They make great Italian style pastries.They are a bit pricy but each pastries are huge. It was good overall. My fav is the chocolate twist. The custard inside croissants was a bit too eggy for me. And the apple strudel was a bit bland. But I will definitely come over again to try the other stuff, especially their cakes and savory breads.

Its my first time at this cute little coffee shop. Workers were super efficient with the work flow. I ordered a 12 oz cafe latte with soy milk & this apple w/ raisin pastry. Super delicious and filling for a breakfast! Looking forward to coming back again sometime.

I’d come back to this location just to get a sfogliatella. I very rarely find a pastry that good. Crispy crackly flakey on the outside with tender and delightfully flavored (sort of an orange essence) dough on the inside. The olive bread stick is also a must-try. Great bread and great olives, you almost don’t need it to be more than the sum of it’s parts, though it is.We also got a custard croissant. The puff pastry was not great enough for me to buy again but the custard was great and they had a lot of other custard pastries that the friendly lady at the counter was more enthusiastic about herself, so i’d go for one of those next time.The espresso was solid and well balanced; the sour notes didn’t overwhelm the rest of the flavors as is epidemic. The drip coffee was mild, but nice; not an off note to be had.To summarize, the sfogliatella earned the 5th star and the espresso was good enough not to drop back down to four.

Its kind of amazing how this place can be such a good bakery and still no lines most of the time I show up! The little pastries that look like tiny triangle croissants with powdered sugar on them have some subtle orange flavor to them and they are absolutely divine!!!! Definitely a must try for anyone. They have a lot of sit down food menu items too for those who have time to enjoy themselves 😉

Hidden gem. Very good food. Focaccia with eggplant and thick tomato sauce and cheeses. Nice salad garnish. Very good cappuccino. Sitting inside albeit a little crowded. Clean toilet with old fashioned air conditioning. Lots of parking in industrial park. Italian spoken here.

Pastry looks great, but, tastes terrible! No flavor in fillings and cannot taste butter in pastry dough. Sooo disappointing; and way overpriced at $6.33 per ! I haven’t been able to find a decent pastry place in this area except for Semifreddie’s, 3 miles from where I stay. I’ll keep trying…

I am not a fan of olives. The olive sticks I was told were the most popular item. OMG! They are delicious! I feel like Ive been back every week for at least 3 sticks at a time.Everything else is also delicious. The staff is amazing and very knowledgeable. They love what they do and are always happy to answer all your questions. This place is amazing.

When I picked up my to go order, the man in the back, who had the appearance of an owner, was whistling while not wearing a mask. Even though they have signs on their door suggesting masks be worn.The person at the front was also not very friendly when I attempted to talk to her.I will never return here.

Amazing delicious eats, the Milan style Hot chocolate is AMAZAZING. I definitely ordered one of everything on the menu. The staff was so polite. My latte was delicious. I love this place

I just received my pizza, i ordered the mushroom and sausage through doordash, however i found no option to add more toppins, so i placed them under special instructions and they added the toppings and i expected an additional charge which they did not❤️j will be ordering from them! they went beyond to satisfy my craving for their pizza! my dessert was amazing too!!!! thank you❤️

Authentic Italian pastries, pizza, salads and panini in an unassuming environment. A few outdoor tables and a few indoor tables are convenient, but do not add to the ambiance. You come here for the food. I had a prosciutto ham and mozzarella panini and a cannoli. I would ask them to fill the cannoli rather than taking one that has been in the case to avoid a soggy shell. The flavor is perfect. Excellent espresso.

Great bakery, a lot of pastries and breads to choose from. Gran Milan also has a breakfast/lunch menu as well, so it caters to a wide variety of folks. On this trip we came specifically for the pastries. I ordered the apple strudel which was delightfully fluffy and with great flavor. I loved that it was not overly sweet. All in all great place, the owner is European and he’s a great guy.

My first time to be here with friends and I am pleased with their pastries. Its fresh and delicious. Absolutely coming back. My friends love the quiche. Apple strudel is good not so sweet yet a little hint of tartiness.

I dine in this place from time to time! This is my favorite spot to have a bite. I visit this place many times. The food is great, the workers are courteous and the cost is affordable. I like meeting in this restaurant to have a nice dinner.

We arrived before 9 on a Saturday, and just managed to beat the rush. What was really fun was the experience of walking in and hearing a lively discussion taking place in Italian. Highly recommended for the breakfast goods--Ill be returning to try lunch next time Im in the area.

A favorite place because of the fresh ingredients and baked goods. It is a hole in the wall. The photos dont really show how small the seating area is, but the flavors are worth any lines. Try the thin crust pizza or focaccia but arrive early - they run out!.The pastries are also worth a mid-afternoon trip. The owners are recent immigrants and clearly love what they are doing.

This is 3.5 stars. The location will be hard to find unless you know where its at. When you walk in, your greeted with a small selection of entrees and baked goods that looks alone are make this little cafe worth the time. I ordered a Turkey panini and it was delicious. Staff was very courteous to my party of 3. Now, the whats holding this place from the .5 star is the seating. It is tightly spaced but not to the point it was confining. I recommend.

This is my favorite cafe in the El Cerrito area, and very worth the little bit of hassle to get here. Its a bit small inside, so not the best for laptop users, but excellent for socializing and enjoying great food.

The people are very nice and there is a very wide variety of pastries to choose from. I didnt care for the pizza, and wasnt crazy about the cannoli (texture was a little off), but the fruit tarts were tasty. Havent tried dine-in, so can only comment on take-away.

I have been stopping in daily to pick up one of their fabulous sandwiches. It seems as though I am unable to leave with just that. The pastry selections are hard to pass up. Several types of pizza are offered. They use quality ingredients and their prices are more than fair.

Worst place to order for a big party, on March 23rd 2018 we had a conference in Berkeley/Albany and ordered from Gran Milan 4 hours before lunch, because of its great reviews, however 30 minutes had passed from lunch time and no food was there, the organizer and the person who placed the order decided to call in and 1) the person on the phone was rude, 2) no order had been made because “it was a big order and they had no bread” 3) they never called to cancel the order, 4) employee hanged up the phone RUDE. we ultimate ordered pizza that got delivered 30 minutes later leaving us with less than 5 minutes to eat.

This is THE hidden gem in this industrial area. Wonderful pastries, coffee, pizza and sandwiches. They bake for a lot of restaurants - and you can often hear opera coming from the kitchen - sung by the bakers!There is a small outdoor dining area along with tables inside. Biggest problem? Parking! Id prefer to bike there, but they keep saying theres going to be bike racks, but they havent appeared.

I love this place the people and food are the best.

I wanted to love this place, but was disappointed. First by a stale tasting beignet followed by a lifeless breakfast sandwich with stringy bacon. The roll however was fresh. The spinach breakfast sandwich was good enough, just underwhelming. Ill upgrade my review for lunch items.

I ordered a turkey panini on ciabatta bread and this tasty pastry that had a entire apple baked into it. Food was perfectly delicious. I took away a star because staff wasnt super friendly.

Read about this in a local magazine and went out to try the pastries. Was NOT disappointed. But first we had the vegetarian quiche, some focaccio with sweet cherry tomatoes, and a sausage and mushroom pizza. All outstanding. Thin crust pizza a delight, as was the foccacio, with its thicker dough. Im not a vegetarian, but the better half enjoyed

I am completely addicted to this place. The variety is tremendous, always new things to try. They put lots of yummy veggies in the panini. (Try the roast beef with carmelized onions, etc. on home made foccacio.) Their cappuccino is head and shoulders above any others locally. And the employees are always so welcoming!

Fabulous!!! I am so happy they exist and so close by.I have tasted their horns. A+++; their onion focaccia is unbelievable. I wanted to find something close to bialy (a slightly different bread with onion) and this focaccia is so flavorful. I was so pleasantly surprised. Not to be outdone by their apple strudel and of course, the BEST ever Napoleon. I tasted a number of them in the US, none come close. But their Napoleon is IT. Absolutely amazing. The right pastry. The right custard...just like I would have it in EU. Thank you guys!!!
