A lot of employees on the floor to help you choose what you need some don’t have much knowledge in most of stuff they sell. Careless on loading the kayak n dont brother to ask for help they have a policy no helping allowed. They managed to scratch car paint while loading it on the mount they sold us. Very disappointed with service over all. I don’t recommend this location.

Unbelievably bad service today. The store wasn’t busy. We asked for help 3 times. Once an employee asked if we needed help and then ditched us to help another employee with their customer. Other employees standing around chatting with each other ignoring us. We walked out 30 minutes later. Went to Andy and Bax got what we needed and were done in 15 minutes. Do better!

I just purchased two 13ft Hobie Revolution Kayaks from Next Adventure Paddle in Portland and without question the experience from start to finish was 100% excellent. The very knowledgeable and professional sales team answered the countless questions I asked of them with patience and kindness. Kudos to Kate, Sara, Iris, for all their help on the phone. (Please forgive misspelled names)Then I went down to pick up the Kayaks from Seattle and once again was met (at curbside) with the nicest and helpful staff Ive ever encountered. Perhaps a sign of what Portland hospitality is all about?, I love it here ! They assisted and provided me with methods for how to best secure the kayaks on my car and even allowed me a last minute color change on one of the kayaks I bought. The experience was a delight and what was even cooler is I felt a shared level of excitement for my picking up my new kayaks almost as if they were getting them for themselves..This is a team that believes in their products 100% and you should feel confident they will always be there for your questions or product support well after a sale.This I can guarantee as I had a small issue with one of the Mirage peddle drives that had not been updated with the required part upgrade after a recall from Hobie. I contacted Curtis at The Paddle Center and he immediately arranged to have a new drive put aside for me with the updates to exchange. He and his team are what customer service is all about.They went above and beyond to assist me and as a result of this, I knew I had a responsibility to share my experience, my gratitude and thanks for all that they did. Thank you or the kindness, professionalism and knowledge and for believing in and standing by your products ... Thank you all 🙏❤️😁

No integrity from this business. Do not trust them. We ordered two Hobie Mirage Compasses from Next Adventure back in March. We paid upfront, close to $5,000 for both. The kayaks took 5 months to arrive; repeated requests for updates on arrival went unanswered - we were blown off over and over again. Now that the kayaks have finally arrived, one of them has a broken rudder. Next Adventure must have known this because the rudder drum was detached and taped to the hull. No mention of the problem when we arrived to pick them up. We discovered it after we brought it home. The kayak is unusable as is. The authorized repair shop is in Bellingham WA, four hours away, which we will probably have to provide transportation. There are other Hobie dealerships in Portland. You will avoid a lot of anger if you avoid Next Adventure

I can not give these guys enough stars for the service and the knowledge these folks have. I was greeted immediately upon entering the store and was helped immediately. I explained what I was looking for which was Nucanoe Frontier 12 and they set me up with Aaron who is a rockstar and wealth of knowledge !!! He went through the kayak with me determined my needs and answered all of my questions. He set everything up for me and customized the kayak for me as well. He then walked me through everything I would need. Everyone in the store was great from the staff and even the other customers. A great experience!!! I will definitely be back and I am driving from Eugene.

We rented 3 tandem inflatable canoes. Everyone was very helpful and knowledgeable. I thought the prices were very reasonable -- and nobody nickel and dimed us for PFDs or paddles, etc.The shop was very well stocked and we found some very reasonably priced dry bags. I loved looking around and exploring all those paddling related goodies.I will certainly return. Great alternative to REI.

I recently demoed and then purchased a brand new whitewater kayak from Next Adventure. All of the staff were super helpful and very knowledgeable. They quickly got me set up with my demo and when I returned the boat, they patiently answered all of my questions. It was an excellent experience and with all the information in hand, I was able to purchase my new kayak!The great thing about the staff at Next is that they are willing to answer follow up questions and provide advice about outfitting. I have since hit them up a couple of times and the information they have provided has been super helpful.Given that I live 2.5 hours away, I sometimes purchase equipment via their website. Again, the service is always super timely.Ive been visiting and shopping at Next since I started kayaking 10 years ago. It will always be my first stop when shopping for kayaking gear and boats. This is the 3rd kayak I have purchased from them. Thank you everyone at Next!

I heard that these guys had poor service, but I think it depends on who they think you are or what you look like. Im out of shape right now. So how were they to know that I had a 1200 dollar kayak/fitness budget that I wanted to spend at their establishment when they chose to ignore and put their noses up at me? Im a long time raft guide/kayak instructor who recently moved back to Portland after a 5 year hiatus. I used to love going into NA for any little paddle related thing I needed because the customer service was excellent and I really prefer to support local businesses when I can.I recently heard a rumor that they would be getting more Pyranha kayaks in so I have gone in 3 times in the last 10 days and have been incredibly disappointed with the service. Each time, I spend 10-15 minutes walking around and looking to see if the new boats are in/ shopping to see if there was anything I needed/ wanted. I havent even been acknowledged with a nod or smile despite a relatively quiet store and multiple staff members floating around. Today, I was looking for a PFD for a friend and rather than help me find a suitable one, the staff member I talked to gave me a two word answer to my question and walked away. I understand times are weird, but I also know what its like to work in customer service and my experiences the last few times have made me feel like I want to look elsewhere for my future kayak purchase, even if it means going to Seattle.

Almost died, lost my kayak. I remember them asking for my number making a promise to go kayaking with me. Never happened and was only done for small talk to sell me the stuff quicker. Not buying from them again because I was rushed. No one wanted to go with me kayaking or give me some advice and I lost my very expensive kayak.

Its a good store, and the staff does everything they can to try to help you.

Great service, great prices and have lots of choices

I may be Type A in all sorts of ways, but I am a major procrastinator around the holidays. I just have way too much on my plate and tend to start holiday shopping really late. And in an effort to avoid the malls, I went to Next Adventure to load up on outdoor gear for the family.Ive been to Next Adventure a few times during the past year and am sort of luke warm on the place. I find it a bit cluttered and disorganized and if I had small children with me, the chances of losing them among the racks would be high. [1]But then as I was leaving the store, I noticed that they moved their water sports merchandise to a separate building called the Next Adventure Paddle Sports Center. The store is spacious, the closeout deals are excellent and the staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I was amazed at how different my experience was from my dealings at their main store. They are especially wonderful if you paddle on a dragon boat team.So what started off as a ho-hum lets get this over with shopping trip, turned into one of the highlights of the season. Since my family spends a lot of time on the water and our boats outnumber our cars, this is pretty much my idea of retail heaven. They told me this is a temporary location, so theyll be moving to new digs in the vicinity early in 2010. Paddle on, boys, paddle on![1] Btw, this totally happens. Kids love to walk under and through racks and when I was young my parents lost me for hours when I wandered off and decided to take a nap underneath a sea of comforters.

Fantastic customer service purchasing my first kayak! Aaron, Nick and all the staff I worked with over several visits were super professional, knowledgeable and patient. They helped me narrow it down by my intended use and sent me to the Scappoose Bay Paddling Center to demo some models. I purchased 2 kayaks and they walked me through options for paddles, PFDs and other accessories, answering all my questions and giving welcomed feedback and opinions on what might work best for me. Been out on the lake a couple times and very happy with everything. The whole experience was A+ and 5/5!

Next Adventure goes Above and beyond. I purchased my New canoe pursuit fishing kayak here At a great deal! I couldn’t be happier with their service and knowledge. I Bought a nice fishing paddle as well and unfortunately lost half of it on a recent camping trip. I went back to buy a replacement and not only did they find me an awesome paddle but cut me a great deal on a more expensive paddle than the one I got first and lost.! shout out to Iris and Karina for being awesome, they really know their stuff and are great to talk too. I will always shop here for my adventures.

I cant say enough good things about Next Adventure! Ive been shopping here for more than ten years and they never disappoint. We just purchased two kayaks and paddles from the paddle center. Covid times are different, which makes browsing the options in-store a little less appealing. We felt some pressure to get in and out which is understandable. I would suggest getting on their website and calling to see if they have boats in stock that you like to narrow it down before going in to shop and get that expert advice that weve all come to know and trust. Sometimes I (want to) forget its not normal times and I appreciate these guys holding the line to do what they can to keep us safe and healthy. Thanks for the great boat advice!

I would have been an easy sale... Needed a replacement pair of sunglasses since I lost my good ones. Heard two salespeople in the store but received no greeting or acknowledgment of any kind, stood at the cash register, item in hand, for 15 minutes before trying to walk that maze of a store one more before I left. There are other sporting goods stores that will offer better service, I suggest trying one of them first

Ive stopped by a few times, and have always been helped promptly and found what I was looking for. Today in particular Ben was fantastic when I had way too many questions about whitewater helmets.

I purchased a Tarpon 120 from this company while in quarantine. They shipped it allllll the way to Nashville, TN for me and it came in a timely manner and without a single scratch. The packaging was amazing! My husband ordered from a different company and his came damaged, so we were worried. When mine arrived from Next Adventure, we were so impressed with how they took the time to make sure my kayak would arrive in perfect condition. Not only that, the free shipping (only on certain models and not sure how long this will be relevant, fyi) and no sales tax saved me around $300 compared to other sites. I would give 100 stars if I could! Thanks for helping me make my upcoming summer a great one!

All of the staff is very helpful and friendly. One of the employees, Andrew spent extra time helping me with making my kayak fit more comfortably. He even hosed my kayak off for me as Im mobility impaired, and dont have a yard. I always get a welcoming vibe here.

This place is top notch, and awesome contrast with Andy and Bax close by which i also love as the worlds largest show room of inflatable river rafting equipment.Went in here looking to fit into hard shell whitewater kayaks, which i have never been able to fit until recently. They were awesome!Huge selection of boats and gear. Tried on a dozen or more boats. Demo selection was awesome. You get 5 free demos a year. Awesome. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and busy; but NOT condescending. Everyone was thoughtful and friendly. Definitely willing to buy new from these guys when i find the right boat(s).

Very helpful staff took the time to answer all of my questions and explain the benefits of merchandise at different price points. Plenty of new kayaks on display and a few used and blemished models as well. A rack attack store is located within and can offer options for carrying or trailering your new toy.

I bought a kayak that was absolutely the wrong boat for me. Imagine a woman choosing small sexy shoes when she really needed large orthopedic shoes. My wife said she couldnt even bear to watch me in the little boat. It looked like I was going to capsize continuously. They let me bring it back. They let me try (for free) demo boats until I found one that would work for me. They charged me a 10% restock fee since they couldnt sell the boat as new. They could have charged me 20% but chose not to. The boat I choose is the green one in the picture. I spoke with several employees in the store over a few days. It is really a nice bunch of people that work there and they understand and use the products they sell. I cant recommend them enough.

Very helpful. Cashier walked back with me to find the part I was looking for. Also I liked that the other cashier noticed I had bought the last one in the store and was immediately arranging to have more sent over from the warehouse.

INCREDIBLE service! Every person who helped us purchase a paddle board was very knowledgable about their product and were very honest to us. They told us what was worth the money and what wasnt. Dan and Nick, along with multiple other employees took time to answer all of our questions and were patient with my wife and I who were pretty needy. The NA paddle center gets first shot at my business from here until infinity! I bought my kayak at next adventure. Every year they put on a kayak and paddleboard demo testing on a nearby lake or river. This is how we came to like are tandem kayak which we purchased with the discount that they offered for coming out to try the kayak. Keep a lookout for the special events as its good to try out the equipment if possible before you purchase. Their store offers clothes and other accessories that you need for being on the water

The best and most complete padding store in the PDX area, great selection of new and used boats and gear. plus a big rental fleet. They sponsor clinics and have lessons for all skill levels, top notch instructors and staff and a great online store as well. Centrally located in the near eastside of Portland, they are everthing and more youd want and expect from a paddling store.
