Andie was absolutely amazing at my birth! Not only is she educated, but personable and very dependable. She was able to follow everything I had set in my birth plan while providing a huge support. She was mindful of my peeves and comforts, and maintained the right environment the entire labor. My total labor from water breaking to baby born was 32 hours, and she was there the whole time. She reminded me of questions that were good to ask when provided my options at the hospital, educated me, and kept an environment during my labor to keep me the most relaxed and enjoyable experience. I’ll never have another birth without her! 10/10
I gave birth 11 weeks ago and I couldn’t imagine going through it without my amazing doula support. I hired my doulas through Bright Heart Birth Services and am so glad I did! One thing I love about this organization is that you get a primary and a back-up doula, so you know you’ll always have someone there for you, especially if you have a long labor and your doula might need a break. I worked with Andie W. as my primary and Alyssa S. as my back up. My doulas met with my husband and myself twice before my labor. Both meetings had a ton of information about labor and delivery, and they answered our questions and provided resources to additional research based publications. Although my labor didn’t go quite as planned, the doulas had met us in our home for one of these meetings as our original goal was to labor in home for a while prior to the hospital transition. Each labor is unique.. and mine started with very rapidly progressing contractions that led me to head to the hospital within an hour of my labor starting. My doulas were texting with me the whole time (at 3-4am in the morning), and Andie W. met me in front of the ER. From that moment she never left my side! My contractions were 3min apart on arrival and I was having a ton of pain. Andie immediately used many different techniques to help me with the pain and helped communicate to the medical team what she knew about my labor so far. She got me in the shower right away, and helped me with touch and breathing techniques to work through the contractions. My labor was strong and fast, and I wasn’t getting much of a break between contractions. I told her I wanted an epidural and she helped me communicate this with the team. She stayed with me through that process as I moved to laboring in bed and helped hold me during the epidural insertion. After the epidural, she stayed by me and kept me company, continuing to offer her support. Andie decorated the room and turned on music.Eventually when it was time to push my care team decided to turn off the epidural. As my pain returned, Andie coached me through the breathing I needed to do while pushing. It was SO intense! And I just remember focusing on her voice to get through it. After my little one was born, she took a bunch of photos for me on my phone. She also helped encourage the nurses to assist me with my latch when I was having trouble getting started with breastfeeding. If you are a first time mom like me, I highly recommend hiring a doula! Seriously I have no idea how I would have made it through labor without Andie. Her support allowed my husband to rest and better process the birth as well. I don’t think it would have been such a positive experience without my doula by my side. It was worth every penny and is the one thing I would recommend most to all pregnant women!! Especially during the pandemic, it was beyond reassuring to know that my doula was allowed to be with me during labor.Andie & Alyssa also met with me post-partum and provided additional education. It was exciting having them both see my little one after he was born. My doulas are two of the kindest, most encouraging and empowering women. I highly recommend Andie and Alyssa!
Absolutely loved my Doulas Alyssa and Andie. I was unexpectedly sent to the hospital a week before my due date, extremely nervous I texted my doulas and they were so supportive and helpful offering advice and emotional support. Once I was admitted to the hospital me and my husband continued getting text of support and advice and reminders that they were ready to come when I felt I needed them. Once there Alyssa was amazing offering advice on different laboring positions, using essential oils and always ready to explain to me what the nurses were telling me. I dont know what I would have done without my doulas and couldnt imagine doing it again without them.I also want to mention that I had my placenta encapsulated, my doula did everything when it came to packing up my placenta and taking it to Sarah, I didnt even have to think about it. Sarah brought my pills to my apartment the day I got home, this was one of the best decisions I made. They help my energy and mood so much.
Sarah and Kristin attended the homebirth of my daughter, and their support has been utterly life changing for me. I had met both of them through attending their pregnancy circle at Biggest Little Baby (which they’re both amazing at facilitating). There are so many great things to say, I hardly know where to start. Both Sarah and Kristin made me (and my husband) feel comfortable both in our birth experience, and outside of it. It is clear that they both love what they do. I truly believe I couldn’t have had the birth experience I did without their labor support. Not only did they help me through labor in a way that was the right balance of hands on and hands off; but they provided resources before birth to help me plan for my postpartum self-care and labor which were invaluable to me and my husband. When I saw them both after birth they offered me what felt like deep friendship in processing my birth experience, assisting me with breastfeeding by providing appropriate lactation education, and resources, and just general postpartum love and support.I also chose to encapsulate my placenta at the recommendation of Sarah given that I had a history of severe postpartum depression, and not only has that been the best decision I could’ve made for myself; but Sarah came to drop them off (in my home, which blew me away- I didn’t even have to send my husband to get them!) and sat with me for an hour, answering all of my questions about the pills, checking in with me emotionally and providing even further resources for breastfeeding/postpartum. (Oh and getting some laughs in too, Sarah is hilarious). Plus I got really cool images/art of my placenta!I love this team, they will always hold a really special place in my heart for being a part of my experience. They were flexible with us where we needed it, and I truly believe their work is invaluable and think all women deserve to have this kind of support!! Hire them for your birth! You won’t regret it.
I cannot recommend working with Sarah highly enough. She is calm, joyful, and intuitive, and has an incredible base of knowledge and experience. Sarah was a constant and incredible support -- before, during, and after our birth. When outside circumstances led me to change providers and planned birth location at 32 weeks, Sarah helped me figure out a new plan of action (including taking the time to talk with me on night/weekend phone calls). As soon as I went into labor, she was 100% accessible and came over as soon as her support was needed, and stayed with me not only through the birth but for ample time afterwards, which was incredibly helpful to assist in some complications and added support I needed. Her follow-ups were thoughtful and catered to exactly what we needed.
After having two kids, I can say that I would never go through birth without a doula. Sarah was a true advocate during our entire pregnancy and birth experience. She is incredibly knowledgeable (more than most doctors, I found) about pregnancy, labor and early childhood development. She helped keep us grounded, calm and also made sure we made it to the hospital in time. She also helped us navigate the hospital, which was intimidating to say the least. Because of her, we were able to have exactly the birth we were hoping for. Could not recommend her and Bright Heart Birth enough. Thank you Sarah!
Sarah was professional and made our experience very memorable. Her guidance helped me focus on the needs of my wife and on being a Dad. Not knowing much about birth doulas going into the experience, I would recommend everyone look into this as an option. Sarah took all the pressure off, and Im so glad we hired her.
I am so happy that we had the Doula support! Thank you again soooooo much for going through this journey with us and to stand next to us at the right time with the right words. It was extremly helpful to had you as a part of it.Furthermore the shop, the over all support and the fitness classes are just amazing!!! You all do a very very good job in just being there for everyone who needs help, support or just a short talk.
Sarah has a gift for relating to people on a very personal level in order to provide outstanding support while respecting your privacy and standing up for your preferences. Doula support allowed for a beautiful birth and post partum experience for my whole family. We will be calling her for baby number 2!
As a first-time expecting father, having Sarah join us in our birth experience was a phenomenal experience. Prior to meeting Sarah, I harbored some of the common misgivings I hear from many dads-to-be. She set those concerns to rest - and how. My wife and I agree that Sarah was as great a supportive teammate in the birth process to me as she was to my wife - which is to say, incredibly supportive. There are many challenges and expectations new expecting fathers must cope with, and Sarah helped me navigate those hurdles and see the possibilities in our birth experience. Sarah has a gift for this work. If you are a father who wants to play a role in your partners birth, but you dont have experience or much support in the birth process, Sarah will facilitate a positive birth for you and your partner. I also encourage you to support your partner in asking about Sarahs post-partum assistance and placenta management options, too! Having a doula is as much for the dad as for the mom, and Sarah made it possible for our experience to be as positive as it was! Thank you, Sarah!
During the first 30 of 40 hours of labor, I was unmedicated. My doulas, Sarah Geo Walton and Kristin Murray, just kept pushing me to believe in myself and assured me that I would get through it, that I was strong, that this is how women have given birth for millennia. It was so reassuring to have someone advocating for your birth plan (whatever that might be) through the whole process. Even when I was swelling after pushing for 2 hours with no movement of the little guy, and after the birth plan got sidetracked and we did an epidural and a nap at hour 30 to avoid a cesarean, I felt comforted and supported and on the right track thanks to the experience and wise coaching of the doulas at BrightHeart. We recommend them to all our pregnant friends!
We would absolutely recommend Sarah to any of our friends who are, or are thinking about, becoming pregnant; as we would absolutely use her again. Sarah is available for any questions around the clock and her personality makes it so dang easy to like her.I went through the Bradley Method course, but was still planning on heavily relying on Sarah to sort through the chaos. Unfortunately, our story isnt what we planned, so we didnt get use Sarah where she performs her best. However, when we were rushing into an emergency Cesarean Section, Sarah bailed on the bridal party she was with, to rush to get to us, where she spent much of the night. I couldnt ask for more from Sarah.I didnt know what the heck a doula was before we became pregnant, but Im glad I found out. I recommend pregnant couples (or even those who want to become pregnant) give Sarah a shout-out--shell help you immensely through the crazy process.
I AM UPSET !!!!!!
