I can’t say enough good thing about Charm School! They have weathered running a small business (IN A PANDEMIC) wonderfully. The selection always has something great. My favorite is the Thai Ice Tea with the Madagascar Vanilla when they are both on the menu.Customer service is great, the space is cute, and the product is excellent! ☺️
Im not a local to Richmond so I cant come here as often as Id like.So I visited and loved the mural on the side where there are a few parking spaces otherwise its going to be parallel street or local parking garages.Flavors rotate and they have some very interesting ones - I chose lavender and mint and of course topped it with the marshmallow.YUM. Generous portion and delicious ice cream.
I visited Charm School it was a very inviting and wonderful visit definitely different from the last time I had visited before covid but I will say wonderful sweet people freshly that sweet lady with the pretty little heart glasses she was dressed so vintage and so adorable I love her beautiful personality she helped me to the door so I could get out safely very courteous and they still had someone to take care of the other people I truly appreciate their service over & beyond They are very charming Thank you all again blessings🙏🏼💝🙋🏾♀️
Nice looking place downtown with its own parking lot. Good selection. Nice people. Really good ice cream
Charm School is the best ice cream I’ve ever had. The constant rotation of flavors, vegan options and their just delightfully fresh taste build my case. Their shop on Broad Street is open, bright and airy. Tons of seating and a delightfully “Richmond” experience (canned Liquid Death mountain water, music playing was ABBA once then metal another time). The French schoolhouse artwork in the space is just too cute. Also- cup and cone are the same price?! Yes please. Don’t wait- go to Charm School now.
This place was amazing. Loved that they were COVID safe and organized. They had a great mix of traditional and unique flavors and the one I chose (vegan birthday cake) was excellent.
Charm School is #Yum#Yum. The flavors are amazing. They have a nice big clean seating area. Dairy free, gluten free and regular recipes. The staff are friendly and you can sample as much as you want. The Cinnadoodle is by far my favorite! The fancy sprinkles and the toasted marshmallow fluff is so delicious. You can get a cup or freshly made waffle cone they make them in front of you. Anytime Im in Richmond i have to stop in.
Visited the Charm School on Forest Hill Avenue today and tried their vegan chocolate ice cream; I was super disappointed to say the least. The ice cream had a weird taste and the texture was off. I dont know if its this particular location because Ive been to Charm School downtown and loved it, or maybe they changed the recipe, but it sucked and I wasted almost 5 bucks. Bleh!
Absolutely amazing! Best vegan ice cream!! So smooth and creamy! I got the chocolate and strawberry!! Highly recommend for all my non-dairy/vegan people!
The Charm School is a charming little ice cream shop with lots of fun character. The sweet aroma of freshly made waffle cones is irresistibly inviting from the street. The service was fast and they kept the crowd moving. They offered a good variety of ice cream flavors including Vegan options. The ice cream itself was yummy and their homemade waffle cones were good too. The price was a great value compared to other ice cream shops. Definitely worth checking out.
OMG!! The vegan ice cream was out of this world!! Pumpkin topped with vegan whip cream is a must & the paved road was so delicious!!
Every ice cream they have is delightful, also were kind enough to not kick us out even though we came a few minutes before closing.
Insanely basic ice cream…I’m surprised at all of the outstanding reviews. It was like the epitome of overhyped. Also the service was kind of weird. I kept asking the woman if she could put my waffle cone pieces at the bottom of the bowl and she kept responding by saying “I can but we don’t usually do that…and “I can but we usually put them on top”…so over and over—I’m saying okayyy…but can you do it…? and she finally says yes and just does it. Lol. Just really weird and annoying. I wouldn’t go back at all. I’ve heard that scoops ice cream is the place to try.
Inventive and delicious ice cream shop. Hard to go wrong here.
This place is amazing! They have lots of unique flavors I have never seen before and they give lots of free samples! (Earl grey, honey rose, Golden milk and more) If you are up for an adventure to try new flavors you will love this place! BUT they do not have all your typical chain store flavors. They had the basic chocolate, strawberry, coffee, vanilla. For me I was excited to try so many new thing so I give a 5! I ordered the earl grey after sampling with torched fluff on top!
JUNE, 2020 - Charm School! You let me down! You had been my favorite, highly recommended guilty pleasure for a couple of years.I recommended that my family go downtown specifically to support a small, local business. Each of the 5 of us purchased ice cream at $8/pint ($40).None of our ice cream flavors had any flavor: Thai Tea, Cinnamon Toast Crunch or Orange Cardamom. They were barely sweet. It was like eating frozen milk, not premium, small batch ice cream.I hope that you will contact me and make this right.ITS 3 MONTHS LATER NOW, FOLKS (SEPTEMBER 26, 2020)... - No, Charm School never contacted me to make anything right. More than disappointed. Do better!
CHARM SCHOOL FOREVER. Might as well get a whole pint anyhow. Vegan chocolate and the peanut butter swirl are my favoriiiiite. Plus, the owners are the best.
Love the customer service and flavor variety!
Charm School!!!! Ive never been more blessed than to have this place walking distance from my house. Got broken up with? Vegan ice cream. Lost ur job? Vegan ice cream with toasted marshmallow fluff. Cute interior. Cute employees. Cute themed events. Free enamel pins!!!! Best establishment/10 thank u charm school
Theyre named charm school, but there was no charm when we entered the store. As we took our first steps into the store, the staff seemed annoyed they had customers. They seemed impatient and barely gave us time to look at the menu (it wasnt even close to closing time!). We didnt realize some flavors were offered only on certain days and they brashly told us the flavor we wanted wasnt available.Customer service was obviously not the best, but we were expecting at least the ice cream to be. We got chocolate, a pretty basic flavor for an ice cream store to get right. Unfortunately, worse than their customer service is their ability to make good ice cream. It tasted like it was made with nesquik chocolate powder because there were only faint hints of chocolate, and mostly just the strong taste of frozen milk. To make matters worse, the ice cream was so powdery, it felt like I was exfoliating my tongue. Honestly the worst 8 dollars I have ever spent, spend your money elsewhere.
Delicious ice cream and charming atmosphere! I love the vegan options, especially the soft serve.
Charm School is a spacious ice cream parlor on E. Broad Street. They have about a dozen or more flavors of ice cream at any given time with options for vegetarians and vegans.I can honestly say this is one of the best ice cream cones Ive ever had and Ive had a lot of ice cream. After sampling several options, I ordered one scoop of the tea time ice cream in a waffle cone with toasted marshmallow fluff on top. This combo was perfect. The ice cream itself tastes like milk tea with cake bits mixed in. With the toasted marshmallow on top, wow. So good!Theres plenty of seating and the space is pretty clean.
Is this place ever opening again? It says spring and its spring! Please reopen soon! We miss you!
Cute and fun themed ice cream shop. I enjoyed the milk chocolate and honey cake flavors, but was dissappointed with the toasted fluff. It didnt have the toasted marshmallow effect I was hoping for. Tasted more like burnt fluff instead of carmelized fluff. The sprinkles and cone are free. Bummer that vegan ice cream was $1 more for the two scoops. The vegan flavors are yummy and mirror the non-vegan flavors, though the texture was too icy and felt more like sorbet. Would come back if we are in the area again!
Delicious! Lots of vegan options including a vegan sundae which was to die for! Our kids also loved it. If you love ice cream, vegan or not, you have to try this place out. Easy access, friendly staff and delicious options...what more do you need?! Definitely plan to go back soon.
Such a fun spot to get some great ice cream! Definitely top your scoop with the marshmallow fluff! Its like eating an ice cream smore, but better. Four of us got ice cream, and spent $25 so its a little pricey, but worth it for a special treat! Will visit again Im sure next time we pass through.
Amazing. The decor is chic and light. The school manners poster were cute. The ice cream was wonderful. Tried a flavor Ive never had Earl Grey. My daughter tried the lavender ice cream. The homemade cones were crisp and fresh.
Ahhhhhh! The smell of fresh made ice cream cones! Friendly service and some of the best tasting, unique flavors Ive ever had. The decor and atmosphere is so cool. My son and I love this place. Its a go-to for good, good ice cream!
Very cute place inside. They have some fun different kinds of flavors. I had lavender ice cream, and it was quite delicious! The lavender flavor was not overwhelming, and not too subtle. It was complimentary to the vanilla in the ice cream. I definitely recommend them.
Amazing ice cream, toppings and atmosphere
So we arrive at the shop and its an assuming curb appeal BUT, as soon as you open the door you are bombarded with the scent of something heavenly sweet!!! The scent alone should be bottled!! Yes, sugary sweet delight is the scent...we go further in.We look around and theres a come and meet your friends at the local ice cream shop old school yet modern feel to the place. The artwork all throughout the space is delightful and has a slight vintage feel to it
I liked how simple the inside of the building looked had nice decorative walls and a nice atmosphere. Its similar to cold stone but have vegan flavors which is awesome. The only wish I have is that I wish you had more flavors of ice cream.
Went here yesterday to try the vegan vanilla soft serve dipped in chocolate. Staff wasn’t kind, ice cream was overpriced, wouldn’t allow chocolate dipped in a cup so was forced into a cone. The ice cream had an after taste, and the cone was gross. I went to gelati Celesti right after. Skip this place.
There are always interesting flavors at charm school! Some are more successful than others but that’s the price of a risk! I really like the golden milk flavor. You can never go wrong with the toasted fluff! It may be the very best part.
AWESOME ice-cream. The black tea flavor? I was floored. This place is very cute with some unique touches and honestly great ice cream.
The ice cream is so good that youll even want to go out and eat it on a cold winters day. They change the flavors up fairly regularly although I wish theyd keep the dark chocolate sorbet on the menu full time. It is such a rich sorbet. Also - magic shell! I havent found a flavor of ice cream it doesnt taste good with.
The chai tea ice cream is on point! Go get a cone and cram it in your mouth. Solid place, enjoy yourself!
We dont go here enough. Have only been twice, but loved the offerings each time. Last time, I got a waffle cone, with a scoop of raspberry cheesecake and another of toast & jam, topped with toasted Fluff. Fantastic. The decor is excellent as well, and will be back next Sunday for the special Descendents event! Love when my interests intersect with a business 😂
A gem to find! I loved the vegan birthday cake and my son liked the golden milk. Would definitely come back. This is a must stop.
My sundae was so good I came back the next day for another one. Flavors were more limited on my second trip but still delicious! The toasted fluff makes the sundae, extra fluff please!!! And the later weekend hours are an added bonus.
Delicious ice cream with unique flavors. The cereal milk ice cream is bomb... with the cookies and cream up there as well. Definitely go for the sundae... its worth it for the fluff and hot fudge. The vegan flavors are delicious too, peanut butter fudge, chocolate, and some other rotating. You can also get vegan toppings (marshmallow fluff, hot fudge) which is super uncommon. They have vegan chocolate cookies as well that are super chewy/soft.
Ice cream was pretty good but they were playing hard core heavy metal when we went. Not family friendly at all and we all left tense and on edge. Not the way we wanted to end our night. Ambiance and experience matter.
Delicious ice creams, very creamy, with amazing flavours. Rose-honey was delicious! The fresh cones were a great addition. The place itself is nicely decorate. One of my favorite ice cream places in Richmond.
So. Freakin. Good. The soft serve vegan Thai iced tea ice cream is aaaamazing.
Its one of my favorites when in town. I wish it was a little less expensive. The Thai tea ice cream is my favorite. Ive never seen it in other locations. Id go more frequently if it was a bit less expensive. Ive taken multiple groups of people there.
Very trendy spot for ice cream. The cones are great but the cream itself is just average. They are one of those places that are proud of the attitude they give the customers, which didnt bug me, but be aware. Also a lot of vegan ice cream options, but no vegan cones (didnt try but my friend seemed to like it).EDIT: Apparently the cones are vegan and I got bad info from my friend.
Delicious ice cream and I love the flavor options. I hate that it cost about $5 for one scoop of ice cream but it is good... I also love that you have the Magic Shell topping!
Amazing selection of vegan and gluten free rotating flavors as well as the best regular milk based ice creams ever. Eclectic flavors like golden milk with turmeric or Thai iced tea are right next to chocolate peanut butter or cookies and cream. Something amazing for everyone. Dont miss out on their fresh made waffle cones. They are too delicious for words.
Definitely best ice cream in town and waffle cones. We got fresh ones. Vegan and regular. Odd and traditional flavors. Something for everyone.
Charm School is a very singular and unique experience that has to be seen to be appreciated in full- definitely dont miss it! (And, oh yeah... the ice cream is delicious, too.)
Love this place! The decor and ambiance is so aesthetically pleasing and smells like waffle cones and ice cream. The marshmallow fluff and waffle cones are vegan as well! The hazelnut vegan ice cream was very tasty as well but the texture isn’t the best I’ve ever had. Still an amazing place highly recommend to everyone!
I enjoyed this place way more than I thought I would. Im lactose intolerant, so I got the vegan chocolate cookie, which was amazing. This place smells amazing when you walk in due to the waffle cones they make in house which were so good. I didnt know that an ice cream cone could actually be as good as it was here. There was some seating inside, so my girlfriend and I sat inside, and the environment was pretty cute. Price was about 4$ a cone for a scoop, but the scoop was a lot bigger than most places, and I would actually say it was worth it. This place is killing it.
Really lovely atmosphere and great ice cream! Got tea time with the famous fluff. The only thing is its kinda pricey but definitely worth it.
Let me just say.. WOW. From the homemade ice cream to the cones to the Eco friendly vibe I was thoroughly impressed from start to finish. The ice cream was perfect, creamy and flavorful; the cone was sweet and crisp a delightful pairing with the ice cream. The decor was charming (pun intended). I also liked they had vegan options and minimal waste (metal sample spoons instead of plastic). If I was a local Id come here again in a heartbeat.
There was a recent art show that happened, so there was great art to check out as I ate my ice cream. The interior is filled nostalgic moments, has a nice charm to it. Best part best part best part. Toasted marshmallow fluff topping. do it.
Straight out of Portland, it seems. This is an incredible ice cream shop with its (fun) quirks and an edge to it.Both traditional and vegan flavors.
Stopped in today looking for soft serve. Which will be available soon. The scent of the fresh waffle cones filled the air, it was DELIGHTFUL. We ended up getting the thai iced tea ice cream and the honey rose. They were both fantastic. They were even better mixed together. It will be difficult not to make a stop here daily now that Ive discovered this gem.
Their ice cream is so good!! Right now, you can only get take-out pints but the ice cream is still amazing quality! Their hours get updated on their insta :)
