Gave this place a 3 star only because the voucher we purchased did not state you can only use 1 per visit per month. The voucher is pay $15 and get $30 worth of food. Very deceiving

Based on their working hours listed on the website, I visited their store today and it was closed. This has happened a couple of times and I am not going to make the same mistake again and I will take my business elsewhere .

Ordered a GLUTEN FREE cake. The guy on the phone was wonderful. The price was about $60 but when I got there on a Sat afternoon, there was a $10 up charge since it was GF. All things considered, I guess that is the going rate. I wanted a GF cake like Ive had at the Mad Batter Cakery (flown in from Sonoma) and that was not to be. It has been a few months, so I figured I can be objective versus how I was that day. The cake was fine (lemon) but I did not expect it was going to have a yellow lemon gel layer on the top. The writing came out was like one of those Pinterest #NailedIt memes and looked like scribbles. Names were free but there would also be another extra charge to put a graphic on the cake. So, I had brought a cookie cutter and asked him to trace the outline of it on the cake as I wanted an airplane leaving a puffy white trail. That would be free. We drew it on a piece of paper. I told him I had Happy Birthday candles. Even with the sketch layout, the writing and plane orientation came out at a 90 degree angle to how it was supposed to. The trace job on the airplane was less than stellar and chocolate or white were the only color options. I think the guy who did the customization must have primarily been a cashier because I could have done it better if he had handed the frosting to me. In the end, I was not happy about the 5th grade cursive and just had to go with it as it was for a party an hour later. In the future, I will stick to Extraordinary Desserts as their GF cakes are works of art and impress the party goers for nearly the same price point.

The princess cake is the only cake I want for my birthday, so delicious! I’ve been getting princess cakes for family birthdays since 2009.

Great place to check out if you want lots of variety and dont want to pay a ton for it. We had an entertainment coupon so we finally tried this place for the first time and got a great deal on the box of pastries we bought. I can honestly say its not the absolute best Ive had as I have a sugar tooth and have frequented plenty of dessert shops, but it has an assortment of goodies that are typically hard to find in one place and definitely hit the spot. Of all the things we sampled, I was in love with the raspberry cookie which the man working was so kind as to get me a fresh one from the back. Excellent customer service! My husband really loved the cheesecake /chocolate cake combo. The cone thing was a little odd for me as it was just filled with cake icing, but my husband loved it. I really enjoyed the little.. [cake gems? Lol] ...I cant remember what theyre called. But I really liked the rum and mint ones and theyre rich and tasty. Only thing I was not a fan of was the eclair. The filling had a slightly odd, somewhat artificial aftertaste which made it hard for me to enjoy and Im a purist when it comes to my pastry fillings. However I will definitely be back for that cookie especially! I tried to save half to eat the next day but my mom ate it and Ive been bummed all week lol!

This place is AMAZING! Ive ordered two cakes from them, one lemon vegan and gluten free and one cherry vegan, gluten and sugar free. My guests were stunned that they were so healthy! Both were full of flavor and super moist!🍰🎂👍👍👍👍

They have a good selection of gluten free other than the normal one. Good place to buy also cakes. Delicate and tasteful biscuits and pastries. Never disappointed.

The prices were low, the food was tasty, the service was friendly. It was clean. There was lots of parking. It was easy to find and it is in a good location. I really liked it and I cant wait to go back.

One of my favourite place in San Diego. I dont like desserts as much, as sweets give me headache, but I cant resist the ones over here. The Portions and amount of sugar in them is just right and I can have them without any headache. Absolutely in love with all their desserts(not to miss their huge delicious non dairy/vegan collection and freshly baked bread). Super friendly staff definitely adds to the experience.Basically, a must visit place :)(I havent tried their cakes yet but would be ordering a vegan one this month for my birthday...Cant wait 😊)

Great selection of bakery, with awesome friendly staff! Custom-made cakes are wonderful, just the way you want and will in fact exceed your expectations. Will definitely come back to try the rest of their bakery.

I bought about 8 items and they all went to trash. I should have brought them back. They were extremely throat burning sweet. Thats all you could taste. They look good but dont taste good. Dont waste your money for this is not quality pastry, unless if you love extremely sweet.

Wonderful selection of pastries. I have not tried the sandwiches or salads yet. The man who was working did not want to sell me a cannoli, because it was 2 in the afternoon, and he felt that I would be dissatisfied with the texture of the shell that late in the day. So he gave it to me. All my other selections were great.

Food is not the best but close to the dance studios which makes it convenient. I have gone there many times together with other parents and again and again same feedback. Owner is unfriendly, personnel is unfriendly and food leaves a lot to the imagination. We have committed to not going back. At least at Starbucks and Coffee Bean we are welcomed.

This place is amazing, and totally worth waiting in the line to snag a pastry. Ive added to the tour route when friends or family come to visit, and its always one of the most memorable spots in CA for them :-)

Great pastry shop with a really unique selection. If you havent been there, make sure you go soon. A must experience pastry shop. My wife and I drive all the way from Carlsbad to Poway for the pastry and its worth it.

First time here today. Beautiful selection of pastries, cakes, cookies, etc. Highly recommend this to anyone reading this. So good we will be going back again in the next day or two. Very authentic European pastries and cakes. Delicious macaroons.

Walk in, no greeting, guy on the phone and not even a nod or smile. I walk to browse and have questions because Im not sure what some of the desserts were. Person working in the back doesnt come out and guy is still on the phone. Im sorry but Im not going to spend my hard earned money when you cant take the one second to just acknowledge me. I would have happily waited then

Yummy cookies and pastries. Ive only been here a few times but each time Ive purchased a different assortment of baked goods from the display case. Ive tried the napolean, the cookies, the chocolate mousse cake/dome, and the green horn? I dont remember but they were all pretty good, except the chocolate mousse cake was ok...mediocre at best. It wasnt like a super fancy mousse pastry. Next time I go back I definitely want to try the talked about princess cake!The only downside is theres only one person working the front and and if you go near lunch time be prepared to wait. As she takes the orders and makes the food for the people dining in before taking any counter orders.

We ordered a GF birthday cake for my aunt’s 80th birthday. It was good and just as ordered but boy, was it sweet!!

Came Saturday. Service slow. Apple strudel not fresh, but OK. Cinnamon bun was old and bread, little flavor and little topping. Best thing was Nutella strawberry crepe, at least that was fresh. Price OK.

I found this place by just searching for nearby food after work and when I saw they had gluten-free pastries, I was sold!! I was able to surprise my mom (who is gluten-intolerant) with the kind of pastry she hasn’t been able to eat in years while also getting myself a really good flatbread sandwich. I can’t wait to go back and some other goodies for my mom’s birthday!!

I ordered a very special and customized Princess cake for my moms birthday, and they made so pretty and delicious in a short period of time. Their cakes and pies are amazing, taste better than any bakery in SD!!

Ordered a birthday cake for my wife and everyone raved about how good it was! This was my first time visiting the Swedish Royal Bakery and it will not be my last. Check it out you will not be disappointed. Everyone is friendly, they have a multitude of choices and my cake was ready on time.

The only place in San Diego county that makes a truly Gluten-Free cake. I called 8 different bakeries that claim gluten-free all over their websites. When I told them the cake is for someone with Celiac they all admitted they are not truly gluten-free; they cross-contaminate. Swedish Royal Bakery takes gluten-free seriously. I ordered their GF raspberry chocolate cake. Everyone was amazed at how good it was. $50 but worth it to present cake & ice cream to someone with Celiac.

Everything looked good but tasted horrible. The little mint cookies had no taste of mint at all, rather they were old tasting like the refrigerator. The raspberry cookie had no taste of raspberry to be found. In all I spent $50 on different desserts only to throw them all out. Most tasted the same, chocolate and sickening sweet. This was our second time trying this place and we wont be back.

If there was zero star i would, actually not ever zero below zero. My review is too late for what happened with my wedding cake. The most important night of my life. I have no words to describe how horrible this place i swear dont go here. I ordered my cake and the guy was like oh yeah it will be just like you wanted. Absolutely not. I paid $1000, please people when you pay $1000 for a cake, you expect something phenomenal!! Amazing! But not with this freaking place. I wish i can show you how the cake look from the back, so unprofessional. I regret everything about this place, i also had to travel after my wedding so I didn’t really have time to go fight with them and get my money back. I hate them because they made the most important cake of my life horrible looking.i wish i can show you original cake and the “cake” they made. Anyway, i dont want any other girl experience this. Just go to vons i swear they do better job than this place. I wish i can go back to 2017 and ask my money back cuz the cake was a joke and I actually hope the owner contacts me so i can complain officially

The Princess Cake was to die for! My girlfriend is actually Swedish and she loved it as much as I did. Dont waste your time and energy making an ordinary cake. Let the peeps at Swedish Royal Bakery do it for you!

I visited this (so called) Swedish bakery yesterday and did not recognize any of the baked goods as swedish. I’m Swedish myself and got really disappointed!! They obviously have new owners and that explains why they don’t know how it should be... Maybe they should change name of the company and bake something they know instead

This bakery has been in business for over 10 years at this location. It was founded by a Swedish family. For nine years they created fantastic, authentic Swedish desserts. Unfortunately, the Swedish family moved back to their native land about a year ago and took with them all the knowledge and skill needed to run a Swedish bakery. The new owners might appear to run a Swedish bakery, but in reality it is only a front for a shop that is likely only able to pay its rent by selling sub-par sandwiches and insulting imitations of classic Swedish recipes.In my most recent visit, which is also going to be my last, I was disappointed in the quality of the food mostly. The kokosbollar (chocolate/coconut balls) were overly sweet, the biskvi (almond cookie with chocolate mousse) lacked consistency - some cookies were overcooked some were undercooked and doughy, and the vanilla hearts were too doughy as well as being overcooked - these should be light almost airy.No, this bakery does not provide authentic Swedish desserts.
