Havent been in there in a long while but the last time I was in there the hopeful expression of a little old lady suddenly turned to crud when they offered her 50 cents each for a few records she brought in. I witnessed them offer someone 75 cents for a good playing original Gene Vincent Rockabilly record which Goldmine says is a $300 record. Ive witnessed them make fun of people as soon as they walk out the door and maybe sometimes they dont wait. When I started making money again I would stop in and celebrate by buying records, cds and DVD sets. No more.

Staff are extremely helpful and selection is awesome! The video games range from retro to brand new releases, and the prices are very reasonable for all of them. I was surprised to see so many Nintendo 64 games on the shelf as well.As far as movies….I couldn’t believe how cheap most of the blu rays were. Great selection for these as well.We were able to find quite a few CD’s that are typically harder to find, which is probably due to their great collection of CD’s as well!Overall The Exchange had a really great atmosphere and helpful staff which creates a great shopping experience. Highly recommend stopping in here.

Awesome crew who will search their computer database for records that may not be in the store, and then have them mailed in to said exchange for pickup with a week or so. Very friendly bunch.

If you like games and movies this is the place for you. They have pretty much everything for every console and an absolutely astounding selection of movies and collectibles. Not just that but they have some really reasonable prices for the older items compared to what you would find on eBay or Amazon.

This Exchange is a very neat, clean store run by very kind and helpful people.Many different games, cds, vinyl, movies, posters, and collectors items available for purchase.I will say their trade in rates are pretty pathetic though- even less than GameStop- which is pretty bad.I did discover you can reject the trade in and work with the person with a little give and take on a price, which I didnt know about- and made me feel better about what I received. But I couldnt help but feel like I didnt get anywhere near what I should have for my games I sold.As a buyer, place is great! As a seller- eh- pursue other options.

You can find any record you are looking for here. If they dont have it in the store they can look if they have it at other stores and have it shipped over if you arent able to go get it. They also have cds, tapes, dvds, games, and some consoles as well.

It use to be nice here. Now they do a lot of low-balling. But charge so much for used items. Such a shame

I absolutely love The Exchange. I always buy from there and get great quality. Plus, if you sign up, you get a discount on one purchase during your birthday month! I think its 5 or 10%. They have new stuff too which is nice.The employees are also always helpful and ive never had a bad experience.

The Exchange is a Pittsburgh treasure. Whether you collect toys, games, movies, or vinyl there will be something to tickle your fancy here. I most often frequent the Squirrel Hill location on Forbes Ave, but the cool thing about The Exchange is that there is one location in most Pittsburgh borroughs, and I think some outside of Pittsburgh as well. For this reason the collection is even more massive than it seems when you walk in.It seems like the entire inventory is catalogued so if youre looking for something specific the staff is more than willing to do a quick search. More than once Ive had a specific documentary in mind and they were able to reserve a copy from another location for my convenience. Thats what I call extra effort!! This place is awesome during the holiday season because like I said, theres something for everyone. An ideal place to shop for Secret Santa gifts.Its a fun place to window shop too because the staff is almost always super knowledgeable. Theyre perfectly willing (and excited) to share insight and trivia about their specific interest areas. I learn a lot almost every time. Cant suggest this place enough if you are interested cool collectable items.

Excellent store. TONS of awesome stuff to find. Im a gamer so thats the category that I always flock to, but there is so much else in here too. If youre looking for basically anything gaming, movie, record or collectible wise this is the place to come first. Staff is also extremely polite and super helpful.

I was treated unfairly at this location due to the color of my skin. I told the manager he would be hearing from me in the future he claimed I threatened him . After numerous attempts to speak with a regional manager my request was ignored and told I was BANNED from there property permanently. I wouldn’t recommend any minority’s visiting this location because of bias

Huge selection of movies, music, and video games. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. If something is out of stock or is rare, they can get another store to mail it or special order. Pretty good vinyl collection as well as comics.

This location was good about 5-7yrs ago but now it gets some pretty poor stock these days, surprisingly for its location. Im assuming its because of low balling people on their trades. I dont go to this location because its become a waste of time.

Always enjoy going into The Exchange... Whether it be to look for a specific CD or vintage video game, or just to browse the dollar DVD section or check out three comics, I could spend an hour every time I go in. I love everything about the exchange. Great place to buy and sell all electronics. If your tired of buying a new game for $60 only to sell it for a fraction of the cost. I finally found fair exchange rates at the Exchange!

One of the few places that has a decent selection of movies and music, at mostly reasonable prices. Love that the place is packed basically floor to ceiling with CDs, DVDs and games. Especially the fact that they have old systems and old games almost always in stock.When selling stuff I find theyll give you much better prices than Amazon and other apps or companies that buy media. Staff is always helpful and unless its super busy, available. Theyll also look up stock if youre looking for something in particular, and can order from other locations.

Very convinently located near 2 different parking lots, not to mention all the on street parking areas available. There is a wide selection of movies, games, and records available. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable willing to help out with your questions. I would highly recommend using this location, every time Ive gone there it has been a very good experience.

There are several of these stores in the greater Pittsburgh area and they do have the ability to keep track of what each store has so while you may have to go to another store to get something specific and you should always be as specific as possible when having them look for something you want them to find for you and they do buy and sell old stuff from and to people though prices on buying and or selling depends on inventory

There was actually variety than I had anticipated with a huge selection beyond just music.The database for all Record Exchanges was helpful, when they realized that the location I was at did not have in stock what I was looking for, they searched other locations to find it for me.The guy working the front desk was also helpful in sharing a place online that he frequents to find market value for old records and CDs, and was very well-versed in the genre I was looking to find more information about.PRO-TIP: visit during non-peak hours, and you are very likely to have a conversation with staff beyond locating an item. They were very helpful and knowledgeable.

The entire store is incredibly friendly, varied, nerdy...the music is really really great. Theres a multitude of vinyls beyond I can count, and a thousand more cds, all with great quality. The movies are of every genre. Ill definitely reccomend this store.

I have seen this place go through some very drastic staff changes over the years. Present staff is fun, friendly and attentive. The haughty hipsters of the 2009-12 are gone. I enjoy shopping for media in person, because you never know what you will stumble over. So-called record stores of any sort are hard to find. Such a store with friendly, knowledgeable staff is a treasure. So, if you want to nerd out about Troma films, Firefly, Kid Ory, Bowies Berlin albums, Battleship Potemkin, or just hunt for Tom Waits on vinyl, this might be a good first stop.

Great selection and extremely helpful staff. Theres always new things coming in and locations coordinate for a well-balanced selection of games, collectibles, comics, movies, CDs and records.

The Exchange in Squirrel Hill is an okay place to buy games. My experience is that they do not card you when you buy an m-rated game. i think that should be changed so that you are checked or carded. The staff are friendly enough. The selection is good. But I think you should be allowed to look at the cases without having to ask. Because after a while the staff looked very annoyed after I asked for the fifth time to examine a game. Overall, I think the Exchange is an okay place to shop if you dont mind slightly bad service.

Im super happy to support The Exchange over someplace like GameStop. Good collection of retro games here, like at all their locations. Also a good selection of newer titles. I feel bad for the sales associates cause they get really backed up when theyre busy, but you cant really plan around that as a customer; theyre mostly not busy, so just stop in.

The gave me a playstation 3 power cord and controller in my ps2 bundle pack, I spent 180 dollars and when I tried calling back I couldnt reach anyone because their store has no call waiting. I went back to make a complaint and they didnt care they told me they would switch it out and were quite ignorant about it. I ended up returning everything I bought I ordered online and got it cheaper in better condition

I visited this shop as a South African on a two week vacation in Pittsburgh. The staff were friendly and helpful. They helped me to find the Prince cds I was looking for, a few XBox games for my four-year old daughter as well as a few movies for myself. Kindness goes a long way in my book, and I got exactly that. Great shop with a great environment.

Very unhappy I made a previous review about one of the employees did not put the Xbox in anything protective. My buddy bought it. They gave us the wrong power cord. We just went in today to see if we could switch the cords out. Well they told us we need to bring back the whole console and bundle back in for them to do anything. But they would have just realized they gave us the wrong one and then switch them out. I was not satisfied at all. Terrible customer service. Highly unrecomend. Would give zero stars if possible 😡😡
