I have been here on multiple occasions and been happy each time. They’re thorough, they explain in a helpful way what needs to be done, and the price is always fair. They also did me a favor because I didn’t have a tool once even though it was the end of their day. Definitely recommend.

They are fantastic! The skid plate under my car came down & was scraping the road while I drive. I am on a very tight budget so I saved $100 to fix it this week. I brought it in & 15 minutes later my it was back up & reattached! Then he said no charge..just remember us when you need more work done. I surely will & am so very appreciative of their help. Its rare to find any mechanic like this. I highly recommended them!!!

I needed tires and took a friends advice and called Sam Lovetro Auto. You could definitely tell he has been in the business for a while, he was so knowledgeable and answered all my questions without trying to up sell like I’ve encountered in the past. I ended up having to move my appointment date because I was stuck at work and when I called I talked with his wife Arlene, she was super friendly and understanding. I think think that is so cool that they are a true family business. I would recommend and go back next time I need something for for my car!

Sam and Arline were extremely helpful, and professional when helping us purchase a vehicle. We are from Massachusetts, and bought a truck in New York. We needed a mechanic to look at the vehicle for us as we are out of state. The dealership was not very respectful when they brought the truck to his shop, but Sam continued to look at the truck for us. We appreciated his honesty and time to do this for us. He even cared by checking in a week later to see if we purchased the truck. Thank you Sam and Arline for making this process less stressful for us!

I was towed here by AAA after my car shut off while driving, and told that my issue was an improperly connected battery. I was told that my starter, alternator, and electrical system were checked and were okay. Three days later I had to be towed again because of my starter, which when replaced (by someone else) was found to be completely shot (it was falling apart from rust). Just because a car starts, doesnt mean the starter is in good condition.They found $600+ worth of work to do on my wheels from when I had it towed. Although those arent the reason I had my car taken to this shop, I recognize that these were long lasting and significant issues my car had, and I appreciate Lovetro doing fast and quality work on that portion of my car.3/5 for the mixture of positive and negative experiences.

I decided to go there after reading all the reviews online. I am still new to Rochester and boy was it a good choice to go and give them a try. They were honest and prices were definitely fair also was able to provide me with recommendations on what to look into next. Give them a try you will not regret it i know they have a customer for life.

8/24/2020Called Sam on a Monday morning and told him about a air conditioningproblem i was having with my Audi A8l (these cars are like a jet cockpit inside and are very complicated and i have owned many cars over the years, so i know a good mechanic when i talk to one) So i had a nice talk with Sam, dropped the car off and about 2 hrs later he called told me they found the problem and did the fix, i was very impressed with his knowledge and service and would highly recommend him for any of your auto service needs. This is by far the best automotive shop Ive ever been to! This year Ive had my car serviced here 3 times and every single experience were genuinely good experiences. My favorite part about going there is that I always get my car back in a timely manner. For example, today I went for a broken car horn, seat belts that didnt work, and an inspection. I got my car back in under 1 hr. and Im able to get my other errands done. The prices are affordable and reasonable. The customer service is always in point. Truly the best place to get your car serviced in Rochester!!

Great place for ur car

I recently moved to the Rochester area and this shop was recommended to me by a friend. Im so glad it was. Ive had to take my car there twice now to deal with a check engine light problem and both times theyve gone above and beyond in the service theyve provided. Theyve been able to get me in quickly and efficiently and best part, they didnt charge me at all for the second time I brought it in. Instead they did the research and let me know that a pricey repair would covered under my cars extended warranty and that I should take it to the dealer. I will definitely continue to come back to Sam LoVetro and will recommend their shop to my friends in the area. Thank you for such great service!

They told me I didnt need a new battery after it kept dying. They told me to just let it sit while on and charge it every couple of days. I did that and it still keeps dying on me. I need a new battery. Now Im stuck.

Sam and his people do great work, and he seems like a straight shooter whos not going to tell me that I need work done if I dont need it done.There were a couple of times where I asked Sam how long the work would take so that I could bring the car in before work and not lose income from having to miss work, and Sam either didnt get the work done when he said he would or didnt call me to let me know that the work was done, and I ended up losing income because of it. But after letting Sam know about it, and telling him how much income I had lost, he offered to knock the lost wages off of my bill the next time I bring the car in. He apologized and made it right, which I really appreciated.

We have been going to Sam for 21 years. I have never had a complaint about him. He is honest and wont do unnecessary work. Cant say enough good things about him!!

I first went to Sam Lovetro when my former mechanic suddenly passed away and I need to find another mechanic. My former colleague recommended him and I took a chance on going to someone new. I have not been disappointed. He is very thorough and very honest with the work that needs to be done. Will not do any work just to charge you more. I now take my two vehicles to him. Sam is an upstanding, honest, and clever mechanic. He always strives to provide the best service for his customers, while always keeping cost in mind. He will never up-sell you or try to convince you to repair or replace something that does not need attention unlike many dealers. Brought my car in to address a problem that a chain repair shop not only missed, but completely ignored (brake rotors). I was able to bring my car into Sams and was offered a reasonable flat-rate package for the repair. Within a couple hours the car was done, and the work was flawless. Will definitely be returning if I ever need any maintenance done on my vehicle.

Was very impressed with my experience here. I came in with a number of concerns about the performance of my 09 Honda Fit and Sam looked into each one. The only issue that really needed addressing was a bent back plate on my brake which he straightened out. He didnt even charge me for the diagnostic work but let me go for free. Definitely will be coming back due to his honesty and generosity. He was quick and communicated well with me about the status of my car.

Today I went out to my car, only to realize I had a flat tire. I called AAA and got towed to the nearest automotive shop. Sam Lovetro took me in as a customer and fixed my flat within 10 minutes! My wife and I have taken our vehicles to Sams for years and will never go anywhere else. On more than one occasion he told us we did not need any repairs, and on two occasions with flat tires he not only fixed the tires but did not charge me. This honesty and professionalism is becoming more and more rare in our world and I cant recommend his business highly enough.

This is going to be my go to place. My blazer died on main street in front of Nick Tahous yesterday. Saw these guys had good reviews and AAA recommended them so I had it towed there while I caught a ride to work. They told no chance to look at it then. Today they called me and told me theyd found the problem. My thoughts were fuel pump or alternator which if they had told me either Id have believed them. What they did tell me was my car was very low on oil and a sensor tripped a safety switch that turned off the fuel pump so it wouldnt damage the engine. The repair? They added 3 qts of oil. FIXED! They could have taken me but they didnt. They even told me since I couldnt make it before they closed today, Friday, and they werent open all weekend that they would hide my key so I could get it and just stop in Monday to pay. My car was towed there and I went straight to work. I havent even met these guys but they are my heroes today.

If you live in Rochester - and even if you dont! - you need to go to Lovetro. Im a single girl and the only thing I know about cars is how to start them, so Im usually an easy target for mechanics. But every time Ive been to Lovetro Ive been treated respectfully and given excellent service at an excellent price. Im considering moving away from Rochester...but I dont want to leave now that Ive finally found trustworthy car guys! Thats how good they are!!! I honestly cant say enough praiseworthy things about Sam and Dan. They deserve your business!

I am new to the Monroe County area from NJ. My cars check engine light came on and so I researched for a reliable mechanic. Sam Lovetros was the first name that appeared. After reading his reviews I visited his shop and made an appointment. I had an idea what was wrong with my car but once they looked my car over the repairs were much more dire. Actually my car was unsafe to drive and the costs of repairs were substantial. I really appreciated that Sam allowed me to explore my options because I considered buying a new car but after a day I decided that the repair on my old girl would be best. I am glad I did. My car drives like a dream even better than when I purchased it and the repair I thought I needed Sam informed me that it could be repaired at a later time. I definitely want to cosign all the reviews and state that this is one of the few times a mechanic didnt buy and sell me because I am woman. He was fair and honest and even gave me an approximate 15% discount. Thanks Sam you and your staff are the best!!!

I called because I had coolant pouring out of my car and he told me to bring it by and he will give it a look, he warned me that it would be a while because he was pretty busy. He looked at it and fixed it by 3:00. Could of over charged me and said it was a head gasket but didn’t. it ended up being cheaper than the price he quoted me with. It was my first time here and I went based on the google reviews, and they were legit. and I will be a long time customer from now on.

My two experiences with this garage have been superb.Unlike the many chains and franchise auto repair facilities around Rochester, this garage has not made a business of charging car owners extra for unneeded and unrequested work.Today, I asked for diagnosis of a clunking on the rear drivers side when I hit a bump. I thought it was a bad strut or a loose exhaust part.Sam drove the car, put it on the lift and saw a leaking shock absorber. What he did next was amazing and really appreciated.He phoned a local Hyundai dealer from whom he orders parts and confirmed shocks are covered on my car for 10 years or 60,000 miles. My car has 50,000 miles and is five years old, so Sam advised me to get the repair for free at the Hyundai dealer.When I offered to pay him for the time and diagnosis, he would not accept payment.Its a pleasure doing business with such an honest mechanic and nice guy.

These guys were great. My car was overdue for an inspection and they went out of their way to get me in as soon as they could.They did all the repairs that needed to be done, pointed out a few things that could be worked on but were not necessary, and were even patient with me when I had to deal with some credit card issues.

They have fit me in sooner than expected and had my car done faster than expected a few times now. The shop is on the small side but the service is outstanding.

Ive been dealing with Sam for over 20 years, hes fair, honest, extremely reasonable and does excellent work and well always have our business.

They know what they are doing and just exactly what your car needs (no extra stuffs). I have been having a noise problem with my car for few months. I took it to the couple other mechanic chain places, they could not find the root cause of the noise and suggested to replace a lot of parts (which would have costed a lot if I went along). The car problem got worse, so Ive decided to try Sam Lovetro Automotive closed by my place. I took my car in at 8.30am, they looked at my car and have it fixed by 9.30am. And they charge me nothing for the fixing the problem! Recommend this place if you are looking for a good and honest mechanics.

Ive never been to a mechanic that let me drive away with an unfinished job. I went to this place for the first time to get my brake lights fixed. Apparently the switch was broken and needed replacing.After an hour the mechanic told me I was all set, handed me the keys, and I drove home. I was going on a camping trip the next day. I decided to double check the brake lights and make sure they were in fact working. My boyfriend said the third brake light was lighting up perfectly fine, but the two main ones were hardly lighting up at all, only a very dim amount of light appeared. I was really confused and thought maybe they replaced the switch but the bulbs still needed replacing. I couldnt imagine them noticing the dim lights and not saying anything to me.The trip was the next morning so I wasnt able to take the car back. Of course, on the way to the campgrounds I got pulled over. The cop said my brake lights were not working properly. At the campgrounds I opened my trunk to find that both brake lights were dangling out of their sockets by the wires. I fitted them back into place and they lit up like normal brakes. But I still couldnt believe this got overlooked by the mechanics.I drove back to Sam Lo Vetro right after the trip and told him what happened. I wanted to inform them of their mistake and make sure everything was fitted properly (I am no mechanic and wasnt sure I did it right). Wouldnt you know it...he said he remembered testing the brake lights. They also noticed the exact same thing I noticed! I asked why they didnt double check the bulbs when they noticed them appearing dim. He became very defensive and argumentative. He said the switch is located at the front of the car so they never needed to open the trunk. Then he blamed the sunlight for making the brake lights appear dim.How was the sunlight making two of the brake lights look dim yet the third one was lighting up fine?Why wouldnt they simply double check to be sure, as a professional would have done? I paid to get my brake lights fixed. That includes both the wiring and the lighting.I asked him if there was anything he could do for me. After all, I got pulled over due to their negligence. Maybe he could give me a discount or something. He got overly defensive again saying he already gave me a good deal. That they worked really hard for an hour to replace that switch and that he can only apologize. He proceeded to apologize several times, but in a very unapologetic tone.At this point I felt very uncomfortable. I felt like I had to be overly nice and accept his apology to avoid any further awkwardness.It was a really bad experience. Im incredibly disappointed in this mechanic and the way he responded to my problem. It did not seem as if customer service was the top priority.I will not be returning, and I do not recommend this place to anyone seeking professional service.

Called in a week early to have the odd noise in the front of my car checked out. I dropped off my car at 430pm and he called back at 720pm with the diagnosis, He knows his stuff and completed the work by noon the next day.

Sam and his team are awesome, honest guys. I went in for an oil change and asked him if he could look at my steering since it was making a clunking noise and had loose steering. Instead of insisting it was a bunch of things Sam was straight up and told me its extremely common in G6s and its going to be very expensive to fix and it is not worth it because there is no safety issue. He also got a chunk of rust out of my rear rotor that was causing a squealing noise. Then he went and searched the problem for the steering and turns out GM dealers will replace the part for free if the car is under 150,000 miles. He saved me a ton of money and stress. This is how every mechanic should be. I wont take my business any where else now. Hard to find a businessman whos honest and treats you As he would expect to be treated.
