Although I was dreading dealing with used car salespeople, I made the drive from Portland to Rochester.I was more than pleasantly surprised by my experience there. The staff was impressive: they were smart and professional with no high pressure tactics or double talk. Rebecca and Todd were great to work with! The selection was wonderful and the prices fair. I dont know who chooses their vehicles but it is definitely someone with a very good eye. I left there with a beautiful vehicle at a very fair price.I recommend First City without reservation!

We got off to a rocky start with our purchase of a 2004 Jeep Wrangler from 1st city. After having multiple discussions with the owner Rick-O they went above and beyond to ensure we were happy in the end. Rick did extras like an oil undercoating and was very communicative during the whole process. I got a equinox from them roughly 2 years ago. And I had to put 3200 into this suv and It is now not running last labor day a year ago I spoke to Rick the owner and he told me when he gets back from vacation he was going to put me into something else Because he said the suv wasnt safe for the road and guess what I called him again a wk later like rick told me to and when I did he told me nothing more he could do for me and will not take the suv and get me into something else I have all the receipts on the work I had to get down and still not running even to his friends garage that gave me an estimate and said they didnt even want to touch the vehicle and good luck

We just bought an amazing van from 1st City and was so impressed by them! We even had another van that we were ready to sign the paperwork and had a friend suggest to check 1st city out and they just happen to have the same make and model we were looking for. Today I bought a 2011 Cadillac Escalade at the Gonic location. When I first got there I started walking towards the cars and looking and was soon greeted by Amanda, we started talking and she was amazing helping me find a 3rd row vehicle that was practical for my family but also something to make my first time purchasing a vehicle awesome. I told her that I wanted something fancy for myself but I know I need 3rd row seating because I have kids. She let me talk her ears off, answering all my questions and repeated questions haha. She even went for the test drive with me because I was afraid to go alone in such a nice vehicle. Once we got back and I decided it was definitely what I wanted and in my price range, we went inside to start the paperwork. Inside I met Anthony who was also so friendly and kind. Everyone congratulated me and I explained that this is the first time buying something for myself and how blessed I am to be able to buy it. I didn’t catch everyone else’s names but they also where so kind to me. I highly recommend checking 1st city out if your looking for a vehicle but also no pressure and friendly staff! I will definitely go back to get a second vehicle when I can. They truly and honestly made me feel amazing about my purchase. Oh- and Anthony asked me if I had insurance on my trade in and I told him I’ve never had insurance on my car, or any car I’ve ever owned- I asked him questions about if I should just get liability and he helped explain the different types of insurance because I didn’t even know how insurance on cars worked. He answered all my questions and got me in touch with Darrel who gave me a call got me a bunch of quotes and helped me get full coverage for an amazing price. I seriously recommend going here. Do not EVER buy a car from this place. My husband recently bought a car from here that supposedly had only 60k miles on it. Within the first week of having the car, the car began shaking when he would go over a certain speed. He then had to get the wheel bearings and alignment changed. A few weeks later the transmission blew for the first time and then a few weeks later for a second time. He had to replace the transmission not once, but twice since having this car! The alignment has already been replaced twice as well. Most recently the car was beginning to have issues turning. Come to find out, he now has to get a new rack, pinion, and a new alignment costing us another $600.00. We have had this car for not even six months yet and it has been in the shop more then it has been driven and we have paid close to $3000 between getting the car towed and fixed. We notified 1st City of every single thing that we have had to fix on this car, but they just dont care. They got there money from the bank and that is all they care about. We will NEVER buy another car from here or recommend this place to anyone.

This place is absolutely terrible, they sell junk cars that they claim are in good shape. I put money down on a car and was told it was refundable...here I am 2 weeks encounting later and have no received a refund or any calls with updates on it. Ive called down multiple times, talked to the manager and they havent even started the process for it even though I had to come down with my card so they could take a picture of it. Please dont go here, they could care less about you as a person/human being. I have purchased many cars from the Rochester location over the years and I have been always treated fairly. The service is always excellent during and after the sale.and the sales staff have always been friendly and honest. I have purchased vehicles from other dealers but these guys are clearly a cut above the rest.

Claimed they had approval on a vehicle 4 me 2 days later said they didnt unless you have good credit dont go here they just shuffle you aside like u dont matter. Talk a good talk but its all BS.

I blew the engine of my car (2006 Chevy Cobalt), and found myself walking if not all the way to work, at least part of the way for over a month. No one would give me a chance or a loan because of my low credit profile, but thanks to a coworker /friend and the guys at first city I have a 2002 Toyota corolla. The guys at first city will bend over backwards for you if you really need a car. Give them a try.

Our trade-in and the price of this vehicle was a nice experience. This is the second suv I’ve bought from First City and everyone genuinely wants to help us get the best prices. This vehicle is used but like my other suv it has been well taken care of from previous owners which is key in buying a used car. We were here a year ago at the Gonic location and same experience. Anything big that happened First City took care of it asap. This new suv has been routinely serviced and has great car facts. I think most reviews are from people that buy used cars and they don’t know the history of the vehicle or they don’t take it to their mechanic first to see if it will have problems. An extended warranty definitely eases the mind of unexpected costs. If it’s an inexpensive car, then know it’s used and it isn’t their fault the car hasn’t been taken care of from previous owners. Buying used can be frustrating but First City has always been professional and kind in both my experiences.

I have bought a pickup and a conversion van in the last year and with both autos I have had nothing but good deals with them at a great price and very good interest rate 2.9 on both autos .The sales people and office people have been nothing but kind threw it all .Visit for your self and look around all the cars and trucks have price on the auto so nothing to hide your price is up front .jacmacattack

Got a Dodge Truck from First City Motors. Transmission issues right away. Ive owned it for 9 months now and it has been nothing but problems. Been in the garage almost every month that I have owned it. When it wasnt in the garage it was sitting in the driveway, because we couldnt drive it. I will never recommend that anyone buy from First City Motors. It was an awful experience shopping with them, and left a very bad taste in my mouth. I am stuck with a bad deal that I have to pay for. Stay far away from First City if you are looking for a family vehicle.

One word :HORRIBLE. My gf went here to purchase a car (after I told her not to because I know how this place operates) and she got a Saturn. Her salesman Brian took all the money upfront and told her he would call her because the check engine light came on when she test drove it. No Brian, you take a deposit and get the car fixed first. So after 3 days of hearing nothing she gets a call to come pick it up. We get there and there is a clear sticker on it, dog hair all over the back seat, and Brian said just take it now and I will schedule an appointment for it to be fixed. I thought that is why we waited 3 days? Anyway we leave with it. We got home and then went to leave for dinner. She couldnt get the car in reverse. It ended up being user error. However my GF who paid in full for this car (and $2000 for a warranty which is absurd), called Brian to try and figure out what the deal was. She was upset and he started laughing at her. Laughing. At a paying customer. Customer is always right Brian even when they are wrong. So we figured it out and went to dinner. We dropped off the car to have it fixed at their mechanics and it was ready to go a little later in the day. We got the reg sticker on it and everything!! There was also a brake rubbing issue they said they fixed. 2 days later the check engine light comes back on. Back in we go. The mechanic got the code and said he would call us with the results. No call. 4 days go by and still nothing. Then they tell her to just bring it back in next week. This is ridiculous. I sold cars at Rochester Toyota and this kind of stuff would not fly there. First City buys cars from other dealerships that are not mechanically sound enough for them to sell, spit shines them and puts them on their lots with jacked up prices. Nobody should be even considering purchasing from here. So now Rochester Tire (who is apparently just as inept as First City) wants the car back in next week to fix it. I am at my wits end here and Brian just seems to think the whole thing is a joke. STAY AWAY FROM FIRST CITY

Since my daughter bought her 2003 VW Golf from First City, just over a year ago, we have had to put $2700 into it. Not sure I need to say anything more than that.

Went in to get a car took a week to get info about a loan and then they sold a car I had a deposit on that they were supposed to hold for me without asking me or releasing the deposit first and when I called about the car I couldnt get any straight answer from anyone over the phone and I had to go to the dealership to get answers and I still had to wait to get a straight answer
