I go here for my guitar lessons with Grant. He does a great job in showing proper technique and answering any questions I have. He can also do virtual lessons if needed. Highly recommend working with Grant!

When I went in too buy a mandolin, for my dad, I was greeted in the friendliest manner! theyre absolutely awesome at this store. He helped me pick out the perfect instrument and made sure I was happy before I blindly bought. Fav place for guitars, ukes, and mandolins for sure. Picks, a guitar stand, a guitar strap, and cable that I needed.The only shop within 30 minutes from where I live that were able to restring the guitar the same day as I needed it, other stores didnt have anyone there to do it, surprising since those stores are much larger. Bought a ukulele here and the staff person was so helpful. He taught me 3 chords right in the spot so I could play a few of the ukuleles before choosing which one to purchase. He explained the differences in the sound and talked to me about cases and tuners. I love that they also have flyers for ukulele meet ups and events happening in the area. So glad I came here to purchase my first ukulele.

John and Jeannie are the real deal and will make you feel at home the moment you step in the shop. John does excellent repair work, and builds guitars too, so you’re in good hands going here.

Great owners. Very relaxed. You can get hands on with a lot of ukes. Though its not very well described on the website, the shop can also do aftermarket pickup installation for you. By the end of this day, I will have purchased 2 ukes from Fan Guitar and Ukulele: a Soprano Firefly Banjo Uke and a Romero Tiny Tenor. Feels great to support a small local shop which specializes in my instrument of choice.

Customer service has been stellar on every visit to Uke Fan. Ive bought several concert models, including a very nice solid monkeypod Uke that I play daily.My most recent visit was to pick up a broken Ukulele that John had set aside for me. I intend to turn it into a cigar box Ukulele. The only thing wrong with it is that the neck is separating from the body, so its perfect for my purposes!John even gave me a pass to park in the rear parking lot so we could go grab a hotdog at a nearby sports bar.This is my number one location for Ukuleles. I only wish I lived closer. As it is, I often drive from Newport News to Richmond (an hour long drive) whenever I need something for my Uke. Ill continue making that trip for future needs.Im looking at maybe getting a tenor Uke or a banjolele in a few months to a year. If I do, this will be where I buy it.
