Wonderful selection of instruments. Personalized service. Employees are so knowledgeable and really take the time with their customers. As a parent without a musical background they are always willing to answer questions and never feel pressured to purchase. I Have purchased multiple violins here and we are always 100% satisfied with our purchases. I would recommend to anyone.
Ive been getting instruments here since I was 3~all the way from Iowa! And Ive yet to be disappointed~whether for myself,a friend or a student. So excited to have gotten a forever instrument today!!
Great establishment. Employees are very nice, and instrument selections are wonderful.
I had a wonderful experience with The String House. Since it has been difficult to visit shops during quarantine, the shop sent me three exquisite violas to try for home trial all the way in Virginia. Mr. Steve and anyone from the shop that I interacted with via phone calls or emails were incredibly knowledgeable. They took the time to understand what kind of sound I wanted from my next instrument and were beyond helpful. Would (and will) recommend to any friend or colleague.
Since 2012, our family has purchased four violins and a viola from the String House, along with various bows. Steve and his staff are wonderfully helpful in choosing instruments and keeping them serviced. We keep coming back (all the way from Buffalo) because the people are so friendly, the service is so good, and because of their generous upgrade policy.
I’m a long time customer of the String House....about 35 years! Great customer service, reasonable prices and quality instruments. Highly recommend them!
I have been a customer for years. I have purchased all of my kids instruments there, and go there for all of our service. The staff there are so knowledgeable and helpful, and just plain good people. They have an amazing selection, and make sure you are set up with an instrument that you will enjoy playing and listening to as a student, and will help you as you grow in your talent to find the right fine instrument for you to carry on in your journey. I constantly receive comments on the sound and quality of my kids violin, viola, and cello. Thank you, String House!
Very friendly staff and very quick service
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. We bought a Sitar in India and one of the strings broke. We brought it in, and they helped us fix it and did not even charge us! Just a wonderful experience every time we come in.
Would not recommend. Once they have your money, you are NOTHING to them. They have NO sense of customer service. They really DO NOT know how to run a business. They do not take ANY responsibility for the mistake that they made when there was an agreement (that was pretty straight forward). They messed up so they should own up to their mistake as it is good business practice.
They are incredible! They fixed a broken bow of mine and it looks perfect. Also, they hand picked a beautiful violin for me from a description of what I wanted via phone. They also travel down to Hart Music Scoot often to help the students with instruments, bows, and accessories.
It is always a pleasure to do business at The String House! Thank you for helping me to buy a beautiful bow and for the excellent customer service!
I walked in-never having been here before- knowing I would leave with a beautiful instrument in hand, just based on word of mouth. Betsy, et al, were so very helpful and of course, extremely knowledgeable. Choosing a violin and bow, was a very pleasant experience. I went in knowing which two I wanted to try, was handed two of each and several bows. I knew right off which violin I wanted, but they were all lovely. I HIGHLY recommend The String House!
Been customers for 13 years - always provided great instruments. Super nice staff and very intelligent! Would definitely recommend!
They do not work on bass instruments or bass bows.I was in town with a tour and needed a bow rehaired. I got an unwelcome vibe from the receptionist because she was upset they dont hire local conservatory musicians for the touring productions. The receptionist told me they dont do bass bows, however as I was heading out the door the luthier stopped me and said hed be happy to do it. It was clear after the fact that they dont do bass bows because of the sloppy job. They did not use enough hair and it was noticeable in my sound after that. It was also more expense than what I deem fair based on string shops in my hometown.2 stars because they did give me same day service.
Very helpful. Had a lot of information about the instrument my daughter is going to be playing this year.
Always well served by the staff, recommend highly for students and parents, they make the experience of buying instruments easy and enjoyable.
As a newly graduated Eastman student at my first job, Paul, at String House, helped me find the beautiful Nicolas Maline violin bow that I currently play on. He had a wonderful selection of Hills, Gillet, Voirins, and Sartorys to try. It was a real education at the time, and Paul was happy to help look up some information for me in one of the bow speciality books. I believe it was Les Archets. Thanks! Its a shame I live in TX now! It would be fun to visit String House more regularly.
Very helpful staff
Friendly experience, and theyre willing to help you find the best violin for you. Large selection of string instruments too!
Wonderful store, great service, great people
I bought my current cello 12 years ago from the String House, and I could not be happier with the both cello and the customer service!
