in their Butler St. location they had a pot of regular coffee and hot water for tea, but primarily canned coffee beverages. It wasnt the craft coffee I preferred that you would see at Colony Cat Cafe before their unfortunate closing. However, being conservative with their funds has seemed to pay off and I am excited to see how they expand in their new location. In their old location they were near enough other restaurants that it wasnt a problem to not have food- the focus was the cats, and they loved their cats. The staff has always been friendly, obviously mindful of each cat the keep, and kept the room in good order despite the regular flow of people and playful kittens. Its a reflection of the agency they partner with as well, but I had the pleasure of adopting a kitten from them. She was healthy, the application process and pick-up was seamless. Im happy to support their new chapter and excited to witness their growth.

My partner and I recently visited while we were looking for a cat to adopt and we LOVED it. We couldn’t believe how quickly the 30 minutes went by.

We visited the new Black Cat Market space on Penn Ave in early November and had THE BEST TIME! Staff was friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed our time with the cats. What a fun way to spend some time and I cannot wait to go back.

I am so proud of the fine folks who run the Black Cat Market! Although the cafe recently moved from Lawrenceville to Garfield, the folks at Black Cat market have made sure to make their new space feel welcoming and covid-safe. Its easy to make and change an appointment to visit the kitties, and you get an entire room of cute, playful cats to yourself! The staff is sweet, communicative, and they obviously adore their cats. It makes it easy for you to fall in love and take a little fuzzy creature home. Thanks to Indigo and Bear, I met, adopted, and took home a new cat within 24 hours. They even lent me a carrier so I could take my new best friend home on short notice! All hail Black Cat Market!

Black Cat is one of my favorite small businesses in Pittsburgh. The owners put so much into the space starting with real love and care for every cat, and expanding to love and dedication to the community. Starting in their previous location in Lawrenceville, they exhibited local artists especially those in the LGBTQIA+ community, held readings for survivors of sexual abuse, and collaborated with other small businesses and vendors to put on really beautiful, welcoming, and safe for all events. In their new location in Garfield, they finally get to level up to their goal of serving fresh coffee and espresso, making the experience that much better. I love visiting this business. Cuddling with the cats can always make me feel better, and I appreciate the owners commitment both to their business and to the community around them.

Great place to visit and adopt cats. It’s only $5 and you get plenty of time to interact with the cats. They have alternating art on the wall from local artist and really cute small cat themed gifts you can buy. The owners seem to really want to help the community.

I love black cat! I already have 3 kitties of my own, but I love visiting with the kitties there. The owners are also so sweet and really care about the pets. Also great for kids!

I don’t think they know how to clean out the litter boxes nor care for all of the cats. I had to the employee there that the one cat’s eye was red and both eyes were watering 😒😒

The staff are super welcoming here. It’s $5 to play with the very sweet and adoptable cats for half an hour, but you can also pay 2.50 for 15 min. I just wouldn’t call this a “coffee shop” - they have only one or two options for cold brews. Worth a visit if you’re thinking of adopting or just like cats.

Very friendly and helpful staff that deserve higher than my rating but Ive never seen an owner while visiting and the cafe seems to be held together by the committee they put together. What is keeping them away from the business when there shouldnt be other activities going on during covid?

Let me start by saying I fully support their mission. I hope they remain open and I hope they continue to rescue cats.I cannot patronize this place with a clear conscience. I used to go to the Colony Cat Cafe before it closed and I remember when the Black Cat Market first opened, the Black Cat owners had their friends write fake negative reviews on the Colony Cat webpage. That says a lot about the ethics of the owners and I cannot help but wonder as they get older, if they will look back and be proud of those actions; it sullies the cause. It speaks volumes about the kind of people they are.

Family enjoyed the visit and playing with kitties. We appreciate the opportunity to support ankmsl rescue and humane treatment of animals. The hostess was super friendly and empathetic to the kids who visited. It was a cool respite on a crazy hot day. Hope they are able to expand to include an espresso bar but would understand if it doesnt happen as the mission is most important. Keep up the great work!

Had a really cool experience there. The place had a pretty cool vibe and the person behind the counter was really nice. They didnt have an actual menu with coffee made there. However it was really fun playing in the cat room with the cats and I think that they are supporting something amazing! I cant wait for them to get a full working coffee bar in cause thatll make it even better!

Fun cats and friendly staff. Worth the small fee to play with the cats, and if you like them, you can adopt them too! I take a star away only because I would not classify this place as a coffee shop since theres not much space to sit, and the coffee they serve is bottled.

I love this place!!! They get such wonderful cats and it feels good supporting a local business. They get all their cats from Frankies, which is a cat adoption group in the area and I love you can adopt the cats there. I think its a great way to meet cats if you are looking to adopt or a lovely break from day to day stress. Either way, I think everyone needs to go and pet some darling cats.

Had my first visit today and absolutely loved it. My friend and I try and meet up once a month to catch up and this was such a cool addition to our usual lunch. The store was cozy and the cats were living their best life in a room full of toys and love. The woman working was very friendly and easy to talk to and even recommended places for us to eat nearby. Definitely going back and highly recommend checking it out !

Today was my first time visiting, and it was exactly what I was hoping it would be! My friend and I made a reservation on their website. We showed up a little early and got to have some extra time with the cats because no one was currently in with them. The owners are very friendly, and caring. Plus, they sell cute cat toys and bowls and such. I highly recommend it!

For a small business just starting out, its incredible. Love the idea of getting to enjoy some coffee and a treat, then going to pet some cats. So relaxing and the owners are very kind. Ill definitely be coming back, and hopefully will be adopting one of the kitties one day!

I love this place! The people who work here are so sweet and the cats are adorable. I love to keep up with them on Instagram and watch all the cats get adopted. They just started hosting events as well, so I love the community feel! Would definitely recommend.

This is a great little cafe. The owners are locals and if you chat with them a bit when you visit you can tell theyve put a lot of themselves into this and care a lot about the cats. The kitties themselves are super cute, their room is nice, and the cafe is cozy with good coffee. This is a nice little small business and Id definitely recommend.

Excellent little cafe. You can visit the cats for $4 for 30 minutes. It is a month old as of this posting. Vegan friendly fare. Organic friendly fare too. Coffee, tea and more. I wish them love & light on their new journey.

I decided to surprise my daughter for her birthday, shes been waiting to go here for over a year. We made an appointment and they let other people come on on our time. These people didnt let us play with any of the cats. The lady was really nice but we are very disappointed.

Felt very uncomfortable!!!!!!!!!!! no drinks. absolutely horrible service; did not feel welcomed at all. bad aesthetics. not kid friendly- there are drawing of naked people on the wall that distracted the kids.i took my family here expecting something like the colony café, but it was horrible. the colony café is way better. i don’t know what that person was saying when they said the black cat market was better-not at all. go to colony café!
