All I can say is I LOVE THIS PLACE! The owner makes you feel so welcome and comfortable. She is helpful about suggesting clothes that will look good on you. She has a wonderful eye for style and design, and what to wear to make you look your best. Highly recommend Savvy Plus!
Savvy Plus is a high-end plus size consignment store. The prices range from $25-30 for cutout items (unsold new stock from other stores) to $200 for new 3XL items from Flax and Anne Taylor. Can you pay less elsewhere? I for one am pretty tired of digging through 100 items at goodwill to find the one thing that might be in my size, and its $19 and stained. That kind of shopping means youre so grateful for something that fits you dont end up buying the right thing. At Savvy Plus everything fits, or close to, so Im able to choose my style. And even say this fits, its a good color, I like the style, but the neckline is boxy so Ill get something else. The resale items they have are like-new condition. The dress you see me wearing here is an EShakti piece that had clearly been worn once or never, the same for every other used item.Theres no limit on how many items you can try on, they have the owner and a shop attendant whos happy to find you stuff. Feel free to toss stuff out and say I want something like this but blue and theyll usually find you something. The stock is mainly business-casual to formal. Great pieces to wear to the office or an awards ceremony. They were incredibly welcoming to me as a trans woman, and 61 and 300 pounds I was able to get a whole new wardrobe.Really great shop, its the other end of town from me and I still go all the time.
It was very clean and a sales clerk was excellent we were the only two in there so it made it nice. Ive been there a couple of times and Ive really enjoyed their selection of clothing and their jewelry
Attention Thrift Shoppers: Dont be scared off by recent reviews about very high prices. I found many tops and skirts between $15-30. Higher than some bargain thrift shops for sure, but typically better quality/condition and worth checking out.Selection: Great. Found 17 items I liked under $30 to try on, more than I typically find even in department stores. Lots of variety.Customer Service: Excellent. I was seldom able to accumulate more than one item I planned to try before a salesperson came to ask if I wanted her to put it in the fitting room for me. Gave good advice when requested.Prices: Yes, some things are outrageously expensive. I almost left immediately after I saw a $300 sweater/shawl that looked to me like it could have come from target. But if you go to the second room they have many reasonable items.Overall: Yes, you might be able to find new items on clearance for similar prices. But I prefer to support a local business and help the environment by reusing clothing.
This consignment shop has a huge selection of plus size clothing. Some is brand new with tags! Their stock ranges from designer brands (pretty expensive), to more affordable options (think Torrid, Melissa McCarthy, & big box brands). A lot of the reviews I read mention that the prices have gone up a lot— I will admit the first room was WAY out of my price range (this is the designer area). But the second room was full of interesting pieces and with much more affordable price tags. I was in the store for over an hour and tried on about a million things. I ended up going home with 5 really beautiful and unique pieces (averaging about $30 each). The customer service was amazing as well! The lovely woman at the counter helped me so much and stocked my dressing room as I went.
Reopened after change of ownership and remodeling, Savvy Plus is on its way back to greatness. Ann, the new owner, was a long time customer who knows what people want. Shes only been open a few weeks and is accepting consignments daily to fill the store. She does have some nice and nicely discounted new merchandise from Melissa McCarthy, Eileen Fisher, and other designers, but the funky fabulous finds are showing up as the consignments roll in. Currently open only Tues-Sat, they will add Sunday hours as summer approaches.
Simply the best resale/consignment shop in Portland for women of size. Ive been shopping here for over twenty years and through two owners. Now, as the shop changes hands again, I am looking forward to the next owners flavor. The wonderful thing is that even though the shop is now changing hands for the third time, the buyers have always been employees who arent out to turn everything upside down. A great place to find high end labels at an affordable price.
Savvy Plus has changed. Prices are quite a bit higher and the store has lost its urban edge. The clothes tend toward an older demographic and has lost some of its youthful appeal. Im part of the older demographic and still look for a little funk and flavor in my clothing. The new owner seems very nice and I will check back to see if things change. However, what used to be my go-to clothing store ... is no more. Sigh.
Shop has changed owners and is sadly no longer a place I can recommend. The new owner seemed very nice, but the clothing seems targeted at a much older demographic with emphasis on oversized, draped styles. It was hard to find even one thing I would wear. The stores once lovely esthetic is gone as well with cold white walls. Finally prices are much higher than before.
Fantastic resale for sizes 14 and over. Lots of choices in an array of sizes. Clothing was all in fantastic condition and reasonably priced. Very friendly staff. A fun place to shop!
Beautiful selection of new and used clothes. The new remodel makes the dressing rooms spacious and the new owner, Anne, is absolutely wonderful. One of the best shopping experiences I have had. Will definitely be back.
Savvy plus is under new ownership and theres no reason to ever go there again. The clothing is incredibly expensive and the store looks like someone opened it in their garage. The clothes are stuffed in and it and very expensive. They have the gall to carry some brand new clothing and say its 2018 designer wear. Its just a line of clothing that theyve marked up a whole lot from one of the countries where it costs very little to make it. There is no style there anymore at all. The only item I would even consider purchasing, was $90. I used to buy all sorts of items there. Ive been a passionate supporter for years and purchased all types of styles of clothing. Now there is no style at all. It looks like the top half of the store was forgotten about. There a stuffed in clothing racks below and then a huge expanse of empty wall above. Additionally the staff is rather aloof.Update: they have cleared out a lot of the clothing and are continuing the empty, drab theme. They moved some of it to the space next door that is also empty and drab. The prices are expensive and the choices in styles are very limited. You can spend the same amount at the original stores on sale or clearance.
I have been shopping here for over 13 years! Savvy is the best place to find affordable plus size clothing in the Portland Metro area. I have better luck finding clothing here than at any of the plus size retail stores. I♡♡♡Savvy!
Sad. The shop is under new ownership and the prices are way high. It was such a great spot for work clothes or a new funky outfit for a weekend out.....now not so much. You might as well go to the mall and hit a sale. No more funky finds solely working middle class lady clothes. :(
Great staff! Helpful and kind. Awesome inventory! Relevant pieces and reasonable prices.
My mom and I have been selling here for years, Gaia the store owner is super sweet and helpful! I love coming in to check out what they have and usually leave with a great find. Prices are reasonable and they often have sales. My mom has better luck bringing in clothing, she brings minty used clothing mostly from Lane Bryant. I noticed a lot of complaints from others about this store not accepting their clothing. Due to the store being smaller and the demographics they target I think its fair to say the clothing they are looking for at this store is specific. Depending on season, quality/brand of clothing, and their needs for inventory this store is fair and definitely a place for all size 10+ to check out!
I have tried numerous times to sell my like new clothes to this store. All are Torrid, Lane Bryant, Macys, etc. Mostly department merchandise, all clean, barely worn, and not once have they accepted what I have bought in. They use the excuse that it is the wrong material, but then you look at their racks and there is cheaper more damaged clothing that they are trying to sell. It is unfortunate because they do cater to plus size. I will stick to the buy sell trades online, it works out much better. And I would rather go pay full price on an item then shop in this store.
I went to sell some clothes here for the first time, I feel like they paid me well. The girl working was super nice. They had a really cute selection, whenever I come to town, I will stop by!
Shopping here has made me love being a chubby girl again! Staff is super friendly, clothes are VERY reasonable AND theres always sales. They are very picky about what they buy, but thats what makes this place so great when buying. Actually, I know I cant take most of my items here because use them to death, but Im ok with that. They have high standards and low prices to ensure you get an amazing product. I never walk out of here without at least one piece. The selection changes often, too. Due to my lack of control, Im only allowed to come in about once a season.
Very nice place. Great selection. Fun location.
I have bought and sold clothes here for years. Gaia has very high standards and only takes clothes that are in excellent condition. She continually also brings in clothes/accessories from local designers.
Beware rating prior to doing 2018 are for another business. The shop name was bought and this is not remotely the same place. It was my favorite place for trendy 30 something stuff and l always walked out with 5-10 reasonable priced items including summer dresses, knee high boots, and boho blouses. New owner was very kind but primarily featured one designer of drab sacks, robes, and tunics, targetting a much older demographic with more money. I have nowhere to reliably shop for youthful stuff and will not pay to hide my curves. Back to online shopping...
Incredible service. Great dresses ... and other great pieces and accessories.
Great people. Very good buyers. Always feel welcome and supported. Great customer service.
My lady absolutely loved this store and the bench for us men in the front was greatly appreciated! 😊
If you wear a above a size 16W then this is your place. This is your Nirvana. This is your Mecca.Every time Im anywhere near here, I always want to stop in and see what I can find because I found some amazing things. During my last visit I got a really cute sport LaSac purse for $14.Womens plus size clothing can be very spendy sometimes especially with stores like Catherines. Ive gotten new with the tags still on blouses from Catherines here for less than $15 instead of the normal $50.While yes, I suppose it is technically resale and used clothing but everything Ive ever gotten here seemed absolutely brand new to me as far as I could tell. If it is used its very gently used.
This store used to be somewhat affordable and inviting. Now, it is full of clothes that are often well over $120. Many of the clothes are Catherines brand with the tags still on, and they are marked down (20% off or somesuch). I used to come here every year when traveling to Portland. I looked forward to this store more than nearly any other place I would go. But it has changed and I am sad. I wanted people to know just how much it has changed!
Great shop awesome selection amazing staff I felt welcome and will go back for sure
I always give this place another chance b/c there arent that many plus size places in Portland to shop but I always come away disappointed - before the new owner and remodel and after - before the staff was rude and condescending and acted like they were curing cancer not reselling used clothes - after the staff seems a bit nicer but now the clothes are so over priced its ridiculous - I guess they want to be a high end plus sized consignment store by the prices but the clothes arent all that high end and were all so boring - nothing fun and fabulous at all!!
Used womens clothing store specialized in Plus sizes; great selection; quality items.
Worth the drive to Portland just to pop in here for the great plus size selection, boutique experience, and out-of-this world customer service. Will be a regular.
A great place to shop, but not so to consign. Clothing is well displayed and marked, and from the customers end, its an empowering place for large women to shop. Consigning: Unless theyve recently changed their practices, they will not give you a list or receipt of what you brought in, but if you must have a list, they charge you $3.50 for a list of items but only after youve left the store. Yuh? Its customary business practice when you drop off something (for repair, sale, etc.) that you get a receipt with a description of the item(s) left, to cover both parties. Even if they gave me a receipt for the number of items it would have been better. Nope. The owner was steadfast on this. Over the years Ive brought items to them, and have learned to make my own list (which they will not accept or sign) so I can check it against the garments that are returned to me. When a list was in question their list trumped mine. To their credit, they only accept totally perfect items in mint condition. The difficulty that Ive had is that they can be either supremely polite and kind in their rejections or curt, dismissive and sometimes angry (the owner, not the staff) if the quality isnt up to their standards, like things being impeccable ironed (I iron them all before coming, and its tough to keep them pristine in transit.) More than once Ive gone away with my tail between my legs, feeling bad about myself because of the words of the owner. I hope that these comments help them to re-think their business practices and to remember that theyre realing with a demographic struggling to feel good about themselves. Whether consignors or customers, if your policy is to treat them as guests they will come back. Sadly, that wont be me, but I wish you the best for giving Portland women a lovely place to shop.
The gal is super nice, great selection, will definitely be back!
Savvy consistently has a good selection of clothes and reasonable prices, and they are always available for help without feeling like you need to tell someone to back off.
My wife and I love the selection.
Wonderful people and items
Clean, fair prices
Overpriced used clothes, unfriendly service
Owner rocks, employee is lazy
Great place!!!
Rude customer service
