One of several kitschy gift shops on Hawthorne, Memento PDX is a little smaller than its direct competitor, Presents of Mind, which sits a block away on the same side of the street. There is some overlap in the types of goods for sale here, but there are some unique finds here as well.Shopping at Memento PDX is a bit like combing through the garage sale of a hoarder with a taste for collectables and oddities. Almost everything for sale falls under the umbrella of I dont *NEED* this...but I *WANT* this. Several items seem to exist purely because someone felt the need to take a pun and manifest it into the world as a (highly questionable) objet dart. Attempting to categorize the variety of items for sale here is a bit like trying to describe the Matrix: you have to see it for yourself.Definitely worth a visit, if you find yourself out shopping on Hawthorne. Whether youre looking for a quirky gift for a friend or loved one, or finding that odd little trinket that tickles your funny bone just right, theres plenty to choose from here. And unlike the movie that shares its name, you will have little trouble remembering your visit to Memento PDX.
Amazing gift shop, & Miranda (the owner?) Is wonderful! Having no luck finding a gift shop that would deliver to a loved one in the hospital, I called Memento & explained my dilemma. Miranda happily accepted my special request for same day delivery & went above & beyond in helping me select adorable gifts from her shop, even took pictures of items and sent them to me so I could see everything & choose. Customer service and communication with her was an absolute delight, she was so patient, kind, personable, & really cared. She wrapped all the gifts, created a lovely care package, and delivered them herself to the hospital for me, & updated me throughout the process. The recipient absolutely loved the gifts & it brought a lot joy to them. Thank you Miranda, for going out of your way, all the extra you did, & how much you care about your customers & the recipients of the gifts. You are truly a very special person & I really appreciate your help❤
Cute little gift shop, decent prices, and plenty of nick nacks and stuff to look at.
An utter delight! I happened to be lucky enough to interact with the owner of the shop when I stopped in just before Christmas, and she had so much knowledge about her stock, and was SO friendly and helpful, and glad to interact. I find myself needing a gift for the end of the week, and Ill be stopping here first to get one.(Also, great covid safety measures! Another reason to go here over other places, which act like taking steps in the interest protecting one another is something we all hate.)

A great bunch of eclectic gifts. I always go here for Christmas gifts. The customer service is usually not great, but I dont need much when Im there typically. Not rude, just very neutral.
Friendly eclectic gift shop. I can always find a creative gift here for anyone on my list. Lots of local products including candles, soaps, art prints, and more.
So many treasures - easy to find the perfect gift for your quirky friend (or your quirky self!)
Super funky little gift shop! Friendly staff, fun gift ideas, we love supporting this place!
I like this place because of the unique and entertaining items they always have in stock. They have beautiful jewelry and the staff isnt in your face all the time but is still there to help if you need.
Great little shop. Perfect for small gifts.
They have a great selection of fun gifts, but I didnt think the person behind the counter was very friendly. With the exception of Pacifica products, I would rather shop at Redux on Burnside because at least they seem happy that you are shopping in their store.
Unique collection of gifts. Lots of local art.
Great selection of novelty gifts.
A Portland gift shopping essential!
Cool little shop
The best gift shop in SE!!!!
