Excellent shop with a large variety of salt products. Some are for seasoning food some are for cooking on. There are lamps and other home items made from salt. Also has a special room lined in salt to sit in to take advantage of the healing properties of salt as well. Definitely worth a stop to browse and pick up some unique gifts. Knowledgeable and friendly staff.
I love this place! Their hand cream is heavenly and Im obsessed with their flavored salts.
Who knew salt could be so interesting? Found this place while visiting Portland. Felt a bit upscale once you enter, but the saleslady/cashier was kind and informative. She encouraged us to try all the different types of salt they offered (truffle salt, sriacha salt, hickory salt, etc). They also have a water dispenser near the shelves if all the salt tasting makes you thirsty.Ended up buying some flavoured salt (bit pricy) and a pink Himalayan salt block (they have a bucket of large pieces for $10 and a chest full of smaller pieces for $5. Total bargain)Would recommend checking this place out to anyone in the area. Reasonable prices, good service, and pretty salt.
Huge variety of flavored salts to taste/buy, which makes it tough to choose only one. Luckily they have sets that are specific to BBQ, popcorn, seafood, etc. Great place to stop if you love flavored salt or need a gift for someone who does. If flavored salt isnt your thing they have bath products as well. Only downside is they are a little pricey. Definitely a must stop if in the area.
Amazing experience. This is the cleanest most amazing salt room Ive been to yet.I go to Salt rooms all the time in big cities. This by far is the best.Highly recommend and I will be back. The owners are professional with the warm greetings and treatment that made me feel extra welcome.
Great salt Den with hundreds of different products ranging from cooking tools to soap night lights. Samples galore make for a fun experience! Must see in sight in downtown Portland.
Really great salts- some of the garlic ones were outstanding. I haven’t ever cooked or used the large blocks so I can’t say how well those perform but I’ve heard they’re pretty amazing. Prices seemed really good as well.
One-of-a-kind store for jaded gourmets. Impossible to leave without purchasing something, even if its salted caramel candy.
Great selection of specialty salts and an opportunity to sample them all. The black truffle salt is amazing. Their bath salt scrubs are also lovely. Friendly staff. A bit expensive but worth it for a treat.
Not my favorite recreational choice. I had high expectations and didnt receive any beneficial healing effects in the salt cellar that I could recognize. The shop was a redeeming factor in the experience, enjoyed the offerings.
My friend had a Groupon for two for a 50min session in the Salt Vault. It was mostly as expected but I feel the chairs could have been better if they were recliners or something more cozy, warm and comfortable. Also, the tissue paper on the pillows crinkling takes away from the relaxation, coupled with the sound of heels walking around the outside of the Vault. Perhaps the music could be louder?? For the price, I think something other than outdoor, poolside lounge chairs would be more suitable for the setting.
Lapin dragged me to this store because I have been in love with salt longer than I can remember. Upon entry, we were treated to a friendly and upbeat greeting. The store was packed with salt inspired goodies. Pink Himalayan lamps, coasters, infused salt, salt enriched bath products, cook books along with tons of other goodies. The prices are on the higher end but definitely a once in awhile treat.
A few weeks ago our cruise ship stopped for the day in Portland. I am a big sea salt fan and found the Salt Cellar in my tour research. I honestly can say this was my favorite shop we visited that day. We enjoyed the salt room but really loved sampling the various salts. My favorites were the hot while my wife enjoyed ones like vanilla. We came away with several containers and plan to do some online holiday shopping The nice lady running the shop that Sunday was such a treat. She answered all my silly questions and made us feel welcome and appreciated. Very nice experience, I hope to visit there again the next time I make it to Portland.
A cool store. Have seen it several times, but I decided to stop in after hearing about it on Gastropod podcast. I like that you are able to try samples.
Great & Exotic salt flavors from around the world. We picked three flavors, THIS visit. Soaking salts - got some - aaah! Salt cutting boards. Salt shot glasses - we MUST get those, next visit. Much more. Friendly & personable staff.
Small store located in Portland downtown, near by the water. Pretty area, traffic can be heavy. My son and wife wanted to shop here. They have a large selection of specialty spices, some hard to find. A specialty shop, to be sure, but nice.
This was my second visit to the Salt Cellar. I enjoy the Serene warm environment after a long work week.
Very relaxing. Felt amazing after it was over.
Cool store if youre into salt. All different types. Tons of little jars with different flavors. Its a little expensive, but for artisan salt its probably pretty average. There are also all kinds of Himalayan salt block items, like cutting boards and light fixtures.
I love salt and they have a great selection
Love this place. I love their bath salts. Service is always super friendly.
Its a salt store so not too much to say about it but personally I love salt so I was in heaven. Tons of different flavor options and you can sample almost all of them. Got some ghost buster salt that had Trinidad scorpion peppers in it. I will say I HATE when places list ghost or scorpion peppers as an ingredient but when you try it youd swear all they did was wave the pepper over it and you get no heat. This salt however was legit. There is quite a bit of heat and flavor packed into that little jar of salt. If you love salt or know someone that does then check this place out.
The salt vault is a relaxing experience in a unique and healing atmosphere. The environment is clean and very welcoming. The result is a desire to repeat this destressing, healthy activity. Our experience was greatly enhanced by emoloyee, Josh, who was very knowledgeable, quick to answer questions and provided an inviting experience. Going back for sure!!!
A lot of salts to try, as well as salt scrubs and lotions. I could see going in for a gift or if you love cooking.
Interesting had to try. Id go again.
Love cooking with salt blocks...bowls, cups, and more at this store!
Many of kinds of flavored salt for eating. Other salt for health and beauty.
Awesome store. Good vibes. Great gifts. Friendly staff...
I could pretty much marry this place if it are legal. the ghost pepper salt is crazy good
Pretty cool place if your into this type of stuff.
Love this place! One of my must ‘go-to’s’ every time I visit Maine.
I love me a salt store. The edible salts are the bomb, the salt slabs are pricey, the air quality is divine, the truffle salts are worth their price, hard for parking but try getting a spot on a rainy day, staff was helpful.
Love this store; great salt selections for the foodie in your life
This place is a gem, the salt cutting board alone was worth the trip to one of the most facinating shops I have been in.
Salt. Thas it. Salt. Different kinds and a lot of it. Theres nothing more that needs saying. Wouldnt have minded a little pepper though.
Lots of salts. From your standard table salt to smoked salts. They sell salt merchandise like candle holders and lamps.
Great products and friendly customer service.
Everything you need to know about salt, with a massive selection of salts to choose from as well. Staff is very helpful and also very knowledgeable.
Very unique gifts with helpful staff.
So many cool items for cooking and in the bathroom.
I love salt and this place is amazing.
I ordered one awful and they charged me for 3 visits ..still no refund .however table sats are good .if you can deal with rude counter help
Try the Truffle Salt. Incredible!
Great place for natural salts
Loved the location and selections. Slightly on the expensive side.
Does what it says on the tin, but not really worth stopping in.
Yup. After shave
