Our regular diner was full with an hour wait time, so we looked elsewhere and found the Galaxy Diner. Service was fast, even during peak lunch time. Our food was out in less than 20 minutes and it is so good! There are also lots of options for both vegetarians and meat eaters alike, so it’s perfect for people that need both for their friend groups. And they do fried pickles!!! I’m somewhat of a fried pickle connoisseur, and they do theirs right! The pickles are spears instead of slices, and they actually taste like pickles. Highly recommend this place!
The Galaxy Diner. Definitely a restaurant that is out of this world. The diner really isnt spacious. Almost looks like a hole in the wall. However, thats what makes it so charming. The atmosphere is extremely relaxed and the service is top notch. Our waitress Rachel was on point!! Fun, informative, playful yet professional, she was an absolute rockstar. The menu offers traditional American cuisine with a twist and some flair. Will definitely go back many times.
Galaxy diner is always a pleasure, theyre efficient on time with orders and have an excellent staff. Everything is always so delicious and filling. Super good food for cheap prices. There is sometimes a wait though as it is pretty popular and conveniently closes later than most places as to accommodate the late night eaters. Love this place!
My usual place to eat in Richmond was closed, so I decided to give the Galaxy Diner a try.To say the least my expectations did not live up to how great this place was. The food, atmosphere, and service were all top notch. I felt like I was living an Americana dream.They have a great selection of tasty food and great service, so be sure to stop when in Richmond.
I’ve been wanting to go to this place for so long and I’m glad I did. Galaxy Diner has such a retro and sociable vibe. The food is amazing, I especially love their fries because it’s the right amount of crispy and you can really taste the potatoes! There are tons of varieties of comfort food. Even though I wished there’d be more varieties of entrees that aren’t sandwiches or hamburgers, my meatloaf meal was spectacular still! Check the place out for an affordable and quality food plus friendly service. I was being a nut brain for a little because I got confused by what the waitress said about the appetizer having a sides to go with it, but she was very patient with me. Definitely check this place out with your friends and family!

I love this diner. There are an untold number of diners across the country - and then there’s Galaxy Diner. Since 2010, I’ve been coming to town to perform with the wonderful Richmond Symphony Orchestra, and Galaxy Diner might be the first place I are at in Richmond. As I travel North America performing with other orchestras, I seek out diners in each town. Diners are one the last remaining honest litmus tests to measure the character of a community. (Along with the local post office and local public library.) Richmond is hip and quirky - and Galaxy Diner is proof. This diner is a breakfast place, a bring-your-kids place, a good-for-after-the-bars place. I look forward to coming back for fun food, fun people, and the quirky menu names and descriptions.
Awesome diner! Menu is huge and so are the portion sizes. Plenty of good options for my vegetarian friend which is a huge plus! Highly recommend
Really nice and fun place. Love the atmosphere. Not suitable for parties over 8 people unless you dont mind being separated. It was FREEZING towards the back. Like unbearably cold, we almost left. However, another table left right before us and we were able to move to a different location. Staff was incredibly friendly.Food was really good and portions were plentiful. Definitely recommend with a jacket.
I absolutely adore this place! You get so much for your money. I got the surf and turf and got a steak, tuna steak, 2 sides, and a biscuit. Definitely recommend it.
Love this space-themed spot. They have diner type food like chili dogs, fried pickles, and burgers. Portions are big and delicious. They have a really fun menu and boozy shakes.

Sadly the business has gone downhill. When asked to prepare an omelette with egg whites they refused. Then the waitress literally dismissed me. I was shocked twice. She needs to get out of the service industry.
Food is priced well and fast but our server literally took our order and never came back until she dropped off our tab, she didnt even bring the food. The food was okay, not great. The place itself was FREEZING cold inside, if we hadnt waited so long already we would have left, my daughter was shivering the whole time.
There are a lot of choices when you go to Carytown and a diner doesnt seem like a logical choice but this place never disappoints. Been here several times over the years and just left loving it once again. Literally everything on the menu is delicious, the service is fast and friendly and the atmosphere is very cool.
The food was great, decently priced for their portions. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Fast good service. I will definitely be heading there again. It gives a classic vintage diner setting. Charley and Carly (our servers) were super nice!
Great Diner Food, fun atmosphere and theme. If me and my friends cant decide on a specific restaurant in Carytown, we always fall back to this place because its just good, reliable and fun to visit.
This was my first time to Galaxy Diner. My wife and I both had omelettes. Both meals were prepared very well and both orders were delivered exactly as requested. Our server was very accommodating and friendly. The diner itself had a very nostalgic look which was appealing and fun. Find me a cane with tater tots. Perhaps the best tater tots Ive ever eaten. The omelettes were large and nicely prepared. We were passing through that area and if we are ever passing through again would definitely consider eating at the Galaxy Diner.
The place may be small but its impression was notable! Friends tried their variety of wacky burger offerings, and had nothing but praise of them. I got a french toast plate. I didnt like the apples, and my french toast tasted just a little oniony (likely from the grill) but thats what I get for ordering breakfast for dinner!The tater tots were easily the best thing. I wished I ordered some of them for myself instead of stealing from friends plates.
Always enjoy eating at Galaxy. Our waitress was great. The foot long is my favorite thing to get here. Love the toasted bun.

I was really exited to eat here but it was just OK. We had the biscuits and gravy which is a family fave but wasnt very good. The turkey sandwich was just OK. The crabby patty sandwich was quite good. The service was OK. The location and atmosphere was very good or I would probably rate it a 2 star.

Galaxy Diner has a special place in my heart forever! I met the love of my life here a little over a year ago and we make it a tradition to stop in regularly. The food is always amazing and the staff is so fun and kind. We just had our anniversary here two weeks ago and it was just a great night! The staff went out of their way to give great service! If you are in the Carry Town area and want a delicious meal with a fun atmosphere, this is the place!

Quick, quirky and tasty. As advertised on the can, B sci-fi aesthetic and classic Americana diner vibes. The meatloaf was delicious and the menu looks to cover all the expected categories with some variety and innovation. Not too adventurous overall but an unusual and well executed take on a downtown diner.

If I could give this place no stars at all, I definitely would. After coming here for years, I feel as though today will be my LAST! Having to watch a family of 3+ be seated before me after waiting about 15 minutes was absolutely disgusting. Anyone who has been here before know they don’t accept reservations, which I’m puzzled as to why this family would go before me after they clearly were on the waiting list AFTER me! Although I’m sure they will continue to receive revenue from others, today is the very last day that they will EVER get another American dollar or coin from me!

Love Galaxy Dinner. It’s my favorite restaurant. I spent many after bar and pre bar nights here before the pandemic. & I’ve been eating here for YEARS. The only qualm I have is whenever I order pick up now, I NEVER have a fried pickle. Which the fried pickles are AMAZING!! Still the food is so great! When you eat in, you get an unbelievable amount for such a reasonable price.
Service was awesome. New to the area, and the waitresses were very knowledgeable about the area. A really great help. The impossible burger wasnt that great but the service was prompt, lively, and welcoming. 10 out of 10 would go again and bring friends. Very considerate about social distancing and sanitation.

Always a great go-to for me and my friends. A hearty amount of food, a fantastic experience dining in. The takeout meals leave a bit to be desired, as they typically arent as good as when we dine in (in my experience)
My wife and I went to go get dinner here, had a blast with our server, got our food quickly and were VERY full after our meals. My wife had the Atomic Dog with fries and I had the Smokehouse burger with fries and mac n cheese. She got a Tequila Sunrise Shooter [essentially a double shot] and I had a Belli Tini (love how heavy handed the bartender is goodness). Our bill was no more than $40 for both of us with tip included.Definitely plan on making it a habit to go there for dinners and will highly recommend this place to others.
I had breakfast here with my cousin and her boyfriend because they live in the area and we enjoyed it.Its neat inside because it does look like an old diner and they have a pretty decent-sized menu with options that could please anyone - there is breakfast, sandwiches, burgers, hotdogs, etc.My boyfriend always gets eggs, bacon, toast everywhere we go so hes easy to please. He chose a BLT while I went with a veggie omelet.It was very empty when we dined early in the AM but Id love to come back for lunch or dinner and try a few of the other menu items I saw that looked good - like a hot sandwich and some fried pickles, YUM.

Portions are pretty big so its very filling. A word of caution, the lot it sits on is very small so the whole place can fell a tad claustrophobic.If you are good with that its a neat place with a casual vibe. As an appetizer we ordered zuchini fries and it came with a side of fries. They were absolutely delicious it could have been a meal on its own.
Wonderful as always. Its unique, funky vibe with good food we did a chicken salad sandwich, and a Blue Moon dog which was very tasty but the onions were not caramelized) Solid service, and an enjoyable time!

Nice classic diner food with a great atmosphere. The food was exactly what youd expect from a diner, often oily but in a soothing way. The cups of water were MASSIVE as well, which I found entertaining. Had a burger, it was decent but nothing special. The vibe that all that chrome and neon light gives off though is incredible, had to take a few pics. Loved walking in and dining here it was a fun experience.

Galaxy Diner is a mandatory stop whenever I visit Richmond. The retro science fiction themed decor speaks to my inner and outer comic writer, while the food calls to my soul. Galaxy Diner certainly doesn’t mess around with their portions either, so you’re getting your money’s worth.Heads up the door is only automatic on the way out and you have to push the button on the right to get in.Google some of the sci-fi movie posters on your way home.

Galaxy Diner is a great old Staple in Carytown. My kids and I were down at One Eyed Jaques doing a little bit of shopping yeah, we all were getting hungry so I thought Id bring them over to Galaxy. Never really had a bad meal there, staff is always polite and attentive. The waitress work with my daughter shes a little picky about a few things and she was able to get most of her eyes and she wanted on the side. One of my favorite things a galaxy is there fried pickles, they are just awesome! We all decided to get hot dogs. My daughter got a footlong with chili and cheese on the side. My son got the space dog with chili and cheese and I got the nuclear dog which consists of chili, cheese, onions, relish, salsa, coleslaw and sauerkraut. Each one of us ordered a different type of fry as a side I got just plain daughter with cheese and my son with chili and cheese. The hot dogs are just ignoring us. Usually when you think of a footlong its this skinny long hot dog but these hot dogs are super fat. I definitely great comfort food, cool vibes and good people. I know well be back again.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in The USA. The food is spectacular. I love their Supernova BLT, the side salads, the steak quesadilla, and the candy they give you after your meal. Oh and the deserts are awesome too. I also like indulging in the chip which and their sundaes. They have cordial, generous, and attentive wait staff, TVs you can watch in the corner for sports or news, and a precisely authentic experience to offer dawn to dusk. It’s phenomenal any time of day.
Love that nothing changes. I worked at Galaxy 20 years ago. Same great menu, and ambiance. The staff never smiled though. Seems we caught them on a bad day, but that happens.

The Galaxy Diner never lets me down. I use to go there when I lived in RVA twenty something years ago and still drop by when my daughter and I are in town! Their menu is the perfect blend of diner food and some with a twist.(love the atomic dog and fried pickles!) And the service is always great. If youre ever down in RVA and looking for some great food and drinks, beam yourself in and enjoy! They also adhere to the Covid social distancing with seating and such so dont forget to bring your mask and a appetite! Live Long and Prosper!

Ive seen quality fluctuate over the years, but i never once felt like i got less than i paid for. i placed an order tonight that included deep fried brownie bites. they are better than they have any right to be. friendly staff as always, and the nuclear waste burger has again sated the hunger in a most delicious fashion
Were actually just leaving the Galaxy right now and I can honestly say I havent had a pizza burger since Im on the way from New York my mother had a chicken quesadilla my nephew he had the SmokeHouse burger and I had the infamous pizza burger now that again everything was to pray we had intergalactic nachos out of this world but yes our server was polite and was a pleasure Shawyn West, thank you. Im definitely going to make this place a regular!!😁😁😁
