Al took advantage of my willingness to trust him. I am 60 years old and he came off as a very trustworthy knowledgeable person. I gave him full payment upfront to restore my Z. What I got in return was a very poor job. Im lost on what to do. He isnt licensed, no one can do anything about this. I hope this review can help others avoid what has happened to me.

Horrible, Horrible service. Lies and more lies. Found out after the fact that this guy is operating from his house. Wont answer phone calls. Threatens us. Car doesnt even run, towed it back saying it was good and took off. Im so disappointed I didnt research this business more. I wish I could post a video of how bad this car runs. Hope this can save someone the hassle. Furthermore, sold us an engine that leaked oil badly, and has an incorrectly machined crankshaft that will not allow proper clutch operation. Had a REAL expert evaluate this vehicle. Also, after receiving it from Al, leaked fuel bad onto the distributor and almost caught on fire. If this review is fake like Al states, dont believe me. Believe the 400+ members on Facebook page California Datsun inc sucks. Look at how many people he has riped off and continues to rip off. Than changes his business name when the fire is lit under him!!

I recently had California Datsun complete restoration on my 1972 240Z. Due to a job relocation, I could not complete the build myself. Al took the time to meet with me to go over the process. We worked together to establish a budget, expectations and settle on a shared vision on what the final product would look like. He then took charge and completed the restoration. Throughout the process I was kept updated with progress reports, photos and expenditures contained in detailed invoices. His many years of restoration experience and connections with part suppliers resulted in a car that exceeded my expectations.

Great communication with two phone calls from Al to update order. I ordered a close ratio 5 speed transmission and got lucky that one was available and I received it 3000 miles away in less than 8 business days. I Highly recommend them to get all of your Datsun goodies. Really impressed !!

Al from California Datsun is my “GO TO” guy when it comes Datsun Z’s. I was fortunate to pick up a 280z and 260z, I contacted Al and worked out a plan and a budget for a new engine. Al got to work and when he was finished doing his magic, it was a work of art and I couldn’t be happier. The one thing that I really appreciated was that being a 44 year old car there were things that needed to be replaced. Al would always let me know my options and in some cases replaced or upgraded at no cost. I couldn’t be happier with the look and performance. I can’t wait to get the 260z over to him.

My 75 280z outside mirror was totally destroyed in car wash. Only 2 oem mirrors found on the internet. One was $400.00 and the one at California Datsun was $100.00. The picture they sent me revealed what I thought was a faded casing with chips but to my surprise when I received it promptly in a few days, the mirror was almost like new, in better condition than the one I had. Would definitely recommend California Datsun for z parts and plan on using them in the future for any other parts I might need. Their price was very fair, they were courteous, and their service was prompt.George K.

I have to say a big thank you to Al Allan at California Datsun. He really stepped up when I needed his service.I had an L28 that I needed a rebuild on. Called around and priced everyone out. Not only was he fair on his price, he was the quickest to respond. When rebuilding the block, I made a very last minute change to paint the block red. Most of the time people would go crazy and try to charge more, not only did he take the last minute request, but also upgraded me to flat top pistons at no extra charge. My mechanic looked over the work thoroughly and said there was not a single flaw with the work. We threw it in and the car started and ran without hesitation. Big thumbs up to Al and California Datsun!
