Like so many places in America, this place too has been hit by Covid and basically shut down. Only the service department is operating and can provide what you need. However, if you are a DIY kind of person who just needs something simple done (like changing a tail light) you are better off going down the street and finding another auto parts place to purchase from.
Traveling from PA to FL and had a minor problem needing to be fixed. They worked me in right away and got me back on the road in no time. Service manager and tech were both very understanding and extremely helpful. THANK YOU!
I was told to come to the Rock Hill location from South Blvd because there was a 3 hour wait there. They squeezed me in and I was able to get my battery replaced in less than 30 mins. They also gave me a better battery than the one I had because it wasn’t in stock. Special thanks to the pregnant lady who installed my battery!They were AMAZING! They’ve definitely gained a new customer. I will be back!
The store part is completely gone now, only tires and service center are open. I had an appointment but the mechanic didnt show up til an hour later. After the brake check, they quoted me $1700 to fix the issue and put on 4 new tires and alignment. Without the tires, they wanted $1100. I got quotes from other mechanics to fix the same issue for $600. Definitely not coming back.
I have had my car there twice and could not be happier with the service work and the people who work there!!!! 5 stars not enough. I am new to Rock Hill and I have found my go to car place. Mark is the best!!!
The employees at this location went above and beyond to work quickly to replace my car battery after it died when I was two hours away from home with my kids in the car. The customer service was top notch. Very professional environment. Highly recommend.
I had to go to pep boys today to get a tire repaired. I was disappointed when I walk through the door as I noticed they don’t sell part anymore but there service hasn’t changed. When I got there I talked to Mark at the service counter I ask him how long to get a tire repaired he told me 2 hours. Once he realized the tire was already off the vehicle he took the tire and fixed while I waited. Thank you Mark for taking care of me quickly and professionally.

I needed a tire replacement urgently. So much so that I had already done 50% of the shops job & taken the wheel off to bring with me. I come in with an hour & a half until closing with nobody at the sales desk, so I go around back & speak to a sales girl that instantly tells me theres nothing she can do about it for a few days, despite the fact that there are three techs behind her scrolling their phones.This is already a last-resort shop to begin with, but the fact that you cant squeeze a 15 mins top job into the hour & a half schedule left with multiple sets of idle hands really shows how downhill the place has gone over the years.
Great experience! My brake lights weren’t working and it turned out to be the bulbs burnt out. Devlin helped me out and it was fixed quickly!

Mark at Pep Boys may have literally saved my life in addition to thousands of dollars. After a scary car experience on the interstate, I had my car towed to a dealership, and they told me I needed a transmission coolant kit among other expensive repairs. Took my car to Mark for a second opinion…well, not only did I not really need the other repairs, there was an underlying issue with my transmission that the dealership didn’t catch, which could have put me in a dangerous situation again! The coolant kit would have been a bandaid on a bullet wound. Mark helped me find an affordable new transmission and saved me from another unsafe situation. I am so thankful for all his help, and I would recommend him to anyone in the Rock Hill area!

I am very grateful for the good people at Pep Boys in how much they helped my family and I. We had been out of town and were on our way back home traveling through South Carolina when we encountered brake failure. Pep Boys went the extra mile to help fit us in and assisted in every way that they could while we were literally stranded out of town. They ordered the parts which were needed and fixed the vehicle once the parts arrived. In the meanwhile they literally drove us to various rental car agencies until we were able to secure a rental car to get back home.
Avery did an amazing job with helping me get a good deal on my new tires and an oil change done!! Definitely recommend this location!

This location is amazing!!!!! I went to Walmart in Fort Mill to have my tire checked at 7 am. My tire was completely flat the night before. So I was facing a safey hazard.They posted a sign which said they dont open until 8. I returned at 8. They were delayed in opening. 45 minutes later they told me you need an appt now for tires. Pep Boys took me in immediately and told me that in was a nail!!!!!!! You rock!!!!!!

Super nice staff. Couldnt get the parts they needed for my car. I ran around and found the items, drove out to Rock Hill from Great Falls to bring them the parts and still the bill was high. Found out they charge $126 an hour for labor. $50 dollars for an OIL CHANGE. Plus abs extra 25 bucks for them just to tell me it needed struts after thats what i said it needed.Not happy with the high prices! Lesson learned.
First let me say ...have you ever seen a pregnant woman do an oil change?.... crazy thing is I have ....and what made this experience worth it was the fact that a couple weeks ago not only did Mark squeeze me in for a last min oil change...but I also got to watch from the waiting room window ...the store manager whom is pregnant by the way do my oil change quickly and of course give me recommendations for things I needed to do for my car for the future...and even though I did just do an oil change... I will be back and will always take my business to pepboys. ..the questions is ? Does all pepboys have such great a staff as the pepboys inRock hill. ..? I hope so either way they have my future business for sure!

I took my car to Pep Boys at 9:30am and is being told my car won’t be done until 2pm. Waiting isn’t the issue but the nonchalant attitude of one of the workers did not sit well with. I asked how long it will take and he said “oh I don’t know” and did not even try to find out an estimate time. He claim that he’s waiting on a call for a part that I later found out is optional that I did not need to get from the mechanic. Meaning, my car could have been serviced and could have been out but now I have to wait until my car gets worked on. My car has not been worked on currently at 12:34pm and my car was dropped off at 9:30am and I made an appointment before I came to Pep Boys. I know now, that I won’t be coming to Pep Boys unless Mark is working. Haven’t experienced bad service like this in a while. I normally don’t write reviews but here is to my review today.
I had a radiator leak on my way to visit family. I didnt know anyone in town and was very anxious about being stuck. Allie at the front desk said they would look into it and was very kind. The technician, Mr. Dawson and Allie came out to speak to me and I was back on the road in a short amount of time. They could tell I was rattled and were so kind during the process. Thanks so much!!!!
Placed an order online for tires and scheduled appointment for installation. Got a call the morning of appointment saying they dont have those tires (and I guess cant order them?), so offered another comparable tire that was not at this location, but could be here in time for my appointment. I okd it. Got a call an hour later that they cant get those tires either, and are trying to sell me a different size. Told them to cancel my appointment and order. If you cant get tires - they shouldnt be on your website store. If youre going to offer something else, make sure you can get them. Otherwise, its sounding like a lot of lets sell what we want to sell, regardless of what the customer wants. FYI Discount Tires said they can get my original tire request in stock by Tuesday this week. It will cost me a little more overall, but apparently they want my business.
I had a 1pm appointment and I didnt get out till 3pm for two rear tires. I mentioned that Walmart had the same times for $11 lower on each tire and I only got $11 off of each tire. They were so slow the manager recommended customers to go down the street to the competition. I should have gone else where for my tires.

Dropped my truck off this morning 12/16 at 9:00AM; scheduled the appointment yesterday 12/15. Called this morning at 11:25 AM asking if it would be ready at lunch so i could have a ride back and the lady that answered the phone said that the guys had unloaded a truck and my truck hadnt been pulled in the bay yet!Asked her when it would be ready and she advised I dont know?! the guys have other cars in the bay being worked. What good is setting an appointment to have the oil changed when they are going to honor the said appointment and make you wait for all day.Last time I ever go take a vehicle to this location.
My husband and I purchased tires and the lifetime alignment for our car here and they were super helpful! We recently moved out of state and stopped at a Pep Boys in Connecticut to use my lifetime alignment service and they were not helpful at all. I ended up calling back this Pep Boys in SC to see if they could assist and I spoke with Avery and he was beyond helpful! He spoke to the worker up here in CT and was able to get everything sorted out for me. I highly recommend this Pep Boys!
Dont go to pepboys to get anything fixed unless you have money to burn. They said it would cost me 3600 dollars to fix my driverside upper and lower ball joint and the rack and pinion steering. Complete and udder ripoff. I did it myself for 800 dollars. . I called cherry rd automotive they said they would do it for the 800 I spent so I recommend you go there. Honest good mechanic shop. About 300 of my cost was the tools to actually fix my issues. Long storyshort if you have deep pockets use pepboys. Y

Decent, organized but not as many products as I remember in the past at other stores. Paint care, waxes, polish and other items out of stock. Shelves are half empty. Felt it was a wasted trip and Im used to seeing this amount of stuff at a tiny advanced automotive or wherever.

I brought my car her 3 times with a warranty and these guys mever fixed my car. They charged me cash and then told me I could pick up my car. The same problem was present and I couldnt even get the car off the lot. They treated me like they didnt care if was dissatisfied or disappointed. For us with darker skin, we know why businesses treat certain customers with impunity.

My sister had an appointment for 3:30 and came 6 minutes early to be on time. They told her give them an hour and its been an hour and 20 minutes. The customer service is okay but as far as actually getting your vehicle fixed is horrible. Go to auto parts🙄
I needed a tire almost closing time. She gave me a time frame to be there. I was there and it was quick. It was a fairly priced tire. I did not need nothing fancy. Glad to get it done so I would not be putting someone out.

Mark is a super friendly and nice guy to work with. They were very honest and forthcoming about the issue with my vehicle and let me know all my options on how to proceed.They diagnosed and fixed my car on the First trip! I have had bad luck with wrong diagnostics, multiple back and forth trips because things weren’t fixed right. It was amazingly refreshing to find a place that didn’t have bad attitudes and making it obvious they hate their jobs so they treat customers poorly. I was given service like how it is meant to be and even though I had to spend a bit of money, I walked out of there HAPPY. Thank you PEP BOYS and a shout out to Mark who is truly an asset to PEP Boys!
AWFUL. WILL NOT GO BACK. IT TOOK 3 IN A HALF HOURS TO PUT ONE TIRE ON. THE TIRE PRESSURE IN ALL TIRES WERE DIFFERENT DID NOT CHECK.
Normally I have a good experience at pep boys but my most recent visit was frustrating. I needed help and one employee said he only handles tires and another was playing on his phone. Had 5o get the cashier to help me and she was very helpful.
I had a week of work in Charlotte and was staying in Rock Hill.My van had a big leak in the coolant system as I was returning to the hotel. I managed to get some water and fill the reservoir enough to limp into Pep Boys; which thankfully was within eyesight of my hotel that trip. That was at 10:30 pmIt wasnt over though. I needed to be in Charlotte at 6 am, I couldnt return to Pep Boys before they closed to pay in person and at least say thank you for helping me and I needed to be in Greensboro the next morning (which is now by the way). Cherry on top; I wasnt able to use my phone once work started and the only way I could communicate with the store throughout the day was through text or maybe email.I used the key drop and wrote a note explaining my situation and I called a few minutes after they opened in the morning.This is where the magic happens folks:Mark answerers the phone and immediately figured out who I was.He offered to text me and assured me throughout the day about the progress of my project.We were able to easily figure out payment and all the other details through text.I was so relieved that I was in good hands and I would not miss my next assignment with an important client in a different city.The job was done before they closed and Mark even dropped off the finished van in the parking lot of my hotel AND dropped the key off at the front desk for me.Im very impressed. I never even got to meet Mark and he really went the extra mile for me.Im now, at 4:23am on sun. March 1, 2020 safe at home thanks to Marks help and able to write a review, take a quick nap and get to work today at 8:30.Thank you so much!

The service I requested was preformed without any issues but man it was expensive! I was quoted in the $20-$30 range to replace 2 tires and balance all 4 on my loose wheels (not mounted on a vehicle). I supplied the 2 new tires and work was preformed. When I was called to the service desk to pay, I was told my total was $149.43!! I couldnt do much at that point so I paid my bill and left but I am still shocked at the cost.

Made an appointment for the following day to have tires installed. Arrived at my set appointment time 8:00am) and was told the tires were not there, although the web site said they had them in stock at the store. He told me it would be 10am. I went home. He called at 10 and told me they would be there around 12:00pm. I confirmed that it wouldn’t take long to get them installed. He assured me in the phone they have plenty of technicians. I come in at 12:30 to get them done. Told by another guy that it was going to be a while that the tech was working on something else. I guess my question is why schedule appointments when you don’t abide by them? Why say you have a product in stock when they’re not there? (Note: when making the appointment I put the make, model, size, factory item number and store sku on the notes.) why would you roll customer after customer in and out while my truck sits in the parking lot and I get ignored. Wouldn’t you think that if you’re going to waste a persons entire day running to and from the store in Rock Hill SC, that the final trip you wouldn’t make kind of a priority? Place is a joke. Never coming back and telling everyone not to go there. Truly think they don’t care about their customers.

This place is something else. They are under new management and I hope he is fixing the service department. Avery has been there for years and is the only saving grace. Everyone else just stands around and watches as lines are to the door as someone else mentioned. You will be stuck standing in line for 30 min or stuck on hold for 30 min because Avery is the only one helping customers and answering the phone at the same time. I have seen this several times not just once or twice. Now I gave it 4 stars because new manager john went above and beyond to correct horrible customer service provided by the old manager who could barely remember his last name let alone what he told you and the promises he made. I hope he continues to take this store in the right direction and train the other employees on how to help Avery. Lots of people have pep boys as their first choice and this is the only one in the county so it was a shame I had to stop going to pep boys all together. Also they never call back as some one else mentioned you have to always be the one to call again and follow up. Again if this is due to lack of man power they need to stop being cheap and hire help and train them if they actually want to improve customer service theres no getting around that.
The people were great. Came in for service on my vehicle. Appointment was scheduled but my car was not seen to in a very timely manner. Over all I am still very happy with everything. Sometimes businesses are just really busy. I will be coming back very soon to get tires for my car as well as my husbands truck. I just hope we dont have to wait so long next time. Cant stress enough how helpful and happy the employees were. Great attitude in the store!
Awful experience. I went for an engine diagnostic just to have my car held for over 24 hours and be charged over DOUBLE from what I was told the evening before when I called to make sure they were only doing a diagnostic to find out why my newly replaced mass air flow sensor wasnt reading right. After two hours the tech showed me how when he wiggled the wire, it would have a reading) and would search for the short. Later they asked to keep it over night... I followed up a few hours later to be sure that I was only being charged for a diagnostic, of which I was assured and told I could rest easy. The following day I heard nothing back and had to be the one to call them twice just to find out they couldnt even finish the diagnostic since apparently they concluded that my pcm needed to be replaced first.. They had performed additional wire testing against my knowledge and without permission and charged me an additional $130. The manager was super unhelpful when I asked why I was charged more than the diagnostic and what I was told. Overall I found my experience to be extremely inconvenient and unprofessional.I have gone to this Pep Boys location several times and had good honest service, but this time my experience was AWFUL. I dont understand why they had to be dishonest and not tell me about the additional testing BEFORE doing it. I would have agreed to it, but the fact that I was told I was being charged only for the diagnostic, even when I followed up several hours later and didnt get any word about my vehicle being ready until I called them, made me upset. I do not like dishonesty and being charged additional $130 especially since they werent even able to complete my $90 diagnostic...
About a week ago, I went into this place thinking that I had a starter issue when it turned out to be just a dead battery. The team had nothing but patience and treated me with such kindness even with me being silly trying to self diagnose my car with barely any knowledge. They also quoted me with a great price. The guy I mainly dealt with (I believe his name is Mark but I dont remember!) was not only amazing but he quoted me with a great price with the battery he ordered for me. I highly recommend and I will definitely be back! Hopefully they will not disappoint in the future.
For bearer of bad news, Mark at automotive service desk, was great. Nobody wants to hear they need a new motor. He volunteered to do some research for me to help me decide to rebuild, replace or dump it and move on with how I spend my money. His detailed explanation in layman terms was what I needed. I will wait for his call to determine how I proceed.
Had an alternator installed on my son’s ‘98 Ford Mustang. Staff was super helpful and the price was in line with what we expected to pay. We dropped the car off and it was ready when they promised it. Always good to feel welcomed when you go to get your vehicle repaired.
Stay away. Thats how Im going to start this review. Im not hard to please. I just expect professionalism and customer service at a BUSINESS. The staff here are unprofessional. Everyone just stands around looking at their computers without even greeting you. They act like you dont even exist. By the time someone does acknowledge you, they have food in their mouth and they have the you interrupted my meal attitude. Very little attention to detail. OVERLY PRICED. After the guy inspected my vehicle his body odor was left behind. At least spray it down or do something so the customer vehicle stays fresh. Overall not a place you would want to bring your vehicle to or even go to.
People are nice but made an appointment for 10:00AM got there at 9:30AM and waited for over 3 hours for 4 tires to be mounted and balanced. Don’t give me the option to make an appointment and let me wait if your treating it like I’m dropping off for the day! Will never come back and will make sure everyone I know is aware of this. Rather pay dealership price and get in and out faster. Not worth it.

Went in for front end alignment, oil change & tire rotation. Left my phone # to call when it was ready. Came back after 1 hr & 20 minutes. Truck still in the service bay. Let counter person know I would be in the waiting area. Waited for 45 minutes before stepping outside to walk around. My truck was in the parking lot. How long? I will never know. Went to pay for service & it was much cheaper than expected. It was then I was told that the front end couldnt be done. No explanation. It just couldnt be done. A two hour oil change. Checked under the hood to make sure it had, at least, been done. Engine was one quart low. The best thing for me to do was leave. Filled out a negative survey. Pep Boys sent me two more surveys, each sent back with a negative response. Also, each with a notice that a representative would be in touch with me. Still have yet to hear from anyone. I will shop there for parts if they are the only ones to carry it, at that moment. Otherwise, unless in a dire emergency, I have no plans to return to their service center. I hope that I am an isolated case.

They were very busy this Sunday, but within 30 minutes we had our new tire installed and were back on the road. I highly recommend this location! Great employees, fair price and exceptional service.
They usually have everything, and they can do almost anything you may need! I have been pleasantly surprised by the low pricing for some of the parts Ive ordered or purchased. Ive not had anything services here, but my parents have in the past and havent had any issues.I would suggest this place for regular services, however special issues might warrant the need for a specialized mechanic... Also, shop around! Price shopping, particularly if you are doing your own service, can save you half of your money!Thank you!
I took my truck in for a power steering problem and decided to get tires while I was there. It was taking so long for them to even pull the truck into the bay, that the service guy offered to call me a free Lyft home to wait. So I went home and waited probably 4 hrs or more before he called me saying it was ready. I told him I would have to wait until my husband got home unless he could call me another Lyft. So he did. He never made mention of a charge for the return trip or else I would’ve just waited. Get back up there just before closing time and pay over $1600.00 which includes a $10.00 charge for the return Lyft. I wasn’t pleased but it had new tires and was fixed... Or so I thought. Fast forward, a month and a half, to two days ago. When the power steering suddenly went out again and one of the tires had been losing pressure over the past week. I call and tell them what is happening. They say no problem. Bring it in when we open tomorrow (Saturday). So I did. My family and I went about our day doing things around town. A couple of those things took us by the store. The truck sat in the front parking lot from open to close. Now I’m getting irritated. Why tell me to bring it in if you aren’t going to have anyone look at it? I realize you aren’t making money off of fixing something that you screwed up. But at least show some effort and make your guys quit playing graba$$ in the bays and do some work. We went home and I called the next morning when they opened to see what they had found out, knowing it would be absolutely nothing because they hadn’t even moved the truck out of the parking space it was in. The guy that answered lied to me and told me that they had checked it out but they were going to have to “do a little more research”. He calls me back at 5:30 and tells me it was a couple of loose bolts on the pump and that they replaced those and it was ready but they close at 6:00. So I rushed up there and got it. No charge. So then jump to this morning when my husband is on his way to work (two days after getting it back). He’s doing 45-50 down Hands Mill when the dash lights start flickering and the truck slips in and out of neutral several times. He pulls into a parking lot and calls me to come get him. We try to make sure it’s nothing stupid like a loose battery cable or anything like that. Nothing. Call 1-800-Pepboys and request a tow truck. Tow truck picks it up around 1:30pm so it got to Pep Boys around 2:00pm. Mark calls me at around 3:00pm to ask what’s wrong with it and I explain the symptoms. He says that it could be a bad battery or the alternator. He’ll figure it out for us. Great. Here we are again at 7:00pm. They close at 8:00 tonight. And I just drove by there. Where is my truck? Sitting outside while there are three other cars on lifts. So now I’m staring to wonder if somebody wanted to make some money off of me and messed something up so they can fix it... If I ever get it back from them, I will not be going back again!
I ARRIVED THERE AT PEP BOYS AND AVERY AND DON WAS SUCH A HELP, EVEN WITH MY DISCOUNT FOR MY OIL CHANGE OF HIGH MILEAGE SYNTHETIC.AVERY WAS SO KIND TO LET ME KNOW ABOUT MY TIRES WHERE I NEED A WHEEL ALIGNMENT, BECAUSE IT WAS CAUSING SOME FEATHERING WEAR AN BUMPS IN MY TIRES.THOUGH I CAN DRIVE THE CAR BUT NOT TO FLORIDA, TELL WHEEL ALIGNMENT IS DONE BEFORE I GET NEW TIRES.SINCE 2017 I HAVENT HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THEM AT ALL.THATS WHY I KEEP GOING BACK TO THEM. GOOD SERVICE AND WORTH THE WAIT.
Well I definitely wouldnt give more than one star. Started with the service writer being very inexperienced. I understand he was probably new. But when you put someone on the counter that doesnt know anything you need to at least have someone there to assist him/show him the way to make a work order correctly.Secondly- I brought my truck into the location because I needed my tire patched and figured while its in I might as well have the oil changed. While I was somewhat satisfied with the time it took to complete the services. I am now very upset at the fact that I had bought my own oil and just realized when I cleaned out my truck the leftover oil container I had been given back. The oil bottle had 2 quarts to much in it. Meaning out of the 2 bottles equaling 10 quarts only 6.5 quarts had been used. My truck takes 8.5 quarts. I immediately looked for my paperwork to get the number to call and see they didnt even have my vehicle correct on the paperwork.Very displeased with the lack of professionalism and common sense to pull a dipstick to verify an oil level!
My mother and I were on our way to the beach with 5 kids when we got a nail in our tire. It was after 7:00 and Walmart, Sears, Sam’s Club and Tire Kingdom were all closed and wouldn’t help us. We called the closest Pep Boys and told them our situation. They closed at 8:00 and we were 10 minutes way. The man on the phone told us to come on in and they would take care of us. We pulled in their parking lot at 7:50 and they were more than happy to take care of us. They were fast and worked well beyond their closing time to take care of us. I can’t thank these guys enough! Excellent customer service and an amazing staff!
Just went in to check and see what all they had on performance parts. I was gladly met with customer service from the cashier. I was pleased all the way around.

I went to Pep Boys for my first service job (oil change and tire rotation) and was assisted by Tony. He did a great job at not only at explaining what other items may be needed for my vehicle, but he was very personal, open and receptive. He wasnt pushy or rushing me, but laid out the options and facts well. He clearly has experience in the industry and customer service. He took the time to be sure I was comfortable while waiting and was friendly throughout the transaction. Who ever is his manager should know, I will come back to Pep Boys, because of my customer service, patient help, and courteous action from Tony. Prices are good, but you are kept as a customer because of service.
Tony Ford was by far the best service manager I have dealt with. I went to Pep Boys in serious stress mode yesterday afternoon! I noticed one of my tires was down to the thread (and I mean I was riding on metal) and I pulled in to Pep Boys praying they could see me without an appointment. Tony helped me calm down by walking out to my car with me to look over, not only the bad tire but, all my tires. As I walked with him he pointed out that essentially all 4 tires were on their way out. THEY WERE!!! I couldn’t believe it. He ultimately played a part in saving my life yesterday by catching what I hadn’t. Also he watched me get discouraged as I told him what else I thought I may need done and he worked with me to get the best possible deal he could after confirming that it did need to be done. He didn’t even think twice. I owe him and his team BIG TIME for making my car safe and good as new again. I couldn’t believe how great of a deal I got on everything too. Not that that mattered in comparison to saving my life though. THANK YOU, Tony!!!!
If you are a female and want a mechanic that is honest, Go to Pep Boys in Rock Hill. The staff is super great. This was my second time having a car problem early in the morning. The problem was fixed both times and I was not charged for the time they spent with me. Great customer service.
I typically go to Advance Auto Parts, but after my visit to Pep Boys that has changed. The customer service was SPECTACULAR! It was like they know what people dont like about the other big auto parts stores and stive to be better. I was truly impressed and going forward, this spot has won my business in Rock Hill. #1 key trait, the staff listens, not common in any big chain store. There were two people at the counter and both were very helpful. I hope they are training all of their staff like this. I look forward to my next visit. Thank you Pep Boys (especially Avery and Sky)!
