Great environment. Very good outdoor live music. There are plenty of tables with Adirondack chairs, umbrellas, etc. the bathrooms are very clean. You can order at one of the 3 bar areas or by phone. The staff is friendly and helpful about sharing information on the most popular beers. It’s outdoor dog friendly. There is parking. The outdoors is fairly wheel chair accessible.
This is THE destination in RVA for excellent craft beer served up by a cheerful, energetic crew. Hardywood offers beer for every taste from robust stouts to crisp wheats and tangy specialty beers that remind me of my favorite—sours. Both the casual beer drinker and beer connoisseur will appreciate the nuanced flavors in every sip.Adirondacks around fire pits, elevated decks, plenty of indoor seating, and rustic/industrial decor.Hardywood’s pizza kitchen turns out an authentic chewy crust with any topping you might want. Good vibes keep rolling with live music outside and on the inside stage. You’ll start and end your evening here.
Hardywood has great beers that rotate frequently. There are 3 bars you can order from and the lines are usually not long. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their beers. They have tons of indoor and outdoor seating with a shady area and you can bring your pets. It’s also pretty family friendly. They have events from time to time like live music and movie showings. They also sell merch like shirts, hats, coaster, etc as well as canned beer to bring home. Definitely one of my favorite breweries in Scott’s Addition!
Needed a good brew on a hot fall day. Was recommended to come here and check it out. This place is large and in charge. Massive outdoor patio with fire pits. Plenty of covered and uncovered patio seating options with a stage for entertainment. Inside has just as many options for seating with little nooks and video screen to a pizza kitchen for food. Kid and dog friendly and even has a large event room reserved for larger parties. Now for the beer I thought everything was great. The seasonal rum pumpkin isn’t really my thing but was good for what it’s style. Plus cold beer fridge for those who want theres to go. There usually suspects of pilsners, New England juicy ipas, and Hefeweizen were group favorites. Cheers!!!
A Richmond staple, I’d recommend checking it out if you’re in town. There is plenty of seating both outside and in. The staff was super friendly, and made sure to give their personal preferences when we were ordering. I wasn’t super impressed with the beer I got. I had their Tropic Like It’s Hot sour and it was good, but not one of the best I’ve ever had. That being said, it doesn’t necessarily depict the quality of the rest of their drinks. They had plenty of options. They were having live music but we left beforehand. Seems like a great social setting.
Hardywood West Creek BreweryI just went to a private event here for a company anniversary. This was my first time at this venue. It was great! Events can be in or outdoors, large or on a smaller scale. The staff was super nice and very helpful. The bartender was always happy to give advice about the beer on tap. Our group will be going back again.
This place is spectacular, great vibes! Huge and so many places to order beers and drinks! Its got a really nice outdoor space and a big list of beer. Inside and outside options are endless. Roll on out and enjoy this bomb spot
Awesome experience! The brewery has everything: unique and fine-crafted beers, an inspired menu of delicious food, commitment to the environment, lovely wait staff. We wandered in to try a new brewery on the beer trail and ended up staying for hours!
Hardywood Pils is the best damn beer youll have, until you have their seasonal beers...
The beer was good and so was the pizza. We had no problem finding a seat even though google said it was as busy as it gets.
First time in Richmond & Hardywood. The beer was delicious. This Ohio girl gives them 5 stars. The place is just so chilled. I am definitely returning when I am back in the area.
Venue greatly improved after the recent remodel. Beers have also trended upward in quality as of late.
Unique location. Good beer too but bartenders need to lighten up a little. A bit snarky for my taste. Have some fun man!
Food, drinks and service were all fantastic.
Great patio to hang with the dog and some friends. Pizza was very tasty!
We showed up to a really awesome venue, live music going for hours. The beer selection is small and food menu, mind you I am from Washington State and the beer list is quite large everywhere so we are spoiled in that regard. I tried every beer, I really enjoyed this 12% Belgian, my gf thought it was like medicine but I disagree, lol. It wasnt heavy for being 12% and I drank two. We had half servings the rest of the night with some pizza. Small pizza menu and dessert, but with that aside I liked the vibe and I think anyone wanting music and beer should go. I noticed a schedule that had a line up daily of many different genres of music which shod suit anyone reading this review. Happy drinking guys!
Great brewery & fantastic atmosphere. They have a nice wide selection of beer. Ive always loved their lager and great return IPA but tonight I found the marshmallow version of the ginger bread stout and WOW! So freaking good.
Dog friendly, live music, clean and fun. Parking is a problem but the nature of Richmond.
EXCELLENT MODERNIZED/UPGRADED VENUE with EXCELLENT, RECOGNIZABLE beverages.
The atmosphere is great, the beers just weren’t. Had two different stouts and left almost full beers back on the bar. One glass had lipstick residue on it.
Great beer, even better people.
Friendly staff and I love the outside part with the fireplace and plenty of seating!
Ive only ever experienced Hardywood outside of the Brewery but got to actually experience the brewery today. It was nice for covid.
Great beer, but I had to walk up to the window. Would have been easier to scan a qr and order that way like other breweries Ive been to.
Great outdoor space
Always an awesome place and a true Richmond Classic. Plenty of space and great live music on the weekends. The beer is always a hit, generally errs on the side of darker stuff, which is a nice break from the rest of Richmond. The stouts they make are some of the best out there, and the IPAs are good as well. They’re not generally known for Saison type beers though. (Pictured is the Autocorrect New England IPA)
Good place, lots of different beer, tables outdoors, pets friendly. We liked it, but a bit pricey
Great for a quick drink with friends on a Sunday afternoon
This place has really gone downhill in the last five years or so. I used to be sure I could find a high quality beer at any time, but now there are days where there is not much of interest if you arent an IPA drinker. What really put the nail in the coffin was a trip to the tasting room in mid October for a Farmhouse Pumpkin only to find out that they didnt have any more of it. Are you kidding me? Thats what happens when you release your pumpkin ale in the summer. Also, where is the Irish Ale that all breweries should have? Overall, I feel that Hardywood has drifted more towards size and profit than quality. The smaller bottles available at stores in the last few years exemplify this. Its really a shame. Stick with Blue Mountain and COTU.
The Raspberry Stout was very well done
Love the beer, service, and setting. One of the most family friendly spots around. Also, pretty easy to socially distance here, so thats a plus right now.
Great vibe, good beer, nice employees.
It was the West Creek location. We appreciate your reply to our post/review.
Love the beer. Love the atmosphere. Love the food truck night. The one star is due to the final experience while here. It is 10:30p (they closed at 10). We were outside finishing our drink and conversation at a table. One of the employees asked if we were done. We said we were not-- then he said we closed 30 minutes ago. I asked if we needed to leave. He said It would be helpful so we can clean up. Normally, I would apologize and leave-- however, a few minutes later the employees were outside enjoying a beverage. Draw your own conclusions .... I will return... But wont stay here to connect with old friends....
Great vibes and great beers. Good covid rules in place to keep everyone safe
My favorite Richmond brewery but covid safety protocols have fallen off since their construction project started. I ordered beer on-line in advance and parked on the north side of the building. To get to the take-out counter, I had to run a gauntlet of unmasked people in a narrow walkway between a construction fence and the building. Of course people have to remove masks to drink beer, but a table shouldnt be placed in a confined area where social distancing is not possible.
My beer-loving son from upstate NY absolutely loves this place! I actually bought him 2 growlers for Christmas and spent a fortune shipping them to him--but it was totally worth it. I am not much of a beer drinker, but I had a great time here anyway.
Always a great time! Never disappointed
Hardywood Park makes great beer. But visiting the brewerys tasting room is a great experience. The owners are great, down-to-earth guys. You can purchase pints for consumption on premises, buy a growler and fill it to go, or buy bottled beer of one of their many different brews. Id recommend almost anything in the Barrel Series, already wonderful beers that have been aged in local bourbon barrels.Another great recommendation (as any local beer lover will tell you) is the Gingerbread Stout. This annually produced award winning beer generates lines outside their building every November for days after its release!
It was a great place to hangout. The food trucks were an eclectic mix of fun and worth the visit!! The beer selection was broad but expensive... add tax and youre spending $6 per 12oz can and 10oz draft. Parking was a challenge but workable. A beer and a bite for 2 tagged $40+.
One of the best brewery in the area. Live music and always a great selection of beer.
If you dont come here in the summer for food trucks and live music, can you even say youre from Richmond? This is an absolute staple of the city and an all-around good time. Knowledgeable staff, good vibes, excellent beer. Cant ask for much more.
This place is great. First off its pretty huge, large outdoor seating area, plenty of seating inside too with two bars, and its nice and open. The beer tender was a great help and gave me a brief description on each of their beers on tap which was much appreciated. I ended up with a west coast IPA called Great Return, hoppy and piney just as it was described to me. Great experience, will return next time Im in town!
First time at this location but great feel..was there to see Kyle Davis preform..great selection of beers..great place to hang out with friends
Great beer, and usually great live music. Also tend to have great food trucks here. Tonight I had the grapefruit Singel, and a fabulous wood-fired pizza from River City. Bands were all solid, especially loved Pistol Sister.
When you enjoy drinking special beers, you need to go to this brewery and take a tour. Youll get a souvenir tasting glass and can try three different brews during the tour. Theyll tell mostly about the brewery and only little about the brewery process. The bar has a nice industrial atmosphere and theres live music being played regularly. There are many homemade brews on tap and canned you can try.
Hardywood is a great place. Excellent beers and good people. It has everything I like; beer, music and the occasional food truck. They do a strong job at having events that reach a broad audience. From young to old.Would have given 5 Stars if they had better parking options.
A well done brewery. However, when we stopped by there wasnt anything we couldnt get up here at the same price so we actually left without a purchase. That doesnt detract from the establishments great presentation, but the line could absolutely deserve to move a bit faster. We stood there for a good few minutes while people were placing gigantic orders at the bar upon opening before deciding to move on to the next brewery.
Beer is not great... Lot of peach brews. The bourbon aged is really bourbon forward, and I did like that. The one staffer was pretty rude. The guy was cool that poured us, but the one chic was incredibly course about a friend who brought a dog. And I quote... You cant have your dog in here. Thats gross. Even reiterated the fact 5 minutes after the dog was gone when another of our group went for a brew. The layout is nice, very open, but wont be back. Plenty of far more dog friendlies on the peninsula.
Just moved back to the area and my old friends took me here. Great beer, cool outdoor area with a good lineup of food trucks. Cant wait to return with nicer and warmer weather to hang out outside and take a tour of the brewery!
I dropped by after work. There were 3 food trucks on site and my group sat outside. They allow you to run a tab if you leave a credit card at the bar. I enjoyed the beer and intend to try their other flavors in future visits (I only had time for two beers...I had the tangerine and a pilsner....cant remember their names). The atmosphere was fun and the seating was comfortable. The worst part of the experience was finding a place to park. Regardless, I look forward to going back soon.
Great beer selection and something for everyone. I highly recommend making some time to tour the brewery. Nice to see people bring out their families and fur children. They have a decent variety of food trucks outside.
Lovely light lagers
Great selection of beers brewed in house. Nice facilities and fun events. Bluegrass jam once a month is fun!
Awesome. This place is great for casual dates, hanging out with friends and even pets. The food trucks are great. Prices are pretty reasonable and the beer selection is extensive.
Best beer in Richmond. They have multiple taps and usually have live music. Their beer is always delicious and people cant get enough of it. Large open area outside and usually lots of food trucks. Great place to make an afternoon of it.
Really awesome beer. Had a great time here
Excellent selection
Huge open spaces to hang out in plus a nice outdoor space. Great beer with a lot of choices on tap. Lots of live music with enough space to be as near or far for your listening pleasure
Hardywood has by far the best stout beers that I have ever had. The type of stout varies seasonally (gingerbread, bourbon barreled, etc.). They often have parties to celebrate the releases of new beers. They always have a great 4th of July party. The Richmond Flying Squirrels baseball field is nearby the Hardywood brewery, so the brewery provides the perfect setting for a fantastic free fireworks viewing. The brewery also often has music on the weekends.
The quality has dropped tremendously as theyve grown. Used to love their VIPA and their Tropication. Stopped in recently to buy both, came home and found they are both significantly more malty than they used to be. Wont be stopping in here anymore, quite disappointed.
Hardywood makes some of the best beer in Richmond. The brewery is an old warehouse turned brewery with the industrial look that many craft breweries have. Theres live music and multiple bars as well as seating to give you the environment you want.
Honestly the best beer I’ve ever had. The Singel can’t be beat and their staffs is extremely gracious.
If they only produced Christmas morning I would be happy. If anyone makes a better stout than hardywood I havent tried it- their seasonal stouts from GBS to Kentucky Christmas morning are just the most incredible. Love these guys
This place is heaven of Stout! I hope they have this Line day and night the whole year. Must not mess to pass by when your around and once this place is available.
Very good shrimp po boy !
Its a good concept. Service is horrible. The have issues with their tap lines at times. The food trucks outside are great and people can bring their kids and dogs. The beer they make in 750s is good, but not worth the price tag. Parking is available on street. This place does get pretty busy.
Great experience! Quality beer, super casual atmosphere and really friendly staff. Wish you were in Virginia Beach!
Best stouts in the world. The GBS line should be sold all year long. Nothing even comes close to this amazing line. Inside and outside this wonderful establishment you will not only find the best of Richmond but also some of the best food trucks around. Not to mention how beautiful their wood top bar is. Add an arcade room and I would never leave lol.
Great outdoor space, great beer
If you havent been here yet. You need to come today. Great selection of beer for every taste. Usually has food trucks. I even got engaged here. Love it
Always packed on the weekends. Good selection of beers. Indoor facilities need upgrading. Cant wait til the new location opens.
