This is really a hidden gem in Roswell. After going to multiple different bridal stores for multiple days, my mom and I decided to pop into this place on a whim. We had no appointment. We were looking for bridal party dresses for me and my sister for my moms second marriage.Akunna was extremely pleasant to work with and is beautiful inside and out. She attended to us and made sure we were comfortable. We ended up buying two gowns from here.Unfortunately the groom passed away prior to the wedding. We were unable to get our dresses refunded because they had already processed the order, which is understandable. Now I have 2 beautiful gowns for me and my sister that we wont be wearing, which is a shame! Maybe there will be a special event in the future and we can pull these out.Thanks A Formal Affair!

Akunna was the best! I ended up finding my dress at A Formal Affair. She was so good at her job and was able to find me dresses that were flattering for my body type. Also, my wedding is in November so had to find dresses that would be available to ship out sooner. I had a lot of options but I knew I found the one when my mom, sister and I started tearing up! Best experience ever. You won’t regret coming here.

I went to several different shops to look into tux’s for prom. Only one did I buy from and it was this place. I walked in and it’s under an appointment based system but instead of yelling at me they stepped away from an appointment to help me. They were very clear and made the process so easy all it took were a few measurements and picking my design. They even helped me pick a design based on what my date was wearing. They were always helpful and never looked judgmental, if I had any questions they would help me with a smile. Best and easiest experience I’ve ever had getting a tux. Highly recommend for any formal event. They were a little pricey but nothing compared to other places I went. I also went a week before my prom and they were able to get everything perfect. Couldn’t recommend enough.

They carry a designer I like and an employee took a couple of days to get back to me. The part I didnt like is where the female employee wouldnt tell me what dresses they had in stock for the particular designer I liked in the similar style of a certain gown. I rather not waste time dealing with that and waste their time making an appointment in store. She also offered to do a trunk show just for me without telling me the cost and I told her I dont need to go that far. Ladies, if they try to sell you a dress without the designer labeling, dont pay more than $700 for it. And it is probably made in China.

First and foremost AKUNA was the most professional bridal consultant I’ve dealt with this entire experience . I met her at the Georgia Bridal Show and she was so warm and welcoming then ! I went to 3 appointments that day and the 2nd one i thought i found my dress .. however i didn’t get that “feeling” . Funny thing is i live in Lawrenceville and I was going to completely skip my appointment because it was so far. I am so glad I didnt because When I tell you she literally set my appointment for a one on one experience... there was literally no one else in the building at the time. That alone made the experience very very intimate and special. Unlike other bridal salons that I went to that day AKUNA Took out the time to survey me on what kind of dress I wanted and what kind of vision I had. That literally meant so much more to me than she could imagine! She also went in the fitting room with me AMIST Covid and helped me put on my dress and undergarments with no shame! Every other salon made me go in by myself! Of course like any experience I was looking for the opinions of others to feel that my dress was the one however akuna got me together and told me to look at myself and that’s when i lost it and got myself together ! I started crying instantly and i felt so beautiful y’all ! It was meant for me to have that experience!! I went back in April and got my dress today it fit so beautifully !! I’m so happy with my decision ! She still gave a great experience upon my dress pick up as well !! Kudos to her ! No regrets whatsoever! Thank you a formal affair and AKUNA !

AVOID. I got married in March and regret purchasing bridesmaid dresses and renting tuxes from A Formal Affair.I believe there is only one person who works here who showed up late MULTIPLE times to appointments made and after the time the store was open (store opens at 10am and would show up at 10:15am). Extremely unprofessional.My husband had to reach out to them to ask if his and his groomsmens tuxes were ready. They had been there, but no phone call had been made from A Formal Affair to let us know. When my husband asked if he could pick them up, she responded, well I have to fold them. There was NO customer service.The owner I think? is very condescending and wont apologize for when she is in the wrong. They assumed our wedding was on a Saturday (wedding was Friday) and wanted all of the guys to pick up tuxes on Friday morning of the wedding. They are barely ever open, which makes it very difficult to return tuxes in a timely manner, which resulted in many groomsmen having to pay a fee.On top of this, they made a mistake in ordering one of our groomsmens tuxes and said he never paid it when he did. This resulted in LOTS of stress right before the wedding because of their own mistake, which we never received an apology for.I honestly never write reviews on anything, but I felt extremely passionate about this one, DO NOT SHOP HERE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! Avoid avoid avoid!!

Beware of this business. We made the mistake of not reading reviews prior to purchasing a dress & veil from A Formal Affair. Staff is young, inexperienced, unprofessional & rude. Our review has been disputed twice by the owner & we were required to make adjustments to what in our opinion, were factual statements. Customer service was non-existent, immediately following the purchase & payment in-full plus shipping. It was extremely difficult to get status updates. Akunna completed all measurements for the dress order. When the dress finally arrived, we were asked if we wanted to use their alterations company. We did & made our first appointment. The dress was not at all what we expected & did not fit. The sample dress was a size 10 & the majority of the dress was clipped back to fit a size 4 body. An enormous lace cutout was not visible, & was not brought to our attention, which resulted in additional lining at our expense. The overall quality was not good. The neckline was very rough causing immediate skin irritation. Akunna completed all measuring & pinning for four separate dress fitting alterations, although the alterations company is supposedly a separate company. Akunna handled the transaction for the dress fitting alterations & the charge to my credit card statement was for Helpful Hints, LLC. A simple LLC search revealed that Helpful Hints, LLC listed Akunna as the registered agent for that business & it was active/in compliance. Dress was finally complete & ready for pickup, with multiple residual lining issues Monday, 9/16/2019 before the Saturday, 9/21/2019 wedding. At the third dress fitting, Akunna attempted to charge an alteration rush fee of $190 when she realized that the wedding date was just two weeks away. Akunna had been informed when we originally purchased the dress in February 2019, that the wedding was Sept. 21, 2019. She thought the wedding was Sept. 28, 2019. Akunna started making multiple excuses for the reason we were suddenly in a rush mode for these alterations. Akunna expressed that shipping took 15 days instead of the originally scheduled 7-10 days because the dress was shipped from China & was held up in a port. A Formal Affair was understaffed. The schedule was very complicated & Akunna, Molly & Alex all needed to be present for the next fitting. Akunna expressed that we were contractually bound for rush fees. After listing a multitude of excuses, Akunna ultimately paid the rush fee. A Formal Affair does not appear to have a corporate office as stated by Akunna. The email address for A Formal Affair is a gmail address. According to Akunna & A Formal Affair Manager, Marissa, the corporate office in New York does not have a mailing address, telephone number or contact person. Akunna & Marissa both suggested that we contact the corporate offices at the exact same email address ending in aol.com . A Formal Affair presented the alterations company as a separate company, which allowed them both to blame the other when alterations were not going smoothly. Ultimately, the dress was completed for the wedding. The bustle button fell off within minutes & we secured the bustle with a safety pin for the entire reception. At no time during the four dress fittings did any employee at A Formal Affair apologize for the process or show any empathy for the stress we were feeling. A Formal Affair was our only vendor to receive less than 5 stars. I would not recommend purchasing anything from this business.

This was my first time ever shopping for a wedding dress. I had a wonderful experience. Marisa was very informative and listened to what I wanted. She was very nice and helpful. She is knowledgeable about the selection they have and is very good at suggesting similar dress styles that may look better than what you originally wanted. And the prices of the dresses were very affordable. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone searching for formal wear.

We had a beautiful morning with Acuna finding my sisters wedding dress! She listened well and was able to put together feedback in a way that helped us find the perfect dress! We would definitely come back again as the experience was way better than we could have expected! They were covid aware and made us feel safe and protected by taking our temperatures upon arrival! A formal affair has a great selection of dresses. So if you’re looking to find that prefect dress, I highly recommend them!

I do not recommend this boutique at all. There are so many other places in the Roswell area that are much better. From the moment we ordered our bridesmaid dresses it was just issue after issue. The employees are very rude and do not understand or know what customer service is. The wedding I am in was supposed to be May 23 but due to Covid was moved to September. The bridesmaid dress didn’t even arrive until May 29 when we ordered them in January. This may be due to the pandemic but no communication was sent out from the salon.When my dress did arrive, someone called me from the store to schedule a time to pick up my dress. I told her I could come Monday at 5:30 due to my work schedule and she rudely stated that if I was running late they would not stay late. Her words exactly were “we do not stay 1 minute past 6 and there isn’t any reason good enough for us to stay.”I never asked her to stay late. Anyone with good customer service would never say that. Any small business and good business is willing to help their customers even if they stay a little late.Their attitudes were rude and unprofessional from the beginning.When I went in to pick it up the owner was there and she was nice. However no one greeted us when we walked in. The girl as the desk sat there and just looked at us. It was just a mess.Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere.

This place is amazing! I had a vision of what I wanted for my wedding dress and it just wasnt working. Marisa said Hey, lets try this style. And BOOM I was in love. I literally did the whole shedding tears of joy when I had the dress on. They have been amazing in setting up appointments and following up with you! Akunna was so helpful in making me feel confident that the alteration process would be a breeze! You ladies are the bomb! Thank you so much for helping me find the most beautiful dress!

I went to A Formal Affair a few months ago to get a bridesmaid dress. The bride wanted everyone to be able to find a dress that looked good on them as long as the color scheme looked good and the colors/styles flowed well together. Molly helped make the bride’s vision come true! She picked out several different beautiful dresses of various styles and colors. Molly then helped recommend which style would look best on each individual person. Each bridesmaid was able to find a dress that looked stunning on them. I’m so excited for the wedding to see how all of our dresses come together! The bride was also really happy to see everyone find a dress that looked good on them, in a great color scheme that will really make the wedding stand out and look beautiful. I found my dream dress and it was all thanks to Marisa at A Formal Affair! She was very professional and listen well to what I had to say about each dress. She really cared about helping me and not just about pushing her dresses on me. The store was also very clean and bright and well organized. They just moved into a new building and parking is a little limited but it’s a great building!

Found my perfect wedding dress here thanks to Akunna! I called to see if there happened to be an appointment, and she fit me in 45 minutes later. Her energy made the experience so exciting! She helped me find beautiful dresses in my price point and even stayed over an hour after the store closed letting me continue to try on and re-try on dresses. I am definitely one of those brides who has been dreaming and designing my dress for as long as I can remember. So finding the perfect dress didn’t seem possible. I saw A Formal Affair at a bridal show and decided I might like to try some of their dresses. When I got there Marissa was absolutely fabulous! She was one of the best listening consultants I have worked with and more over, it never felt like she was trying to ‘make the sale.’ She let me come to the conclusion of which dress would be the dress I marry my fiancé in on my own. Even after I knew I found the dress, I decided to make an appointment at a later date just to make sure. When I said yes to the dress, I had a momentary panic and again, Marisa never pushed the sale. She helped me reason through and reassured me that they are confident with sizing and alterations and literally every question I had, she was able to answer. LOVED working with her and A Formal Affair. My mom even wants to look for her mother of the bride dress there :)

I was very impressed by my experience with A Formal Affair. I had found a dress online that I feel in love with, but was having trouble finding a store that carried it. When I called A Formal Affair, they didnt have the dress, but offered to order it in for me (something that none of the other stores I called to check about the dress had done). I showed up for my appointment fully expecting to buy the dress I had ordered, but was amazed by the selection of dresses in store and ended up choosing a different one than the one I had ordered in! The staff was so helpful, the store is really nice, and their selection of dresses is second to none. 10/10 would recommend!

Marrisa was hands down absolutely amazing!!! So many reasons and so much patience. The bad reviews stated how rude and unprofessional they were there. We have been there a couple of times and never had that experience. They have completely catered toy daughter. I will review again one the dress comes in.

This place was so wonderful and such a fun place to find my wedding dress! I had tried on so many dresses before coming here and was getting overwhelmed by what style I actually wanted to go with. They helped me pick out all the different styles I was interested in, and only pulling and showing me dresses in budget (and the prices were totally reasonable). They had me try on the dresses in a particular order so that I could truly see what it was I liked about what style and what exactly I was looking for. I found the perfect dress right away, and was able to buy off the rack. Ive recommended them to all the brides I know!

The best wedding dress shopping experience yet! The staff were very welcoming, helpful and fun. The dresses were well organized, unique and easy to choose from. The dressing room easy intimate and easy to see the dress in Overall and awesome experience and I said yes to the dress!

Our entire group had a terrible experience! The women were rude and messed up everyones measurements. I had previously gone to their store when it was a different location and had no idea they even moved until i arrived to an empty building. I called and the woman was snarky and said its on google. Why on earth would I look for the address on google when I had already been there before. I simply just said, this may be something you might want to tell people. They were still rude and unapologetic. I dont recommend. Was a nightmare from start to finish.

A Formal Affair was the second place I went wedding dress shopping, and I found the experience so much more enjoyable than my first! Akunna was amazing at keeping the vibes positive but being very honest and straightforward at the same time, and as someone who is guilty of not speaking up sometimes, it was a huge relief that she could read my face so well. I found a dress I loved but I still wanted to do a little more shopping (which they didn’t make me feel at all badly about). I ended up coming back to buy the dress a week later, after every other dress I tried on wasn’t measuring up to the one I found at A Formal Affair. The single minor complaint I have is that they don’t let you to take photos in any dresses unless you buy one. I would recommend A Formal Affair to friends/family 100%!

Im only rating it 4 stars because I didnt have a pleasant experience when I initially purchased my dress. But when I picked it up, my experience more than well made up for it.Original Purchase: The ladies who helped me seemed very pushy and not really about helping me find what I wanted. During my appointment they didnt even give me enough time to look through their selection and rushed me along (I was the only customer in the store). I ended up picking a dress off the rack after looking at a few of the dresses based on what I wanted. I tried it on and it fit like a glove so I ended up putting down a deposit.Today: I went to pick up the dress today and had a great experience. Elizabeth and Alexis helped me out. They werent pushy but gave me lots of recommendations about veil lengths to go with my gown etc. and hair styles. I had a great experience working with them today, and they make me want to return. They were knowledgeable about the dresses and what is timeless. I wish they were there when I picked out my dress back in Sept. it would have been a much more pleasurable experience. If you are looking for a knowledgeable consultant to assist you, please do yourself a favor and schedule yourself an appointment with Elizabeth.Be aware they are usually by appointment only.

So I went in today for a bridal gown. Akunna was nice and understanding that I had never done this (obviously). I have cerebral palsy and Akunna understood and helped me in and out of dresses, which was all great! However, as most brides do, I tried on so many dresses. I found one I loved. It was certainly a process, but I found one.Here is why I didnt buy from A Formal Affair.They dont allow photos.This may not seem like a big deal, but it was. To me, photos are necessary when you try on wedding dresses. To-be brides are trying on so many dresses, sometimes at different shops. Especially when a bride has 4 dresses of same/similar style, it is very hard to remember what one of the dresses looked like. I tried 12 dresses, and when I got home, I literally couldnt remember details of the dress I loved. Wedding dresses are NOT cheap, the one I was looking at was 1900, without alterations or hemming or sales taxes.There was no designer names on any of the tags, just the price and the style of the dress. I felt this was odd. I am not that brand conscious, so I didnt even notice until one of my bridesmaids pointed it out later. I again, feel this is important when buying a wedding dress because theyre an investment.My whole party felt very weird about these rules, soI left feeling very unsure about the business.Please allow photos to be taken. Please change that rule because your dresses are absolutely beautiful, but I just didnt feel right buying from you.

My daughter found her dress there! Great choices. The young woman who helped us was very nice and extremely helpful.

We made a dress shopping appointment only to show up with just one person in the store who was helping pick out prom dresses as other people kept walking in, while we waited for over 40 minutes unable to do anything without her assistance.I was promised an arrival date that was in plenty of time for my wedding, only to get it just two weeks before the wedding.A blessing in disguise: they either measured me horribly or ordered a size smaller than we asked for and wrote down, so it did not need altering as I barley fit in it and had to lose more weight. I was between a 2 and 4, so we ordered a size 4. I lost weight after being measured for the dress and it still BARELY fit when we got it.When trying to find out who my dress designer was plainly out of curiosity (I had already paid for the dress in full when I wondered who it was made by) they refused to give me any details, telling me that the store does not recognize any designer or keep any tags when they get dresses into the store.So when the dress barely fit, although we ordered a size UP, there was no proof of what the size of the dress actually was because there were no tags with a size or designer or manufacturer when I picked it up. Seems a bit sketchy.Lastly, we were not allowed to take any pictures while dress shopping. What fun is that? I have been dress shopping for friends weddings and was disappointed I didnt get to take those pictures.

Purchased a suit for a wedding. Arrive on time and fit well. That is why I gave them three stars. Their return policy was hard and fast by the books despite horrible weather in Atlanta and having to fight traffic. The person I spoke with was pleasant about the situation, but didnt care if I brought it back or not and was happy for me to pay a $50 late fee if I didnt return it despite the situation.

I had the fortunate experience of going to a formal affair on Holcomb bridge Rd, Roswell when I was pregnant and desperately needed a ball gown for an event. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Had some difficulty choosing a dress because of the vast array of beautiful clothes. I eventually chose a very lovely and timeless ball gown for an awesome price. I needed some adjustments because of my growing tummy and it was done without an extra charge.I love, love a Formal Affair and would totally go there again.

I have to tell you how impressed I am with the sales knowledge and the helpfulness that I had to write something. When I first walked into the store I noticed how elegant everything was. The atmosphere compared to other shops was just simply beautiful. I felt like a real bride, not like Davids or something. The prices were great too. I was immediately greeted and told the sales person my wedding date. The selection of dresses was wonderful. You must see for yourself!! It turned out that the dress I selected wouldnt arrive on time for the wedding. It was my dream dress! The sales person went out of her way to try and get the dress for me anyway. (takes 4-6 months to come in). She allowed me to purchase the sample dress. Since brides are required to use face shields, the sample dress was in excellent condition, without makeup on it. I not only found out I could get the alterations done there but I could do my bridesmaids and tuxedos there too. Not having to go from place to place made everything so EASY AND FUN. I enjoyed the staff, the atmosphere, quality and quantity of the gowns, everything. I had a great experience and definitely recommend this place to you if you are getting married. Thanks for a dream wedding!

Told my buddy a price for the tux as everyone was renting from here. For his wedding When we show up they added an extra fee which was not discussed IN ANY WAY WITH ANYONE. I had to ask the woman to tell me what amount she was putting on my card WHILE SHE WAS RUNNING IT.Have some respect for your customers Ill be back to return the tux and never again.

I have to write this as I am soOOO!! excited! My wedding was just 3 weeks away. My custom made dress was in pieces in my hands. The fit was awful, nothing looked right. I was absolutely shattered. A friend of my moms referred us to A Formal Affair. Oh my Gosh!! The lady that answered the phone was so understanding. I described to her what I wanted and the type of dress I had originally dreamt of. To my surprise she told me they had a similar sample hanging. My mom and I went over and the dress fit me perfectly. The seamstress even made a special trip for my first fitting!!I have to tell you guys, the warmth and caring I recieved there was unbelievable!! Called this place to get a price quote for a bridesmaid dress that I was very interested in. Im from North Carolina and Georgia was the closest place that sold the particular brand of bridesmaids dresses that I wanted. The associate on the phone told me they couldnt quote me a price. Im not driving 6 hours to come look at dresses without knowing the price. Sorry but you guys just lost out on whatever the price that the dress was times NINE! Me and my bridesmaids will drive to another state to get them.

My mom and I went first, and Akunna asked me all the necessary questions about the wedding and desired style and fit. She brought amazing gowns for me to try on and I found the one! I ordered the bridesmaids dresses for my wedding here, and my fiancé and grooms men’s tuxes. Molly helped us on both occasions and made the experiences extremely enjoyable.

My sister got her wedding dress here about four years ago. The selection is wonderful! They do a great job with everything! Even after such a long engagement they still worked with her with alternating the dress.

I was shopping for my bridal gown last Fall and shopped at two other places prior to finding A Formal Affair. I knew they were an appointment-only operation so I called right away and made my appointment. I tried on 12 dresses in the other shops and didnt find anything that suited my body. In just an hour here, I found my gown! Akunna and Marissa were so patient and kind during the fitting. It is EXTREMELY important to make the appointments so that they can designate the time accordingly, this shop is a boutique-size/style shop. My anxiety was relieved after finding the dress of my dreams on day one here. The only concerns I had were: 1) it is a very small shop, so it can be overwhelming for someone who doesnt do well in small spaces (like myself) and 2) I felt rushed on my 2nd and 3rd dress fitting which caused me to get a panic attack. Not the fault of the attendants, just the situation. Overall, such a great place! Highly recommend checking it out for your needs.

We picked out our daughters senior prom dress. What a great experience

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I went with my friend, my mother, her mother, another girl in the wedding party and the brides grandmother to look for my friends wedding dress. Our appointment was at 3, they said they were running behind so we decided to look around. We were rudely told we were not to look around and needed to sit down. When we finally were taken back at around 3:30 the consultant sat us down and asked questions about the wedding. With the exception of the venue, nothing else has been decided in terms of details of the wedding. The consultant made the bride, and all of the rest of us at that, feel extremely stupid and uncomfortable for not knowing any of the details. When the bride tried on dresses the whole situation was extremely uncomfortable. She didnt make any of us feel welcome. The bride found a dress she loved but wasnt 100% sold, she wanted to sleep on it and show it to a few other people. Thats not possible considering you cant take a single picture. Annoyed, we asked for the designer of the dress to look at pictures online and she refused to tell us. Overall it was a terrible experience and if you are bride, definitely dont waste your time here.

I went in with a dress I wanted in mind for a trunk show. although the Dress wound up not being able to be ordered this was not my issue with this bridal salon at all. I specifically told her what I wanted in a dress and instead of looking and helping me she told me I might have to compromise because that dress didnt exist. She was also trying to clip me up with binder clips which kept falling and slipping I looked awful in every dress I tried on because the clips werent placed correctly. I have been to a few salons with friends and have never seen binder clips used to pin up a dress, now I know why. After trying a few dresses my consultant brought me a dress I thought I tried on in another store. So I asked her what designer it was. She said she could not tell me. I agreed to try it on and thought I would just look at the tag when I was alone in the dressing room. But I soon discovered the price tag had been removed as well as the designer label cut Out of the dress. Im not sure but I think that if the designers knew there dresses were being defaced they would be upset. I felt extremely pushed to buy that day and overall this was not a plesent experience for me. The consultant also informed me that I would have to pay for the Dress in full before they ordered it. After my experience with this store I would not recommend it to anyone. Skip it and go to Charm or I do I do in Athens much better experience at both and better hemming prices and less pushy and more helpful consultants

Went in looking for bridesmaid dresses for a wedding party of 5. They had me wait just so someone can tell me their bridesmaids dresses are just for their brides. You would think they would want some money over no money. She didnt even ask if I had a dress yet to become one of their brides. The sad thing is I was looking at making this my formal how shop since I have 6 formals out the year at minimum. But not after that experience.

Linda was an amazing help to me and make sure that I had everything that I needed. She had made my experience worth the long process and went above and beyond to make sure I knew all my options. They have great options in terms of wedding dress and accessories.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE and management was unapologetic! Ordered my bridesmaid dress in March/April and received a dress 3 days ago on the 12th of September and the wedding is the 28th. Took 5+ MONTHS to get to me and that was after the bride calling SEVERAL times “hunting” down the dress! Not to mention the dress I received wasn’t even my dress (she sent me another persons dress) but never once apologized to me. Akunna was very rude and treated it as if I was bothering her. So, I had to take time out of my day and go through the process of overnighting the dress to who it belonged to while trying to get them to pay the fee to overnight it. It has been excuse, after excuse, after excuse with them! I understand mistakes happen, but I feel as though the company should own up to their mistakes, be apologetic, and willing to help any way possible to make things right ESPECIALLY when I am just now receiving the dress with 2 weeks until the wedding! Now I have to rush to find someone to alter my dress and pay rush fees! Very frustrating!!!! I hate that I was made to feel like an inconvenience because they made a mistake!

My experience with Maris was a dream. From the moment I walked in the door, everyone was very professional and helpful. I drove four hours to get to a formal affair and am thrilled that I did because I found the dress of my dreams. Thank you Maris for making the entire experience fun and memorable.

I have to write this as my sister and I are so excited..she flew in from Jamaica so as to find the perfect dress for her big day.After shopping around for some days we finally found the right place..,A Formal Affair.It was a OMG moment once we stepped inside - great selections excellent customer service, very brilliant staff who knows exactly what wedding is all about.Linda was absolutely amazing.we found the perfect dresses a bride could ever dream of; excellent service was very impressed couldnt have been better.... I initially reviewed 5 stars and have updated it post-wedding.TLDR: nice until they made a mistake (dress too short), and then made it incredibly difficult to fix it and blamed everyone else (including me). I still have not received a refund for the hollow to hem fee or replacement material to lengthen the dress and my wedding is only 5 weeks away.At first I was thrilled with A Formal Affair; they had a dress I couldn’t find anywhere else and they were so kind.  They offered me a “hollow to hem,” meaning the dress would be hemmed in factory, for $200, which they claimed would save me money on tailoring.  Not knowing better, I agreed, and they measured me for flat shoes.The dress came in an inch or two too short.  Immediately I let them know and asked for extra lace to fix it and the $200 back, to cover the cost of fixing it.  This started literally months of back-and-forth.  First they needed extremely specific photos – so specific that I had to take two trips to my tailor to get it right, and then they demanded a video call.  They were calling me frequently, insisting that I had to get the photos right away.  I asked why and they said that altering would shorten the dress.  But they never warned me of that when I ordered a dress for flat shoes!Eventually – weeks after I received the dress – they were happy with the photos, but said they couldn’t get me extra lace by the time my tailor wanted it, because the lace had to be hand made.  They refused to give me the $200 back, claiming policy was they had to try to get me a replacement dress first.  I asked how they could guarantee me a replacement dress in time if they couldn’t even get me replacement lace, and they had no answer.  They asked me to send them back the dress and promised me a new one, but refused to give me a date that I would receive it.  At this point we were about three months out from the wedding, and my tailor said she needed to start the tailoring.  I told them I couldn’t send them the dress without a guaranteed date; there wasn’t enough time.  They tried to blame my tailor for not being good enough – but she is one of the best in the city.At that point I was so stressed because my tailor was telling me she would have to cut into the train to get enough lace to make the dress long enou

I didnt realize the store is half prom, half bridal. The bridal dresses all felt very cheap, and the one dress my consultant (Adonna) picked for me was WAY off base. I tried on two dresses and she said, let just do one more. VERY dismissive. I was only in the store 40 minutes. I would avoid this place all together.

If I could give 0 stars I would!I had made an appointment 3 weeks prior at a bridal show and had taken off work and cancelled another appointment since, they would have overlapped to make this appointment.1st of all, I get to my appointment and no one was up front to welcome me so, I just went ahead and signed in. When someone came up, they just threw a clipboard with a form and asked me to fill out and then walked away. When she came back 15 minutes later to pick-up the form where we were sitting...she asked if I was another person AMY. I said no and gave my name, she said they called me the day before and since, I never answered that they cancelled my appointment. I asked which number since, I never received a call. She gave my number but, I never received a call. I also, asked which number they would have called from and showed her my call history showing that I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL, EMAIL, TEXT OR ANY FORM OF CONTACTING ME! Who doesnt contact an appointment and cancels there appointment without approval from the potential purchaser. Once, they realized they double booked the appointment with someone who made the appointment the day before, they called to make sure the other person was coming in rather then handling me, that had an appointment already and was there to spend money at there store. (BAD PRACTICE). They asked if I would come in at 4pm...I was like NO and that would also, make the other persons time shorter...which means I would have probably had to wait. To say this was a bad experience is saying it nicely. At least I found out how AWFUL THIS WAS BEFORE I SPENT HARD EARNED MONEY ON A PLACE THAT DOESNT CARE ABOUT YOU!!!Also, very rude, since we had to wait about 20 minutes, we started looking at some dresses and was RUDELY SCOLDED THAT WE HAD TO SIT DOWN.After my appointment with another, great wedding salon, got a call from the manager of Formal Affair...trying to apologized for the miscommunication but, blaming me for everything...told her that I had nothing to say and found another place to purchase my dress. SERIOUSLY...HOW IS THIS MY FAULT THAT YOU CANCELLED MY APPOINTMENT WITHOUT ANY CONTACT AND THEN SO RUDELY TREATED ME.If you need a place to go in this area, please go to Treasures Formal and Bridal in Alpharetta...I called them after and didnt have an appointment and they made room to take me that day and made my awful experience with Formal and great experience with them!

Horrible. They sold me a prom dress that in two dry cleaners experience had been worn heavily in perhaps a fashion show. I saw one stain in store and they offered a discount saying it would cover the cost of cleaning When I got to dry cleaner and we took dress out of bag we noticed several oil based stains. I called the store immediately (less than two hours after leaving store) and they basically said dont bother coming back all sales final. I WAS a repeat customer. The owner would never call me back or deal with me directly. Poor service and a shady owner. Stay away

I found my perfect dress at A Formal Affair and it is all thanks to Akunna. I went to A Formal Affair with my sister after not finding any options at a previous store. Upon walking into the boutique Akunna was ready for me even though I was there a bit before my appointment. She first sat down with me to talk about what I was thinking for my wedding dress, I think she quickly learned I wasn’t entirely certain. She then walked me through the store and asked me my thoughts on different dresses to narrow down what we were looking for. As I began to try on dresses Akunna was very good at calming my nerves and laughing with me as I tried on dress after dress. She did an excellent job pushing me to give her feedback after each dress as to what I liked/didn’t like about it so she could find the next dress that might be THE dress. She even let me Facetime with my parents who live in Minnesota so they could see it and give their feedback before buying a dress. Finally, I found it, the dress that was elegant and glamourous and perfect!I cannot say enough good things about Akunna and the staff at A Formal Affair, they were always there to answer my calls and questions. And the highlight for all us I think was when we were a month out from the wedding my dress was supposed to have arrived and when Akunna called the manufacturer we found out to do a weather disaster in the area where the manufacturer was located the dress had not been shipped! Of course I was very concerned as was Akunna, however, she did everything to keep me calm and to ensure me I would have my dress for the wedding. When it became clear the dress would likely not arrive in time Akunna gave me the dress that was in the shop. The dress in the store was about eight sizes too large for me, so she offered to pay for all of the alterations and the dress preservation afterwards to make it right. I was initially concerned that the due to all of the intricate lace and beading that taking it in that much would change the look of the dress but she assured me that the seamstress was the best and it would be perfect. She even drove over to the Alterations shop with me and my mom on a Saturday to ensure that the seamstress understood everything I was looking for. In the end she was right, the dress was absolutely PERFECT and I could not have asked for a better experience. Thank you so much to A Formal Affair and Akunna as I felt like a princess on my wedding day and had so many compliments on how amazing my dress was. If you are looking for your wedding dress you absolutely must go to A Formal Affair!
