Visited here for the first time. Its set up like an old fashioned mercantile store. They have a small but excellent selection of clothes. Plenty of souvenir type items and a lot of candy, toys, books, candles, shoes, outdoor equipment and jewelry. I found plenty of things that I loved! Theres really something here for everyone! Im so glad we decided to stop in and take a look. Dont miss it.

A very fun place to visit with a mix of products. Not quite eclectic, but certainly not run of the mill. The prices are fair to high. The candy section is great. Shoes, clothes, outdoors, knives and knick knacks are all here. Its a fun place to browse and youll probably find something you like.

Great place to shop. And that candy aisle. Goodness gracious. I like the store in Greenville SC better but this is a great one too just harder to get to being downtown Roanoke and their awful parking situation in that city

This is a fun store. We just popped in white walking down town and I had a blast! Nice clothes, cool knick knacks and great mango salsa! Stop in and explore!

Interesting store carrying performance brands for outdoor activities. Huge section of candy from your youth. Clearance racks have some good deals if you have time to dig through them

This store was really cool visually. The employees were very nice and helpful. We bought candy by the pound and a candle called Shark Bite (Sea Salt and Orchid) which is made by a member of management. I have the candle burning today in my living room but unfortunately after burning for 2 hours you cant smell it, unless you are right beside it. I have low ceilings and the room is only 13x15, not open concept.Also the candy and popcorn was very stale. The only candy not stale was the York Peppermint Patties, the Pixie Sticks and Smarties. Its nice for the experience and good customer service, but probably wont return.

Very nice place with a helpful sales staff. It is a little pricey but they do have quality merchandise. Be sure to check out the candy section, there is a lot to choose from.

Not a review of the store itself, which I did really like. We were moving a friend from the apartments in the Mast building. A U-Haul truck was parked in the back by the old loading dock. A woman walks up and asks how long we will be. Said we shouldnt be parking there it was for management only and gave us a prewritten note telling us not to park here and a number. She said call then we were done. She had parked behind us, blocking us in, even though there were other spots available.When we called she wouldnt answer. Called 6-7 for a half hour with no response. Some other tenants came by and told us she was the General Manager of the Mast Store and shes done this before and even had her car towed. Finally had to go into the store and find her. She sent someone else out to move the car. Now this wasnt Masts loading dock, it is actually sealed off and is non functional,(we werent impeding there business) but the elevator exits to the stairs next to it. This was just someone being an entitled #$@&!! I know of at least 8 people who will never set foot in a Mast store again.

I had visited the Mast General Store in Boone, NC before. However this was my first visit to tbe Roanoke location and I was not disappointed.Upon entering the facility I was greeted by a friendly staff. The appearance of this store was well kept and clean. Mast offers a variety of outdoor gear and clothing . Saying that, I had a very pleasant shopping experience. The atmosphere in store is uplifting and bright. I would highly recommend Mast General Store to anyone who needs high quality outdoor gear and clothing at a reasonable price. Oh yeah, I cant forget to mention the gift and candy shop. Ill just say its a lot of fun to shop that area as well.

Always helpful and friendly staff...Beautiful clothes...All kinds of pretties if youre shopping for yourself or for a gift...At the back of The Mast, there are barrels and barrels of wrapped candies...jams, pickles, honey, etc. ...Upstairs, there is a variety of tennis shoes, hiking shoes, sandals...backpacks...hiking apparel.... YOU WILL LOVE THE MAST💖

Went in at the recommendation of a friend, and absolutely loved it! So many things to look at, neat clothing, fun toys, awesome kitchen gadgets. I could go on and on, but you have to see it for yourself! Staff were all super friendly without being overbearing.

Love this place! You can find bird seed, jelly, honey, marinades, candy, dapper clothing, outdoor gear, cooking utensils, linens...etc. cant go wrong and the sales staff are incredibly friendly!

Great store, atmosphere, and friendly employees. A welcome addition to downtown Roanoke. I really dont understand the reviews critiquing the prices on the products. Go to any store, in-person or online, and youll find that Patagonia, Arcteryx, North Face, etc., are not cheap products and are pretty much the same price everywhere. You either buy them or you dont. Aside from that, there is a ton of other stuff to look at and buy, from housewares to gifts. Its a great place!

I LOVE this store! They have it all, shoes, outdoor gear, kitchen equipment, clothes, and books! It really feels like an old-fashioned general store, and its so clean. One of the best parts is Masts attention to the local scene; Ive been to Mast stores in two different states and they really pay attention to the area theyre in by offering products that best describe it. Im from Boone, NC and just moved to the Roanoke area. I had no idea there was a Mast here and of course, had to go in. Its a huge store! I adore Mast and always have to pick up a new t-shirt when I go in. So glad I have a little piece of home here with me!

Fantastic store! Great quality clothes! Huge selection of new and old kinds of candy. Very neat selections of old type toys, vintage signs, and so much more. I spent an hour there just looking. The associates working there are extremely nice, friendly and helpful! Highly recommend going there!

Visited store twice - in two days. On the second visit (masked) a staff member recognized and warmly greeted me. It is an unusually friendly store with well-trained sales staff offering distinct shopping pleasure.

Amazing atmosphere, staff and goods! I have not been to the mall since long before covid, but this place has everything you need in an amazing atmosphere, with good spacing and masked customers! No need for the mall! Gifts galore here! And obviously branding and quality are very important, so the store is priced accordingly! Thank you for an amazing reason to visit downtown Roanoke! My husband and I are hikers, and the unique and useful product line is amazing, well concentrated and doesnt make you search for what you need!

Nice looking place, lots of antiques (not for sale), barrels of bulk candy. Bring your credit card everything is way expensive. Plain Duck Head shirt $90, barrel candy sold by the pound and can run into money if not careful. Lots of VT stuff.

A great new addition to DTR. A great variety of different types of things from clothing to candy! I got some cute reading glasses! Easy to browse and they had a good selection of Womens and Mens sizes. Im a local so I will always return! ❤

Masts service is top-notch. Good place for quality hiking/outdoors gear, shoes, and a handful of candy for good measure.

My wife and I are from the Virginia Beach and came up to visit. This store is wonderful! It has just the perfect amount of everything. While it does carry a vast majority of higher end gear, the prices are reasonable for the brands they carry. I highly recommend a visit to Mast General store if you’re in the area. You could honestly spend hours looking through all the great things they have.

Great store, glad they decided to open here in Roanoke. It is really hard not to buy something every time I stop in there, even if its just candy from the Candy Barrel section. Top-notch selection of clothes (casual and sporting), fun novelties (the retro toys are fun!), surprising food options. This is definitely what a modern-day general store should be.

High end outdoorsy stuff and limited selection of canned things, some local favorites missing and only a small selection of pottery, the candy selection is top notch though, and the kids stuff.

I love the barrels of candy and unusual cooking gadgets.

Wish I could come to this place all the time! They had so many cute clothes and great brands and quality. And I LOVED that I could bring my dog in there and they have treats at every register. All pet friendly places are 5stars in my book.

Wonderful multi faceted store! High end clothing with all popular brands...down to age old candy favorites, apple butter, jams, jellys, maple syrup... on to cornbread mix & iron skillets. Gotta love it!

Too expensive & parking lot wanted $10 just to visit the store. Did find street parking but the store is just a tourist attraction. Parking is why we dont visit downtown very often.

A place where customer service exists, walking in here was like taking a step back into a time where customer service is what made a company florish, not just a product they sold. Staff is eager to help and give knowledge on products. Highly recommend. Also I hear they only pick buildings that have a rich history, may be worth a Google and a visit

This was my first visit to Mast General. They have a hugh variety of items. It is nicely laid out. For my wallet I find they are a little pricey. But then I didnt know what to expect. The store is worth visiting. I will visit again.

Old time store with a 21 century appeal.

The store has a really nice layout and feel to it. Staff I dealt with were very helpful. They carry a wide range of great clothing products, and I was happy they had the items I was looking for. Will be back when I have more time to browse.

Great place if youre into the outdoors. Lots of brands associated with being outside, and a huge selection of everything from socks to water bottles. Staff has always been super friendly every time I have visited. Huge candy selection too. Prices are in line with their products, which is to be expected at an outdoor outfitter.

This is by far the best Mast store! I really like the one in Valle Crucis but this one tops even that. The store is HUGE! Plus it is extremely clean, merchandise is placed with enough room to browse and the employees are phenomenal. They are helpful and friendly without being overbearing. Some of the prices on the clothing are a little high but most items are extremely affordable. I love Mast General Store and am so happy they have opened in the Roanoke Valley!

If they dont have it then you dont need it!!!! A little something for everyone right down to the person you know that loves the smell of gasoline...they have a candle that smells like it!!! One of the best stores in Roanoke and they saved a landmark building from decaying further!!!! WAY TO GO MAST GENERAL STORE!!! I hope the folks of the Noke serve you well!!!!

Interesting selection, helpful staff but a bit over priced. They have candy that is hard to find elsewhere and, for that alone, Ill likely return some day. If the prices were a little more reasonable, I would probably be by regularly.
