They have everything I need & their prices are competitive. It would be quite beneficial if their front counter staff were a lot more in tune to assisting Customers consistently rather than keeping us waiting. Ive been there several times have noticed staff behind the counter not directly at the counter window area seemingly engaged in casual conversation with other colleagues. After a few minutes they would end the conversation & ask a Customer if they needed assistance. In the meantime, the Customers just have to wait until they decide to end their conversation before they take the time to assist someone. Aside from this, which I think is important to know, they do have great materials & usually have what Im looking for.Which is why I tend go there.

The only thing good I can say about this place is the staff is very nice. But then that brings me to the soil. Ive been gardening for a very long time and Ive never purchased vegetable garden soil this poor at a premium price. I purchased 12 yards of land fill. I have never had so many problems with bottom rot, fungus, and plain old lack of growth. BUYER BEWARE.

I ordered a yard of soil for delivery. I was told explicitly over the phone that the soil would be delivered at 4pm and that it could be placed in the backyard. I got a call at 10am the day of from the driver saying that he needed to complete the delivery in the next hour, and that if my gate was less than 10 feet wide, he would need to deliver it to the curb! None of this had been communicated to me prior. When I called the store back to explain the circumstances, they told me to send an email to the general manager and did nothing to mitigate the issue. Horrible service. Seems very disorganized, should not do business.

My new favorite place. If you need something small or large or in-between you probably will find it there. I just wanted something small for a rock garden in my yard. These guys are very helpful and I will be going back.

Worst customer service. No help, then hounded my husband and I like we were going to steal something after we asked about an expensive stone but chose a less expensive one. Really offensive.

Great selection of soils, had four yards delivered. Guy shows up in this giant truck driving it like had driving it since dropping out of his moms womb.Left that pile on target, still warm and streaming from their yards.Good service, good soil. Stone looks very nice as well, but I didnt get any of it.There are also soil samples that you may fondle of you like. And there was a gentleman there to answer your questions regarding soil. He must be the Gandalf of soil or something like that.

We needed to replenish our vegetable planting bed and had great service today at American Soil in Richmond. I called in our order and picked it up the same day in the parking lot. It was super easy and economical.

Im a contractor who stopped by to pickup samples for a project. The guy at the information tent was of no help at all, even when he stopped looking at his phone to point to a sample bin. After a couple minutes i left to search for somewhere worth my business. Acapulco Rock & Soil is where contractors go to get what they need. AS&S is not for larger public work projects...I guess.

Found amazing stone benches like blocks of Tourquoise and other fascinating stones. Awesome water displays and the components to make or design your own, as well as some contractors featured dis[plays to inform you who to contact to get one of your own if you are not handy. Very cool installations and helpful staff!

I have been a long time customer here. Mostly have bought bags of rock and soil and brought them home in the car. I think American Soil sells very good products.I had a bigger project this time, so ordered 30 bags of rock for delivery. According to the invoice, they were supposed to call before they delivered the material to notify me they were coming. American Soil did not even bother to knock on the door and ask where I wanted the pallet. They just left it on the street. I tried running after the truck to ask them to put the pallet in a different spot, but couldnt get the truckers attention. Not good service for the delivery charge!!

I have been a long time customer at American Soils and really really appreciate the professionalism and love of stone from everyone there. The management has introduced a cumbersome show-your-receipt system that makes me think they dont quite appreciate the talent they have in the yard. Today I bought sod from their competitor down the road, Acapulco Rock. I had such a lousy experience there, that I will continue to refer friends and clients to this excellent establishment instead.

One of the best places in the Bay Area to buy stone and soil products. Ive purchased decomposed granite, mulch, boulders and various stones -- all have been excellent, and reasonably priced. Delivery is fast and reasonable.

Extremely poor experience at American Soil and Stone.I purchased a large order of stone tiles and when they were delivered, a large majority of the items came broken. Despite showing picture evidence of the broken tiles in the box they were delivered in, the manager refused to make an exchange, and was extremely rude in the process.I would strongly encourage anyone considering a purchase from this merchant to visit a competitor instead.

Called and asked for cinder blocks. Lady that answered the phone said they have it. We rent a truck and get there and they dont sell cinder blocks.

Ive only bought materials from them once, but it was an easy process, they were much cheaper than the soil products dealer closer to my home and delivered with no problems. The materials delivered were as described and expected.

For the gardening and landscapers of the area, I have never seen a place so well-spaced and maintained. Theyve got everything a designer (by trade or by heart) wilk need to set up the perfect scene! They also have free soil on Tuesdays ( correct me if Im wrong).

I bought 1/2 cubic yard of 3/4 drainage gravel and there is so much sand in the pile, that it now needs to be sifted since it should be washed and cleaned. Dont make a bunch more work for yourself, stay away from this place! When I called them, they hung up on me..
