Great day on the Bay to celebrate my wifes birthday with some of her family & friends! South bay Marina came through with everything as advertised. Check-in, and checkout were painless and the staff was great! They are knowledgeable, and personable. Great time, will definitely come here for our next rental!

We have been customers at this boat shop for many years. Unfortunately this year they went downhill significantly. We rented a boat for 4 and a half hours and then they took an hour away months later for a scheduling conflict. Instead of giving us a significant discount, as they should have for taking almost 1/4 of the time away they were extremely rude and offered us 7 dollars back on what should have been way more. When we called to speak to them about the time change we were told it was way above their pay grade. Instead of putting us in touch with someone who could help we were brushed aside. Horrible customer service. Ultimately we decided to cancel what we had been looking forward to for months. Also we were charged a cancellation fee when their website clearly stated there was no fee when cancelled more than 48 hours in advance. Based on the lack of customer service and blatant rudeness I would not recommend ever renting from this place.

Boat was very nice and we all fit comfortably (8 people)...great time had by all! Good value

Hard working owners! Boats are cleaned throughly, customers are well taken care of. Never had a problem and if we did, the problems were always resolved professionally. Will always recommend!

Writing this review while I am stranded on their boat. We didnt make it very far and the boat spluttered and stopped. Gas gauge doesnt work so we are unsure if we are out of gas or the boat is just screwed up. Good luck renting here. Will update when no longer stranded.update: we got a new boat. It worked. They didnt charge us for gas for that day. They told us that the same boat dies on someone else but they thought they fixed it.

South Bay was fantastic, and I would recommend to anyone looking for a casual joyride on a nice boat. We actually had one boat break down halfway through our four-hour reservation, and they not only gave us an extra 30 minutes of time on the next boat, they upgraded me to a far better boat and covered fuel charges for that reservation. Truly phenomenal service

These guys are the best. Ive been bringing my boat here for years and they do it all. Bottom painting, canvas waterproofing, winterizing and powerwashing. They even reconditioned one of my props. Cant recommend them enough.

Rented a pontoon for a party. It was awesome!! The boat was fantastic! Fit a party of 10 comfortable with 3 coolers. So nice cruising the bay. Dropped anchor and had some lunch. Music Relaxing and fun. The staff was great, (thanks Jordan and Alex), guided us out and in. It was a cool and different way to have a small party. I highly recommend this place for a boat rental!

We had a great time. Customer service was great. The boat rental was easy online and easy to register once we got there. After walking us thru the safety guide lines we took off during the day I had a few questions and called them and with no problem they helped me out. I recomend them.

Dont ever recomend this boat rental. They gave us a damaged boat with a broken propeller and side panels falling off they tried to charge us for when it was already damaged prior. We turned back after half an hour and they refused to refund us any money or give us another boat or some form of compensation when we initially paid for a 4 hour rental. Had a terrible experience fully lost my business.

Poor customer service from the owner! Accused us of breaking a control seat arm. Never did a pre or post trip inspection with us present. Said they just replaced the day before. More likely it was already defective and he was trying to find a customer to scam for it. Renters beware if you use this place! Inspect everything, make them sign off in front of you both pre and post trip inspections! there are other boat rentals nearby. do yourself a favor and try out someone else that has a reputable owner!Dont trust this place! Horrible customer service!Hes even trying to argue with me on the review part of his FB page!

Had my outboard in for repair. Jordan did an amazing job for a very fair price. The turnaround time was quick while another shop was not even willing to look at it for over a week. I would highly recommend these guys for anyone that looks for good quality and reasonably priced service.

I recently was able to rent a pontoon boat for my family which we had a total of 7 people on this for the whole day. From start to finish of our day that we got out on the water from 10am we had a blast. The boat we rented was a premium level pontoon boat rental which I highly suggest because it has a bigger motor, holds more weight, and had very comfortable seating for my kids. We fished, swam in the bay and enjoyed just drifting listening to good music. I would highly recommend these guys and will be doing this again because my family had such a great time out on the water and there prices are so reasonable.

They have had my boat in and out of the shop as a first time boat owner Ive had tons of questions and concerns not only did they do some major overhaul work to my boat and for better price then anyone else but the two brothers are extremely knowledgeable friendly and insanely hardworking. Without them answering all my stupid beginner questions I dont even know how I would have been able to get through the process of fixing this boat and getting on the water thanks to them I have an amazing fixed fishing and leisure boat. Cant recommend these guys enough. Thank you both for your patience

When this place was bought out by the two brothers it was a significant improvement. Now that its been a year or so the stock seems to be the same, nothing new to come and buy, mostly trolling stuff. Not really worth my time to stop by and see what they have.The customer service is good and the guys are really nice, the shop is just a bit mundane.

I finally found a local tackle shop that has a huge inventory on everything salmon fishing. I’m also very please with the customer service I received there. I will definitely be a returning customer.

We rented a pontoon boat today and it was a great time! The staff was very helpful with walking through the controls and how to get out from the docks and to the bay. We definitely will come to South Bay to rent again!

For the price of the two better boats is the same cost of one of there not so nice boat. It had a lot of rips in the seats and was not as fast as the other boats. When i asked why the price was the same the person i talked to on the phone was rude. Not the best service. Took one lap around the irondequoit bay and they charged $20 for gas when i never used that much.

I brought my 2005 Pro craft bass boat down to be rubbed out and waxed. It was faded very bad from sitting in the sun in Florida. The entire boat was faded and chalky . When i picked up the boat it looked like it just came off the show room floor. It looked great.I highly recommend them for all your boat and tackle needs.Great job guys. And very very reasonable prices.

I have worked for the new owners of South Bay and they are far better than the old owner ken which I also worked for. They actually know what they are doing and know how to treat their customers/employees. The guys are great mechanics so any motor/body work you need done I strongly suggest Southbay Boat and Tackle!

The guys that own this place are friendly and fare. I take my boat here for winterizing and minor repairs.

We rented a boat on Fathers Day for a Father/Son fishing trip with my 13yr old son. Because multiple people had a 1pm check-in we were told we had to wait for everyone else to get checked in before they took us to our boats as a group. Thirty minutes after our 1pm start time they brought us to the boat but couldnt get it started and had to call the owner for help. By the time they finally got it started an hour had passed but we still had to be in by 5pm, even though we paid for a 4 hour rental? After about 1 hour on the boat it was filling with water. Not enough to worry about sinking but enough it that was up to our ankles, so we had to motor around with we feet and then drive home with soaking wet sneakers... It wasnt the Fathers Day trip we planned at all. We wanted to make a special memory, but instead had a very poor experience.

These guys know how to do business.

Very willing to help and take care of their customers. Stored my boat for the winter and helped tune the engine in the spring. Slightly delayed it they took care of us in the end.

Called South Bay with a Genesee River boating emergency on a Sunday and they were kind enough to stop by to troubleshoot the motor. Boat is now in their shop getting a new fuel pump and a full check-up. They provided immeasurable assistance and they will be the only ones I call from now on.
