I drove by this shop a few months ago when I was in Portland for a visit, but they were not opened at the time. I finally got the opportunity to stop on yesterday and so glad that I did. This place is absolutely stunning in person! The craftsmanship they put in to restore and salvage unique vintage pieces is impeccable! Everything places out on the floor is thought out and pricing is reasonable. Please dont come in here to complain about how expensive it is, considering the amount of work the staff puts in to reclaim each piece. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I am looking forward to returning on my next trip!

Oh my good god is this place amazing! Was visiting Portland for the first time and came across this spot on my last day there. If you are someone who gets excited when you notice intricate old hinges in a house, deliciously lavish lighting, or elegant antique door knobs, this spot will not only have you in awe, but they will definitely have what you need. The folks working that day were so helpful and informative!! I didn’t catch the young woman’s name but she offered a great solution for how to find the right key for my old interior mortise locks (without bringing them in since I live out of state). Her solution worked and I definitely did a happy dance. Having beautiful old door knobs is one of the delightful details that drew me to my home, but actually having control of the locks just feels so dang fancy!! Thanks so much!!

I always love coming here. The place is like a museum only you get to buy the awesome things! Mostly what they have is pre war industrial antiques and house hardware. Plus lots of random things things that I wouldnt even know how to classify. Just come and find out for yourself!

Wow. Beautiful items, but so overpriced. Thought maybe geared towards California-types gentrifying NW neighborhoods. Loved the covid-19 protocols! Staff was extremely helpful & friendly. I imagine the 2 pieces that I picked up for $400.00 (for both) would easily be $600.00- $800.00 there.

Really huge, cool antique shop in Sellwood! They have a small parking lot which is nice. I love old tools, clocks, appliances, e.t.c. so wandering through this beautiful space was a treat! It is very clean, well organized and well lit which isnt always the case for some big antique dealers.

Very cool vintage hardware. Well organized. When buying vintage hardware at other places, like garage sales and swap meets, people think they should get that stuff for pennies. I would agree and good luck with that, but when shopping here, you can see they have a staff that refurbishes and organizes everything. Expect to pay more and spend your time finding a lot of great stuff here.

Fantastic curation of exquisite artifacts - things that actually deserve that moniker. No piles of estate sale clutter here - everything is unique, carefully selected, or refurbished exquisitely. Youll pay extra for the quality, but youll find nothing else like the stuff here. Weve purchased heirloom tools, interesting building materials, and more from here.

I needed to replace a broken glass door knob from my 100 year old house. I had gone to another store that would’ve charged me a lot to replace it using brand new parts. The person at Portland antiques found a very close replacement of the same period and spent time taking apart the old hardware and explaining how to install the new pieces. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. And the price was very reasonable. As a bonus, the store is really fun to explore - feels like a museum.

This place is insane cool! You wont find any of grandmas antiques here but instead really neat turn of the century items such as flat drawer cabinets, advertising signs, cigar paraphenilia, old medical apothecary and bottles, antique wooden shipping containers and boxes, war memorabilia, tools/hardware and much more! Avoid Restoration Hardware, IKEA and Home Goods and get some items with real history with decent prices while supporting your local businesses!

A gem of a place for hardware oddities and rescues--more gallery than junk shop, clean, friendly, and always interesting. You can leave here with a cool doorknob or coat hook or with an enormous one-of-a-kind treasure, such as an ornate seven-foot cabinet used in the 20s to show promotional film reels or a steampunk factory punch clock. Plan for the unexpected.

Rude, rude, rude. Grew up in Eastmoreland and have a very high intelligence. Because I am 70 pounds under weight and have no teeth, as I am awaiting surgery for both. Based purely on what I look like, was treated like I could not possibly afford to be there. Shame on you for treating a repeat customer like a homeless junkie, I think you whispered. Will never bother you again. Anyone that supports discrimination should go here.

Like a Tim Burton movie, Old Portland Hardware & Architectural is full of odd artifacts and bizarre pairings reclaimed from salvage -- a curio shop, antique shop, and retro art studio all rolled into one.
