Love the excellent bike I got at NPBW a few months ago, and the super friendly and helpful staff. Nice policy to give any new bike a free first tune up, which I needed as I was on my bike at least an hour a day since I got it! One time I drove by and they took a look at my brakes on the spot, even though they are backlogged with repairs like everyone else now. Super glad they are here!

I had taken my bike to three different bike shops before people at North Portland Bike Works finally fixed my front derailleur. They did a great job and did it relatively quickly. This is my new home base bike shop for sure.

I can not recommend their bike repair service enough. This was one of the best customer service experience I have ever had. My bike was fixed on time, under budget, and rides like a dream. They were very communicative when they found extra work they recommended, and the cost estimate of that work was spot on (and didnt cause any delay in me getting my bicycle. Bravo!

Its always so weird when you go into a business and feel like they actually want to help you on a personal level in contrast to simply wanting your money. These guys are great. Bought an awesome bike here during one of their sales and love it a lot. They even looked at it and tweaked it up for free the other day. Perfectly satisfied.

BikeWorks is amazing! We are a nonprofit that supports foster teens. One of our teens needed a bike to commute to work and we brought North Portland Bike Works a donated bike to get “ride ready” for our teen. They did great work, were friendly and knowledgeable and all around great to work with! They also threw in a lock and helmet to keep our kid and his new wheels safe. I can’t recommend them enough! Please support these rad humans with your business. You will love working with them!

This shop is fantastic. We were traveling from out of state and had a new-to-us bike shipped to a friends house in Portland. We will realized that it needed some work beyond skill level, so brought it in. Not only was it ready a few hours later, but we got friendly, helpful advice for continued maintenance and ways to make other bikes more user friendly. Prices were imminently reasonable. I wish this bike shop was in my neighborhood!

Weve typically gone here for our bike maintenance, but recently stopped by to have our kids bike checked out as our daughter did some of her own maintenance on her brakes and wanted a pro to look things over. I strolled in as a walk-in needing a tune up and concerned with a few parts needing replacement as quoted by Bike Gallery. While the other place gave me a two-week turnaround time, the team here took my bike in right away. They found it to be in perfect condition and did not need any replacements. Bonus! While I waited, I cuddled with their cute dogs. This place is friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I didnt feel uncomfortable not having the most knowledge of my own bike. I highly recommend bringing your bike here for honest service. They even threw in a new reflector, seeing mine was damaged.

Needed my drivetrain replaced in a pinch and Lindsay couldn’t have been more helpful. Portland bike shops have never been busier and Lindsay was still able to repair my bike in a very short window. Thanks!

Not for profit bike shop. Ive gone in on several of their workshop Tuesdays (workers will help you work on your bike - for free!) and always been very happy with the help. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to learn how to do basic work on their own bike.

Nonprofit with Great staff and lots of new & used bikes. Service is excellent. My only complaint, once they special ordered a helmet for my wife but we never got a call and they didnt know anything about it when we asked

I want to leave a review for Kat, because truly, she rocks! Ive tried a few times to find a bike that suits me but quickly aborted my efforts each time. Of the four shops I went to I felt uncomfortable and pretty unwelcome. I really got the impression from the staff that I was putting a dent in their day by asking them questions and taking up their time. Then I found North Portland Bike Works and Kat immediately made me feel welcome and let me know that shed be happy to help me find my dream bike. She was so patient and kind and really went out of her way to help me enjoy the whole experience. Ill be taking my hubby there this week to hopefully help find him his dream cycle too! Great bike shop, i bought my bike in the summer from there, its was shipped from newjersey, the staff treated me great and educated me on the product i was buying. Overall i would recommend this bike shop to anyone looking to purchase a bike, or learn more about cycling.

Great experience fixing a flat. The mechanic helped me out and even gave me a little rubber grommet to protect a sharp edge around the valve stem free of charge. Back riding :)

I bought my Linus here last winter and they were so helpful, nice, and easy to deal with. The owner even helped install new lights and a rack on my bike while I continued to shop. Recently, I brought my bike back in for a tune-up and they had it back to me within a day. It was shining like a brand-new bike when I got it back and I swear it rode even better too!

Check this place out - reasonably priced gear, free bike pump usage outside, and love that they even sell individual tube patches for if youre in the neighborhood when you get a flat!Ive dropped in a few times to check out NPBW, bought a few maintenance necessities, and ended up chatting with the friendly staff who told me about the donation-based community repair workshops they put on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. I was stoked - my bike could definitely use some tuning up and Ive been wanting a few pointers on how to adjust a few things. Ended up going and Alex took lots of time showing me all the ropes, sharing tips, and my ride is SO dialed in now!! Its like a new rig, Im in love. Thank you!

There was a time in my not so long ago past when I daily biked thirty miles from the lakeside house where I breakfasted with river otters before my commute to downtown Olympia to open an independent bookstore for a population with book sense (albeit less than Portlands). So joyfully cycle-prone was I that I scarcely imagined any able-bodied adult ever making any trip of 50 miles or less by anything besides a bike. Living afterwards on Orcas Island for several years, my overwork tendencies coupled with the winter westerner weaned me quickly away from biking so much and when I later moved to the DC/NY conurbation the bike stayed behind with other belongings in Seattle until I sorted it all out after a brief settling in. When retrieved, the bike was a showpiece of tension between being so loved and being hella neglected and way more than gently used. With trepidation, I surrendered my bike to the miraculously affordable miracle ministrations of NoPo Bike Works. Theyd not been around in the 90s when Id lived just off Michigan and Failing, so I fretted to fullest extent and expected a financially disastrous bill too. Not so.The cost was minimal, the iron steed reborn, and now I ride regularly and often regale recent wave arrivals with unremarkable and tendentious claims of has-been-ness (which is really quite a new & noable achievement in arrogance more than once predicted as possible). If you encounter me, just defocus your eyes a bit and add a moderate smile and variable periodic nodding and Ill ramble but a little briefer before mentioning the one piece of it worth your recall. Support North Portland Bike Works if possible, and the older bike shops and community organizations as much as you might. Its a worthy spot and theyll do you and your velocipede very very well.

Used to be my local shop when I lived closer to it. The owners are nice and they do good repair work.

Brought my bike in because it wasnt shifting correctly, and they not only fixed it and lubed the chain, but also adjusted the brakes and basically gave me a mini-tune up for $20 and got it done early the next morning
