Yesterday, I had such a great experience purchasing my viola. I was able to hold and play it before the final sale. There were a few people that I interacted with from the moment that I walked into the store to the moment that I walk out. Everyone was so nice. I was helped finding every single accessory that I needed. Im very happy with my purchase.

Sam Ash was absolutely amazing. I had a fantastic experience with my sales representative, a manager, and other associates, who worked with me to find a great deal on a used guitar. The used gear is like new and worth taking a look. I bought some great books and related items, too, and got a tremendous deal during Labor Day. You should stop in!

Ive been a returning customer for about a year, and Ive made several significant purchases. The staff has been knowledgeable and helpful.Most recently, I took a cheap es-335 clone to the Richmond location for some setup help and advice. (Ive been playing for only 4 months, I needed it) Chris took the time to go over the guitar, and made a few small adjustments, and tightened the truss rod a tad. He shared a lot of information and tips, and I left confident that my semi-hollow was actually of decent quality, and completely suited for a beginner on a budget. I was given attentive customer service when I was looking through the amp section for a specific amp. The associate was able to locate the amp and then set it up for use. The amp I came in for was a Fender Champion 20. The test run for the amp was a good experience. I was then able to receive recommendations for an inexpensive headphone set that would work with the amp. Overall, my experience was quick and pleasant.

All the employees at this location were excellent! We worked with James in the guitar section, and he was great! We live pretty far from Richmond and were mostly checking things out, and he was very helpful and not pushy at all. Nice to have that experience with a larger retailer.

My experience today at Sam ash was less than horrid. There is absolutely no variety in prices nor guitar as everything is expensive quad digit garbage. The back rooms containing the drums was a complete mess, drum sticks thrown all over the floor and none of the electric drum sets had the main power cable. Why would you have an amp and drumset at the ready...but no cable to even turn it on. Someone took the mesh cymbals off an electric kit and put acoustic crash cymbals on it instead, leaving the mesh heads dangeling and mixed up with the other cables. Half the drum kits in there are LITERALLY falling apart. It looks like someone kicked the sets over and then proceeded to bend all the hardware and make everything as destroyed and unplayable as can be. The entire store is a dump. Cardboard boxes are everywhere filled with trash and random items. I saw multiple customers come in, pick up guitar, play it, then put it back on the normal rack I stead of the cleaning rack, so they can be sanitized for the next user. The acoustic drum set has been dismantled and now just sits in the back missing all hardware. The employees working were sitting at the desk or walking aimlessly around paying no attention to how horrible the store looked nor making effort to assist customers with any possible questions or needs. To think that I was ever going to apply here is astonishing. All my friends who worked there have quit due to the poor quality of employee dedication and motivation to do the simplest part of theyre job. I do NOT EVER reccomend going here for any possible music equipment you might need.

I am working on a project to take praise music into the streets. I needed another acoustic guitar, this time an electric acoustic that I can take in the cold or hot weather and hook up to my battery-powered Cube Street amplifier.Austin helped me and he was awesome! I quickly found exactly the guitar I needed, at a low price, and a strap to match. He even suggested a string winder which I needed, but I had forgotten that I needed it.I look forward to many more trips to support Sam Ash stores. This in-person shopping experience is so valuable, but impossible online.

I purchased an Epiphone EL00 PRO VS about 3 years ago. The salesman at the time (dont remember his name) gave me a good deal with the help of his manager. As good as the price was I couldnt afford a case, so I bought a gig bag to protect it until I got it home. We were coming to Virginia to see our children at Christmas, so I stopped in Sam Ash Richmond to see if by any chance they had a case, but they didnt. The salesman found that they did have a case in a New York Sam Ash store and assured me that they could ship the case to me in about 5 days I placed the order and I had my case in 3 days. I called the Sam Ash store in Richmond to thank them. Sam Ash is by far the best experience I had all year. We had a positive experience at Sam Ash on Broad St in Richmond, Va. We came in looking at pianos for a Christmas gift. There was an associate up front greeting people and offering assistance. We declined the initial help as we wanted to look around first.One of the store reps, Steven, checked on us after a few minutes. We asked for suggestions for a beginner piano and he was informative and polite. We didnt feel pressured, there were no sales gimmicks, and he provided exactly the information we needed. We made a purchase and he helped us load into our car. Everyone in the store was friendly and we would be happy to recommend shopping at this location to anyone.

Every time I’ve shopped there it’s been an amazing experience. Yesterday, I bought a used Jackson that was missing a string. I grabbed a pack of strings from the shelf and head to the register. Not only did they offer to replace the string that was broken, but I received the pack of strings I grabbed for free. Excellent customer service!!!

My son used to go to School of Rock which is overpriced for what is promised. So my son was not enthusiastic about going to Sam Ash to start lessons as a result of how let down he was in the previous situation. After only one lesson with Adam he has played a total of 6 hours in the past 24 hours. And has a big smile on his face now! Thanks to Adam he is very enthusiastic and again has joy playing guitar. I am not electronically inclined at all. But I was trying to get a microphone and foot pedal for a friend to take to him out of the country. Steven was so patient as I messaged my friend and waited for a answer to make sure I purchased the correct items. Very friendly and helpful by explaining how each item worked, etc. Even though the exact item I wanted was on national backorder, Steven helped me find an alternative and my musician friend was very happy with it!

Ok, I took my guitar to Sam Ash to have my strings replaced with new ones. So I pick it up and bring it home and my second string is making a buzz noise. I call them to let them know but the technician wont be in for another 10 days and I have lessons every week.

A huge thank you to the manager Sarah at the Sam Ash in Richmond Virginia. I accidentally threw out a $100.00 gift card I purchased for my son. When I bought it I tied it to his account. I called to see if there was anything I could do to. She was like of course she contacted corporate HQ had the old card voided and a new card issued. I picked it up from her that afternoon. What fabulous customer service. I am extremely thankful because I thought I was going to just have to replace it and I would have if I was dealing with any other company. You have won a customer for life. I cant thank you enough for what you did. Moral to the story if buying a gift card always tie it to an account. Did I forget the say how wonderful Sarah was and is? Even during the Christmas rush she was compassionate understanding and just a joy to deal with.

My local Sam Ash in Richmond VA is the the best music store Ive had the pleasure of calling My music store in my 41 years of playing guitar. The staff have gotten to know my tastes, and often point me towards items that they feel are things Id be very interested in. For a big box stores, I still feel the friendliness of the old Mom and Pop shops I used to use. The inventory is great, and I always get a great price. The sales representative ( ? the manager ) was very friendly and the prices I received were very reasonable. Started at a familiar music store in the same shopping center because I had never been to a Sam Ash store. I am glad I made sure to check out Sam Ash in Richmond. As soon as i walked in the vibe was clearly different. I have never had a store make sure I played everything that I wanted to try. The questions I had were quickly and expertly answered. (Thanks to James Tunnel.) Not only was he extremely friendly he also did not hover and gave myself and my brother plenty of space to put instruments through the ropes.8 hours and a lunch break later I finally found a guitar that I wanted to take home. James surprised that we were still playing came through and made a great deal on the guitar I purchased. My brother was just as enthused as I was and ended up making a guitar purchase with James as well. I mention James because I worked with him the most but all of the staff were extremely friendly and willing to help. Look forward to my next visit!

It was absolutely horrible. I’m sorry but we brought in our guitars to get re-stringed the week before we had to close down the schools. They told us that the guitars would be finished within 2-3 days. When they didn’t call back within a week we called back and they didn’t answer. They continued to not answer for like 3 weeks so we messaged them on Facebook and they said that they would try to contact the store. Apparently the store CLOSED DOWN with our guitars inside and didn’t even tell us. So guess who got their guitar 3-4 months late. Not only did I get it late, I had to miss all of the guitar lessons that I had ALREADY signed up for. So thank you Sam Ashe for screwing up with our guitars and our bank account.

Went to guitar center and Sam Ash on the same day to find a decent inexpensive acoustic guitar. Both had a good selection but Sam Ash had a few pre owned guitars that were priced so low I couldnt pass up. Narrowed it down to 2 and the sales person gave me his take on the two and I went with his recommendation. I dont remember his name but he was clearly very knowledgeable. After having it for a few days I am super happy with his recommendation and help, and the guitar I selected.

My band had a last minute emergency wherein our sound guy didnt show up at a venue half an hour south of this location.. The staff at Sam Ash put together a full rental PA immediately and had it waiting on a cart for us when we arrived, and was extremely courteous throughout. (I believe the gentleman in question was named Stephen, in Sound.) The show went on and we made more money doing this than by paying our sound guy. Overall, a wonderful experience and I could not have thanked them enough.

Called before I went to the store and asked if they had an Aguliar Tone Hammer 700 bass amp in stock, they told me that they did I was told that they did so I drove from the other side of town to buy one. I was highly disappointed when I got to the store, they only had a display model and said it had only been on demo for around two weeks. I was given a discount (small) and knocked off 3/4 of the two year warranty. I wanted the original box in which the amplifier came but they didnt have one and they didnt have the operator or instruction manual that was supposed to come with the unit.The salesman did find a box to put my new amp in and taped it up. He did help me take all of my purchases to my vehicle and put them in for me. I feel misled to a certain degree because I actually was expected to be buying a brand new in the box amp not a floor model. I have been a customer of Sam Ash for many years. I dont know if the salesperson was new or unfamiliar with the stores inventory but I was a little disappointed with my last purchase.

Savannah, Chloe, Buddy, and Nate, are exceptional sales professionals and instructional experts. I am also very impressed with the quality of their inventory as well. Bought a Rickenbacker 4003 bass with their protection plan. When purchased I was told the protection plan would cover any issues with the bass that the manufacturer warranty didn’t. The bass had to have the truss rod adjusted numerous times in the first month. They did it once for free and then informed me that the protection plan only covered manufacturing defects and nothing else. I know these instrumentS need adjustments periodically but they should not need them that frequently and they tell you those protection plans cover everything until you try to use them. Will stick to Guitar Center from now on.

I wanted to test my several xlr mics for my zoom sessions, and needed a small interface for the computer. Wayne listened to what I was looking for, helped me pick the right one. Bettrr service than this cannot be found elsewhere.

Employee(Wilson) was very friendly and greated me as soon as I walked in. I am a drummer so I was interested in seeing what kind of equipment they carried. They have a great selection of cymbals, Sticks, and drum sets of all kinds both new and used. I had a great experience here. I needed a saddle piece for my guitar, and couldnt find one anywhere. I looked in this store as well, but couldnt find one.
