This place is not worth the premium they charge. There are cheaper and better mechanics - and Ive never before had one who installed a component incorrectly. GreenDrop did so three different times for me - at least they reimbursed me for the parts/multiple tows I had to get. The most recent instance was not securing a bracket bolt in my brake caliper that was installed. Within a month it had fallen out any my front brake didnt work - a serious safety issue. They didnt take much responsibility for that at all... Also, they say no questions asked on their unlimited subscriptions, but every time I go in for an oil change in advance of the mileage coming due (for a long road trip, safety check, etc.) they ask why Im back. They havent replaced my wipers even though Ive asked them to several times. This is a greenwashed place. Not worth the premium they charge you.
Its such an odd feeling to be taken care of by your repair shop, as weve been trained to always be cautious with repair shops. Discovering Green Drop has changed all of that for me. Im in their car care membership, and its been the best thing ever, for me and my car. Im not stressed about when I need an oil change, I just make an appointment and its all taken care of and paid with my *very reasonably priced* membership. I get a full inspection with each visit too, which always includes pictures and descriptions of what repairs are needed, and what those parts of your car does and why its important. My most recent visit was because of my car becoming immobile, so I towed to GD and gave them a call with what was happening. They not only ordered the brand specific part I needed, but also were very transparent about costs and what was actually needed. By ordering a full part but only actually needing a small piece within it, they were able to just replace that and saved me a ton of money on labor costs. Theyre here to make it easier for everyone, not just make a buck. I know that when my car is in the shop, the person I call knows everything about what is going on and gives clear info. Everyone is incredibly friendly and easy going.Shout out to the crew at MLK and Central. Yall are awesome. Thank you!
These guys were awesome, fixed my catalytic converter in no time and under budget. Thanks again Joey!
I was introduced to Green Drop when I DJd an event for the grand opening of their Uptown location. When employees are off duty it can be important indicator on how a business functions. The sense of community and camaraderie at the party was awesome.I am now a loyal customer and I am never disappointed in the service...Customer & Auto!
I couldnt have broken down in front of a better shop. I was trying to sell my 2002 VW Eurovan and after I finished showing it, I couldnt start it. They came down and diagnosed it and had it fixed within a day. Did I mention I was trying to sell it with a bad transmission, was taking a huge loss on it, and the closest place I could find to rebuild the transmission was in Bend. I happened to mention this to the shop manager and he said we could do it! They rebuilt it AND did it for half the cost of the worst case scenario the shop in Bend quoted me. Great people, their online update system ROCKS, and the quality of their work is fantastic. If I didnt just sell my van and bought a new vehicle Id definitely be taking advantage of their basic maintenance membership plan. Highly recommend.
My drop off time was 8:15am, but they were able to accommodate me when I got there at 8:00am. I have the monthly Car Care Membership for $18 a month and it is definitely worth it! For the past year that I have had this membership, I have only gone in 3 times for an oil change and regular maintenance. My oil changes at Toyota are normally $130 each time for synthetic oil. With the car care membership i unlimited oil changes and more! They change out my wipers each time. For my latest appointment, Ive been having car troubles. My car was making this horrible screeching sound every morning that would wake the neighbors up. The guys at green drop were able to fix it by flushing out my break fluids and fixing the gasket! It was an additional $235 on top of the monthly $18, but I never felt at all that these guys are Green Drop are ripping me off.
Dan is a great communicator! The team is efficient and very professional. We have an account with these guys for our fleet of work vehicles and they always are helpful to understand what is the priority with their repair recommendations, and what can be kicked down the road to work when youre strapped for cash.Definitely recommend their service!
Always super helpful and kind staff here
Great service for my prius
The membership has been a great investment for me. They are timely and very friendly.
I get my oil changed with Green Drop Garage. Their service gets a 5 star because, they perform full vehicle check (fluids leaks, engine, brakes, wipers replaced, all exterior lights etc) everytime I get oil changed. And if any repairs are needed they recommend them accordingly. This gives me peace of mind to ensure there isnt anything out of place and everything is screwed tight (so to speak) every few months, and I dont have to take it to a separate mechanic. Pricing is competitive for repair works; I called a few places before getting my repairs done by Green Drop for equal or lesser cost.
I lived in Portland for just shy of two years. I took both my Toyota Tacoma and my wifes Honda CR-V to the Green Drop MLK location. Caleb and the crew there took excellent care of us every time. Their Care Care service plan is a fantastic value and I would highly recommend it to anyone in Portland. If we werent moving out of state I would stick with these guys indefinitely. Thanks yall!
I used to spend way more at the quick lube places. I signed up for their membership a year ago, and have had three oil changes and two fluid top offs plus they replaced my window wipers! Totally worth the yearly membership cost. I am definitely continuing my membership.
Ive been a customer for 7 years. Love the oil change subscription service. They always do a great job on my car and have even come in significantly under their price estimate before.
Green drop went above and beyond to ensure a problem I was having with my car was fixed, I cannot thank them enough. My 2007 toyota camry hybrid battery was replaced at their garage in 2017. Unfortunately due to the brand of the battery, I had many subsequent problems. Green drop helped me at every step of the way whenever I had problems with this battery. Most recently I took my car in with another hybrid battery problem, and Michael and Gina, worked with the manufacturer of the battery company to get me a brand new one free of charge. I was outside my battery warranty, and they put so much extra effort and time in to ensure I got a new, better, battery free of charge to me. Michael really worked with the manufacturer to ensure I dont have any more hybrid battery problems. I am so grateful to them and all the help they have provided. Couldnt say enough great things about this company.
Always really great service . Membership is great if you put a good amount of miles on your car. Love their business practices.
Ive been a grateful customer for several years. Green Drop always provides quality and thorough services. They have gone out of their way to assist me when I had trouble with my vehicle and have made excellent referrals to body shops in Portland. I will be moving out of Oregon in the next few months and will be sad to leave such a great garage. Thank you for everything youve done to keep my car working at its best.
Im a member of Green Drops service program, and I love it. I drive a 2004 Honda with nearly 200k miles on it, so Ive needed some repairs. I find the pricing reasonable and the customer service is superb. I have found their advice and recommendations to be reasonable and havent felt pressured or taken advantage of in any of my visits. I trust that my car is in good hands with their mechanics. I also love the companys ethical approach to doing business. Theyre awesome folks, and Im happy to give them my money.
Connecting with Green Drop Garage was pure serendipity! I needed a good mech rather quick. I was ordering parts at Napa nearby and Green Drop came up. I was a nervous Nellie, due to negative car repair experiences at other repair shops in PDX. My tools were in Hazel Dell, and driving my Pony there was not an option ( ever pushed a Mustang on a bridge?) I decided to have a little faith that Green Drop would be solid. Were they? YES! They were upfront about: 1) What and where the problem actually was. 2)What and how they were going to do the job. 3) How much it would cost, including parts & the initial estimation fee. 4) An HONEST WHEN it would be done. Point #5: Three days later, no issues on the repair. It was done right the FIRST TIME!!Will I return to Green Drop? ABSOLUTELY! ( they have more tools than I do)Would I recommend them? HELL YEAH!Especially for the ladies out there who get queasy just popping the hood.THANK YOU Green Drop (Central) crew for getting me and the Iron Biscuit on the road again! We’ll be back!
Helpful crew clean for a shop fast and curtious customer service I will return
Always friendly, honest, and knowledgeable. By far the best shop Ive ever used! I drive a lot. My 2016 car has over 250k miles and runs like a new vehicle. All thanks to these guys!
I brought my car here after it suffered a catastrophic failure. The mechanics at this garage immediatly understood and respected the emotional value this car had for me and treated me like family. Thier online system for communicating diagnostics and pricing was so helpful and efficient. They helped me make the best decision for my own finances and transportation needs while being very flexible to my schedule and needs. In the time that my car was at this garage I interacted with four different members of the team and all of them were incredibly friendly and passionate about their jobs. Ill definitly continue to use this garage in the future.
Really professionally run shop, personable and responsive people, clear communication and work done well.As an example of their proactivity and aim to take care of customers, when service was competed during my last visit I bumped into their fence while backing my car out of their lot. I received a call from the service manager about 15 minutes later, offering to repair -- at their expense -- any damage Id done to my car, because they said they should not have parked so close to the fence. This offer, in spite of this very minor mishap being much more my fault than theirs, I find very impressive.Theyre a bit on the expensive side, particularly because they charge in a largely a la carte model, and a couple times Ive needed to go back a second time to get a job competed to my (exacting) standards, but I dont fault them for my being fussy.
I SOLD MY CAR AND MOVED 200 MILES AWAY AND I STILL AM CONTINUING MY SERVICE UNTIL END OF CONTRACT BUT THE FINE PRINT STATES YOU MUST HAVE PROOF OF SALE AND SO THEY WOULD NOT LET ME CHANGE MY VEHICLE WITHOUT BEGINNING A WHOLE NEW CONTRACT AND EXPECTED ME TO KEEP PAYING THE CONTRACT ON MY OLD CAR, I SPENT WEEKS WAITING FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE TO CALL ME BACK AND FINALLY GOT A HUMAN WHO THEN EXPLAINED HOW THEY HAD ENTRAPPED ME, PAYING FOR A SERVICE I CANNOT USE ON A CAR I SOLD, PRETTY HEARTLESS IF YOU ASK ME CONSIDERING ALL THAT IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW IN THESE UNPRECEDENTED TIMES. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE
This is an auto shop that is extremely trustworthy. They do good work, and they take pride in it. They take photos of your car to show what needs to be done, and what they have fixed. Last time I had my car worked on, they have me a coupon for a free coffee at a nearby coffee shop. I had a pleasant experience working remotely as Green Drop fixed my vehicle.
We brought our car into green drop for routine maintenance, and they gave us back a list of things we needed to get done on the car, total of $1800. We brought it back in again one week later, had it looked over by a different mechanic at Green Drop, and they gave us a list of $600 of repairs. We brought it into the Subaru dealership and they said everything looked fine. Why are two mechanics giving drastically different diagnostic reports on the same vehicle (which had not been damaged in any way in that interim week). Doesnt make any sense and seems like a money grab.
These folks were super professional and nice. I also work in a service-oriented setting and I really appreciate their professionalism and hospitality. I had requested a front-end alignment and nothing else, even though I knew I would need some other services soon. True to their word, they did just what I asked, and respectfully provided a list of things I should take care of soon, without a pushy attitude about it. Ill continue to go to them for all the services I dont want to do myself!
Weve been customers of Green Drops for years, so now seems like a good time for a more recent review! Weve been Car Care Members for the past couple of years and highly recommend the program. We recently had some recommended service done on both of our cars - it helps keep their staff working during this crisis and we get our needed repairs done. They picked up and dropped off our vehicles for us, arriving exactly when they said they would, and taking vital precautions to protect everyones health including sanitizing our car prior to its return. We consistently receive awesome customer service and know were getting quality work done at a fair price. This is the only place we recommend to our friends and family. Plus, Farhads email newsletters are pretty rad and usually contain at least one Dad Joke.
Great staff!! All down to earth and honest!
Staff was very friendly and met customers needs..
I used to work as a mechanic, so Im both easy and not easy as a customer.Im easy in that I know what needs to be done and dont hesitate to pay for it.Im not easy in that Im going to notice anything weird or wrong or out of place of if the shop isnt clean or properly lit or the general attitude of the managers or mechanics doesnt smell right. This is a good shop and they do good work and they dont charge insane money for it. So far, I really like them.
If you go to Green Drop Garage to have ANYTHING done to your vehicle, dont fall for the Here, let me get you some coffee and the Lets be best friends routine before they quote you that outrageous price. If they tell you your tires are already off so you should let them do the work and just pay that hefty price, ask yourself if these seem like hard-sell tactics used in the sales industry to close deals. How will you know? Easy. Tell them you want a second opinion from another garage. A reputable business wont have a problem with that, and would likely even encourage it. If they come up with a reason why you shouldnt, then theres your sign.
I am from Vancouver Canada, and my car broke down in Portland (on a Saturday)! They were able to get it running and repaired on a Monday morning, which meant that we didnt have to rent a car and return to Vancouver, and then figure out how to get the car from Portland to Vancouver on a separate trip (12 hours of driving).Kudos for fast work in the time frame that they had indicated!
I am so incredibly pleased with the care and service that green drop has provided me and my car! I have been through several mechanics in Portland, and I finally found the best one in green drop! Thank you guys for doing what you do so well!
Always love the service! Is there a way for those with a membership to login before booking a service so that the necessary details can auto fill on the form? If not, can that happen? Its a bit frustrating to have to do that every time.
Nice guys at the front, complimentary coffee coupon given. My only issue was that I paid 120.00 for an oil change that I thought included new wiper blades(mine were streaking), and a new EAF (mine is not horribly dirty, but replaceable in my opinion). I think the service should include these services regardless, at least for the 120.00. Just my two cents. Other than that, good customer service. Good oil change.
Service was great, it was quick and they went above and beyond. I had a coupon code that wasnt working so I just left it and signed up without it, the owner emailed me personally and told me he would get the issue fixed, I was so impressed with that. Their customer service in the shop was great, they were very friendly and explained everything they had done. They also attached an invoice after the service was done which was great! I really love being able to pay monthly and get oil changes whenever I need, the price is so reasonable it makes it easy to take my car in. They dont have a waiting room so I would plan some other activity or have someone with you if you dont want to stay in that area, there are good restaurants and cafes close though!
I took my car in needing an immediate fix. These guys were thorough and I got a very complete report of all work that needed to be done, in addition to what I came in for, which was helpful. However, for the necessary repair, I was charged almost $1,000 for labor alone. The part cost about $250.On paper, these guys look thorough, convenient and cheap, but I highly advise being skeptical and having them break down your estimate--and possibly explaining why the cost of labor would be so expensive. If it is sounding unreasonably high like mine was, Id call around and get quotes of labor from others. Wish I had been less flustered when dealing with this unexpected fix.
Honest work as far as I can tell. They could have made up some story about my turn signal being out and how it would cost $100 to figure out why (true story) but they simply plugged it in all the way and it was fixed. Boom. I always bring my car here.
I went in with a coupon for a free oil change, and was greeted with enthusiasm. I really enjoyed talking to the employees about my vehicle. They gave me advice about a few concerns I had with zero pressure. I will definitely come back when I have an issue because I trust they will fix what is needed and wont hassle me
UPDATE: Shortly after posting my original review, Mike from the Moreland location called me and offered to take another look with no charge until the issue was diagnosed. I still wound up paying a lot of money for a relatively simple repair (replacing O2 sensor) but I’m just glad to have some resolution here. Thanks Mike.Original review:I really wanted to like Green Drop because of their eco-conscious approach and inclusive hiring practices. However, the service I received here was awful. I brought my car in with a check engine light and was told they would call me before doing any work that I would be billed for. Instead, they ran a full diagnostic, charged me $140 for it, and then said there was no check engine light and no issue with the car. When I called back after the Check Engine light came back on, they told me I would have to pay $150 for yet another diagnostic test just to find out whats going on. In the infinite wisdom of George W. Bush, Fool me once, shame on you, fool me... I wont get fooled again. AVOID.
Always friendly, fast, and thorough! Not to mention theyre environmentally friendly, which should count for a lot these days. I have the Car Care Membership, and while their pricing can be on the expensive side, being a member is a fantastic deal when it comes to the basics (which includes unlimited oil changes, fluid top-offs, wiper and bulb replacements, tire rotations, complete vehicle inspection with notes/pictures, etc). Its more than worth the $15 a month it costs, as long as you visit regularly, like a good car owner should 😉. So, if their inspection reveals other problems, simply take it somewhere else for that specific work. (Keep in mind that they dont offer the same membership deal if you use the car for Lyft/Uber.)Not sure about other locations, but the Central one is great about working around busy schedules, as theyre willing to leave your car in their parking lot across the street if you cant pick it up before they close for the day (and they shut/lock the front gate).
Really friendly service and honest advice.
This shop is amazing because first of all its ECO-friendly! I had amazing customer service right off the bat. Cant recall his name but the office worker gave a thorough explanation about the monthly membership they encourage - which provides light replacements, fluid fill ups, small maintences for only $15/month. I drive my car 40hrs/week and subscribed to the $25/month which is already so much better than what Ive been paying with jiffy lube or going to Orielys and doing it myself. Got an oil change, brake fluid, windshield wipers replaced for a total of $136. Super fast, easy service. Will make another review for the next visit 😊
I cannot recommend Green Drop Garage enough! I love coming here. They always do a great job, the system to set up appointments and stay updated are very streamlined, and to top it all off- everyone that works here is super friendly. As someone who knows nothing about cars, it can be intimidating to take my car to garage. But at Green Drop, I feel like I am just talking to neighbors in my community :)Thank you Green Drop!
Way overpriced just to look at your truck $150 a hour crazy
The folks were nice, but the knowledge of the guy who inspected my truck was vastly disappointing. On 7/6/19 I took my 98 Toyota Tacoma in for an inspection that a prospective buyer arranged. Upon completion, the guy(I wish I could remember his name) goes through a list of things that were “Wrong” with my truck. The list was rather long for a truck with only 52,xxx miles on it. I didnt let the small stuff bother me because after all, it is a 21 year old truck. But then he claimed the engine had a rod knock, and would need to be replaced/repaired eventually. I actually debated this with him because I knew he was incorrect. I have been an avid car enthusiast for the better part of 20 years, and while I dont do it for a living... this isnt my first rodeo. Afterwards, I consulted with a couple trusted mechanic friends with decades of experience and continuing education, and they confirmed my suspicion that this dude was incorrect. In addition, the engine in my truck is so quiet you cant even hear it going down the road with the radio off, or idling in the driveway. To further my disappointment, when I got home to address the belts he claimed were about to “Snap”, I saw that with the exception of the AC belt having a few minor cracks... they were all in great shape. I went into this expecting a few minor things potentially needing done, but never would have thought it would have been this off base. This really put me in a situation that I couldnt win with the potential buyer. Here I am, a dude selling a truck and they are told by the “Mechanic” that the truck will need all this work. Needless to say, they passed on the truck which isnt the end of the world. But what ticks me off is that it was all because of bad info from a bad/inexperienced mechanic.
Great customer service however my oil change price was a bit over the top in my opinion. I paid around $120 for an oil change for a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. Thats a bit steep for an oil change. I was really due for one and was on a schedule crunch therefore I sucked it up but I definitely wouldnt do it again.
Its a great spot to change your oil and have minor repairs done if you sign up for the yearly membership. But if you have anything majorly wrong with your car they get overpriced. They are just slightly cheaper than going to a dealership and sometimes that has been an exception too.
Went in for inner tie rod replacement, they ended up doing the outer as well at no charge. While waiting I mentioned that my radio had been locked due to dead battery and the woman at the counter went to extra lengths to crawl behind the radio and find my serial number and reset my radio while the rest of the work was being done. Also their $15/month oil change plan is well worth it.
These guys are great! Ive used both their locations. They have fantastic customer service. So far for oil-changes only, but Ill be taking my Toyota here for my 90k service soon.
My new favorite oil change spot in Portland! Schedule an appointment online, chill around the corner at a brewery or White Owl, get a call an hour later when youre ready. Everyone was low-key yet friendly and knowledgeable about my car and offered some practical advice for work Ill need before the winter hits. Felt a lot more sincere than that Henry place. Go here!
Top notch! Geoff is awesome... Honest, fair and friendly. They arent here to rip you off. Seldom will you find a shop like this. I even have a warranty for the starter they replaced... Nationwide. Ive found a home for my auto repairs. Thanks, Green Drop Crew! 👍✌️
Amazing mechanic that won’t disappoint! Absolutely the best. Their prices are also the best. Keep it up guys!!!
Holy overpriced service, Batman! Went in for an oil change and was told my brake pads needed replacing, so I said, yep, go ahead at 365.00..That was just the front ones! Les Schwab charges less for all four! Feeling pretty butt hurt on this visit.
Very friendly, quick, and professional ... plus free beverages. Ill definitely be back.
Great experience, they were friendly and helpful, and got my car in and out same day. I really appreciated the job they did. They will be my first call with anything auto related. Thanks again!
I cant say enough good things about this place! This is the first place I have taken my car where I truly feel like I can trust their judgement. They are always so kind and helpful. My mirror was smashed a few weeks ago and the silver lining to having to get it fixed what knowing that I get to spend a little bit of my day at Green Drop. I love supporting this business! They are wonderful!
Absolutely horrible. Tried to con my friends out of thousands. Sprayed the brakes with oil and said it was a leak. Qouted hundreds higher than any other shop. Absolute scumbags. Wouldnt give the keys back to the car when they tried to leave. Will report to the BBB if they are members.Update all my friends needed was front brake pads and the oil that was sprayed on the rear brakes cleaned off.
These guys are professionals. They do their job and they do it with pride.
PLEASE do not bring your car here. I do not want anyone to have the terrible experience that we had at green drop garage. We brought our honda Civic in for front brakes. The salesman working the front was pleasant at first. He looked at our car and quoted us $1200 .. for brakes!!! Not to mention quoted $220 for a spark plug!!!! Outlandish. We obviously werent going to pay that insane price. We asked him to put the wheels back on so we could go. He became very pushy and said the tires are already off you might as well just get the brakes done, I shouldnt even let you leave etc etc. They also lost our keys and charged us $36 for that ridiculous quote. Do not make our mistake- dont go here!Edit: I was 100% a customer here, although I wish I hadnt been. You gave me a kombucha while you sprayed oil on my breaks then proceeded to charge me $36. I wish I would have read the reviews before I came because its clear by your unprofessional and disrespectful responses that youre a poor business owner.
WOW! I Just got off the phone with Stacey, and even though he wasnt the right fit for me, he offered recommendations and gave me a referral to someone else. He was open and told me to call him if I ever wanted to pick his brain! I hope someday Ill drive a car that he specializes in just so that I can use him as a mechanic.
Great service, and reasonable prices.
Friendly Staff, Complementary local kombucha, beer and seltzer. What more is there to say. Oh yea they go above and beyond too take care of their customers and community.
Good experiences so far. They provide comprehensive, emailed receipts with lots of info about needs and repairs.
I always feel taken care of by the folks at Green Drop. Its easy to schedule appointments and theyre friendly and welcoming. Recently I had a part replaced in my car that I thought was going to be very expensive, but they were able to find a deal on the part and the whole job ended up costing half of what I originally thought it would. If I ever need to take my car back for an issue that theyve already worked on, any additional work they do is never charged to me. Recently they even fixed a part of my car preventatively to (hopefully) prevent an issue from reoccurring.
You dont tell this customer to step aside because you think the guy in line behind me is in a hurry (and youre prioritizing his time over mine). Ill take my business elsewhere from now on.
These guys are consistently good. Integrity and good workmanship. I dont need more than that out of repair shop and Green Drop has it in spades.
Green Drop definitely doesnt have a friendliness issue, but it does unfortunately have a competency issue. Maybe its all that nicety that blocks the flow of communication. You have to pay a lot for their incompetence, but the chill vibes are totally free, bro!Short Version: I came in having already identified the problem with my car. I was then charged for Green Drops incorrect diagnosis, & told that I should pay for them to pursue further incorrect avenues of investigation until their Master Technician could figure out what I had already told them. Green Drops mechanics didnt listen to or seem interested in my description of the problem my car was having. They wanted to slowly, expensively discover it for themselves. I didnt bite. We took it to another shop who quickly and correctly fixed it.I emailed Green Drop about my experience, & they responded by reciting a bunch of garbage about their wonderful, excellent business practices, and, while not admitting fault, they offered me a free oil change. I told them to shove it.Whole Story: The car was suddenly having trouble starting, but only when it was completely cold --like if it had been sitting overnight. It could take ten minutes of cranking to start, and drain the battery in the process. But, the car started totally fine if it had been running in the past couple of hours.I have an OBD scanner, so I looked, and it was throwing a new code for the coolant temperature sensor (CTS).I read about this problem for my model, & other owners described the same symptoms. I considered replacing the $15 sensor myself. I watched a YouTube video, & was confident that I could remove a couple of things from the top of my engine block to reach the sensor, but a little less confident that I would put them back in the right way. So, I brought the car in to Green Drop to get the CTS replaced.I was told there would be a $120 diagnostic fee. Okay...sure, thats why I brought it in rather than rely on my amateur opinion, right? Later on the phone, Green Drop tells me the battery needs to be replaced, & the car has four trouble codes, for which just the diagnosis would be another $120 *each* (an additional $480). But, they said, replacing the battery should fix the problem.I already knew two of the codes related to evaporative purge flow (which reclaims gasoline as it evaporates in the gas tank) & the catalytic converter, longstanding issues with this car which wouldnt prevent the engine from starting in the cold. Then there was the CTS, & a fourth one that didnt show up on my own scanner related to the ignition and engine speed. (Later I found out this last one was probably due to the engine misfiring *because of* the faulty CTS.)I said to go ahead & replace the battery, if you think that will fix it, but dont go diagnosing anything else just yet. The work was done. On picking up the car, I was told again that the battery had probably (95% sure) been the source of the issue. Gosh, they were nice.Next morning tho, sure enough, the cold engine wont start. On calling back, I was told it *still* probably wasnt the coolant temperature sensor, but it was probably related to the ignition. But why would the ignition work just fine unless its cold? How much would it cost to just replace the coolant temperature sensor, anyway? $357 to cover diagnosis and replacement, but that probably isnt the problem. What about it, exactly, remains to be diagnosed? In the meantime, my girlfriend had called another shop and been quoted $159 to replace the sensor. We went to the other shop (Precision Motor Care), had the CTS replaced, & now the car reliably starts just fine in the cold.If I had kept the car at Green Drop, the coolant temp sensor would have been at least the third (or fourth?) thing to get fixed.Of course, Im giving Green Drop the benefit of the doubt and assuming they were simply mistaken. The less charitable interpretation would be they were mistaken on purpose. Ill never know if that battery really needed to be replaced, but Im glad I got the car out when I did.
They take care of my car and let me know what is up with the parts that need replacing. The monthly membership is worth it for the oil change and labor.
Great customer service, mechanics, value. All around one of the best oil changes in town!
If I could give 0 stars, I would. The first few times I went in here, I was impressed with their customer service and seeming thoroughness and knowledge. Then, I discovered that they were either not thorough in their brake inspection or in describing their brake inspection to us. We left thinking that our brakes were in good shape only to later find out that the inner brake pads were wearing down more than the outer brake pads, which led to what I believe was a dangerous situation for my family that could have been avoided. If they had simply told us that they didnt do a thorough brake inspection, rather than telling us the brakes had been inspected, we would have gotten them checked sooner. Needless to say, I am very frustrated and angry with what i perceive to be their lack of responsibility in the situation.Judging from the other reviews on here, its looking like Im not the only one with this type of experience. I also spent a good deal of time on the phone with a positive attitude and nice communication about the situation before I got upset with their lack of responsibility and trying to tell me that its just a normal situation people encounter with brakes. Ive never encountered this with brakes when you get good advice about when to replace them!MY RESPONSE TO FARHADS COMMENTS:In fact, I never threatened a negative review. I only posted my review after my experience so that others would be informed of the incident and can make an informed choice about whether to go to your garage.Im told by other mechanics that the car was DANGEROUS to drive at 2mm AND it was already being fixed when your shop offered to look at it. In fact, when we called the Friday before to ask if it was safe to drive, your garage advised that it was safe to drive. I wasnt about to take it away from the shop that was already helping us and give it to you when that trust was already lost.I merely asked for minor compensation us for the distress and inconvenience that your garage caused us. Instead, Im being treated like Im unreasonable.Ill be interested to see the documents you have about my inspection.
Was in after getting a membership to have them look at a couple things. I told them where the 3 problems were and they proceeded to take 3 hours to check out 2 obvious problems (that should take from 5-20 minutes to diagnose) and 1 harder problem (maybe an hour to an hour and a half to diagnose). After charging $180 per hour to diagnose (their going rate) they quoted me about 2,000 in repair costs! The car is worth about 1500...Long story short I took it to an actual mechanic who fixed the whole thing for less than 400. I get that they are a premium service but charging about 5x the actual cost of the repairs? Give me a break.Gave them a 2nd star because even though they would not rebate the diagnostic cost they did reach out on their own to check on me after. Good people, probably good mechanics, terrible value NOT at all worth it. I would use them for the oil changes and light changes ONLY.
Great shop for all car care!!
These folks have been good to me through multiple vehicles & many years. I never take my van anywhere else!
My 2000 Eurovan broke down on a weekend. I was supposed to leave the next weekend on a week-long road trip and my regular mechanic couldn’t get me in, so I called Green Drop Monday morning. Green Drop’s first opening was Thursday at 8:00a. I explained the problem and that I was leaving on a road trip the next weekend and was nervous about not getting it in until Thursday. Green Drop explained that Eurovan parts were easy to get so they didn’t think there would be a problem with getting it fixed before the weekend. I even stopped by their shop on Tuesday and talked to the person at their front desk who assured me that they worked on Eurovans a lot and it shouldn’t be a problem to get it fixed.I dropped it off at 8:00a that Thursday. Their service guy, Noe, called me at around noon on and said the computer showed that 3 cylinders were misfiring. They ran a “block test” on it which turned out fine, but they couldn’t determine why it was misfiring. and they would need to schedule time the following week to look into it more. I explained that I had told them I needed it by the weekend when I made the reservation and was told it wouldn’t be a problem. He said he would try to spend some more time on it before the end of the day and he would call me.I didn’t hear anything that day and went there at 8:30a the next morning. My van was parked in the lot – not in a bay. They hadn’t done anything else to it. I paid for the hour of diagnostic work they had done and took the van to my regular mechanic. The next week when my regular mechanic could look at it, they determined that the van just had some bad spark plugs. They replaced the spark plugs and it fixed the problem. So, I don’t really know how good the mechanics at Green Drop are. I just know that they make false promises and don’t follow-through with what they say they will.
I really like these guys. Quick service, good work and trustworthy.
Im a fairly new customer, but Ive been impressed with the inspections and I like that the use the good oil for their oil changes!
Great deals and offers, wonderful staff, and the membership program is fantastic.
This place is the best just took their $40 crash course in car maintenance and repair I feel like I know enough now to go out and buy used car without getting jipped
These guys rock......Completely took care of my car and me while I was there.
I had amazing service, everyone was professional and very nice, and I got a local beer at the end of it all. Car trouble is terrible, but these guys were great about it.
Stopped by at last minute for belt/oil change and was squeezed in.Email updates on progress. Nice staff
I took my car to Green Drop after I had a bad experience with my VW dealership. I felt like I was being overcharged at the dealership and had a friend recommend Green Drop to have a 2nd opinion. They were so great. They talked me through everything they were going to check on and ended up finding the problem was something entirely different than what the dealership had told me. It was a 1/3 of the cost to fix as what was originally quoted at the dealership! The guys at the shop were amazing, great customer service and made me feel valued as a customer. Ill go back here everytime.
This shop is great. The people are knowledgeable, friendly, and they do a great job!
Great team
Always friendly and knowledgeable. I trust the Green Drop folks, which is more than I can say about other Garages.
Really well versed but really overpriced. Will not be going here again.
Nosebleed high prices for work on a gm product, I can get the same work done at half their quote.
Took my Subaru in to get the power steering looked at (they did fix this by replacing the serpentine belt), they then proceeded to tell me other things wrong with the car totaling $5,000+. I took the car to a Subaru dealer I trust for a second opinion with the list of issues green drop had given me, the Subaru dealer couldnt find anything wrong with the car.
Mama always said if you dont have something nice to say.....
Great deals on wheels
Great mechanics, great deals
No other garage Id visit.
