Putnam stop & shop is much cleaner, than other stores that I have been in during the past few years. It is well stocked and there are actual cashiers working at the check out. I absolutely dislike stores that force its customers to use self check-out. Not only can it be frustrating but it also takes away local job opportunities!!

I started using pick up service. My first time several out of stocks and they did not do a replacement. Second time they did do replacement. Fast and easy.

Everything here is fresh. Gotta check the circular for sales as prices can be a little high. Good service

I used to love going there. Place went down hill since covid. They never have anything and the lines are soo long. I keep going back thinking things will change. I get disappointed every time.

Great store deli is the best around

I was a customer here for over a decade. Quite often I would bring the produce home to find that parts of it had already turned, and packaged meats I have purchased here I have found to be slimy and near or past expiration. Most recently, my car had been hit hard in the parking lot by a cart that an employee had staged in the lot, which caused noticeable damage to my rear number. I was told the manager was gone for the day, and so I called in the following day. I was told by the store manager that my claim was filed, and their insurance company would be in touch within a week. While still patiently waiting for their insurance company over 3 weeks later, my car was ONCE AGAIN struck in the parking lot by a stray cart. I was sitting in the car for both of these occurrences (COVID shopping with spouse). This time it wasn’t one staged by their employee, but was instead due to all of their cart containment areas being full and overflowing. There was not a single employee in the lot collecting carts on the windiest day of the month, and my car now has significant damage to the front end. Once again I called the manager, and received next to no assistance at all. He assured me an email had already been sent to corporate about the first incident, and that it was out of his hands. After shopping here for about 12 years, I will not be shopping here again. I would recommend going anywhere else, as this is the most expensive grocery store locally, have the worst quality meat and produce, and their parking lot is sure to leave your vehicle damaged while you are shopping.

Love Stop and Shop, always have great produce, love that there shelves are always stocked. The deli is also great, always have fresh cold cuts, and delicious prepared foods.

I went in to stop & shop, and I noticed a robot that I thought was a floor cleaning machine. This robot named Marty is a security/surveillance robot. It drives around with little cameras all over it looking for security issues. We have enough cameras on us day, to day we dont need the little robot patrolling around watching everything, thats what the cameras all over the store are for. Stop & shop should have done the right thing, saved probably over $40000 and put it towards a real life employee, a real person can see threats, far faster than any robot. I do not feel safer with a robot. A real person has the ability to detect subtle hints that a robot never will. A real employee, also would take that money and pay for their home, family, and pay taxes. That would actually help contribute to the economy, and society.I will not be going to this store any longer due to this robot, I will take my money to shops that hire people, that can actually contribute to society.It is too bad, the gentleman with the beard working at the seafood counter was extremely helpful, the cashier was very kind, there are very good employees at this store. I wish they had hired another real person, instead of buying this obnoxious robot. if not for Marty I would be back buying seafood, and meats. Instead I will be going to a different market for my groceries.

Prescriptions, Cortland apples and nice bouquets brought me into the Putnam S & S today. I must say I was quite satisfied with all three. This store is a bit unique, parking-wise, as you enter at one side of the store and exit at the other.

Ive shopped here in person and Ive had good experiences during those visits. But yesterday I decided to try out the curb-side pickup service they offer as I am trying to limit my contact with others, and it would allow me to manage my time a little more efficiently. I placed my order for a pickup time slot in the afternoon of the following day.When I rolled up 20 minutes into the 1 hour window and called, I was told that my order was running late and that they would call when it was ready, no problem. I returned 10 minutes after my 1 hour pickup window ended and gave them a call again, just in case I possibly missed their call. I was told my order would be ready the following hour and to wait for them to call me. I waited over an hour in the parking lot with no call from pickup. Since my phone was about to die, I decided I would cancel my order, so I called to let them know I would like to cancel and be refunded my money. I was told my order was ready and that they had been waiting for me. I dont know if it was miscommunication or a lack of my understanding of the process, but I was told to wait for their call for when my order would be ready (since it was going to be late). The woman was very apologetic and I appreciate that.Anyways, while a bit annoying I could live with it. Ive worked retail and know it can be difficult for everything to go exactly as planned. I accepted the groceries and went on home.Now at this point I had no intention of writing this review, I figured my situation was something that seldom happens. But as I was unloading my groceries I found that the heavy whipping cream was covered in what I assume was old gelatinous dirty dry milk. It was disgusting! I was so shocked that I forgot to take a photo of it and went about cleaning it off. I mean this thing looked like it had been dragged across the floor of the milk cooler (seriously take a look at the floor in one of those).Then as I was unloading the rest, I noticed the poultry seasoning I bought was missing a third of its contents! I opened the cap and there was seasoning dusted inside the cap. The seal was loose so I cant in good faith use the product so I plan on throwing it out. I did take photos of that at least.I have never had a truly negative experience at this store until trying curb-side pickup. Which is why Im giving it 2 stars and not 1. Its a fine place to shop in person, but I will be trying the pickup option else where.

I found that some of your produce was not that good. The strawberries was beat up and had some mold.

Smaller Stop and Shop so they do not carry everything. The fruit and produce are always in good condition. I do wish they would get the taste of inspirations deli meat at this location.

Yesterday I was there to get my online pick up and I was very disgusted with the service they were very late after already rescheduling me when I got there to call a young girl answer the phone that was very rude to me by the name of Emily she told me that if I didnt like it I should do my own shopping and hung up!!! and when I finally got my order I was told most of it was out of stock and I was not given any options for substitutions the worst part is I felt that they were just not wanting to help me so I sent my son in and very clearly he could see the items on the shelf or not out of stockI dont understand how they can have these young disrespectful people working for their company from now on Ill be going to Dayville

Horrible manager there. Miserable and dang keep that store stocked ur not doing ur job. I live 2 minutes and i go out of my way to another stop and shop. Shouldnt be weeks on end theres no meat or frozen veggies. I have rainchecks i need to redeem in others stores who orders minimal food. Horrible store stock.

Friends had been telling me that the stores of this chain had the best pandemic practices theyre seen. I was impressed. I cant use the store nearest my home right now (a Price Chopper ) because its next to our state university which has had to quarantine several dorms already due to covid among the residents.

Ive shopped at Shaws and I find Shaws has fresher produce than at stop & shop.

Clean and always well stocked. Even during the COVID-19 shortages, I found more items available here than surrounding stores. Staff is helpful and friendly. While Stop & Shop tends to have higher prices, Im willing to make the trade off for a less crowded store and no lines.

Other than I got in & found a couple of deals & not on food. Not much to say except they should open both sets of doors they will not go over capacity. Dont be stupid like walmart

Worked perfectly (curbside pick-up)

Patrons are not following covid-19 regulations, and there is no enforcement. As such, shopping here feels very uncomfortable from a safety standpoint.Furthermore, cashiers will not help you bag your groceries at this time. So the cashier completes one job, which is to swipe your groceries from one belt to the next. You complete all the work on either end of the cashier, which, believe it or not, is challenging to manage when you have followed the rule of coming into the store alone.Therefore, on top of the anxiety that you have felt throughout your entire shopping experience because people were either not wearing masks, not social distancing, chatting with their friends across aisles you needed to access, or brought several guests in for the weekly shopping trip, you now get to enjoy the stress and pressure of the patrons behind you in line staring you down as you attempt to hastily and apologetically bag your own groceries. If you must shop here, self checkout at least.

This store is clean and everyone has a mask on with social distancing. Very courteous. I no longer go to WalMart in Putnam. Some people dont wear masks and when I brought it to the attention of a store clerk he said that they dont enforce that. I pay a few cents more at Stop & Shop but I want to live. They work by a higher standard naturally.

Decent selection but overpriced - they would rather throw out meat, fruit and vegetables then to give everyone a fair price. I see it happen and even told em lower your prices and wouldnt kill so many animals in vain and throw away all that meat, veg, fruits - in turn would help out your customers and allow them to eat healthy without going broke.

The freshest? A simple YES! Upon entering the produce section, I was impressed with such a great and abundant selection of which I had eagerly sought bargains. The grocery aisles were sufficiently stocked . I was able to do a thorough frugal shopping. The lot is huge and offers easy access. I was also able to fuel up my car at the gas station near the exit. I even saved money .

Very clean store. Have alot of options and varieties. Prices are a little high sometimes but they allow anyone to use their store card which provides coupons and discounts which Is very useful and will save u alot. Have good prices on meats and day old /clearance fruits veggies. They have return bottle,can and plastic machines. And bakery has great deals all the time.

Stop n Shop is a great store. A lot of great sales and they dont run out of thing as a rule either. But if they happen to you can easily get a rain check and its a great way to still get the sale price when it comes in. You can get your gas points with your SnS card too. Well worth the savings on the gas.

The manager Katherine was extremely rude to my friend and I over talking to my sister who works there. She didn’t politely tell us to not talk to her while she had customers and was very rude. We are still customers and deserve respect. I would of taken it kindly is she was more nicer.

This is a nice grocery store. Laid out well, cashiers are pleasant. Employees are knowledgeable and pleasant. Also Peoples United Bank has a branch there, employees are pleasant.

Place is clean, well tended, and well stocked., Seldom crowded! Great if you just need to run in for a few things and want to get in and out quickly. The folks working there are very friendly, helpful, and have a good knowledge of where things are and will help you find things if needed. Has a bakery, deli, seafood, and meat departments with good selections at reasonable prices. They have a store brand for just about everything and its frequently (not always) as good as name brands at a fraction of the cost. They have a savings card that saves you money aft the register and earns points toward savings at their gas station. The store is easy to get to, and has ample parking.

The staff is always friendly. Always a smile. The store is very clean and the shelves are always stocked, especially the sale items. The choice is great without being overwhelming. I do all my shopping there.

Today meat was not fresh, out of chocolate bars my husband likes, out of cat sand brand needed, Ben & Jerrys ice cream had been refrozen, cashier failed to ring up a coupon. Wont be going back unless I have no other choice.

Overpriced rather kill a cow or pig and throw the food away because didnt sell because price was too high - mentioned it several times and butcher always agreed.. Not to mention fruit, veggie, and fish way over priced as well - will go to market basket or big bunny.

I bought meat here yesterday only to realize it expired 10 days ago, my fault for not checking but still disgusting.

A nice place, but the Isles drive me crazy. They put a bunch of product displays in the middle of the aisle. You cant fit two carriages down the aisle. People just tend to push into each other.

Nice store and helpful staff but I just tried to eat the worst excuse for a tenderloin steak. It was tough, grizzly, tasteless and not cheap. This used to be a reliable purchase for a quick weekday threat. Will not be purchasing another unless the bar is raised substantially.

My uncle with down syndrome has worked at stop & shop for as long as I can remember and has loved every minute of it. I want to thank the people who were so kind to him and made him feel at home.

Stop and Shop are quality grocery stores. It bit pricey, but the selection of products and quality is what your paying for. I came here for special, vegan, and gluten free items and they had these items available.

Shop here all the time

Stop and shop carries organic greens, vegetables and fruit, and gluten free items. A whole isle is dedicated to organic foods and frozen goods i usually get at a coop. Its my go to store when i cant make trader joes or aldis. They even have my favorite frozen pizza shell against the grain and lillys chocolate past the frozen section which has stevia and no junk sugars. It has helped me change my diet to healthier eating. Choose their nature brand. The pharmacy has some of the best people. I transferred everything over from cvss maddening system. These folks are great.

This store is covienient and the staff are friendly. The cons of this store are as follows.1. The wait at the deli are unbearable, at Times you can wait up to one hour before being served. There is almost always no one at the seafood counter.2. If you enjoy a product dont count on them carrying if for very long, some items seem to be sparingly stocked.3. They almost religiously have only one or two cashiers at a time adding to your wait time.In short this Putnam stored issue is with staffing. They staff at bare bones minimum daily.
