We were extremely pleased with all aspects of Farmer Auctions. The staff was friendly and caring during our difficult time. They treated the home and items with great respect. Mr. Hines keeps everything very organized, from the cataloging of the items to the pick up of the items. We were very pleased with the money our items brought and the quick payment to us. I would not hesitate to use their services in the future. Top notch.
Jarrod and his colleagues did a sale of my late husband’s collection. They did a terrific job. His staff could not have been more kind and helpful. They were able to catalogue many things and stage them for a sale without any inconvenience to me. I am very pleased with the result of my sale and experience at Farmer’s.
Recently we picked up several items we had bought in an online auction. The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We were very impressed!
Farmer Auctions is an amazing, awesome online auction company. We were familiar with Farmer Auctions as biddersnon their online auctions. Now Tharp we were the sellers, my husband and I could not be more pleased. Every aspect of our experience was absolutely perfect. The owner, Jarrod Hines, is a consummate professional, as is everyone else on his staff. The folks who spent several days cataloguing our items were always respectful and worked very hard to make the auction a big success. The photos they took were super well done and really helped potential buyers see what they were bidding on. We really hope to work with them again, and we highly recommend Farmer Auctions to anyone who has need of their services. They are the best!!!
From the first email, everyone was so nice and helpful. I worried about how to disperse my mothers lifetime collection. The teams combined knowledge of antiques and collectibles really helped to make the auction catalog informative. The ability to reach bidders around the country was wonderful. Everything was professionally handled from cataloging to removal. All of this together made the auction very succesful. My mother would be very pleased. I am very pleased.
Kudos, Jarrod and staff!!! I can’t thank you enough for the fine job you’ve done. I was hesitant at first of the online auction process but after a step by step explanation, it was the way to go and everything sold successfully. The entire process from start to finish was only about 4 weeks. I’m grateful for your time and expertise!
Jarrod Hines and his team were a pleasure to work with. After having a bad experience with another Estate Sale company in Roanoke, they came to our rescue. Our on line auction was conducted in a professional and timely manner. I highly recommend Farmers Auction, Jarrod will take care of you!!
I have been buying through Farmer auctions for a few years now and can say, without a doubt, that I have found some amazing art, curious pieces, and hard to find antiques and collectibles without ever leaving my home!In particular, during this pandemic, I have truly enjoyed the fun and excitement of bidding online, passing the time of lockdown with things to look forward to!There’s something for everyone from high end to low end.The people who catalog the items do a fantastic job of informing and providing accurate descriptions. The web site itself is very user friendly and easy to use.Five Stars!
Auction and sign up was easy enough. Shipping was outrageous. 37 dollars to ship a dollar bill (silver certificate) that cost 18 dollars. Fool me once...........
Jarrod and his staff exceeded my expectations by 500%. The amazing attention to detail, knowledge, respect and sensitivity they showed during a difficult time made the entire process so much easier. I cannot say enough about their integrity, professionalism and work ethic. As an antique dealer for 35 years, I know that I made the right choice by selecting Farmers Auctions for my parents personal, business and real estate liquidation. They are a tremendous team and I am very grateful for the assistance rendered. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE AT FARMERS!
I engaged Farmer Auctions to empty a house my great-great grandfather built. It has been continuously occupied for over 100 years (read - it was packed). I do not live near the house, and was not able to work on this project myself. Farmer Auctions did an excellent job sorting and evaluating all the items in the house and in an adjacent dependency. Farmer Auction experts were very skilled at creating lots, and displaying, describing and photographing each item. From them, I learned the importance of marketing a sale. They did an outstanding job positioning the sale and using social media, netting bidders in 11 different states. I recommend Farmer Auctions to anyone who needs to empty a house, particularly those who have limited time and need a turn key job.
The ABSOLUTE BEST auction co to deal with! I am a buyer and their pick ups are so streamlined and they are so accommodating!!! I LOVE THEM!!! Here’s to many more purchases!
I had spoken with other auction companies before calling Farmer Auctions. Jarrod Hines Owner/President of Farmer came to the house and from that meeting I knew I was dealing with professionals who had my best interest at heart. The marketing plan he laid out including the appraisal process to maxamise value of our life long collection went to limits beyond what any other company discussed. Talk is one thing delivery is another and I can attest to the fact that Farmer Auctions delivered on their promise. As the process unfolded from appraisals to marketing and finally the auction and aftermath including how the collection was distributed to the customers went like clockwork. The check for the proceeds exceeded my expectations and came within ten days. If you are considering an auction look no further than Farmer.Sincerely, Bill Palmer
Absolutely love the staff and this auction house. I’ve never been treated badly and have been to many of their auctions. Would highly recommend them to sellers and buyers. Their descriptions are spot on. They have been more than willing to help with bigger items and are pleasant to talk to. Great group of people. Thanks for being a fair and well run auction house. They are becoming harder and harder to come by. Looking forward to your future auctions and using your services soon as we have accumulated too much lol. Thanks guys
Professional and courteous! My father was a bit of a hoarder and I would never have been able to sort out and value all of his personal property alone. Farmer Auctions took care of everything! Their staff was professional, efficient and courteous. I will definitely use them in the future.
This is an Awesome company!! They have some wonderful employees. Everything that I have bought from them has been exactly how it was described in the details. Other auction houses arent as knowledgeable about their items like the staff for Farmer Auctions. These people do their research on their items. I have had some health problems and they have been extremely kind. Kassie is just the sweetest young lady and very pleasant to talk with on the phone. Dan is another employee that is always very kind and helpful. These two are the employees that I have had the most interactions. Jarrod is also very nice. I recommend this establishment to everyone! They are honest and are just good people all around.
Farmers Auctions exceeded my expectaions by 500%! Jarrod and his staff ( Araby, John, Calli, Sandy )assisted in making a challenging and emotional time in my life a much more managable time. The professionalism, knowledge, technical aspects, marketing, preparation, discovery and end result were so appreciative and rewarding!!!! I am so impressed by the demeanor of every person that was in my parents home that handled their belongings. All aspects were handled with respect, care and a genuine care for all items in Moms home. I highly recommend, without any reservation, this group to handle any estate, whether large or small including selling of the actual real estate property. Fantastic job with exceedingly great results,
Recently bid and won a gun safe listed in excellant condition. At pick up we were told it had no keys. When asked about this the owner stated oh well I did not misrepresent since I did not say it had keys. In my book he did....... the word safe is defined as being free from harm or risk. Safe with no keys becomes a cabinet in my book. But I guess he needs the money. I am pretty sure Ken farmer didnt do shady deals as such. The owner has stated several times hes tries to resolve any issue, wonder why he never tried to resolve mine. Never apologized or even offer a discount. How do you pick who you are willing to work with and who you choose to ignore. I hope this will make people stop and think before using this auction house
We have been customers for many years. In fact, Jarrod and his team are one of our favorite auction houses. They do a great job photographing auction items and including size info. Always appreciate the preview option that is offered. Looking forward to the next treasure hunt...
Farmer conducted an online auction of household belongings from our mother’s estate. Our interactions with Farmer personnel were outstanding. I was highly impressed by their curtesy and efficiency. The entire auction process was well organized and produced a result well within the range of our expectations. We were entirely satisfied with the service and would use Farmer again should the need arise.
Farmer Auctions did an excellent job recently liquidating the remainder of my mothers estate as she relocated from Roanoke to San Antonio. Jarrod and his staff are very professional and experts at what they do. Everything was accomplished as agreed. Our original schedule for selling the house was accelerated and Jarrod adjusted his schedule to make everything happen. Thank you Jarrod and Farmers Auction!
I have participated in their auctions quite a few times. I have had several items broken or cracked each time, but I tend not to say anything if most of the items are fine. This time five of the items were chipped or broken and none of them were described with faults. I brought this to the owner, Jarrods, attention at the pickup . Jarrod said that he would reimburse me for the lot, so I left the items behind. I waited seven days, but no refund. I have since spoken to his assistant, Sandy, twice and sent three emails to Jarrod (twice through the email that Sandy provided and once through the contact us on their website. I have received no response or refund for almost four weeks now. The organization is not accredited with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and has a couple of complaints filed on them. I believe they would have many more if customers actually pursued this route. I am very disappointed and wish that I would have figured this out much sooner before I had bid on so many auctions.
Jarrod recently help our family with downsizing and selling of the home. His team was professional and courteous. He explained the services and excuted the plan on time. He sold the home in less than a week. I would highly recommend them. When overwhelmed with all the stuff this team is a blessing!
I have been to many Farmer auctions over the years, always professional and well organized.
Jared & staff I can’t thank you enough for the wonderful job you all did for my family. It’s been a year since we moved & at that time I was overwhelmed with the amount of stuff we had accumulated over the years. Thanks to your company it was almost painless.Seven dumpsters & a lot of work on your part we had a great final outcome Thanks so much,Barb
I have no experience with auctions-buying or selling. The thought of trying to do something with my parents household was emotional and overwhelming. I spoke with several auction companies and was not impressed. Most were pushy and unprofessional. After calling Farmers Auctions, I knew within 1 minute that these guys were very professional. Jarrod and his team took care of everything. They kept me updated throughout the entire process. They went through the entire house-every drawer, closet, the basement and attic. All the anxiety was gone and I was so relieved and satisfied. These guys must be called before you choose an auction company.
We want to THANK YOU for coming to our rescue!!! We knew nothing about the concept of Internet Auctions and when you explained the process to us we knew this was the way to move forward. We felt we would find new homes for our collection of travel treasures, our parents treasures and other items for making life easier and fun!! Little did we realize that we would ask you and your staff to help us navigate through some unexpected hospitalization and recovery. All went very smooth,THANKS due to your willingness to be flexible and understanding during that time.We want to thank your staff that sorted, documented, labeled, took photos of all the items for the auction. Everyone was so professional, polite, helpful, understanding and patient! We want to give a special shout out to Shell who went above and beyond helping me face all the things I was juggling at the time and doing such a fantastic job. It was a pleasure having her stay with us!No doubt in our minds, we picked the right company to work with for the auction. We highly recommend FARMERS AUCTION and have already begun to refer you to others. The Moneta Sommerss March 2019
Would not recommend. Farmers was contracted to sell the contents of my Dads house as he was moving to a retirement home. Be certain to read the contract thoroughly as what you hear may not agree with what you read. In the end he received under half what Farmers took in. They left the house in shambles. There was theft from the property and damage to a fence that they took no responsibility for. This was a very unfortunate experience.
What an enjoyable experience! Will Farmer goes the extra mile to find unique collections, beautiful jewelry, quality furniture and amazing art. The auctions are always a fun experience and his experienced staff is exceptional. I was lucky enough to walk away with an entire bedroom set at an unbelievable price the last time I was there. The craftsmanship is something you can’t find at most furniture stores today. Everyone asks where I find my treasures. The secret is out… I love Farmer Auctions and I will never pay retail again!
After posting this comment The Packaging Store contacted me by email and stated they had made an error in the shipping charges and will credit my cc $30. I received the coin and was very pleased with its condition. The price I paid at the auction was more than fair for this coin and the packaging was very good. Thank you Rick at The Packaging Store.Beware of this auction! They do not ship your items. You are responsible for shipping and handling. It cost me $44.02 to have a $299 coin shipped from their recommended shipper, The Packaging Store. When asked how much prior to shipping they said “I don’t know”. Shame on me but this auction and shipper is a rip-off.
Mr. Farmer needs to revisit Service 101. I am saddened to think this firm has lessened its appeal to the public with poor service skills in a considerably high service industry. To the staff of the entire Farmer empire, I recommend a set down with the Chief and discuss the consequences of his actions and reactions to customers past and present. As a business proprietor, I am apologetic that I was not deserving of even a follow-up call after kens initial visit. If you are in search of an auction firm providing excellent customer care, I do not recommend this one.
Appalling service and rude female member of staff. This was our experience with this auction house. First, they took the money from our card without prior consent. They obtained our bank details from the website we used to bid on the auction without consent. No emails from the auction house to notify us of this or any apology given, they took the money straight away after the auction ended. The woman we exchanged emails with was evasive, patronising, unhelpful and rude. She refused to cancel the purchase after they wanted to charge $125 to ship a miniature; as a result of this they have our paid purchase and our money, we will be taking further action. I do not recommend this auction house to anyone, this is daylight robbery. Avoid at all costs these pirates!
ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE, DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS AUCTION HOUSE. BUYERS BEWARE!I purchased a pair of vintage 11 inch dolls at one of their auctions online. I emailed them for a shipping quote and they fobbed me off with a third party shipping company that turned out to be the same man working as part of their in-house staff. The shipper took 1 week to reply with a quote, he then asked for an astronomical shipping cost of over $200 !! No way I would have spent over $200 in shipping for a $85 purchase so I emailed the auction house and asked if it was possible to have the dolls sent via USPS tracked from their auction house, their answer was no and they refused to post my items or offer me another shipping quote. What a scam! I asked for my money back since I did not agree to their extortionate shipping cost and they refused to refund my money ! In the end I lost my money and my two paid dolls. This must be the most disgusting auction house I have had the misfortune to buy from. They behaved like a bunch of thieves and liars, so be very careful if you decide to buy from any of their auctions.
To All Members of the General Public,Good evening, this is Jarrod Hines, proud owner of Farmer Auctions. I felt it my duty to the company that I and my staff have worked so very hard to build to respond to this post immediately before it acted to compromise our reputation with the general public. My family has been active in the auction industry for FIVE generations, and claims such as the one’s made by Mr. Keene in the post, simply cannot be ignored. Auctioneering is a profession for us, NOT a hobby. In 2018 alone, my firm conducted 75 auctions for clients as far west as Central City, Kentucky, as far south as Henderson, NC, as far north as Charleston, WV, and as far east as Clarksville, VA. The demand for our services is a direct result of our commitment to serving our clients ethically and professionally and I have an anthology of testimonials from our MANY satisfied clients that speak to their satisfaction with our services. I can assure you that if my company operated in the manner in which Mr. Keene described, we would most certainly NOT be conducting 75 or more auctions on an annual basis. I ask you to very carefully consider that point. On the RARE occasion that we have a misunderstanding or miscommunication with a client, we try very hard to work in partnership, in a rational manner with that client to bring clarity and resolution to the situation. We are certainly not infallible and above reproach, and we do sometimes make mistakes. However, Mr. Keene has elected to use social media to post false, accusatory, and unsubstantiated claims against my company, and has unfortunately forced me to defend my company on a public forum, which I am perfectly capable of, and proud to do.I will also state for the record, in defense of my company, that senior citizens, such as Mr. Keene, are regular clients of my company and handled with the utmost care. We have the utmost respect for the elder population of our local community and their role in the building of this nation. To that effect, we are ALSO very cautious in our dealings with senior citizens to ensure that there are no misunderstandings or uncertainties. If we have even the SLIGHTEST inclination that the client doesn’t understand the process or the contract language, we IMMEDIATELY stop, and attempt to reach out to any children or next of kin the client may have. In the case of Mr. Keene, neither my colleague nor I had any cause to doubt Mr. Keene’s ability to understand the auction process or the associated contract language, therefore we did not contact his son Doug, who assisted Mr. Keene in posting his displeasure with our company on Google. I have since spoken to Doug and expressed these very points to him, to which he offered that his father is likely mentally sharper than he is and that there would have been no reason to have included him in the negotiations. In short, I take vehement offense to ANY insinuation that we make a living by taking advantage of the senior members of our community. I grew up having close meaningful relationships with two full sets of grandparents, two great-grandmothers, eight great uncles and ten great aunts. I am fully and intimately aware of the Greatest Generation’s contributions to our country and I will not stand idly by and be accused of any predatory actions upon senior citizens.Mr. Keeen’s claims are so vitriolic, ridiculous and unsubstantiated, that I am having difficulty deciding which claim to address first. For the sake of clarity for the reader, I will address them in the order they are listed in Mr. Keene’s post.
Very accommodating and friendly. Their pieces are quality. I intend on being a repeat customer. Thank you Farmers!
I find their online bid site either flawed or fraudulent. Out of the 32 items I won at an auction in April, 7 I had never bid on. As I was the only bid, and these items were junk, I think they may have just added a few items to my cart.
I had an issue with a erroneous description. After thorough discussion we reached resolution.
Buyer beware - they dont list an obvious reproduction as a reproduction
I have called and left messages twice, yet to receive a return call, rude!
Awful auction house. Terrible service. Beware!
