Missionary Chocolates creates top quality chocolate treats that are great for self gifts or to give as a yummy present! They craft them fresh in small batches, are dairy-free (more happy cows), and they give back to the local community! Chocolate covered oreos were such a treat, as well as their mint, raspberry, and dark chocolate salted caramel truffles!!

The chocolates at Missionary Chocolates were incredible. We love good chocolates and these were some of our most favorites of all time. You can tell the person who created these definitely knows how to blend the right ingredients to create the superior chocolates Missionary has. Shop was set up nicely and they have a few other types of products. Very helpful staff.

A lot of soul goes into those chocolates. A lot of cocoa but a lot of soul, too. Not to say that they arent vegan, they are! Look past the t-shirts in the window and the neighborhood digs and youll find the best chocolates in town.

Ive only been in here as a delivery driver but Im positive this is a solid spot.The store is as clean, organized, and inviting as the staff that run it. So inviting, in fact, that theyve offered a little treat every now and again so I can say their product follows through as well. Theyve nailed the dairy-free science which I didnt even realize until later. Vegan food will always be a compromise to me but this doesnt live in that world at all.From everything I can tell, theyre exactly the people you want to give your money to for this.Hats off, guys.

I’m always looking for “real” chocolate in Portland, and Missionary Chocolates delivered! The chocolate is natural and rich, they have many flavors from coffee to earl grey, from lavender to cardamon and more. It’s great for yourself or for a sweet gift! I wasn’t familiar with Missionary Chocolate and Kerstin walked me through the history of the brand and their delicious chocolate. We sampled many flavors and the chocolatier was making some marshmallow chocolate and gave them to us to try. Just writing about it I am salivating! The insides of these truffles are soft and ganache-y and kinda perfect. Im so glad I finally stopped in. The employee who helped me was super kind and enthusiastic; she encouraged me to taste everything I picked out and then some! Great selection and everything is vegan, gluten free, and nut free. I was pretty excited about the Meyer lemon and the lavender especially but everything I tried was seriously awesome.

I love Missionary Chocolates. The staff is kind and patient with you. They offer samples of all of the chocolates you are interested in, before you buy them, so that you can know how delicious they are. They are pricey but they are unique specialty chocolates that you wont find anywhere else. The owner is a lovely lady who has 3 children, so to me that makes it more special and gives me a better reason to spend the extra money on chocolate. I am a mother of 4 children so she inspires me to chase my dreams. I love unique delicious chocolate and I respect her. You should try it at least once. I know that these prices arent good for unemployed people because you can buy a pack of socks or underwear for the price of 2 chocolates or even just 1 chocolate. But if you are employed its great.

The staff is pretty informative - theyll inform the entire process of how the chocolate is made to you if you ask them. The list of products is very small, however, the chocolate is very good quality. I ordered a cold hot chocolate to go, and it didnt disappoint.

They have the best chocolates, truffles, I have ever had. They are all vegan and they come up with fantastic new flavors each year. But I love their Myer lemon and their raspberry the best. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They also let you try the flavors of you are new to them or if you want to branch out.

Cute little shop with wide variety of flavors to choose from, you can try as many as you want. Its great to have a vegan option in chocolates. Personally, I will take time acquiring the taste of dairy free chocolate, and Missionary is a great option. Champagne truffle was especially good.

Having previously patronized Missionary Chocolates in person, and entirely falling in love with their glorious truffles, I jumped at the chance to stock up when they had a 50% off sale at the start of COVID craziness. This was near ridiculous, as their generously sized chocolates are already a great deal at around $3.50-$4 each. I ordered one of every flavor in stock, plus chocolate covered potato chips, chocolate covered sandwich cookies, and a sugar free lemon bar as a keto gift (sweetened with monk fruit). They have other offerings like chocolate covered marshmallows and cinnamon bears (I wanted these, but sadly they were out), and gift-y stuff like a locally made skincare set.MCs truffles are vegan, though you would never know it. I am not vegan, and like them just as well (often more!) than similar ones made elsewhere. Flavors are not bashful. They are bold and proud of it! I find this particularly noticeable for those containing alcohol. I think it may be more apparent to me as I generally do not imbibe, but just be aware that they aint messing around! With that said, I cannot resist the citrusy, sparkling champagne Mimosa flavor. There are some standards always on offer, along with seasonal varieties. A few of my other favorites are:Peppermint - Attractively wrapped in bright emerald foil, refreshing and cool, but not overpowering. A paragon of mint chocolate perfection.Earl Grey - The bergamot is a DREAM.Cookies N Cream - So crunchy and exactly how you would hope it would taste.Missionary does fruity flavors beautifully. I particularly adore balsamic fig, elderberry, raspberry, pomegranate, and strawberry.CBD truffles have a different filling than the standard square ones: a bit more melty, with a rich and luxurious mouth feel. I would absolutely order these again, as, if you are going to eat chocolate, you may as well get the benefits of CBD, too!Because I got a little out of control, I froze about half of my chocolates. They held up well, and while the filling might not be quite as luscious, I do not feel that they have altered much. Lastly, there was a small error with my order, but when I let the owner, Melissa, know, she remedied it post haste.If I lived in Portland, I would appear here monthly. As it is, I will satisfy myself with the occasional online order. Take advantage of such close proximity to a wonderful chocolate shop if you are lucky enough to reside in that glorious city, otherwise follow my suit and treat yourself to a shipment of these delicious goodies.

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon to buy a gift for friends. Found a wonderful assortment of flavors and was able to sample several. Absolutely delicious!!! And the service was excellent! Definitely will be back!

This is the best chocolate in town! All chocolate is vegan, but as smooth and silky as any milk chocolate. The flavor options are vast with lots of seasonal options. Make sure to try the Meyer lemon and the salted caramel.

This is my ALL TIME FAVORITE chocolate place. I send these home as gifts every year and they’re a hit. I even brought boxes of truffles to India and Sri Lanka to give to my host families and they LOVED them!Honestly, Missionary Chocolates is one of my favorite businesses in Portland. The truffles are fresh, unique, incredibly flavorful and so satisfying! As if that wasn’t enough the owners and staff are always so warm, welcoming and friendly. Plus, free samples! Really amazing chocolate shop. My fiancé is both gluten and dairy free so these are her favorites because she can eat all of them. It doesnt hurt that they are also delicious AND if you bring in a reused box of theirs then they take off a dollar or so from your order. LOVE these chocolates and so grateful for the fact that they are dairy free. I live in Seattle and thought I could get them up here for Valentines day... nope! I called the store to see if I could get expedited shipping and spoke with the owner. I received awesome customer service! She was honest, gave me advice, and didnt make any promises she wasnt positive she could keep. In this one interaction she has created a lifelong customer. The staff was so welcoming and friendly and it really compliments the chocolates they make. CBD chocolates are currently just dark chocolate but they will be sampling flavors for the CBD truffles. I really enjoyed their lavender chocolate, very subtle yet so unique. I tried the Meyer Lemon flavor and I wasnt a huge fan but was still impressed on how well the flavors go together. I recommend coming here for a fresh chocolate taste, they are happy to give you samples and their pricing is very fair.

The owner Melissa is extremely friendly and almost always lets me sample multiple types of her chocolates before I make my final purchase. I mean, its chocolate after all... but the customer service, quality product and pleasant experience make for a world class experience! Love their mission! Went in based off of their goal to uplift community and influence positive change for the planet through procedes from sustainable GF vegan chocolates. They let you taste any available chocolate, their prices are reasonable, and they have a friendly staff.The flavors were great, some of the flavors that are normally strong turned out to be more subtle than expected which was nice (like raspberry, lavender, and vanilla salted caramel). Different mix of flavors varied in strength and pungency...such as coffee or chai. It was definitely cacao forward. Would definitely go there again!

I like Missionary Chocolates a lot. Its like having a chocolate scented soap that you drunkenly taste once, and youre like, Its definitely soap, but it tastes like chocolate too. Worth it. I have a love/hate relationship with the Meyer Lemon Explosion one. Imagine someone accidentally spilling 2 tbsp of lemon scented Windex into a vat of vegan chocolate, but they didnt want to throw it out, so they attempted to mask the cleaning solution flavor with sugar.

Dont miss the Meyer Lemon flavored chocolate truffle. Its what made them famous. Bonus, all chocolates are vegan (but you will not notice anything missing because theyre that good).
