This place has great customer service and a great selection of high quality comfortable shoes. Their employees are super patient and very helpful. I’m in my early 30s, but have lots of problems with my feet and it’s hard to find comfortable, supportive shoes that don’t look like I’m an 80 year old. They have styles that I would consider wearing. The shoes are good quality and their prices are extremely competitive for the brands they carry. They also do shoe repair which I’ve used several times.

I walked in today ready to spend good money on a pair of shoes. Sadly, not one person greeted me or offered to help. The manager even came out of his office, looked at me, and proceeded to have a conversation with his off duty employee instead. Won’t shop where I’m not welcomed.

I had called just three weeks earlier to verify that Modern Shoe did resoling of boots and shoes. I was told by them that they didThen yesterday I went in with a pair of boots and pair of shoes. The employee had the nerve to tell me they quit repairs a long time ago. The old man retired. That was LONG before I made the phone callLousy service, seesawing in their responses, not forthcoming with suggestions about what I can do. When I finally asked then they gave me a referral.LOUSY service. I wish I could give them negative stars on this response, but they will NEVER get any stars from me. Im going elsewhere from now on. I had to give one star just to post or else there would be none.

There is a tailor shop right next door and he was so easy to work with and fixed my leather purse very quickly for $10.

Great customer service. Over several visits Hannah helped both my son and I find appropriate work boots that fit well for both my high instep and my sons size 14 EEE feet. They arranged to special order the boots for my son and have them shipped home. Also had them repair 2 leather belts for my son and I. We are both quite pleased with the results and the extra mile they went to condition a belt. Price for belt repair was quite reasonable, will be back with more to fix next time. 4 thumbs up!

I have shopped here before and had a great experience. However I had the worst experience this week and will not be returning. I called ahead asking if they had the shoe I wanted so I didn’t waste time. They said they did. After getting there the person helping me didn’t know what I was talking about, said they didn’t have any kitchen shoes, and that the shoe I wanted was not in stock. They didn’t offer to help me further or offer alternatives.

I generally love Modern Shoe. They have great quality shoes, a wonderful selection and kind and knowledgeable staff. Prior to this last experience, Id give them my highest rating. I returned a pair of shoes over 48 hours ago and record of the transaction still has not shown up in my account. I called yesterday to inquire about the delay and I was informed that it usually takes a couple of days. Come on, Modern Shoe. The moment the goods are back into your inventory, the money should be back in my account.....

I have been coming here for years and consider them a fine option for quality shoes suited for athletics, hiking, and even steel toe workboots if that is what your after. They also repair shoes so if your ol pair of cowboy boots is in need of some TLC, youd do well to bring them here.

My wife began buying high quality shoes here 1st; even though she is a penny pincher, she came to Modern Shoe to spend more on shoes, purely for foot comfort.I recently spent over $200 at a September sale, including around $180 for very beautiful leather dress shoes, which turned out to be extremely uncomfortable. No padding or arch support became more and more onerous, the Ionger I stood in them at the wedding festivities I attended. I understand shoes which have been worn a couple of times cant always be returned. However, I hoped to at least arrive at some sort of accommodation or partial refund, store credits, etc., with Tony, the owner, to whom I was referred by a store clerk.3/15/21 - Response to response from owner – Hey Tony, appreciate your response. Thanks for the correction - If the shoes were only $135, I must have spent much more on the ancillary items than I thought. Still a lot of money for me, but I had a history with Modern Shoe and wanted to support local brick and mortar. Maybe it was just a bad day for you, but, in my opinion, customer satisfaction didn’t seem to be the vibe. To help you remember, I informed you my shoes were in the car and that I would be happy to go get them. That didn’t appear to matter to you on that day. (Why would you think I was going to get the shoes out of my car, after you indicated they were unreturnable?)Your policy was “no returns on sale items,” and you made it clear that retrieving my shoes from the car would be pointless. Location is clean and has a great selection, especially since the store is so small. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I went in with foot pain, and the staff was able to make recommendations and took the time to find the right shoe for me.Great store!

Very happy with their work. They restored a 25-year-old Tommy Bahama casual shoe that I had given up on. They replaced the sole with one that was similarly colored and seems more robust than the original.Staff were friendly and helpful! Work was very professional!Highest marks!!!

This place is always awesome. I get my work boots from here. They have a great selection of safety toe boots from metatarsal welding boots to Reebok shoes. The sales associates are always super helpful and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend going here for shoes, boots, socks and anything in-between. 5 stars for sure!

Small town service is great. I felt like I received personal attention. My questions were answered and the staff took time to make sure I got the help I needed. Plus, I caught a great sale.

I bought a pair of Merrell boots that started falling apart early. Modern Shoe not only helped me get the boots warrantied, but they also let me switch brands. I chose a pair of Keen boots that I am much happier with. Its because of service like this that I always shop at Modern Shoe before anywhere else. I have now purchased several pairs of shoes from them.

I lost part of the heel of my favorite boots while on vacation so I took it in to Modern Shoe to repair. I was in and out quickly, they repaired it in less than a week, cleaned my shoes up, and ended up costing less than what they originally told me. 10/10 definitely recommend them!

It is a nice shop with a big selection of quality shoes. The people who work there are incredibly knowledgeable of the shoes, they just dont seem to want people in for business. Its like a shop run by hipsters. Still a nice shop though.

They have amazing service here. I thought this was the way with shoe stores in this caliber, but since I moved away and have tried shopping for shoes with my special needs in mind, I realized how good I had it with Modern Shoe. I will sometimes wait to buy shoes until I am visiting Provo so that I can get good advice at Modern Shoe. If you have foot problems especially, dont sleep on this wonderful store.

I took my Frye Americana boots to them to get the top of the boot stretched a bit. I was a little nervous because the boots originally cost just under $700. These guys did a FLAWLESS job and had it done the next day! They only charged me $7.99 too! Would DEFINITELY go back to them if I needed anything done!

These shoes are high end brands of every day and mildly athletic shoes (walking for exercise, hiking). Keen, Merrill, Dansko, etc. Theyre shoes you buy to last for more than one season. The customer service is correspondingly good. I havent had to wait when I go in. If you want inserts, they have multiple brands and will spend considerable time helping you find the right ones. There is no sense of impatience on their part. There is zero pressure to buy. Modern Shoe also has shoe repair services that Ive used to repair leather shoes and mend worn soles. The work is good.

No better place for shoes in Utah Valley! Ive been shopping here for years and love the quality of the shoes and the helpfulness of the staff. After 7 foot surgeries my podiatrist wont let me shop any where else. You get the comfort and value of what you pay for. Love this place!

I have been going to Modern Shoe for my shoe repairs & shoe purchases for several years now, and I enjoy the large selection of shoes, the excellent customer service, their sales and ESPECIALLY their knowledge of the foot. They have been able to help me immensely with my high arches & metatarsal head pain in my right foot. Tony (the owner) was able to recommend the right type of shoe for me to wear, and he even made me insoles that help the problem as well. My foot pain is now gone & I owe it to Tony & his shoe store! I definitely recommend this cute little local shop to anyone looking for quality shoes & quality care.

My experience in the store was pleasant.However, as I wore the shoes I purchased around the house,I could see the fit was not going to work for me.The store has a no return, no exchange policy.I have a $150 pair of shoes I wont be able to wear.There are stores in the area with a more a reasonable return policy.I will be buying a pair at one of those storesto replace those I bought at ModernWouldnt you hate an experience like that?that I cant wear.

I had a pair of sandals that I need altered to fit me properly. I couldnt decide if I should send them back or try to get them fixed because I knew it wouldnt be a simple fix. A friend recommended Modern Shoe, so I went in there and spoke woth Landon he kind of gave me a look and said it wont be easy but I can do it. I expected to pay alot but I went to get them and not only were they perfect but I paid very little. Landon works miracles and he treated me like we had been friends for a while.Thanks again Landon I couldnt be happier

I left my shoes here for a repair and went back later to find out that they were not able to be repaired. Furthermore, I had the same model of shoes (different color) with the same problem repaired in Mexico in less than 2 hours, and they still work fine. So why couldnt Modern Shoe repair them?

This is what every shoe shopping experience should be like. Upon walking in the store, a very friendly employee approached me and offered to help me find what I was looking for. She sized my feet, helped me find shoes that were ideal for my needs, and fitted them to my feet, selecting shoes that would be most comfortable for my feet specifically. She helped me to understand as well what I should look for in fitting shoes whenever Im purchasing, whether or not at their store. In order to make my shoes fit appropriately, she helped us make minor adjustments to straps and insoles, and worked with us until we were comfortable with the shoes and with our purchase.These people clearly know feet, and have a focus on satisfying their customers rather than moving product. I wish I could send all my friends here, especially for important shoe purchases such as boots or mission shoes.

I give Modern Shoe 5 stars because the selection is great for Birkenstock’s and this is the only store I have ever come across that is an authorized Birkenstock repair shop.My wife bought be some Milano Birks here and had the cobbler put in a soft footbed. They did this for us no questions asked.I can honestly say it was an amazing decision as the Milano in a true leather does not come with the soft footbed. The soft footbed is a must have and totally worth the extra couple dollars for any birk.This store can fix and Birkenstock in any condition. I don’t think most people know about this store. And for that reason you should shop here for Birkenstock sandals and repairs.

I have known the owner for over 20 years and always had a helpful, informative experience. Their wide variety of footwear is reasonably priced and high quality. Their repair shop is amazing!

I purchased an old suitcase from a local thrift store and it needed restitching in a few places. I took the item to Modern Shoe and asked them if they could do the job and how much it would cost. Two individuals came from the back and looked at and bid $25-$30 for the job. I agreed and left it with them. A bit over a week later I get a call to come the their store. I thought the job was done but was disappointed to see that they hadnt even started. Puzzled, I looked at the man that made the bid and asked whats up? He said we under bid the job and it will cost $50 to do what you asked us to do. Thoroughly disgusted I said, I have plans for this bag and I was hoping you were calling me in for me to pick it up. Unfortunately for me I was in a hurry and needed the case done and therefore I agreed to the adjusted price and am still waiting for their call. In my most humble opinion, this is not the ideal way to treat a customer...guaranteed I will not use them again since they obviously cant honor their quotes.

I need quality, professional-looking dress shoes that are comfortable enough to walk in all day, every day. Modern Shoe has by far the best selection of shoes that fit the bill--way better than any department store selection Ive found. The four pairs of shoes Ive purchased over the past six or so years from Modern Shoe were a bit more expensive than Id typically pay for, say, a pair of hiking shoes, but definitely worth it. Every pair Ive bought here Ive worn to pieces, and it took well over a year of near daily wear before they started to look thrashed. A cheap-o payless pair wouldnt even last six months.

Great repairs, but pretty poor customer service. Was told that the repairs on my wifes boots would take a week, so I came back in a week later. After waiting 15 minutes while other customers were being helped, they went to find the shoes only to find them still in the cobblers shop, unfinished. No phone call, no warning. Then we were told it would be done first thing Monday morning. But when we called, it wasnt going to be done until 2pm. It was supposed to be a surprise gift, but it was ruined without any communication and unmet expectations. The repairs are great and the prices were fine. Shoe repairs sometimes take longer than expected and that is reasonable, but a 30-second phone call to inform us that they would be a few days late would have been much appreciated.

I have problem feet. As a size 7EEEE, with neuromas, heel spurs, high arches, pinched nerves, etc... I have a bit of a challenge finding shoes that fit and dont aggravate my pain.I came in to the store, desperate for relief, on a busy summer afternoon, when the staff must have been tired and ready to go home. I had done some early reconnaissance on Saturday afternoon to see what might be on sale. A few of the employees remembered me from that brief visit and were very friendly as I returned. The staff was incredibly patient as I tried on shoe after shoe. Several of them listened to me as I complained and even teared up in frustration about my shoe and foot problems. This was during your annual sale, so it was a particularly busy time, and it would have been easy treat me poorly, ignore me, or give up on me. Darryl must have run up and down the stairs twenty times looking for shoes that would work for me. In the end, we were only partially successful, but Im thrilled with my new Apex Ambulators. The first time I wore them, I realized how wonderful it was to be able to wear any shoes without pain.I had to return my p.w. minors, which made me sad. I had high hopes that they would fit. Im just hard to fit, but we knew that. They made the return process friendly, and painless, and you trusted me to mail the enclosed insole, that I left at home. I live over ten miles from the store, so this is no small gesture, not to have to drive all the way home to get the insole before you would take back the shoes.Thank you, Modern Shoe for your high quality customer service. Youve not only given me hope that I can find shoes that fit without pain; youve restored my faith in humanity and business ethics. You are worth every penny I spent, and then some.
