The best bagels in town.Β The end.The everything bagel is, well, everything.Β Add one of their house-madeΒ cream cheese flavors and prepare for an out-of-body experience.Every Thursday, I place my pre-order online for Friday pickup- they make it super easy and are really transparent about the process on their website and social- Trust me, the bagels are worth the wait.Great product.Β Incredible staff.Β Keep doing what youre doing!
Excellent bagels! I bought these bagels from the Belfast Co-op. The everything bagel has the spices all around, so the bottom half is just as good as the top half. The size is great too. Thanks for making such great bagels!
Overpriced for a mediocre bagel. Only open Fridays?!?! Weird.Update: Hey crazy owner/manager. Been to your shop many times as my boyfriend used to find it convenient (even though I have never been impressed). My opinion doesnt change whether it be midnight, 8am, 1pm, etc. Get a grip, handle a review like an adult. Also, stop trying to make a statement with your hours. Ok, we get it. Labor is hard to come by. Either increase your wages, or close up the shop. Opening from 8-1 on Fridays is absurd. You are making it or you are not.
When we got to Union Bagel, the guy at the door told us that if we want bagels, we can go to this random coffee shop next door to buy them. I asked why I couldnt buy the bagels from him, and he said that his toaster is off. It was not broken. Just turned off. And Im here thinking, well turn it on, buddy! Press the button! Anyway, seems like a lazy business to me.
Website and google says itβs open but itβs notβ¦really annoyingRe: thanks for the note. I was excited to have a bagel. However, your website homepage does say open daily 6-2 except holidays so it was incorrect in two places. Thanks.
The Gentleman, on site, (? Owner?), was very nice and helpful about the new hours and ordering process. I look forward to trying the bagels, Ive heard Sooooooo much about, next Friday!!!! Update: OMG Sooooooo worth the wait!!! Especially the Garlic bagel!!!Hands down the Best Bagel EVER!!! Utter Perfection!!π
High quality the kind of bagels the gods would eat
Fresh bagels, fairly inexpensive. Cozy place
I wanted to like this place because I love fresh bagels but I just cant. The people were great, the bagels looked great, the taste - not so much. The everything bagel had no garlic and barely any salt. The jalapeno tofu was nothing like other tofu cream cheese subs I have had in the past. It was a hummus consistency with zero flavor even though I could make out specks of jalapenos so I know that I wasnt served the wrong flavor. If I hadnt been driving an hour home, I would have turned around and requested something else.
Absolutely top-quality, hand made bagels. The best in town by far. For whatever reason, this place gets overlooked when the big magazines come to town for the Best of articles, but Union outclasses all the others. Great service, good prices, but most importantly, terrific bagels. Other bagels in Portland are good. Unions are the best.
Amazing bagels. Amazing cream cheese. You can tell the employees take pride in their work, the veggie cream cheese was homemade and blew me away. I canβt wait to come back!
I love union bagel! ignore the one star review from the person who decided that the people who had to work on Labor Day (a crazy busy day for service industry workers) werenβt working hard enough for her and didnβt check her privilege before leaving unnecessary and misleading comments. Iβve always had good service and the food is amazing!
I hate to write negative reviews, especially on small businesses, but I have to for this place. Showed up around 10:30am on a Monday. Ordered three bagels and we were told it would be a 20 minute wait(totally fine, I get holidays are busy). 45 minutes later we were still waiting and asked how much longer only to be told that they didnt have the ingredients they needed for one of the toppings on site and that the wait would be an additional 30 minutes to get them delivered. Instead of telling us from the start that they were out of that ingredient....The girl making the bagels was very friendly and nice but the cashier was super rude the whole time and also used the phone several times in-between touching ready to eat food which is a big health code violation. But the coffee was good.
Phenomenal egg and cheddar on an everything bagel. Chewy and tasty.Plus:Great coffee that isnβt more than $2.
Terrific little neighborhood spot. Its tiny so there may be a line but it is well worth it. The folks working there are fast and friendly and the bagels are awesome. Try the Bread and Roses (lox and all the veggies) on an everything bagel with cream cheese and you wont be disappointed.
Love this place and make a point to stop by whenever we visit.
I had very good bagels here
This is a great bagel spot in Portland. Yummy homemade bagels and great cream cheese. Friendly servers. Worth the trip.
Wonderful bagels. They were always our favorite when we lived in Portland. Dense chewy and flavorful, the way a bagel should be, not the big fluffy bread rolls that some chain cafes and bakeries sell. Outstanding!
Tiny bagel bakery with drip coffee too. My second visit, still just OK. The plain and sweet bagels unfortunately catch some of the onion and poppy seed flavors as the latter seems to be their most popular. Expensive at $2 each, 6 for $11. I get it though, running a small bagel shop in Portland must be a tough gig.
Small little bagel store with excellent breakfast sandwiches. Great place to grab breakfast if youre in a hurry.
New best bagel! Love the Bread & Roses. My only suggestions include pls have more cinnamon raisin bagels. You always sell out at the Veranda Street location; and white milk for the kids! Thanks!
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCEordered the special, the lox bagel with capers and cream cheese, took one bite and realized they gave me the wrong order since it was just cream cheese (no problem) I go back and I nicely ask them if this is the lox bagel. The girls working said that thatβs what it looked like and looked at me as if I was an alien and as if they were incoherent and heads were somewhere else. Every time I have ordered lox I have seen bits of salmon and I was really disappointed with the service of this place. I also asked for a toasted bagel and it was not toasted but left chewy. My boyfriend received his sandwich and it was perfectly made to order and he said delicious which is why it is so unfortunate I leave this terrible review about the service. Also the price was very high for a special bagel at $5.75 when it was just cream cheese!
The bagel was alright, the cream cheese was good. Nothing too exciting. Also, I waited for quite a while for a bagel when there wasnt a huge line. The place was tiny and looked like trash. Plus, I saw that the person putting the bagels together was not wearing gloves. So touching vegetables for sandwiches, the bagels, utensils, etc. all bare handed. This is not the same as not wearing gloves prior to cooking. When preparing the food for the customer I feel the person should wear gloves. Will I go back? Only if somebody asks me to come along with them. Im sure Ill find quality bagels somewhere in town.
Good bagels and egg and cheese. Service was quick and friendly. A bit pricey but very tasty.
Best bagel sammy Iβve gotten outside of NYC in a long time. A friend of mine recommended it and she never heard the end of my praise. Mail me some?π
Delicious! I had a sesame bagel with avocado, tomato and cucumber. Very tiny and unique place.
Great bagels, and plenty of vegan options including three different vegan spreads.
Oh 5*All the food so fresh. Best home brew ice tea
The bagels were good. The place is tiny. The employees were not nice. Not even to the locals. A youre welcome in response to thank you would have gone a long way. Wont be back.
Bagels made fresh daily and you can tell. Took about 5 minutes for a bagel and egg sandwich. Bagel had a lot of cream cheese but just scraped off. Worth the visit!
I want to rate this higher because it is such a cute little place with a very friendly staff. But, the bagels were overly chewy outside without enough body inside, Ive definitely had better. Not bad by any means, solid B+
These bagels were delicious! A nice quaint little bakery making incredible fresh bagels and spreads at a great price. Given the size, they even offer seating to the rear which is perfect
Best bagels in Portland! Love these guys. Unpretentious to boot. They offer vegan toppings and have delicious tea.
I donβt comment on anything but this place sucks. I ordered a lox special on everything bagel for $6 and some change. Menu said capers salmon and onions with cream cheese. I got less than an oz of salmon no capers and the tinfoil that they wrap it in just got everywhere
Quick tiny bagel spot!! No place to eat, all carry out, but delicious and quick!!
Jalapeno jalapeno jalapeno! Spicy bagels and tofu spread. Sadly the day I went the toaster was broken.
Very nice staff, fast service, great bagels! We enjoyed our visit here.
Expensive good bagels. Cream cheese delicious but expensive. 5 star because of quality 2 stars for costs
Incredible bagels but more impressive is the cream cheese. Great stuff.
Came here on my trip to main. Friendly staff and fresh coffee. Bagels way better than anything on the west coast .
Bagels were meh. Somewhat doughy tasting. Service was good and it was neat seeing them making the bagels right there.
Good egg and cheese bagel. Get it on a cinnamon raisin bagel with ketchup.
The two young ladies there were awesome my daughter dropped your bagel they were so sweet and replaced it without any problems the music was good the atmosphere is great were definitely definitely returning there again
Many people must love this place seems well known/established however i hated it and i am a huge fan of bagels new york style bagels or bust! These are far from a new york style, very heavy bread-like texture/flavor not good at all there, and the cream cheese was just off had a very weird flavor to it unlike anything ive ever had i was with someone we both got an everything with veggie and both were grossed out with the same opinion i was starving and couldnt take more than 2 bites (the second was just to confirm lol) so this is my honest opinion, the people were nice the place small and cozy.
Authentic, small batch, delicious. Best bagels in Portland!
Hole in the wall shop turning out some good bagels made on the premises daily.
Highly recommend their bread and roses!
Great bagels and great fast service.
Best bagel in Portland. They are always on point
The focus on one thing excellent bagels
Bagels so delicious youll write a review about them. IMO, dont get them toasted -- they are made fresh daily anyway and are baked...often toasted makes them a little too crunchy.
Small menu, nice people, quick bite.. no seating but we saw them rolling out the bagels right in front of us which was cool!
Very friendly staff, good bagels and coffee - nothing bad to say about this place.
Great tasting bagels, and the egg/cheese bagel sandwich is priced fairly. Maybe even the best price in town!
The bagels were so fresh! A great way to wake up.
Bagels were great, my seven-year-old says it fills you up when youre hungry.
Tiny little place with great bagels, coffee, and service. Our bsgrls were fresh from the oven, still warm and delicious.
Delicious bagels also in a timely manner you can just get one before you go to work ya know
Genuinely the best bagel in town.
When I die, if I could be buried with one of Unions bagel and scallion cream cheese that would be great. Thanks.
What they lack in selection of types of bagel sandwiches they make up in quality. Delicious!
Walk up order walk out love it
Excellent bagels. Fresh as can be expected.
Best bagels in portland
Excellent bagels and great bagel sandwiches. My favorite is the Bread and Roses.
Cozy spot to get a breakfast sandwich and some coffee.
Delicious hand-crafted bagels, sandwiches and desserts.
Good coffee, good bagels, tiny little shop.
The place itself is very small, kind of uncomfortable to stand and as everyone is crowded into the tiny customer space at the front of the shop. Most importantly though the bagel was not that great. Just okay, not even as good as some store bought bagels I have had.
Best bagels in maine. Great staff
Delicious baked goods, friendly (if small) store. I would love to see them offer some gluten-free alternatives.
Fresh and local. Lemon caper lox spread!
Best bagels in the city!
Good bagels good service.
Best soft bagels ever!
Excellent bagels. Best in Portland.
Excellent bagels, friendly staff.
Solid bagels, but SO expensive.
Great bagels friendly staff.
Get a bagel with jalapeno cream cheese and a rocket fuel coffee milk to wash it down.
Truly the finest bagels in Portland.
I love the avocado bagel
