Excellent service and excellent work quality. Ive taken car engines there twice, once for machine work and another for exhaust manifold welding. They did a great job each time. These guys are honest, straight forward, and they get the job done eight.

The worst experience I ever had to deal with, I took a motor the was completely apart asked if they can clean everything and check the bearings they cleaned the block, rods and crank then told me I need new bearing rod and crank so I decided to go pick it up they charged me $445 just to clean the parts and install the wrong part the BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY DONT GET ROBBED BY THESE PEOPLE!!!

Gave the owner many opportunities to call me back about an improper install of valve guides. Warranty was supposed to be 90 days when they provided parts... but they did not acknowledge it at all.

Took over 12 weeks to make a cutter for my router I had to take the cutter back three times and every single time it was dull burning the wood the last time I took the cutter back was on a Monday which I took my router table and tools for them to make sure it was sharp returned Thursday with her call and still nothing had been done this was the 12th week have called repeatedly to try to speak to mr. Ballou one week and a half later and will not receive his call back the reason I went to this machine shop is because they made the Cutters for Siewers. Who made the Dental blocks for the trim and in the soffit. Believing this company could do the best job because they made the original Cutters to match the lumber produced

This place is awesome. I sheared a bolt on my motorcycle oil filter cover and couldnt get it out myself. Dropped the bike off on a Saturday, and they were closed, but Stewart was kind enough to tuck the bike into their garage for safekeeping. They got to it on Monday morning and by 11am, it was finished and ready for pickup. And a very reasonable price for the work too.

I’ve been doing business with Ballos Precision Machine for a few years now and I am 100% satisfied. As I am a business owner, it’s important to have a good machine shop I can trust. Ballos is that shop for me. I personally deal with Stewart who I highly recommend. He has always done honest work for me and made things right even when I wasn’t satisfied.My cousin recommend them to me a couple years ago because I needed an honest machine shop with good prices. I have taken work to Ballos that I wouldn’t trust taking anywhere else. If they do make a mistake, just call them and they will make it right! I can speak from experience. Love these guys. Ive been racing most of my life and these are the only people allowed to do machine work other than myself. They have never let me down and we have won a lot of races with their help.

I had a small job that I really needed done quickly and done well. When I contacted Tom he was totally ready to help me out. I needed a bunch of cutting, drilling, milling in aluminum and in stainless steel. I sent him my drawings, took him my materials reviewed what the job was for. Within two days it was done and done right. His charges were perfectly fair and the work was excellent. On top of all that, I found Tom Ballos, himself, to be a fine Virginia gentleman, a real pleasure to have met and to have worked with. I will certainly go back when I have a job that needs his workmanship. And BTW, they are located near a great Virginia BBQ sandwich place.

These guys at Ballos are top notch! I had them bore out my block 1.5mm and prep/clean the whole block, plus polishing the crank and balancing the rotating assembly. I was very impressed by their professionalism and the care they took with everything including how they treated me even though Im not a regular there, not to mention how quickly my stuff was ready. I dropped it off Monday afternoon and got a call mid day Wednesday saying everything was ready for pick up. For comparison, API in Charlottesville said it would be at least 3 weeks before they even looked at the block and they dont do the balancing at all and their price on the bore/prep was comparable. All of my parts were returned to me wrapped heavily in plastic wrap which was great because I had to transport it all back to Charlottesville. I highly recommend them to anyone needing machine work done in the area. I cant wait until I get everything back together and running. Thanks Ballos, you guys rock!

Search YouTube for a channel named Jafromobile and youll find some excellent videos from a guy who fixes and tunes old engines for use in things like drag racing. In a recent (April 2014) video he spent 30 hours meticulously polishing and porting a 4G63 cylinder head. After all that time & effort, he then took the cylinder head to this shop for work that he couldnt do himself. In other words, this is a shop that perfectionist engine experts are willing to trust. If its good enough for guys like Jafro, its definitely good enough for me.Oh, and a word of perhaps weird-sounding advice: Jafro said that he always brings them a big box of Krispy Kreme donuts along with the engine to be fixed. Maybe he was just joking (personally, Id get sick of donuts if customers did that every day). Still, if youre bringing over a big job to them, maybe its worth a few bucks to give them that kind of tip in advance. Ive never done that myself, but its something that Jafro does, so Ill pass on the information.

Dropped motor off over 2 weeks ago and they still wont return my call. Was told they would pull it apart and call me 7 days ago and I have given up.... Ill just buy a new one... waste of time and effort
