First off, coffee is awesome. The Nitro Cold Brew is smooth from start to finish. Secondly, the store front isnt open to the public right now, but they have order/pick-up windows on the side of the building. Which, honestly, I prefer. There is a small plaza with benches right there, so you can take a load off and relax while you sip.
My beautiful friend bought me a coffee & we spent the morning getting to know each other better 💕 Coffee was perfect...just like my friend
This used to be the place to go for a great cup of coffee in Portland. Stopped in over the weekend and the prices have gone up dramatically and the size coffee has shrunk. Top it off, they still are requiring masks even if you are ordering from their outside window….in the open air….if you’ve been vaccinated. Pass.
Great little coffee spot! Until they reopen for indoor seating, its nice to be able to sit in the park right next door.
I just finished what may be the best oat milk cappuccino I’ve ever had!! 🙌🙏 thank you to the fantastic barista that is knocking it out of the park behind the counter today, and to the rest of the friendly staff that’s tackling the crowd with ease and smiles!!Next time we’re in Portland wondering, “Where should we get coffee?” We’ll already have the answer!! See you next time Bard, and thanks for the great experience today!!
Really good coffee but really slow. 20 minutes for an iced coffee.
Cant go wrong with a light roast, cortado, or cold brew!
My wife loves Bard coffee. She gets the oat milk latte and really loves it.
Always prompt, excellent service, and delicious coffee. Love the courtyard
Not participating in their INSANITY. Will take my credit card but somehow cash is full of germs and not my card. Besides I dont want their overpriced coffee or food. Businesses aredriving 🚗their customers who have any sense away permanently. Furthermore, their online ordering apps they can shove where the sun dont shine.
Great coffee, fast service, lovely park setting. How can you beat that?
Cool spot right next to a park, but pricey for what you get.
Great coffee and friendly staff. The honey-lavender cappuccino was fantastic.
Love Bard coffee! Great place, great people, awesome drinks & goodies.
Beautiful little spot in the heat of Portland. Id go here every morning if I lived around the area.
Great coffee, friendly staff!
You cannot go to Portland and not have a cappuccino here at Bard, they were the highlight of my whole trip! worth driving 4 hours to get here and having this delicious coffee!!!!!!!!!
This is a very good coffee shop that isn’t overly different but still makes quality coffee. Their cuban espresso is very good. They also make very good lattes. There is plenty of seating inside and my only complaint is the fact that you have to ask for a key to use the restroom, which isn’t super sanitary to ahve to touch the key after washing your hands.
Nitro cold brew or regular cold brew are so so good! Order online if you’re not close so you don’t have to wait to order. They won’t make till you arrive though!
By far the best cappuccino and (dirty) chai latte (hot or cold) in the city, and possibly the state. While Im sad the cafe is closed right now, theyve done really well adapting to COVID with a walk up order and pick-up window, as well as online ordering. Worth the wait outside!
Great coffee, with nice non-dairy milk choices! Also, they have some flavors of vegan donuts in the morning, although they go fast some days! I also appreciate the ease of ordering, especially in these times when we have to limit contact. I used the walk up window and the website to order drinks on different days, and it was all so easy and fast!
This is what coffee is supposed to taste like.
Great coffee for anyone who wants something unique to Portland
Couldn’t mix ice tea and lemonade because the combination of items together is not on the menu. Won’t be going back.
Terrible customer service. Only one window and gentleman was rude.
Good coffee, but customer service is sometimes not too friendly. I like Arabica around the corner better.
🙌🏻 DEVINE COFFEE SPOT 🙌🏻
I got Ice soy vanilla latte. Authentic coffee taste. Cute little spot by the pick up window to enjoy. Service was great.
Great cappuccino and location was easy to walk to from hotel
The hipster baristas who took my order couldnt be bothered to be polite or make a good cup of coffee. Either of which would have been okay.
Excellent Vietnamese coffee!
Terrible… no line but took way too long, coffee is marginal and they out the lid on incorrectly so it spilled all over my hands.
I always get a good cup of coffee here. It can be busy here, but I almost always can find a seat. The service is always friendly and helpful. You can get drip coffee as well as a good selection of espresso. They have tasty pastries as well. I dont get down to the old port for a coffee, but this is usually where I head to when I need a coffee down there.
Great coffee!
I have been to their coffee truck by the Eastern Promenade at Fore Points Marina. Beautiful location by the beach!! Delicious coffee.
Two Vietnamese drinks 2 days of our trip. High quality coffee and lovely people. Highly recommended.
Truly excellent coffee!
Best chai latte I’ve EVER had
Best cup of coffee Ive had in Portland so far, blew tandem and coffee by design out of the water in terms of flavor and body. Nice little shop in the modern style, everyone behind the counter is super nice and pleasant, like they enjoy being there instead of forced to be there.Quickly becoming my go-to place for a good cup of coffee!
Really nice & friendly place - even the customers were friendly! Its very popular here, so be prepared to not have a place to sit. People like to work on their laptops and camp out at tables, so be aware. The coffee is excellent, and so are the Italian sodas.
Super tasty. Gotta love those locally owned rosters. They brew and sell single origin roasts, which are probably the smoothest I have tried in Portland proper. You can order any number of coffee or tea drinks, which are all tops. A black coffee here does not need to be drowned in dairy (or non dairy, of which there are plenty of options)to be palatable. In fact, dont. This place looms large over the corporate mermaid across the street, thats for certain.
Amazing cold brew. Prefect flavorings, highly recommend cold brew maple, and pumpkin with oat milk
Roasting Skills! 100% Super good coffee!
The coffee was good and we enjoyed this place. Wish we had stopped here the days prior since it was our favorite of the trip. Park right outside is very nice as well and a good spot to sit and relax with your coffee or food.
Delicious latte, subpar customer service.
The best coffee shop in Portlands Old Port. Incredible staff, they are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Would recommend going here over any other coffee shop in the Old Port. Great space to work, hang out and read, or just for a quick stop. Outdoor seating available in the summer months. Large open space with great natural light.
Nice place
One of the best nitro cold brews I’ve had.
Great hand crafted coffee and service. Served in an eclectic local vibe. Prices are reasonable for hand crafted coffee with a wide variety ranging from Cold Brew to Vietnamese coffee.
Great service. Snacks were good. Coffee was hot. Service was ok. It was clean. Need the key to use the bathroom. Needed a refill-- Id like better service walking around cleaning up, and refilling coffee for more of a cafe feeling.
Consistency and quality coffee is the real reason why I love this place so much. I can always count on my drink to be good. Also, I would say they have a drink for everyone. If you drink your coffee black, iced, super sweet, extra milk, tea, decaf, oat milk, whole milk, you name it... I think they have something for you.
Phenomenal staff! They always brighten my day. Best cortado and quick coffee in town. Highly recommend!
I was already a fan of Bard - but having just gone to their newly-opened Walk-Up Window, I love them even more. The baristas are always friendly and the coffee is always delicious!
They have the best hot chocolate Ive ever had so far
Dark roast’s are precarious. There’s a fine line between being thorough and burning the coffee. Many roasters understandably aim just shy of that line and serve a medium dark cup that maintains a certain level of acidity. If that’s what you like, great - but if you’re looking for a true dark roast, they do it right at Bard. I tried Coffee By Design, and Tandem. Both were great businesses, with thoughtful spaces: Bard just has a better dark roast. I can’t speak to the light-medium, but here in Portland, this is coffee the way I like it.
They make a DAMN fine cup of coffee.
Pros: Really incredible coffee quality. Espresso and milk quality were excellent. Colombian pour over was tasty too. Cafe was really clean and they were making an effort to keep it clean. Pastry items tasted good too.Cons: Customer service was pretty decent. Could be way better (more personable). They were kind of cold. Wait time for drinks was way too long! I waited 10 minutes for a cortado. Only one person working bar. Weird due to how busy this cafe is.Overall: Go for good coffee and decent service. Expect to wait for drink and enjoy it in a clean environment.
Good coffee in a cool little shop. Must be a favorite in Old Port because the place was hopping on a Tuesday afternoon. Large selection of coffees and ours was very good.
Great selection. Friendly service. Nice place with a cool vibe. I enjoyed their coffee of the day and it was delicious. Would visit again when in the area.
Great pour overs, baked goods, and some amazing chai. The place is an awesome spot to sit and just be, or grab a great drink and head out. I like the openness of the space too. A definite stop whenever youre in the city
Beautiful coffee shop. Very clean decor. Smiling baristas, who seem very genuine. Very accessible location. But, parking could be an issue. What about the coffee. Well, it was good. The atmosphere was more of business meeting vibe. So, not exactly a place to go for a relaxing break.
Excellent drip coffee!
Girl at the front counter taking orders (she was wearing an aloha shirt). Very friendly even though our interaction was short ☺️I ordered an Iced Chai. Very creamy & made quickly. I feel like it could have been shaken more because a lot of it was at the bottom. The interior was hip & warm💕We were recommended to come here for the Nitro Cold Brew which my husband ordered and enjoyed 👍🏼
Quickly became my favorite coffee shop in Portland ME. After trying them all, this one stood out to me for both its outstanding espressos and coffees. Typically, I like one or the other at a coffee shop, but they both were amazing! Love all the non dairy options too
Fantastic coffee in a bright, well-lit space. Theres plenty of seating to meet a friend and long, bar-style seating against the back wall with outlets to work (if needed). Theres usually a line because the coffee and espresso are such high quality, but it moves quickly!
A great local spot for coffee. Make sure if you order online you check in, because they don’t start your order until you check in at the window.
