Delicious sausage burrito, amazing service, great coffee - not so great cup. 25 min drive to work and the cup took a beating!Would recommend but bring a reusable cup ;).
This place makes great strong coffee. I usually order the cubano and its perfect every time! I love to get their breakfast sausage sandwich. They also offer a variety of pasties which are fresh and delicious.
The people are not polite at all. The barista ask me to abandoned the place after my order was ready. I have my mask on and I was just sending an email from my iPhone there were no more customers inside the store so the 6 feet distance was not an issue. I was not even using their wifi connection. I explain her I was about to leave but just finishing an email and she told me again that I was not supposed to stay in the place. Of course I let her know I will leave ASAP I finished my email and also I remember her that I was not even eating at the location and that I had my mask on. The team make you feel like a homeless more than a customer. So nop! No more money for Catahoula! They need to elevate their customer service to match their product quality.
Stopped by for a latte. Tasty coffee, well roasted. They dont have much food.
A gem of a coffee shop. They roast their own beans. Delightful and simple beverage options. Great breakfast treats for the belly. Very positive atmosphere and staff. Dog friendly too.
Cortado and 24 k carrot muffin! Friendly staff. Nice, clean environment. Thanks!
Nice simple menu with Fantastic coffee! Cubano Latte is my go to.
Dont miss this coffee shop treasure - you know the place only the lucky locals know about. Charming outdoor grounds - the best coffee in the Bay area.
Good coffee, good lattes, good mocha espresso ground coffee bags. Price is moderate to low-ish, but quality is top notch. So all-in-all, good drinks/food, good price, good options, good staff. Which is why I would recommend Catahoula.
Good coffee one of Richmonds little know gems
Been going to Catahoula for years, I always recommend their coffee to friends too. Highly recommend Lola or Butkus blends!
I’m so glad I took a chance on this local coffee shop!!!!!!! The Cubano was amazing!!!! I bought a burrito (also delicious) and I can’t wait to try the Rwanda blend. Definitely coming back!!!!
Love this place. Really good coffee.
Great Coffee but most of all great people!
Great coffee, love an iced Mexi-Mocha w/ oatmilk! 😛
Love love love Catahoula coffee! The mocha is fantastic, but be sure to take home some beans...
Good Coffee, nice Baristas, rude and snobby cashier
I dont normally drink coffee, but their cold brew is some of the best Ive had. Very strong in caffeine!
Coffee was okay. Breakfast burrito was meh
We had a great time here. It was cool and nice ambiance. Great place, great espresso drinks. Not cheap and excellent customer service that is worth to visit again.
Great coffee company.
Very impressive coffee shop! We drove from SF back home and stopped by to get coffee. Coffee was superb! Loved the fact that it was no flavor coffee shop, so unique ☕❤️best of luck in the future!
Just stopped for a quick coffee and bite on my way home. I like Starbucks and Petes, but I really like supporting local businesses like this sweet little coffee house. Coffee was lovely, the hand pie delicious, the bathroom clean, the decor fun, locals leisurely. Pro parking tip: when arriving from the highway, drive past the exit driveway immediately beyond the coffee shop and enter in the next driveway after the merry maids. Or maybe the coffee house could do better with signage. 😁
Great place to have good coffee while chatting with friends.
Tasty hot chocolate and mocha to go! Employees helpful, courteous, and mask-wearing, with speedy service
Such great place and coffee, everything roasted lighter than youd expect, but to great results. I give this coffee as Christmas presents or for a special treat. Id drink it every day if I wasnt on a budget.
Great place, great espresso drinks. Not cheap, but that first sip (and every gulp after that) is worth it. I am greeted with smiles at 7 a.m. on Sundays. I consider myself lucky to live nearby. We no longer patronize Peets and have long abandoned Starbucks.
I stopped in on 8/9/19 to buy a pound of coffee. The aroma was delightful! I was already looking forward to my Saturday morning coffee. There were plenty of bags of coffee available but no description of type of roast. I drink my coffee black and strong and no sugar so I didnt want a light roast. There was also no one behind the counter to help me. I admit, I only waited 5 minutes before walking out empty handed. I see no need to give them another try.
I started coming in here last year on a whim. I’ve been drinking coffee for over 50 years. I was a die-hard Peets fan for years. Note that I said “was”. From my first cup, I found like I had rediscovered coffee. This is by far the best coffee in the SF Bay Area. Their daily coffee is rich, earthy, woody, and nutty. Complex. Doesn’t taste like burnt dirt like Starbucks does. It is now the only coffee I buy to keep at home. I am particular fond of their Lola blend, ground for pour-over cone drip. The staff is so polite, always with a smile. Their location is not in the best place in the world, but their coffee is so good that it is changing the face of the community. I’ve gone in there and seen retired people, hipsters, families with kids, police officers (THEY DON’T DISCRIMINATE AGAINST THE BLUE UNIFORM! THANK YOU), gangsters, blue collar, white collar all putting their differences aside to share in the treat that is Catahoula.
Delicious coffee, reasonable prices, but the line was a little long. However, the coffee was very much worth the wait. The goth barista was very sweet and she helped me find the perfect coffee beans. Great experience, will be visiting other locations soon.
Its just great coffee ☕
Such great coffee, everything roasted lighter than youd expect, but to great results. I give this coffee as Christmas presents or for a special treat. Id drink it every day if I wasnt on a budget.
Best coffee roasters in the East Bay.
When coffee is good - it is rare. When you find good coffee - you tell everyone - because everyone deserves a good cup of coffee. This, my friends, is not good coffee. It is Awesome Coffee! It is so good, I would still go there to order one if the line was a out the door and down San Pablo (that has never happened, but to make a point) I would wait. Also, the Cold Brew is great - and I am fussy. As a former Barista, constant coffee fanatic, if I could give more stars - I would! If you have not gone here... GO!
I had to come back and edit this review – I already put in a 5 star rating, but today one of the baristas walked around and asked people individually if they wanted more coffee. Ive never had that experience in any other casual coffee place! They also have great taste in music. Love this place.
Nice casual vibe for a Sat hangout. They roast their own coffee plus have a handful of good things to eat like croissants, cookies, quiche and vegan muffins. The place also hosts great community events. Recently they held a customer appreciation day where there were crafts, an animal petting zoo for kids, live music, wood fired pizza and microbrewed beer.
Not impressed. They were out of anything worth eating and a plain unsweetened ice tea was $4.00. The place is small and cramped. Highly overrated, but its probably the best Richmond has to offer.
Catahoula is my go-to coffee house and roaster. Yes - roaster! They used to roast right in the shop, but the demand from local restaurants and better food stores caused them to expand their roasting - and their storefront just didnt have room. The staff is knows their coffee. They also serve pastries baked by local small businesses. Its always been busy when I went, but not loud. When Ive gone to sit and sip, Ive always managed to strike up nice conversations with people I dont know.
Fast service, tasty food, reasonably priced, ALWAYS GREETED WITH A SMILE, kid-friendly and they have a small variety of books to read there or take home (just bring one back).Best of all, Catahoula has a variety of Great Tasting Coffees, whether you drink it for a boost in the morning or to just sip on a cup after a meal, I recommend Catahoula Coffees, ALL THE TIME!!!! ☕💖
The coffee was good and reasonably priced, but the coffee shop was really loud. Most of the people were either talking loudly on their phones (for at least 30 minute calls) or having loud work meetings (other people commented and went outside because it was so loud). It’s too small of a venue to allow people to work on their phones.
Its a well oiled working machine in there. We were in and out!
Excellent coffee and tea. A great neighborhood hang out!! Sit and read/work, meet up with friends, see your neighbors, meet new friends. Great food from Angels too
So far, it is a fantastic place with a great service. Their coffee is amazing and I appreciate that it is possible to purchase half a pound of each of them so I can try them all (slowly:-). Their coffee is expensive, although really good...okay, perhaps the best I have ever had (Brazilan, Peru and 3 Amigos...are so far my favorite). Some cost $18 and others $23 per pound. This is a lot. And for this, I take one star away. Sorry.
I absolutely love Catahoula coffee. Regardless if I get it there or brew it at home, it’s some of my favorite coffee. The Ethiopian roast is my favorite. The people working there are amazing as well.
I love the different coffee drinks they offer. The service is really friendly
Lola! Lola! Lola! She’s SO sweet:) Catahoula’s coffees may be the best kept secret in the Bay Area
I grew up near this place and used to come here with my mom a lot when I was little and I loved it. I went back the other day and it was totally different, it was all bourgeois and annoying and the coffee is way overpriced. $5 for an iced latte? I was disappointed and sad that the place I used to know is gone now. It used to be a good part of my neighborhood but now it seems like part of gentrification in Richmond.
Coffee was awesome and I liked the food too. The woman was super nice who helped us. And I really liked the atmosphere.
Grumpy staff, long lines, coffee is nothing special and just a teabag plus hit water cost four dollars. The coffee is nothing special. No stevia sweetener (duh! even Starbucks has stevia)...just a few cramped places to hang out.“Serving breakfast” as one review said is a stretch. They will sell you a pastry.Have not been to the new one in Point Richmond. Maybe that is better. But I just don’t get why everybody is so thrilled about this company. I think people are just being gracious because it’s local. Gracious or hoodwinked and hypnotized.
Their only coffee available at the store is the medium roast which is kind of tasteless. Limited selection of pastries. Nice ambiance, however.
Love this place! Been going here since Timber worked the cash register. Keep it up!
Needed a quick place to have a cup of Jo and hop on the internet during my power outage refugee moment. Excellent dry cap with the foam just right traffic now and friendly welcoming service.
Always great coffee! Favorite pastries! And... And now great local craft beer? (Tearful smile emoji)
I do not rave about much but this coffee shop is a diamond in the rough! The energy is remarkable, the service is prompt and genuine and the coffee...its the absolute best Ive ever had! Not to mention the feel good designs they topped my mocha off with:) You will love this coffee shop. But be warned you may not be able to drink Starbucks sour burnt coffee ever again...Im just saying;)
I missed this place for over a year.
Love this place, family owned and very cozy. Miss Brush was the best. Thank you
I stumbled upon Catahoula Coffee while on a work trip to Richmond, CA. I ordered an Americano, it was excellent. The roast was not bitter at all but rather rich, and very smooth. The staff was very friendly and the patrons were very pleasant. There was no where to sit, so I took my drink with me.I wish I had a coffee shop like this near where I live.Keep up the good work.
Great coffee!!
Forget Starbucks or Peets, heres a local small business you will love to support any day. Love this unique joint and their coffee that brings all different kinds of people in the bay area together in one coffee shop.
The best coffee shop in West Contra Costa County. Consider it a premium coffee spot that would be a favorite in any neighborhood. A gem in the jungle for all of you coffee adventurers!
Wonderful atmosphere and staff! Coffee is great and flavorful, love to bring home their beans/grounds to make at home.
Excellent coffee drinks and nice vibe in this local gem. Enjoyed the music and the staff. And the Semifreddis snacks. Best of all, remarkable value at low cost. Better cup of joe than you get for twice the price in the City.
Love this place. The coffee, the food, the service is all excellent. Highly recommend.
Great community vibe here. Loving the rainbow foam art this month!
I love this place. Its my go to on my weekends for a nice bagel and yummy coffee. And the people are chill.
Excellent coffee, warm & welcoming atmosphere, but could somebody please pay a little more attention to the plants? Its very distressing.
Enjoy the Mexi Mocha. ...
This is a great place to stop when you need to burn time. There is plenty of outside seating with heat lamps. The service is fast and staff are pleasant.
Line out the door but worth the wait! Love my catahoula! They never forget the spoon!
Awesome coffee. Locally roasted. Friendly service. And the Mexican Mocha is one of a kind!
Cool little place. Music volume is a bit loud if you plan to do some work there but if you have head phones you should be fine.
Its an adorable coffee shop its quiet, they have nice pastries and the chai latte was tasty.
Best darn coffee in the east bay.Death before decaf ! Actually, the decaf is excellent too.
Consistently the worst customer service Ive seen at a coffee shop. Very slow because of too few staff members and dont answer their phones
Cozy and low-key. The coffee was good.
Good coffee. The brownie was to die for
Small local chain that roasts their own coffee. Tables are a rare commodity during morning hours, but service is quick. Coffee is excellent and the pastries are great.
Friendly staff, great coffee and a relaxing environment. Has become my favorite coffee to go spot! Walking distance from my place.
Local, pricey and tight space. Have been coming here for years because it is local and not the Starbucks genre. I try to go there when its not so crowded. Coffee is good just pricy.
Good coffee and excellent service. The ladies are the best there.
Best coffee place I’ve ever been just what Richmond needed.
