Literally the best place to get cupcakes in the Richmond Area! I loved them so much, I had them at my wedding which was 2 years ago and guests are still raving about the cake and cupcakes!! This location is 30 minutes from me, but so worth the drive!! Every bite is moist and flavorful! Give them a try, I promise youll be hooked!!

These people are great. The cupcakes are always fresh and this time they did a fantastic job on some custom animal cupcakes for our sons birthday.

My husband and I tasted tested several bakeries for our wedding and hands down LOVED Smallcakes. Their cupcakes are freaking delicious! The staff were wonderful to work with throughout the entire process and were extremely flexible especially during the pandemic as we had to reschedule our wedding twice. We ordered a two-tiered cake in the Wedding Cake flavor, and 3 dozen of the Decadent Chocolate, Red Velvet and Lemon Berry cupcakes and literally everything was pretty much gone by the end of the night! Even two days later as we were finishing the leftovers, the cake and cupcakes were still moist and delicious. Highly recommend Smallcakes Richmond!

Best customer service! I called to place a order for a small order of cupcakes. The lady I spoke to on the phone was patient, knowledgeable and helpful. I happened to be o running errands prior to my pick up time and I called to see if they could have my order done a little earlier. It was already ready so I was able to pick it up and not make an extra trip. The cupcakes are delicious!!!

I’ll say the stars are because the cupcakes and smash cakes are good but they are ALWAYS sold out of their specials by mid afternoon which is good for their business but poor for customer service. Why don’t you have enough to at least make it until 5pm? I just went and it’s 3:30 and they had barely anything left of any flavors. They close at 6. Pretty sad

This is an adorable cupcakery. We purchased these for my sons birthday and it was nice because everyone was able to choose their flavor. They use alot of icing which is great they also pipe a bit in their cupcakes.. if you are not a fan of icing you probably will not love this place because while the cake is good the icing is what makes their cupcakes amazing, in my opinion.

This is my favorite cupcake shop and I’ve been to a lot of cake shops. I have a thing for cake. I come here way too much. The selection is awesome and the cupcakes are a good size and so moist. I spend so much money here but it’s cupcakes and we’re in a pandemic and I homeschool 5 kids. We should all be eating cupcakes.

This fantastic store came through for me when my original baker backed out of a commitment to make cupcakes for her 40th birthday party a week out. Smallcakes created 30 gorgeous, gluten-free cupcakes and gave my wife pure joy. Not only were they wonderfully decorated, they taste great and all of our guests enjoyed them!

Everything weve had from here is amazing. The deserts are creative and super yummy and everyone in the business is incredibly nice.

We have tried cupcake shops all over the country. This place is one of our all-time FAVORITES. They are outstanding. It seems like most places, they are either nice to look at or delicious. Smallcakes cupcakes are delicious art!We drive almost an hour, and it is worth it. If you are passing through Richmond, I would recommend stopping.I am usually a hard-core chocolate person. Those are wonderful, but I ended up liking the other non-chocolate flavors even more. Boston Cream Pie, Lemon Drop and Pink Vanilla are my favorite. The white or yellow cake, all by itself is perfect.And, I just ate a Bavarian Cream cupcake that was days old. Even now, it is the best cupcake I have ever eaten. The chocolate ganache is amazing and the real whipped cream is heavenly.I would give this place 100 stars if I could! keep up the good work. ;)

This place is a hidden gym! Cupcakes made fresh everyday and homemade ice cream made fresh everyday. I like how its not on a main road so it feels kind secluded but still accessible. The chocolate and wedding cupcakes are two of my favorite. They take cash and credit and are veery friendly. Also if you want a flavor not made that day just ask they will whip it up for you! Great customer service and good times.

This is my first experience with Small Cakes. We had ordered a large, specialty cake for my bridal shower and the entire process was seamless. My sister, who planned the event, told me that every interaction with the staff here was fantastic! We ordered the white cake with strawberry and lemon fillings and it was delicious - everyone was asking where we got the cake and there was only one piece leftover! Between the cupcakes and the pup-cakes in their store, Small cakes now has a customer for life. Thank you so much for making my shower sweet!

I went today and got a beautiful Sweet watermelon cupcake . The guy who assist me told me that they use Watermelon flavoring . When I tried the cute cupcake was a normal Vanilla cupcake with green food coloring nothing close to the taste of watermelon . I cant lie its was a beautiful cupcake but no flavor at all . And is cost almost $5.00. Defintely im not going back again .

This place is probably good for honeymooners or those who are in puppy Love. Those who care only about presentation. I bought half a dozen in different flavors and it was far far from good. My sons comment was waist of money to spend for a cupcake with no taste. I will not go back to this place again.

Charming shop and friendly services. Today I chose a Lemon drop cupcake; it was so moist and delicious. I am a big fan of anything lemon and this did not disappoint. The frosting was not overly sweet and no bad after taste you get when other business use lots of artificial ingredient. Also, I loved the packaging. Silly thing but it goes into to the overall experience. Well done! I really enjoyed every bite and cant wait to go back to try the Boston Cream!

GLUTEN FREE! They have the best gluten free cupcakes (Fri & Sat only)! Consistently moist and delicious the 3-4 times Ive gone. Not the dry bricks Im used to. You cant tell its a gluten free cupcake. Seriously. I dont know how they do it. Ive been back a few times and the quality doesnt change. There is a wide variety of flavors and they will make any of their cupcakes GF for you if they have them available in the back. Staff is always nice and pleasant and keep the line moving quickly.

These cupcakes are to die for! 😁I recently discovered Smallcakes and now I am completely addicted. Sometimes I make the trip down to Midlothian just for a cupcake fix 😉Every one I have tried has been delicious, but if I HAD to choose the Boston Cream is probably my favorite. They have fun special flavors that change daily too like Strawberry Nutella or Grass Hopper. The cake is so moist and flavorful and the frosting is light, creamy and delicious! If your sweet tooth has been needing some soothing I would definitely recommend popping in and giving this place a try!

With several birthdays in October, Ive been to this bakery frequently. Ive got Celiac disease and they always have a nice selection of gluten free options for me, as well as some wonderful (so Im told) regular cupcakes. Currently they only allow 2 customers in the store at a time for precautionary purposes. The employee Ive seen is always very nice.

Started going here a few months ago and never disappointed. My husband hates usually cupcakes but loves the ones from here. My family now love the cupcakes here too. I told my sister how good they were especially the almond which is our favorite. After finally trying them she texted me a few days later because she wanted more. We’ve had cupcakes from all over West Henrico and downtown Richmond and these are the best in our opinion.

I take my dogs here after they come from the groomer. They have a small outside eating area and they make small dog friendly cupcakes for your pups!! As far as the human cakes stay away!!!! Theyre so yummy and addictive youll find yourself wanting one every few weeks. Best cupcakes I had in this city.

I love this place, but their Covid response is to not allow people without masks in their business. I was waited on at the door and received my order, but not without feeling extremely uncomfortable for being singled out for not being able to wear a mask because of a disability. I thought this kind of treatment was not acceptable under ADA guidelines? I get it y’all, but singling our others with disabilities this way is wrong.

Normally I love this place but there was a huge mixup with an order I placed in August. No refund or credit for cupcakes that were never picked up. Claimed they called but I never received a message. Cupcakes are delicious though.

I waiting today for a short bit not long due to only being able to allow 2 in at a time which I understand just to get turned down for wanting to use a coupon you all sent me that expired yesterday. You lost a customer over a coupon that was a day expired.

I tried three flavors of their cupcakes which had nice and light batters that were exceptional. It is wonderful to bite into a moist cupcake with a delicious icing. I also signed up for their rewards program. You will not be disappointed. I will try their ice cream assortment on the next visit. The service provided was great during my initial visit.

We tried out cupcakes from a few places around RVA and theirs are AMAZING! By far the best! Moist cake, not overly sweet, and incredible flavor! I ordered assorted mini cupcakes for my daughters birthday and they were a huge hit all around. The store itself is adorable and charming and the service is fantastic, friendly, and professional. I will definitely be going back for all my cupcake needs and cant wait to try the homemade ice cream!

I was a little upset. While my cake was pretty it was nothing what I asked for. Considering I paid $87 for a cake to feed 12 people. I could have got this cake from Publix for around $30. My cake looked like a baby shower cake. I was willing to spend how much ever needed to make a fun cake this definitely fell short. If anything they have good cupcakes.

This place is what the Richmond area was missing as far as cupcakes are concerned. Almost every place Ive tried had dry, hard cupcakes with icing thats just too sweet. This place has gigantic cupcakes that are made daily, & they taste amazing! There is also homemade ice cream which is delicious. They have at least 16 different flavors and also have specials daily. They even have a rewards program and awesome customer service. The only thing that is preventing a 5 star review is that Ive been there twice on random weekdays (later in the evenings) and they had no cupcakes left. Get there early, you wont be disappointed!
