Food is ok but quanty not so good. Ordered a smash burger that come with fries only had about 10 fries and burger is tinyP.s just found hair in the steak and cheese never going there again
Amazing, amazing, amazing!! A cozy neighborhood market and bar with some of the best food. The bartender is welcoming as well as the other staff. Iβll come here time and time again. Highly recommend!
Food and adult beverages are great! Also has a ton of options as a convenience store
Dont even bother. This place used to be the best local food spot in the neighborhood. Affordable, delicious food in a cozy old corner store. Then they renovated, jacked the prices up, spread themselves too thin, and the food suffered. Used to be able to get the best banh mi in town for $4.50. Now theyre $7 and slimy and cold.Okay for a quick stop for some snacks or beer or household items. Dont bother with the food. The quality plummeted about a year ago. I used to be a loyal customer but Im done with this place.
Place is super laid back, and super decent food. I love to go just for the comfortability and fun easy going vibes. They have most everything you would ever want at a convenience store and restaurant. Guys who run and own this place are the real deal, theyβre out here makinβ it GO! For the people! Great food for great prices and they keep a super friendly staff. Nobody is perfect but when you see people out there givinβ it everything they got, it really shows! Awesome energy and positive vibes!
This place has gone downhill since the renovation. They wont even do large pizzas anymore, instead they would prefer to sell you a small frozen pizza for more than its worth. Their snack selection has downsized, they cant seem to get a grip on their ordering, and it feels as if they prioritize their bar regulars more than other customers. Not to mention all the prices have been jacked up a ridiculous amount as if there wasnt a big apple or seven eleven right around the corners. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day has been ruined.
Been here 3 times and gotten chopped cheese sandwich each time. The first two times it was great- cheesey and hot. Today it was dry and had ketchup on it. Hoping this was just a blip, because its a great spot for decent drinks and snacks at a good price.
Good steak and cheese, but the menu says theyβre $8 each and I ended up paying $26 for 2 not including a tip. Then I got home and they were tiny.
The food by Ronnie Medlock at Mellen Street Market is UNREAL. Options on the menu include a wide range of anything inspired by Vietnam to Puerto Rico. NO PLATES MORE THAN $10. If youre looking for a bang for your buck, this place is dynamite for your dollar. Drinks stronger than your dadβs gym socks. Come support a local legend doing it right.
This is an awesome neighborhood market with friendly & helpful staff. The food is great and so are the prices. Well worth working into rotation of my favorite spots for takeout.
This place has really turned around in the last 6 months. The food selection is top notch (AND CHEAP). The beer selection is the best around (AND THE CHEAPEST). And they even have the common fresh groceries. Iβm really looking forward to what Shawn and Tim do with the new bar/restaurant slated to be coming in a few months. I assume it will be too notch as well.
Great craft beer selection. If I want to try something new, Tim and Shawn always know what to recommend. I highly suggest grabbing one of their made-to-order Bahn Mi sandwiches. A great value and theyβre really good!
I come here on my lunch break a couple times a week. The gentleman that work here are SO friendly and welcoming! The customer service is definitely 5 star, I would rate higher if I could! :) As far as the food, I have only tried their pizza slices and they are amazing! Im so glad this pace is here! Anytime I am in the area for lunch, this is my go to place!I recommend this place to everyone! :)
My family went on vacation to Vietnam so I thought it was cool that they had a Bahn Mi on their menu. However the sandwich I got smelled and tasted awful. I havent tried anything else on their menu and I probably never will but this place from the inside out is just nasty.
Love this place! I go in at least twice a week n get pizza and the new dough they use now is awesome! I always enjoy goin in to grab food and/or drinks especially with the new owners n staff....def a great group of people.
Excellent neighborhood market and restaurant! Best craft beer selection in town. New and updated food menu! Must try the Banh Mi! They also deliver!
Mellen Street Market has become my regular place to visit for a quick lunch. I must admit that the pizza is a reasonable price and also incredibly tasty. Banh mi Is an awesome sandwich also with a reasonable price and a fantastic taste. SUPER GREAT HUMBLE new owners and the store is packed with verities which I tend to find practically anything in there. As the store continues to expand and is becoming to be my favorite spot in portland for satisfaction guaranteed than any other corner stores. Definitely Portlands popular new addition!
Awesome little bodega with surprisingly wide selection
Im not shopping here again until they actually enforce the mask requirement. The store is tiny and cramped, and I was the only customer wearing a mask despite signage saying people will be denied entry if they dont.
Amazing sandwiches and awesome to go buffalo chicken mac and cheese. Iβll be returning soon, excited to taste more.
Great food, great prices and great workers! There so friendly and nice. The food is always freshed cooked and delicious at great prices!! And the store part has all the consciences and supplies youd need! Its amazing and im so happy to live near by
Nice local market. Wonderful employees and owners. Owner is very nice and great with the local residents.
Owner is nicest guy ever. Grubslub screwed me and he went out of his way to deliver. Outstanding
Im there #1customer when it comes to the chicken Ban mih absolutely love it.
Fantastic .... get the special ... must try
I am Vietnameseπ»π³ and living in USA. The bread here is very similar to Vietnamese bread, very delicious.Because bread is made and sold during the day .So the bread is fresh and delicious, the price is very cheap and there are many optionsπ€π€€πIf I have a chance I will come backπππ
There is a one star reviewer (Christopher Montoya) that is targeting businesses that do not sign up for their GoEBT contract. Therefore, I am offsetting it with a 5 star review.
Excellent customer service at this store. ... the breakfast sandwiches and pizza are to die for...ask for Maureen if you want a sausage sub toasted: she does it best!!! I love it...
Had a steak and cheese and it tasted like hot trash. I got wicked sick off it. Stay away from this dungeon trash heap of a store.
Tacos are Dope! They delivered food, beer, and some gum to me when I was in need.LOVE THIS Place! 11 Stars
The banh mi is the best sandwich under $5 in Portland. Period.
Great selection of beers and wines, delicious high quality food and large variety makes this a must visit.
Awesome local market, supreme hot bar, open til 11 and the vietnamese iced coffee is DIVINE.
Great corner store! Beer selection keeps growing
Bad food and bad service. Their attempt at a Bahn Mi is laughable. Very unfriendly rude staff. Store is a mess with no prices on anything. Rotting disgusting produce. The place use to be nice before the new owners made a mess out of it.
DONT EAT HERE! I had a rough day at work and thought I would try out the new Mellen street market On my way home. The cooks werent wearing gloves and it took them 15 minutes to make 1 sandwich keep in mind it was mid afternoon after the lunch rush and they were not busy at all as I watched the grumpy individual take his time making it. The service was just plain awful! So I get my sandwich go home and start to eat it the bread was soggy and under the bread... A dead spider!
New owners dont seem to know how to run the place. I got sick from a breakfast sandwich, then from a sub on another visit. Theyve made a lot of changes, one of which was to extend the hours which is *great*.HOWEVER, I just walked over and they were closed at 10:30 (supposedly open until 11pm). Which would have been super annoying anytime, but I am really sick and needed juice and medicine. Really wasnt up for walking in the cold, and to find them closed for no apparent reason is very frustrating. They also stopped taking EBT which is super lame for one of the only (sort of) grocery stores within walking distance. There are a lot of people who use EBT & dont have cars in the neighborhood, your business is not going to do well if you shut us out.(And did they really need to take all the pins out of the map? All the history of years of customers from all over the world, just gone. Super lame.)
Truly unique little market near Deering Oaks park.Youll be lucky if you meet Tim, the charismatic owner, who wants...and is succeeding...at having a little something for everyone! I absolutely love the Vietnamese flair! And Sean, the manager, (whose food last year made Tomasos one of the best dive bars in Portland) is a loving giant and a hell of a cook, serving up delicious and seriously loaded sandwiches to order, as well as fresh and new home-cooked dishes that change daily. The banh mi sandwich is divine, and Sean is always brining, marinating and slow cooking meats for his special sandwiches (turkey club, cuban, hand-made meatballs with fennel) to perfection. This is the place if you want home cooked food and serious value! The craft beer selection is always growing and the prices are the best in town!I cant wait for the bardega concept to open, as it promises to be some of the best bar food in town and a seriously fun and relaxed atmosphere. And have you had HiFi donuts?Ask Sean to toast one in the pizza oven for you ;)Also, I recommend adding banh mi garnishes (cilantro, carrot daikon slaw, and jalapenos) to all dishes.
5 stars for the meatball subs. Holy heck they are so good. Giant flavorful meatballs & really good sauce. The bread is toasted with the cheese & the whole combination is nutso good. The meatball subs will have us back even more often than we usually come in.The bahn mi are also really good and a great deal. My vegetarian daughter is super happy to be able to get a good veg bahn mi in our neighborhood. However, I got a Cuban which I did not enjoy. It was made with big chunks of pork, no mustard (that I could see or taste) and had mayo on it (*lots* of hot mayo- yuck). The worst part is that it was not pressed- it was made on a regular sub roll and the entire sandwich was squishy, overly juicy, drippy & kind of gross. The first Cuban I had there awhile ago was pretty good, but the one I just got was not a Cuban, just a weird pork sub.Overall, the new owners seem to be making some good changes we are pretty happy with. The giant bottles of Orangina are bomb! Being able to get Hi-fi donuts so close to home is pretty great, too.
This place is dope!!! The chicken sandwich is 100
Large variety of items, great food and even better people. What more could you ask for?
Great sandwiches! Really love the banh mi!
My pizza was under cooked and gross. It looks like a bomb went off inside to store the place looks awful
Friendly neighborhood store with a bit of everything. Good sandwiches, nice owners, and the ATM is a plus.
Nice neighborhood corner store. Hard to tell price on items.
Same market, with a fresh look
There was a bloody band aid in my food, the owner actually said, not again
The store is very messy and confusing. The food cheap but is of poor quality. I guess you get what you pay for.
Yummy Pizza and tacos!!!
Worst pizza in the city IMO
Cashier is super rude
