Solid customer service and reliable boots!My girlfriend and I came in looking for a new pair of boots! Two associates came and assisted us with both of our needs. They gave us multiple boots to try on and gave us suggestions on insoles that honestly changed everything for me with my boots! We both left with exactly what we were looking for and our boots are perfect!Thank you!

This store has a nice selection of shoes; it has convenient hours; and the staff are diligent in their restrictions as to the number of customers, social distancing, and sanitization. The associates are never super friendly, but they ARE polite.

Everyone here was super friendly, and helpful. The staff helped me narrow my options to two pairs of shoes, and I bought them both. It didnt take long at all and they were moderately busy. The parking was very limited, but I was able to get a spot.

Called today to see if they had the size and color of 1460s that my daughter has been looking for forever. They did, and they were so kind to hold them for me. They were pleasant in the store and the transaction went super smoothly. I would have given a higher rating if they had a bathroom. I am from out of state and had been driving some time to get there so I really needed a restroom. I said I urgently had to go and they directed me to the nearest one which was a couple of blocks away. I am no spring chicken and have a knee injury, so I knew I couldnt make it there and back. Had to get my purchase and go, as I was just driving through. Since I dont purchase shoes online, if they had a restroom I could use I would have gone and then taken the opportunity to buy at least a few more pairs. I had saved a couple of paychecks to load up and planned on getting at least 3 more pair since I dont know when Ill make it back and they have a better selection than I can find in the department store. Bummer.

I went in to get some steel toed shoes for work, but since my company was paying for it, they didnt get credit for the sale. Despite that, Jordan made my experience super comfortable and I was well taken care of. Despite the masks, her smile lit up the room. Really cool store!

Came in here on a Friday evening to pick out a new pair of boots for my daughter. Staff was awesome from the moment we walked in. Everyone was sooo friendly! We were helped by a nice young man who helped us narrow down the shoes we wanted and helped us find the best fit. My daughter got a great new pair of boots, some socks and a little kit to care for the leather. All the staff was very informative and we will be coming back for sure!

Conviently located in the heart of downtown Portland right across the street from Powells bookstore, this store is worth a visit! Although small, the layout is nice with lots of glass and windows. Many options are available, including kids sizes and vegan friendly choices. The staff is friendly and incredibly helpful. 👍

I cant say enough about how great our experience was. My daughter got her first pair today and our associate (hes m.o.d.) was so so patient. Even while she changed her mind multiple times. He was a Saint! And so good natured and went above to make sure to teach her how to take care of her new shoes and how to break them in. Made the drive worth it!!

Don’t bother calling because their voicemail is always full. their return policy is awful, had to show a bank transaction to “confirm” I purchased the shoes I was returning because the ending four digits didn’t look familiar to me (Apple Pay). While the MOD was nice, she didn’t instill trust in me which never feels great. She also just refunded the $120 of my $120.05 which isn’t a big deal but seems bizarre for a company that’s so stickler on their return policy.

Got me them boots! 😎 You have to go half a size smaller then your normal size. Also, you might feel somewhat discomfort when you try them, even first couple of times you wear them. But ones they adjust to your feet, they are the most comfortable boots Ive ever had.They look a little funny on the pic, but its just how I took the pic 🤪

I recently visited the Store 2 times, and both times got exceptional customer service. 1st time was in late Dec.2020, with my Daughter. It was very busy, with a long line, but I was surprised how quickly the line moved, and we were in the store in short order. Rachel was our sales rep and she was fantastic. My Daughter and I had different needs, and she seamlessly moved to assist us both, all while assisting other shoppers. My Daughter was ecstatic about her shoes!The 2nd time I visited in early Jan.2021, to return/trade the shoes I got in Dec (my bad, hasty decision). I was assisted by both Skyler and Mary, who were both great. I took my time, this time. They both were very patient, knowledgeable, and friendly. I got some shoes that were better for me. All the sales reps there create a fun, helpful, and relaxed environment. High Marks To Dr. Martens!

I love this store and everyone who works there except that kid andrew. horrible attitude the entire time i was looking for shoes, gave me the wrong size, it clearly stated on the box and he gave me an attitude when i pointed it out and said what size i needed. then brought out a shoe 2 sizes smaller than the one i still needed. he wouldn’t help with sizing or answering questions i had, he just dropped the box in front of me and walked off, i asked someone else for help and as soon as i did he ran over, when she walked away, he gave me attitude so im assuming she was the manager since he didn’t have the act going in front of her. that same girl was gonna ring me up until he barged in, gave me attitude the whole time and pushed the box at me when i finished paying. surprised this kid still works here.

Second time there over the past months. Staff treated my wife like royalty as She was looking for some boots. We were the oldest ones in the store and were quite welcomed which doesnt happen everywhere but it happens here. The first part of August was our first stop and that felt good and so we returned again. We cannot say enough good things about Doc Martens on Burnside.

The kid with pink hair (Skyler) was so helpful! He helped with sizing despite having to pull out 2-3 pairs of boots and my friends and I left supporting the store with over $300 of sales. However the cashier, cute small gal with a buzz cut was incredible rude. Tried to force me to buy leather care i already owned, didn’t ask me who helped me (probably wanted to keep the commission because she actively commented on having only $600 in sales to someone else), just overall was rude. Didn’t say thank you for coming or ANYTHING. Just want to make sure the actually helpful staff earn the commission from my store purchase. If i was to come back, i would look out for the pink haired sales rep again!

Helpful staff. Very good at limiting people inside the store due to Covid. Area to line up outside is mostly covered..They were out of my daughters size in the color she wanted(which was understandable). They ARE open on Sunday 12-6.

David absolutely made my experience here the best I’ve had at any Dr. Martens. My boyfriend and I were in town (him from the Bay, me from Central CA), and were hoping to score some Docs sans tax. David helped us (for quite a long time), grabbed a bunch of styles for us, and made good recommendations. I felt nothing less than comfortable here; trying on shoes usually makes me feel pretty self conscious. He was knowledgeable about all the styles, prompt, and generally very sweet and honest! He even let my boyfriend wear his Docs right out the door. Thanks David, hope you get a chance to come out to San Francisco one day! 💗

They can only let in so many people at a time, however theres no sign telling you that until you walk in and they sneakily bark that you need to go outside and wait until they come out and say its ok. They dont carry laces for knee high boots either, or have any knee high boots there at all that i could see. Thats apparently only online. All in all it was a disappointing experience going there, and Id wanted to go Into the Doc Martins store my whole life. Made me sad.

I love doc martens. When my partner saved up for two years to gift me a pair I was ecstatic, theyd be my first and and I was ready! Now, after an incredibly long exchange process, because they didnt fit at first, a process that took almost triple the time their customer service said it should, I have them, and I hate them. Took forever to get worn in enough to not wound my foot everytime I wore them, they still do sometimes, and I still hate them. They are the worst shoes Ive ever had the displeasure of owning, and I am so incredibly saddened by that. I know I am just one opinion, just keep it in mind when you purchase your $200 shoes.

Very friendly staff. I had never been to a Doc Martens store before and I didnt know how it worked. But they answered my questions and helped me get the boots I wanted. Very happy with the boots themselves. They also have their own parking lot which is extremely convenient in Portland.

I never really write reviews but I had to for a specific employee at the Burnside location. Her name is ALISON (hopefully I spelled her name correctly). By far she is one of the best sales people I have ever experienced in my life. I know it’s just a shoe store and not that big of a deal buying but she made it a wonderful experience. Most importantly she is personable. I had so much fun in that store. She created connection which is so so rare. Sincere!!!!I have returned because my experience with her. I mean I love the shoes. Love them. But I am now a lifetime customer because of her. I wish all stores had employees like that! Alison, if you ever read this, thank you. You will be successful in anything you do!!!Sometimes I get a little frustrated with getting help with shoes. I know what I like. I know what fits me best and how they should feel. Not only was Alison knowledgeable, she gained my trust almost immediately. She let me try on the size I thought fit me, then kindly made a suggestion of a size that might work better only if I wanted to try it out. She explained why that size worked better for the style, walked me through how it should feel and was so patient with me even when she had lots of customers. I never think sales people will suggest a different style I actually like. Holy cow she has awesome taste. She brought out styles she thought I would like and I ended up buying a few pairs because magically, they were boots I have always wanted but could never find.

Had a fantastic time at the store, salesperson was great. Paid for the shoes and left, all good. But then when I finished the drive 2 hours south to Eugene where I live, I took my boots out of the box the salesman put together and found there were 2 left shoes!! He put the 2 left boots of the 2 sizes I tried on into the box instead. I don’t know when the next time I can drive the 4 hours to get the right boot. And when I called, they didn’t pick up and their mailbox was full so I have no way of contacting them. Pretty frustrated, I was excited to wear them.

My favorite shoes, my favorite store. Staff was friendly, helpful, and informative. You can call in and reserve shoes before picking them up. I recommend made in England Dr martens as they are made by hand. And yes, they have them here. Stop in if your curious, there selection is huge.I wanted to add a short history of DM to tell you why most of there shoes are made in Asia. Dr Marten almost went bankrupt and had to close there doors in late 2003. There only option was to outsource most of there manufacturing across the world in China, and Vietnam. It saved there buissnes and there original warehouse in england. I understand why people complain about the made in China stamp on most there boots, but if you knew why you would have a bit of heart for the company. Besides, they still make and sell the vintage styles in england and can be bought at there stores and online.

I love this place. The staff is friendly and helpful. If you get there early enough they have a small parking lot so you dont have to pay for parking. Docs are great boots. Glad theres a place here in the NW I can just walk in an buy direct.

This store is the BEST! Staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and real. Im a bit older than the average customer (grandma of 3!) and picky when it comes to my Docs, but they were patient and helpful, showed me many different styles, and I found the perfect boots! I put them on immediately and might never take them off!

Just had to do an exchange for warranty with this store and the staff was incredibly helpful, kind and thoughtful. No excuses no suspicion just straight up old school customer service. The clerk took the time to remember my name...find me the right shoe and even made it fun....I am so impressed and happy...I would give them 10 stars if possible.

This brand must be popular among teens. My daughter purchased here and worn just one time, short distance, but found out it is not comfortable at all.When we purchased, the salesperson said we can retun within 30 days. So I went to store to return.Unfortunately they said they cannot accept return since it is worn outside. The manager Ryan recommended for me to resale.Since we paid $180 p, very expensive, the salesperson should point out it should not be worn outside at all to do the return. She just mentions 30 days and also for my eye, it just looks brand new. You should be extremely careful when you purchase this store.

Dr. Martens provides terrible service. Was at the Portland location a few weeks back, they didnt have my size nor helped me place an order online for the shoes Ive been looking at. Ended up purchasing online myself and had issues with what they sent me and their corporate customer service was absolutely terrible. As cute as the shoes are if you run into any issues with what you bought beware theyre going to be absolutely no help.Update:After making reviews online about my experience, finally got an email from their customer service giving me a partial return for my troubles. Changed from one to three stars only because the last person I spoke to finally acknowledged my frustrations.

The staff is GREAT! Theyre super helpful, helped me find just the pair of boots I wanted right around closing and didnt make me feel like Id overstayed my welcome or like they were rushing to get me out of the store. They were all super friendly and got me to go home with just what I wanted!

Big store, really helpful people working there. It was right before Christmas and they were really busy, but we were helped so promptly! Got some beautiful black holographic shoes for my partner. I’m sad they don’t carry half sizes. I’m a true 8.5 and an 8 is too tight and the 9 is too big.

I’ve been to this store twice. Once in August and once a few days ago in October. Both experiences have been phenomenal! David was so much fun to talk to as I tried on several pairs of Docs! The first time I went in, both my boyfriend and I were trying on shoes. It was amazing how many pairs of shoes were coming and going as we picked the style we wanted. He was so amazing with bringing the different styles to and from the stockroom. That first time we left with two pairs of Docs. This last time we left with a pair of pink glitter docs. The reason we came back to this store was to have David help me find the perfect Docs! We had even saved the receipt so we could figure out who to order through!

I just went to the store yesterday desperately in need of some new and durable every day boots. I went into the Dr. Martens Store for the first time ever. I was clueless as to where to start as I’ve never had a pair of casual boots. The staff was extremely friendly, made me feel relaxed, and helped me find the perfect shoes for me. I tried on some pairs and was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the boots. I went home with a classic pair of Dr. Martens and I will be buying another pair from the Portland store in the future.

I wish I didnt have such a negative experience, but I most certainly did. I went to the store because of a quality defect in the Flora boot that has caused a hole to form in 2 consecutive pairs of my boots. When I explained the problem and showed the boots, the assistant shift manager (Piper) told me she could definitely provide me with a replacement pair. She asked for my size, brought out the pair, and began to ring me up. Then, she suddenly changed her mind and decided I had to call the online return service because I ordered them online. I was not pleased, but I complied. I sent the photos, and about a week later received an email stating that the hole forming was a result of normal wear and tear on untreated leather, although I had them less than a year and used the Wonder Balsam since the day I bought them. They suggested it was unlikely that the pair would be replaced, but I could still send them in. I replied and detailed my negative experience at the store. In return, I received a rather aggressive email back that has cemented my desire to never again purchase a pair of Dr. Martens.

I had a wonderful experience here. I purchased a pair of DMs that were too small because I felt like the next size up was too big. I ended up coming back to exchange for the larger size and the great sales associate was awesome. She helped me try every combination of insoles and boots until I felt like I had for perfect fit. Went to get a 11 year old boots they’ll grow out of in six months for her birthday. Sales person said youth size 6 didn’t exist, and was shown website. Told me the “Softy T” meant toddler, (it was the leather type) - she’d work there forever so youth size 6 does not exist... didn’t matter I showed her the website. Ironically she had my daughter try on a women’s size 5, which is smaller than a kids size five- just to up-sell me to an adult size. Go there to browse then order from the website or call- they’re less pretentious and honest, and wouldn’t charge you $10 to ship the sizes/colors not in stock (which seemed to be was most of them). I recommend spending a little more local usually, but not with that customer service.

Honestly Ive been wearing Dr. Martens since I was 13 years old and shopping at this store is a great experience always I definitely recommend anybody to go in there theyre going to get all set up. Atticus one of the managers is great and goes beyond expectations.

Only place in Portland, maybe Oregon, to find a good selection of the Drs boots. Maybe a bit full of itself for that reason, but everyone is essentially friendly.

Went in today (Nov 3rd 2017) and found a very busy store, with chill and very attentive employees. David ended up hwlping me out, we shared some convo throughout the process and it felt immediately like simply hanging and talking with a friend. I walked out with exactly the boots I wanted and very pleased that I wasnt just another customer. While I was there I was THE customer. Thats refreshing given how poorly I usually get treated.Hats off and a double flipping A++ for service and cost.

The staff at the Portland Dr Marents is amazing with customer service, phone and in person. I appreciate I didnt feel like theyre using me to meet a sales quotas. The staff is personable, friendly and I observed them working as a stellar team together. This location has as great of a variety as the Dr Marten website and this location has more availability in sizes then I online. I am super happy with my purchase of a new pair of Kristy Boots! My previous 10 hole boots lasted me 19 years and only recently the ankle seam tore leaving a large hole, but the quality and durability in DrMarten led me to return and I hope this new pair holds up for a quarter of my previous pair.
