Miss Zumstein is purely delightful to work with. She is calm, cool, and collected and brought our wedding cake to life. We appreciated their flexibility so much when deciding on our wedding cake and additional offerings. She worked with us to make a vegan olive cake that she had never made before so that we could offer something that was vegan but also one of our personal favorites (It was SO delicious and should be in her regular rotation!) She also added on a flourless chocolate cake last minute to offer to our GF guests. All of the cakes were dressed beautifully and with attention to our requests. We seriously appreciate that Miss Zumstein bakes with quality, seasonal, and local ingredients because it allows for the best flavors to shine through. We also chose to work with them because their recipes are not overrun with sugar, the subtle sweetness to each cake was so tasteful. We highly recommend working with Miss Zumstein for custom cakes, you will love what you see and taste!

My local go-to coffee shop, features solid drip coffee, plenty of pastry options, and a few more substantial meal items. Mid morning sun hits this cafe perfectly, so enjoying a meal or coffee on their outdoor seating is quite nice.The service workers are always friendly and attentive. A great example is I got a lunch special sandwich, and the lady was nice enough to throw in some freshly picked cherry tomatoes and sliced up strawberries. Those are the little things that keep me coming back.

Very friendly staff and our cakes were delicious! We reached out to the bakery a week before my son’s 1st birthday to have two cakes made. We were doing a Where the wild things are theme and wanted a little figurine on the cake. After we arrived home we realized the little figurine had broke (our fault). I knew the bakery was closing but a family member called anyways to see if there was anything we could do. They told us to come on down and they would fix it for us! When they were finished we asked how much it would be and they said “no charge!”. I’m so grateful for their kindness and helping this mama make her sons first bday that much sweeter!

I cant express how much we LOVE this place...and how delicious the birthday cake we ordered was!! They got the perfect strawberries from the FARMERS MARKET that morning for our cake filling. Such professionals! The filling was delicious and the icing was not too sweet and scrumptiously buttery. And must mention they were extremely patient and pleasent when I called back a number of times...up to the very day...changing what to write on the birthday cake. Wish I could eat their cakes every day, for every meal...but alas...life isnt always perfect.

I have tried most everything that they have to offer and have yet to be disappointed. Another highlight are their seasonal cheesecake bars-- strawberry cheesecake bar with a dense buttery crust in the summer...my mouth is watering just thinking about it!Coffee: A+; they make a mean latte and have the best house-made seasonal syrup flavors if you like a sweet coffee. Im an iced coffee year-round kind of person and theyre superb at this as well.**due to COVID, there is currently no indoor seating. I appreciate their attention to detail and continued dedication to protect staff and customers while still providing food and drink to us! There are arrows on the ground that clearly direct traffic, they limit how many people can be inside at once, there are umbrellas outside to wait under in case there is a short wait, masks are required to order, and there is plastic between staff and customers and food items.**

The buttermilk chocolate cake with bittersweet chocolate ganache and a mirror glaze was one of the most beautiful cakes Ive ever seen. It was much admired at the birthday party and tasted as delicious as it looked. Thanks so much for your craftsmanship!

A nice mocha and good selection of in-house baked sweets. Offering both indoor and sidewalk seating. Friendly and efficient staff. Street parking was easy enough to find on a Sunday.

I LOVE the staff here. There is a real family atmosphere and they are always so friendly. The bakery is pretty amazing; my husband loves their Marionberry scone and the breakfast burrito. I love the vegan pumpkin bread! I do wish there were more vegan food options. The reason I docked a star was because of the limited vegan items. This is my neighborhood coffee shop and I usually after a walk here with the family I have to go elsewhere to get vegan treats with my coffee when I would rather support this shop. Otherwise, if you love good coffee, deliciously fresh baked pastries, and a friendly inviting atmosphere, this is the place.

This was my very first Cappuccino in Portland. They served it up right; a quadruple shot with vanilla, foamy, not to dry or wet. BET- I’ll be back tomorrow.

Anja was wonderful to work with - she was accommodating and efficient. I was going to add decorations to the cake but they were so pretty we kept them alone! We ordered a coconut, carrot, and hazelnut butter with caramel apple filling. They were all scrumptious! Thanks, Anja!

I placed a special order for a birthday cake that was a) a rush order - ordered 2 days ahead of pick-up date and b) the cake I asked for wasnt listed on their menu - black forest. I corresponded with Anja and she was very accommodating with both of my requests. Not only did the cake look beautiful but they used local seasonal cherries which made the cake even more delicious and special.

They kind of remind me of recipes youd find in a good housekeeping mag, or like things your grandma would have made.Coffee is good, all the usual offerings.Staff is friendly. Place is cute.Because of Covid theres no indoor seating and masks are required. Also, no bathroom.

Miss Zumstein is such a gem! Their coffee is good but what makes this place special is their oh so delicious, in-house made baked goods. The quiche is pretty good, but my go to is their biscuit breakfast sando. Go here!!

We ordered a cake for our COVID wedding. It was so delicious - a hazelnut cake with raspberry filling. The frosting was to die for, not too sweet, just perfect. The staff was super helpful to work with and the cake was very affordable. Will certainly be working with Miss Zumstein for cakes in the future.!!

Purchased a coconut cake for my best friends birthday and was highly disappointed. The cake was dry, heavy and tasteless. The decoration was dated and the writing was sloppy. Given all of the good reviews for this esrtablishment I had high hopes. I am a very reasonable person and would not want to write a disparaging review for a small business; but, felt this needed a remark, if for nothing else, feedback for the owner.

A fabulous bakery and coffee shop

My son and I stopped here during a grueling weekend of apartment hunting, and we had about 30 minutes to grab a bite in an otherwise non-stop day.Something in the air in one apartment complex had reacted badly with my throat, leaving it scratchy and a bit hoarse, so I ordered some Earl Grey tea with honey. The lovely young lady behind the counter with the adorable pink hair went in the back, got my pot of tea, and about a tablespoon of full-strength honey! Normally, coffee and tea shops have a honey syrup thats blended to flow faster and dissolve quicker. It was perfect.My son got the one breakfast burrito that was left, and they heated it up in the oven, NOT in a microwave! It was SO delicious, with a great tasting, crispy outside and the inside was kind of like the best grilled cheese in the world. I was lucky to get a bite to sample!On an impulse, I took a walnut tea cookie out of the jar and put it on my plate after wed paid for everything, and she wouldnt ring it up! Just the warmest, kindest shop owners in all of Portland! Oh, and that walnut tea cookie was so darn amazing, I got 6 more, wrapped up in a cellophane bag with a pretty bow, to take home to New York.Bit of a long review, but this will be my go-to afternoon tea stop whenever Im in Portland! A must-see!

Ive never special-ordered something here, but I know theyll do cakes and such for special events if you call in advance. I love popping in on my days off to grab coffee and a sweet treat. Easy to relax and read, or get some work done on my laptop here. The small amount of outdoor seating is nice if you can snag a spot on a sunny day.

Weve gotten both our wedding cake and now our baby boys 1st birthday cake from Miss Zumstein. Not only were the cakes so incredibly delicious, but the staff is beyond helpful there! We will keep going back for more.

Everything they make is super delicious and different than what youll find at other places around town. I especially love Bills breakfast burrito with his house made hot sauces. The vibe is really homey and everyone who works there is really nice. A classic and unique neighborhood bakery and cafe.

I always go to this place for my matcha latte in Portland. They have good selections of pastries too. When its too crowded and there are tons of folks talking, its a little harder to study in. Other than that, it has a great vibe for studying and doing laptop work. Great place for just catching up with a friend too. Nice seating inside and outside. If you stay til their closing, they will most likely offer you a free pastry too since they donate them afterwards.

I often stop here for coffee and a handmade high quality breakfast egg tart. It is a perfect grab and go item for a busy morning!For my husbands birthday party we ordered a custom chocolate cake with strawberry and whip cream filling. It was so amazing!! Our friends raved about it.

I was a little disappointed by the selection of baked goods. I have a huge sweet tooth and the desserts all leaned towards the less sweet side of things. I had a cinnamon roll, which was good, but needed WAY more frosting. If I had gotten five times the frosting it still wouldnt have been enough. Its a cinnamon roll! Im not trying to be healthy here!

Miss Zumstein has wonderful, made from scratch baked goods. Theres always something new and unique to try. I love the quiche, chocolate torte, and every little cookie and tart Ive tasted. Its a cozy and pretty spot, although it can be a little cramped when the weather is bad and no one is sitting outside. They seem to do a lot of cookie platters and other special orders. I havent tried one yet, but Ive heard several people say that their birthday and wedding cakes are amazing.

Flourless chocolate cake was a yummy take home treat! Either they didnt have all pastries/breakfast options out when we arrived at 10am on a Saturday morning or they had already sold out of many options. Was looking forward to a breakfast bite but had to settle on coffee and a sweet to take home. Wide variety of people stopped in while we sipped our smooth coffee.

Cute little shop, doesnt have a lot of tables and tables are spaced very closely. Was very quiet when I was there and would be a good spot to get reading/work done. Try the lavender chai latte! Its connected to another shop next door but Im not sure what it is. Has an evening menu with alcohol beverages and light snacks. Considering its a bakery, baked goods are a bit limited in number. M

10 blocks from home and a great stop for a quick pasty and coffee. Stopped recently to take some baked goods to friends. They loved them. Look forward to providing out AirBnB guests their pastries upon arrival.

Always delicious pastries, the cheesecake or the lemon mousse are my personal favorites. Or do yourself a favor and get a sandwich cookie, you wont be disappointed.

Best coconut macaroons Ive ever had! EVER!I know from the samples everything else is amazing but I resist buying anything else as itll lead to more obsession over their goodness.they will hand dip the macaroons for you anytime if theyre out of chocolate ones.the ginger fella that works there is super cute and sweet but everyone that has helped me is lovely.

My search for an old fashioned yellow birthday cake for my lovely wife’s 50th birthday was not an easy one, but it thankfully brought me to this wonderful bakery. The cake was easily the best both my wife & I have ever tasted: the yellow cake dense and delicious, the dark chocolate ganache frosting decadent, but with just the right amount of sweetness.To have the opportunity to meet the baker and her excellent staff made the experience so much more rewarding as well. Entrust your custom cake to no one else!

Utterly wonderful baked goods. I came in for a chocolate chip cookie, left with 2 kinds of cookies and a hazelnut pear tart, and never pulled out of my parking space until they were ALL GONE! Too good to stop. That good.

Awesome - I came for coffee and a quiet, bright place to get some work done, but didnt want to leave for a bite to eat. they make a limited selection of sandwiches but I dont eat meat so asked for an egg sando and boy did they go above and beyond to put an incredibly delicious sandwich into my vegetarian mouth. highly recommend this place for strong coffee, delicious baked goods and kind people!

My husband and I had our wedding cake from Miss Zumstein. It was difficult because we got married on a yacht, so timing was a problem, and it was 90 degrees in the middle of August! But they were great. They drove the cake to us, made sure that it didnt melt, and got us all setup.The cake was amazing! We had a hazelnut cake with a toasted buttercream frosting and fresh fruit. Everyone loved it! My sister-in-law is a fitness instructor and went back for seconds and thirds. It was fantastic. We couldnt have asked for anything more!FYI the cupcakes in the photo are NOT from Miss Zumsteins. We had a couple guests who were vegan and had a nut allergy and had another allergy specialty bakery make those.

The treats here are sort rustic, by which I mean absolutely delicious without relying on prettiness to sell themselves. As a well established hater of carrots, it galls me to admit that their carrot cake is one of the most delicious things Ive tasted.
