Wow!Got the Black Joy and the pumpkin spice flavor, as well as trying other flavors through my party members. I was especially impressed by the Black Joy, the apple pie, and the guava sorbet. The brownie in the Black Joy was so good, I feel like theyd have some success going into baked goods. Theres a lot of vegan and dairy-free options for people with dietary restrictions.Support a black-owned business!
I really wanted to try Ruby Scoops, and dragged my trusty foodie sidekick with me.The place is located in the up and coming area of Brookland Park Blvd. in the north side (The area is not too bad, but just be careful). As soon as we opened the door one of the employees yelled out, Put on a mask! (Were both vaccinated, but I get it). I couldnt find my mask initially, and asked if they had any disposable, they do and charge $1. I have a problem with businesses charging for masks, especially since they are requesting it, IJS. Also, many of these businesses can request masks for free to distribute to their customers.Anywho, was the start to ruining my experience. Customer Service, Customer Service, Customer Service! I dont think anyone there had any stake in the business (I would hope not), or they would have changed their attitude. When we arrived the place was not busy, however the staff couldnt seem to get their bearings. One of them was rude, and dismissive, so much that someone else took my order!I requested a sample of one of the flavors, and was snapped at as though I asked to borrow money, WE DONT DO SAMPLES! (Dont use COVID as an excuse for being cheap, ijs)I asked details about the ice cream flavors and what differentiates them from others and they couldnt even answer that.Maybe they should stick with the food truck. I shouldve listened to my son and just left, but I wanted to really try their signature winning ice cream ( I guess I will have to watch the video, to find out why they won).I finally ordered ( my son waited outside) the snicker doodle ice cream sandwich, with banana ice cream. The banana ice cream had chocolate and some other concoctions mixed in. It was good, but not the best I have had. We also had 2 scoops of the sorbet. I selected 2 flavors, since I love tropical fruit. I selected guava margarita (was the better flavor), and passion fruit, neither tasted that great.I was sooo disappointed! I hate when Im psyched to try a place out and it bombs! You guys enjoy, but this a pass for me!
Finally got a chance to visit Ruby Scoops after watching the show. I tried the Black Joy Sundae, which was very good. I wish I could get those brownies separately because they are delicious! Staff was very friendly. Only complaint is that I wish there were more flavors to choose from. The selection was rather limited: there were 12 flavors total, but half were ice cream and the other half were sorbet. I do appreciate the unique flavors they had and that they were likely handmade.
When in.... Richmond... You stop by and try the delicious ice cream you see her making for @benandjerrys on #clashofthecones on @foodnetworkIt was absolutely amazing! Perfect vanilla ice cream, right amount of sweetness and the right amount of salty. My husband had the whos the boss (tiramisu and marscapone) of course I had to try that too, delicious 😋 everyone so darn nice. Definitely will be back. I mean come on... Chocolate Sprinkles... Yessss!
It was okay for me, they only had one vegan, gluten free options and that was the blackberry sherbet. I didnt care much for it and felt it was expensive for the amount you get. Im rating based of my experience with the ice cream I had the others flavors are probably better. Just wish the had milk based vegan options without gluten.
This shop is such a blessing.. they have just as nice a line up of vegan ice cream as regular dairy and thats hard to come by. Most places have one or two flavors but not Rubys! She had several listed on the wall... thank you Rubys!Im so glad I chose the mango sorbet (vegan) it was SO DARN GOOD I wanted to go back for seconds.I heard theres usually a line to get in, but due to covid they only let a few people in the store at a time. But we managed to choose the right time evidently because we were able to walk right in to order. The owner, Ms Ruby I guess, was behind the counter, and she was so nice and friendly. This is one of those places you love going to. I will be back very soon!Side note: I was told theyre only open in weekends..
Great ice cream and they’ve always had great customer service every time I’ve visited. Love their vegan options and their vegan mango sorbet is so creamy. Very addictive ice cream.
One of the best in the city. Tip them because they work hard.
Havent tried u yet but love u 2 death I literally watching you on TV s ice cream battle hope u win!! Cant wait 2 try it!
Finally found an ice cream shop to relish my cravings! This is the best ice cream shop in Richmond, it is locally owned and is a place Im always excited to show people who visit. There are vegan but creamy options too. The ice cream sandwiches are made with cookies that seem like your grandma made. I love their Thai Basil and Strawberry Red Bean.
His is my new local ice cream place … a 5 minute walk from my house. My neighborhood didn’t get just any ice cream place. Ruby Scopps - the ice cream is excellent and creative. The staff is simply lovely. And the owner is currently part of a Food Network show! Thank you!!!
The ice cream made here is delicious. Flavors are big and out front. Flavors change regularly/seasonally. This is a good thing. Charming little storefront that is well off the beaten path, but not hard to get to. Owner is very charming and friendly. Very aware of covid-19 regulations only letting one customer/family in the store at a time. Go here! Absolutely worth the trip!
You are greeted and ask have you been here before. If not they explain all the flavor and what is offer. Service was aswwome
The ice cream is good, albeit pricey for the size. The service needs work. There were 4 people working and the ice cream was melting fast while we waited to pay.
The flavors are amazing, and if you go get a flight! That way you can taste them all.
Ice cream was good, but milkshake was really lacking and very small for $7. Also, service wasn’t great. Waited in line for a bit and then nobody wanted to help me when I got to the front. The 2 people available were either at the cash register or packing cookies, while the third guy was serving everyone- it was very strange.
Incredibly delicious. Had a sundae the other day and holy wow. The ingredients are so legit. From the ice cream to the sprinkles, 10/10.I forgot to take a picture because I ate it too fast.
Having so many vegan choices was amazing! The flight was an awesome way to try each and share. Kids loved the cookies and cream. Can’t wait to go back!
The mango sorbet is so good! Melts in your mouth like butter 😋 the staff is very friendly and happily answered all my questions. Love love love this place! Will be back for more
Amazing ice cream, sorbet, and overall customer service! Also, it’s so reassuring that the COVID policies are actually followed there!Definitely coming back soon!!
Love, love, love Ruby and her unique flavors. Great prices and excellent service!
Great little ice cream shop! There was a little line and it moved along effectively. Ruby herself scooped the ice cream and it was fantastic. We got a wide variety - from black sesame ice cream to blueberry basil lemonade sorbet. All of the flavors were fantastic!
Sooooo good. The vegan flavors are just as good (if not better) than the dairy flavors.
Great service. Family owned. Support black business.
Watched 1 of the 2 employees put their mask on before we walked in with a group of 4. Got turned away for not having masks. Fully vaccinated group. Hopefully refusing law abiding citizens will lead to the closure of this business.
Wife and I went on Saturday and the ice cream was great. The ice cream wasnt to sweet and had a good balance of flavors. We will definitely be back there soon.
Fantastic ice cream and sorbets! Our group split two flights, so we tried pretty much everything, and you really can’t go wrong. Favorites were probably the dulce de leche and watermelon sorbet (and I’m usually kinda meh on sorbets, but they were all great). Everyone working was friendly and we had very quick service.
We live about a block away and have been going once a week for the last couple of months. Great flavors, they have something for everyone.
After viewing Ben & Jerrys Clash of the Cones, had to try Rabias icecream flavors...not to mention support a local celebrity. This was my first time visiting this icream shop, definitely not my last. I love the Dulce De Leche!!
Great customer service. Busy but not crowded. Great ice cream. A must try!!!
Great little ice cream shop with unique flavors. Just wish they would let you eat inside the place. Not located in the safest neighborhood to walk around and eat ice cream.
Awesome experience. Learned of Ruby Scoops from Clash of the Cones. Searched through Google and saw Rabias shop was just a state away from us. We knew we would go someday. Just so happens we made a trip to Kings Dominion and made plans to leave the park early to visit Ruby Scoops. When we 1st went in the store, there were a couple employees, very nice and welcoming. Did not see Rabia, and have to admit, I was a little bummed she wasnt there. Then as we were looking over the menu, she comes out from the back. We were a little over excited to see her. My fiance and I both greeted her as if we had known her for a long time and I think she looked at us like who are these people? But my fiance told her we had learned of her shop from the show and because we watched her for a few weeks and liked her personality it felt as if we knew who she was. Because I knew this was a once in a while experience, I wanted to try a scoop of a few flavors. My fiance got the butter pecan, our daughter got the mint chocolate chip, I tried the mango, watermelon, and lemon berry sorbets. Our daughter ate all hers before we made it back to the car. Guess it was good. My fiance liked the butter pecan, and we all tried and liked the 3 different sorbets. My favorite was the watermelon, then the mango, and then the lemon berry. Only wish these were all commercially packaged and sold across the nation. At least the east coast. As if the icecream and employees customer service werent enough to give us a great experience, we also learned before we paid that a previous customer paid for 4 of our scoops, a pay it forward kind of thing. So, we paid for our 5th scoop and paid forward a couple more for the next customer. Again, overall awesome experience. Look forward to having an excuse to make the trip again to visit Ruby Scoops, until Rabias product is offered in national grocery store chains. Fingers crossed. 🤞
GREAT ICE CREAM! The vegan flavors are fantastic and the ice cream sandwiches are dream worthy. Since this place has opened only 4 blocks from my house, I am there once weekly at least even when it was COLD 🥶. So pretty much it’s ice cream so good you’ll eat it in the winter!
This place is really cool! They have really unique flavors and good vegan options, the people there are super nice :)
Delicious ice cream! I had lavender and it was amazing.
Y’all. Ruby Scoops is AMAZING! My favorites have been the cookies & cream and the grasshopper, but everything I’ve tried has been delicious. And with rotating flavors, there’s always something new to try!
A new neighborhood ice cream shop offering fun homemade flavors. Friendly owners and staff. Good options for folks with dietary restrictions like vegan and gluten free.
Enjoyed the bacon banana ice cream. Worth standing in line.
Coconut, caramel and chocolate ice cream was very delicious 😋. I will spread the word.
Please, please move at a pace that shows concern for the customers waiting in line for 30 minutes. I know its our choice but, please consider our loyalty. Product= amazing. Wait time= needs work.
The ice cream here is fantastic! We loved both the vegan and non-vegan flavors. The person who served our ice cream was so friendly and the whole place was adorably decorated. Definitely support this small business!
OMG this ice cream shop is absolutely amazing! The consistency of the ice cream, the flavors, the shop, the people. Everything! I’ve followed Ruby Scoops for a while and the ice cream and cookies have always been on point. I’m addicted to this place. Parking was easy and the shop has COVID-safe protocols in place—which I appreciate so much. The cookies and cream and the cookie butter ice cream were SO GOOD. I’ll be dreaming about that ice cream for a long long time.
DELICIOUS vegan and dairy ice creams and sorbet. Probably the best Ive had, to be honest. Cant wait for another visit!
Up and coming business on Brooklyn Park, lets get some more ice cream and cookies and chill for 4th of July
Really great flavors. Tastes fantastic. Great service. Nice diary free choices.
Delicious and fun ice cream! Incredible customer service and welcoming atmosphere. Cant wait to return!
Super cute ice cream parlor with unique and traditional flavored handmade ice cream and vegan options. I highly recommend the mango sorbet, but honestly everything Ive tried has been delicious. Couple great ice cream with personalized, friendly service and its a true winner. You wont regret it!
Definitely worth the wait! The staff is wonderful & friendly, the ice cream is honestly the most delicious I have ever had! Try the Grasshopper & Coffee Date flavors, they’re absolutely amazing :)
I’m not a big ice cream fan but I heard about the flavor variety and yeah. Best decision I’ve made in a while!! The Cookie Butter was amazing. Can’t wait for the cookies to start rolling.
A fantastic addition to northside! As a self-proclaimed ice cream connoisseur, I will tell you that Rabias creations are wonderfully inspired, delicious blends of often unique flavor combinations. My boyfriend got a pineapple rosemary sorbet that was both creamy and dreamy. I enjoyed a scoop of a whiskey infused chocolate flavor along with a scoop of peanut butter ice cream (complete with actual peanuts), and the combination was everything I wanted and more. If you are looking for a delicious cold treat and friendly service, look no further.
Delicious dairy free options that are creative. No run of the mill flavors at Ruby Scoops. Everyone is friendly and the owner, Rubia is delightful. They also make sure that the customers are safe during this time.
So good! I had their cookies n cream and chocolate in a float and it was amazing. Ruby is so nice and I’m so glad I got to talk to her.
Awesome flavor variations, dont be afraid to try them.
Great ice/ great service
What a treat! Excellent and delicious ice cream in a great setting. And they have floats. But they also do Kombucha floats through collaboration with Ninja Kombucha next door. So good with a sorbet.
Ruby Scoops is hands down one of my favorite ice cream makers!! Never had a flavor I didnt like and the customer service is awesome!! Make sure you stop by and check it out!! You will be so happy you did!!
Due to COVID, only one (1) party is allowed in at a time therefore there was a bit of a wait but IT WAS SOOOOO WORTH IT. The coffee and dates ice cream was so amazing. I was hesitant about the combo but it absolutely works. The space is also beautifully designed, theyve been here only 3months but I suspect they have a long life ahead of them. I already cant wait to go back.As a suggestion to the owner, maybe add a digital menu to the window so ppl can decide their orders as they are waiting or limit each partys visit to 5min max if there are customers in line.😀
The tater chips ice cream was really good. The peanut bonanza was ridiculously good. A must try.
THE BEST ICE CREAM 🍦
Wonderful people, awesome and creative ice cream. Dulce de leche is one of my all time favorites of theirs! Richmond is lucky they have arrived. Very cute shop as well.
Love all the vegan options and fun unique flavors. Thank you!!
Awesome local ice cream spot with intriguing standard and vegan ice cream flavors. cant wait til they expand their hours and for warmer weather
Delicious flavors, excellent vegan options! As a pop up I enjoyed the peach basil sorbet -- great balance of peach and basil. Its great as a float in a glass of prosecco :)Since the storefront opened I tried the vegan Cookie Butter and vegan Coquito flavors. Cookie butter had the perfect amount of cookies and Coquito was wonderful with the coconut, spices, and rum. The texture was creamy and rich.My partner had the Altanta Santa and Coffee Date, both were delicious.Scoops were not cheap but the portions were worth the price -- quite large scoops!!Looking forward to getting take home pints in the future and to walk here on warm summer nights in 2021!
Great ice cream. Great service, felt safe.
Best cream in RVA BUT better customer service!!
The best ice cream ever!!!💯💯💯
Great ice cream!!

Great ice cream and great owner
The ice creams are delicious!!!
Very poor customer service
