Stopped in, on a whim, while visiting in Portland, to see if they had any cajons. What a great store. I fully understand why its known as the drummers toy store. A marvelous array of drums, world percussion, gongs, and chimes. We ended up finding two very impressive cajons, gently used, at prices that were much more than fair. And they even shipped one back to the east coast at a modest cost. This store is now added to my must visit list for whenever I am in Portland. And, the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome, encouraged us to try out what we were interested in, and never a hint of pressure to buy. Plain and simple....go there!

My favorite store! Been shopping there for years and, sadly, had not been in for a while. I finally went back today. So awesome being back! My newest drum kit is a Rhythm Traders kit and I have always loved it. Today they helped me finish fixing up a vintage snare I have been meaning to put together. Sounds fantastic now! Definitely the place to be for all things drum related.

Got a great price on this bad boy a couple weeks back. I had the 20 version of the same model, which was never quite what I wanted it to be. The extra 2 makes all the difference in this cymbal. It is just perfect — speaks well without being overly pingy, and with a fantastic bell sound. Plus its bendy and malleable. Stoked.The guys at RT were great as always, and I ended up saving a boatload on the cymbal through a gift certificate I had, a cracked cymbal recycling program they were running along with Dream Cymbals, and the trade-in of my 20 Sand Ride. I probably wouldve otherwise not entertained getting the 22 if I hadnt been in the store and if not for the great deals I always seem to come by there. Rhythm Traders FTW!

As a first time visitor I had no clue what I was walking into. I walked into Drum heaven!!!! hand drums, acoustic drums, electric drums, anything and everything drum related. Ben was awesome to work with!!! He interacted with my children in the kindness way, while helping me find what I wanted in a quick fashion. Ben knew exactly what I was looking for and brought that vision to a reality. Forget about going anywhere else. This place is it!

THE Drum Shop in Portland. I have been buying drums, percussion from RT for almost 20 years and their selection & expertise are unmatched. I went in last week to get a new djembe bag for the djembe I bought from RT at their old location about 16 years ago and saw a new djembe that was calling to me. I resisted my initial urge to put some $$ to hold it but by the time I got home, I knew I had to have it so I called them up and sent them some $$ to hold it for me. I will be going there in a couple of hours to pick it up. The staff are friendly, accommodating & know their stuff so its always a pleasure to spend time there in drum heaven

Truly a 5-star drum shop! The knowledge that James and Ben and the rest of the crew there have about all things drums is well worth not just ordering online. And you get the sense they really want the customer to be happy with his/her purchase and arent just trying to make a sale. Been shopping here for years, what an amazing specialty shop. They have a great selection of new and used, and their advice is always spot on. Ive made some larger purchases here, but its the little service add ons that really stand out. They helped me order bin parts to rebuild my Iron Cobra, theyve given sound advice on vintage repair, and theyve always been super welcoming in letting me play around with their inventory before buying. If youve ever been disappointed by the big chain store (you know who Im talking about) then this is the spot.

Rhythm Traders always helps me get the best cases. Sarge and James worked with me to find the best cases for my price range. We have purchased over 20 protection Racket Cases, and 10 bass drum cases from Humes and Berg for my parade drumming group The Last Regiment about 10 years ago and they are still holding up. Just this week I picked up 7 Drum Seeker bags and 2 more Humes and Berg bass drum cases for the Roosevelt HS drum section. The Drum Seeker bags are awesome and Sarge got me the best possible price. I just picked up some new cymbals from Rhythm Traders and I love them. The cymbals were made by a local craftsman, and they are absolutely beautiful. The store has a spectacular selection across the board and Mitch, who sold me the cymbals was very helpful and clearly knowledgeable about their merchandise. He even cut me a great deal on a cymbal bag to protect my new beauties. I will surely be spending lots of money here.

We received amazing, personal service. They spent time with us and let our son try out a number of snare drums. When he selected a used drum, they cleaned it up and put a new head on it. All this and they stayed late to take care of us. 5 star service all the way!

Wow. What an amazing shop! I came in today to get a ball park on some cymbals/ stands and within ten seconds of being in the shop I had 3 employees ask what I needed help with all of which seemed extremely kind and knowledgeable of my equipment. I told them that I was coming in just to see what I could get because I may need some extra cash for a security deposit on a new apartment. Although it was clear that I was planning on leaving with my equipment the employees were extremely willing to devote their attention to me. The shop itself is incredible as well. Will definitely be coming back for all of my drumming needs!

I believe the owner is who helped me a few years ago. Anyway, atmosphere was nice, friendly customers, and the man who helper us out set up about every drum set I glanced at. He didnt hesitate to get to work or agree on a lowered price. Awesome shop!

Went here to buy my first acoustic drum kit (previously had an electric). The staff are incredibly helpful and kind. Sarge helped me put a used set together in my price range and made sure to get me the best deal I could. He gave me great advice and made sure I was ready to put together and play the drum kit on my own. I learned so many new things about drumming, and buying drums, cymbals, etc. This has been the easiest, most helpful, and most comprehensive experience Ive had at any drum/music store. Yeah, this place is ALL drums. With all the great gear and professionals walking around, I walked in here expecting to get treated like a complete china(ass)-hat, and the experience was the complete opposite. It was amazing. Im a new drummer with no experience, and I was taken aside and given the most incredible one-on-one attention and advice. Truly blew my mind. Holy hell, I love this place.The gent who helped me spent a MASSIVE amount of time just talking to me about choosing the correct sticks. It seemed as if he had waited the whole day for me to just walk in the door. Outstanding service.Another thing: I came here after visiting Guitar Center for some advice and maybe some tips about sticks, lessons, and equipment. Guitar Center totally blew me off saying things like just google it. Rhythm Traders treated me like friend, and in some ways took me under their wing. That one guy who works there. A prime canidate for bosley hair systems. Kinda gruff looking in general. Probably played a gig the night before. He took the time to show me how to use a Shaker Egg properly. That 60 second lesson fundamentally altered my approach to percussion. I am not being glib here. I showed my friends. Now we all have shakers and snake them enthusiastically to our favorite CDs.A+++Highly recommended
