These guys were awesome right out of the gate. From the first cold call I made to set up the assessment of my vehicle to the minute I drove off the lot with a new catalytic converter, there was never a moment I felt tense or frustrated. One must deal with the sketchiness of the surrounding area (Barbur Blvd is not a pretty tourist friendly side of Portland after all). But you will not regret them working on your vehicle. Theres a reason they have such a high rating on google. My car is driving better now than it ever had before thanks to the work these guys put into it.

My favorite exhaust shop in the Portland metro area. I have a custom exhaust on my 1994 4runner and Lee and his crew have worked on it a few times, so this is an honest review of his work and shop. Lee is great with his communication, he does not overcharge and explains the costs and labor up front. The exhaust system was first installed at Exhaust Specialties in Tualatin about 15 years ago, and they told me it was not ceramic coated even though it stated it on the box, had the coating on the header and LCE Engineering is a great supplier that doesnt deceive buyers. Lee and A1 Muffler was a welcome shop for me after dealing with a pack exhaust techs that didnt know what they were talking about.I highly recommend Lee and his shop, he is the type of owner Portland needs more of when it comes to servicing cars and trucks.

I will make this short. I asked for my dual exhaust to be installed out the back of my truck. I had pick up the truck after closing time. They told me to bring my truck back if I didnt like the sound. I drove it home. And it sounded like a kazoo. Then I noticed they installed the exhaust out the side of the truck. I returned two days later. And explained to them my displeasure with changing the agreement on location of the exhaust. And the sound. They told me they could not install out the back.I had to show them how to install the exhaust out the back. I returned the next day. The exhaust is installed out the back. And sounds great.

Went to A1 after calling many shops about replacing a stolen catalytic converter on a 2000 Honda Accord. Lee was the nicest guy, most informative and gave an honest and fair price when talking to him on the phone. Dropped the car off that same afternoon and he had it done in under two hours and a few dollars less than quoted. Dont waste your time anywhere else, give Lee a call!

Called them to get a quote for our catalytic converter that was stolen off our truck. Let my husband know and the called and set an appointment for the next day. They looked and the truck and showed me what was missing, what they could do and how much it would cost (lower then phone quote :D) and took an hour to fix. They were very knowledgeable and friendly. Will recommend them and use again in future of needed.

Its pretty easy to see why everyone in the Portland area gives this company so many great reviews.Mr. Lee Ennis and his professional staffs are top notch.I came in with a fully custom built custom exhaust setup that was built from another company. The exhaust tips that came with it was starting to show its age (slight rust and normal black deposits that build up over time)So I made a decision to order some aftermarket exhaust tips to replace the left and right side.I was skeptical that by doing this it would cause the tips to look crooked and not properly aligned with the vehicle. This was where I was wrong. The professionalism from A1 took everything into consideration and rest assured that it would look 10x better than what the other shop did and lo and behold!!!These Photos dont do it any justice. Now Im a loyal customer and have recommended A1 Muffler to several people now since my new upgrade.

Love these guys! Environment around there is serious yet quirky. I work for a company called team Allied distribution so I deliver exhaust parts and tubing to them I look forward to going to them every week. I enjoy spending time there teasing and seeing the work that they do they do a great job Lee, the business owner is sincere and works really hard. Tracys funny as heck and gets the job done and generally has a good sense of humor about things and the other guys are pretty funny too and work really hard they do good job I highly recommend them!

I had my catalytic converter stolen off my car. I had it towed to my mechanic in Hillsboro but he said I was looking at three or four thousand dollars & that didnt include labor. He gave me Lees number at A1 muffler. I spoke to the owner (Lee) He quoted me an extremely fair price & had it fixed in a few days. Im empressed by A1 muffler & the owner! I would not hesitate to go to him again or refer a friend or family member.

Chose A1 to fabricate a custom Cat-back exhaust for my Audi. They care about the customer- I showed them a expensive pre-fab exhaust system I found for my car online from one of my favorite aftermarket brands. The guys at A1 literally custom made me the exact same exhaust system was interested in! it even has the same Magnaflow performance muffler, & the same exhaust tips! & did it for about HALF the cost of the namebrand companys Cat-back system. Im super glad I decided to try out A1 because i got exactly what I wanted, & they provided me a better quality exhaust system since theirs is all welded instead of clamped together like a pre made/off the shelf exhaust system... These guys do great work, & make an effort to deliver what you want. They are great to deal with, & gave me a great deal. Out of the shops around Portland that I called, they gave me the best quote, & listened to me when I tried to explain what I was looking to have done.A few other shops that I called for quotes were rude, argued with me, & refused to even give any kind of rough quote on the work requested & made me feel like they didnt care what I wanted. None of that with A1.Thank you for not being like the competition. Ill be back for sure.

If I could give Lee and this business 10 stars, I would.I took my 2004 Tacoma down after thiefs attempted to steal the catalytic converter. They successfully cut the tail pipe in half on one end, but failed to do so on the other end. This resulted in a completely cut exhaust pipe and a check engine light to signal. I called Lee on a Monday, and was able to take it down the following Wednesday morning. Drove on up and he immediately placed it on the lift and did a quick weld to mend the cut. I was in and out in 15 minutes, not to mention the service was completes FREE! I am blown away! Lee and his staff were EXTREMELY knowledgeable, helpful and have me a few tricks and suggestions to help detour thieves in the future. I would highly recommend this business to anyone!

I called this local repair company after I had learned the catalytic converter had been cut off/stolen from my vehicle the day before. I honestly didnt even check other repair shops to compare rates because this shop got me in so quickly and the reviews speak volumes. Im here to add another 5 star review. Went in to the shop today to have my girlfriends 03 Sonata serviced for a rusted out exhaust pipe. They had her car repaired in less than an hour and only charged us $60 for the service. We are new to Portland and are extremely grateful for their help in such a timely and affordable manner. Would absolutely consider A1 again for any service we need

I had them weld up a new catalytic system to the old muffler. The weld was so smooth and completely tight with no leaks. They even helped with check engine light and diagnosis with other issues. Great guys!

My three year old exhaust system for my Volvo 240 (from Exhaust Specialties on Canyon) cracked in half and almost fell off out in Tillamook. I practically went deaf driving back to Beaverton. I ordered some better than stock mufflers and had the guys at A1 weld them in with new tubes and hangers. Just got back from picking it up and WOW, what great looking work.highly recommend!...and the price was good too.

Excellent service and repairs, quick turn around time. Super happy with this shop, would recommend to anyone. They also install catalytic converter shields to deter thieves which has been a huge problem in the area.

Talk about a solid crew right here. They put a full exhaust on my truck and I absolutely love it, I needed a little extra work a few months later, because that’s just who I am, and they didn’t even blink an eye To fit me in and get it done fast. Wish there was a ten star option. My catalytic converter was stolen and I had called around trying to find a shop with the part I needed. Even went to one filthy shop where no one wore masks and I sat for an hour until they finally told me they couldnt find the part. They even told me to order it on Ebay. I was about to give up, then decided to try this place. Im so glad I did. Outstanding customer service. Got me in same day, for an incredible price. Nice clean shop too. These guys can build a complete exhaust system for any car. Excellent craftsmanship and mig welding. Prices are very reasonable. Lee is very well known and respected in the drag racing community! If you have an exhaust problem or need brake service this is first place I would go.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Dropped my 1969 Mustang off for a complete new exhaust replacement, with ALL parts in-hand. I was quoted $4-500 for the install given all parts fit like a glove....However they didnt.I managed to accidentally supply them with headers too short (my bad) which forced them to build a portion of the system from scratch to fit.Not only was their work show-quality, but even with my error, I was charged MINIMAL extra labor & parts, and was given a discount to top it off.Where MOST OTHER BUSINESSES would SEIZE THE OPPORTUNITY to gouge me for hundreds more, A1 very fairly assessed their added work with a friendly approach.Absolutely will return.

On New Years day thieves tried to steal my catalytic converter by cutting it with a power tool. The owner of A1 muffler actually answered the phone even though they were technically closed and then took my truck in immediately and fixed it. Saved me so much! Professional, fast, quality and value under one Honest roof. If I could give more stars to this awesome crew I would.

Had another shop quote me $2k to fix an issue. A1 muffler quoted me $850 and suggested contacting the dealership to have the repair done through my manufacturer warranty. The repair was done at the dealership at no cost to me. Its clear that A1 truly has the customers best interests in mind.

My Mercedes started making a weird exhaust sound. After calling and talking to Lee. I arranged an appointment for that Friday to have it looked at. I just got an exhaust gasket replaced here and my car has never run so smooth as it does now! They also put effort in giving me the best price possible. Amazing customer service. Excellent work. Stood by their quote even though the extra work wasnt their fault. After we tried 5 different catalytic converters with a mobile mechanic that were supposed to fit and didnt we ended up with a gasket leak and sealed bolts. We finally brought it to A1 and they got the job done cheaper than the money we wasted with the mobile mechanic. An hour and half extra work at no extra cost. Highly recommend them!!!

Both Tracy and Lee were super straight shooters. My 1991 Toyota Pickup got stolen and the cat got sawed off last week. Tracy went and looked for an OEM part for me without asking for anything in return. When he couldnt get his hands on one, he didnt push me to come in and get the universal cat put on or anything. He was incredibly professional and friendly. I thought about the interaction for days afterward because it was so different than every other shop I had spoken to. I just had a good feel that he was a good guy.When I showed up, they gave me a better deal than the price they quoted, and he even let me come into the bay to take a look at the damage done by the thieves before I made a decision to have the muffler and exhaust done at the same time.I walked up the road thinking it would take about an hour and a half to have all the install and welding done. They called me 30 minutes later. I checked the welds and the install and its not shoddy work. Theyre just that fast.Truck starts up and purrs like it should. What a feeling!I highly recommend this shop if you have an older truck like mine. I know that Ill be back if I run into exhaust issues again. Money well spent.

Great shop that stood by their work. Had the header of my XJ Cherokee welded up to be better than new. Re-did the motor mounts at the same time and they took the care to eliminate every vibe even though they weren’t exhaust related. XJ feels brand new now.

A1 performed a custom exhaust install for my Suzuki SX4. They did an incredible job with installation and keeping me apprised of options along the way. Timely, accommodating, and of the highest quality. Would recommend to anyone in the Portland area.

What a great shop, a throwback to pre-chain store times. They welded in an O2 sensor bung (a screw in fitting) into my exhaust so that I can use an air/fuel ratio meter for tuning. I called them on a Friday afternoon, and I was in and out in no time at all. And Lee knew exactly where the fitting should be placed. Incidentally, when I arrived, they were installing a catalytic converter protection plate on a Prius to deter thieves. Great idea, that.

I had a hole in my exhaust from a thief trying to steal the pipes off my 4runner.. I had attempted repairing the hole myself, but those kept failing. I was leaving for a road trip in the morning across the state and decided to call A1 for help. I brought the car right over that same day, they put it up on the lift and welded the hole together in less than 20 minutes. Off I went around the state not having to worry about it anymore. Thanks A1! Super helpful and a great experience overall.

Lee was able to get me in same-day appointment to look at a broken exhaust hanger and possible exhaust leak on our 2010 Toyota Sienna wheelchair van. Turns out that there was no broken hanger or any leaks. Exhaust was just fine. He didnt charge for his time. Offered a great quote on changing my brakes, will for sure use him in the future!

A1 installed an aftermarket H-pipe on my new 2019 Mustang GT (w/ perf exhaust) today and I am very impressed with both the new exhaust note and the skill employed by Lee and his top mechanic. Both gentlemen represent the epitome of traditional auto mechanic commitment to both skill and quality in exercising their craft.The additional heat shields on the Ford exhaust interfered with the H-pipe installation so A1 adjusted the interface so the modified system fit perfectly without loss of sufficient insulation!The cost of having A1 perform the install was less than 1/4 of what my Ford dealership quoted me, plus they gave me a level of confidence in their ability that the Ford dealer did not.In summary, Lee, his mechanic, and A1 Exhaust are all absolutely top notch in every respect. I finally found a go-to exhaust shop here. A1 was able to fit me in the next day and finished quickly. I could not ask for more!On top of all this, Lee and Co. are great to talk to too! Hands down this is the BEST shop. I went to A-1 Muffler to have a dual exhaust installed on my 2015 Ford truck, Lee the owner told me about some low priced Chinese made mufflers. I can tell you that I am very happy he did, the mufflers and also the tips arent cheap at all they are well made good welds all around solid parts, looks and sounds great.
