I found this place by accident. I was at the lake and having trouble with my boat. A guy offered to help me, twice! As it turns out, the guy is a mechanic at A-Rock, his name is Ty. He obviously knew what he was doing.When I got back to town I started doing some research on A-Rock. What I found led me to make an appointment to take my boat in to their shop.I havent taken the boat out yet but the experience was on par with what Id expected from them. I had high expectations after what Id found in my research.Ill never take my boat to the other guys again. They are my boat shop now and Ive referred a few of my friends already. And it all started because of a guy they employ named Ty.

The quality of work is top notch. It appears their prices have recently increased based on the quote I got yesterday. Friendly staff and a decent variety in stock.

First time we have been there. They were very helpful and told us some things to check. Will let you know how well they do their job. Well we have had the boat out several times and it runs awesome!! We will definitely use them again. Thanks Scott.

We had a problem with IBoats.com when they sent us a prop with the wrong rotation. IBoats would not exchange or refund. It seems from reading IBoats reviews - they do this alot. Arock offered us a deal to purchase another prop. We are out $336.00 but at least we got what we needed for less. Thanks Arock! Your service and empathy in this situation was appropriated. We will use your business that we can trust to be Fair and honest.

Todd at ARock stayed late to help us save a family vacation when the boat outdrive locked up and wouldn’t go in gear. He helped source parts and get us on the road. I would recommend using these guys whenever you have boat troubles.

This is the best boat repair place in town. They rebuilt the out drive on my boat serviced and tuned up the boat within a few days. Pricing and service here is great. Sometimes there may be a wait to get an appointment but it’s always worth the wait. Good honest people.

I have a boat with a 2 stroke outboard that other places wouldnt look at. A-rock didnt have an issue working on it. Since it was the middle of boating season. It took a while to get the boat in for repair. The service was great and the prices were reasonable. I recommend this place for boat repairs.

Just dropped $275 on Thursday for our trolling motor, they said it would start 1st pull, carb cleaned adjusted, would work like a charm. In the middle of Strawberry reservoir and it doesnt turn over, doesnt even fire. NOT impressed.

Fixed my 1995 Johnson 150hp! One of the few remaining boat mechanics willing to work on older motors. They were quick to diagnose and efficient with the repair. Mitch went above and beyond by walking me through the repairs, answered all of my questions and provided me with some boat maintenance tips. I appreciate good, honest work and this place does just that!

One of the only shops I could find that would work on my 1985 Mercury tiller motor. They diagnosed the problem quick and had it repaired much faster than I expected. The quality of work is top notch and I am glad I found them. Will be using them for all my marine needs from here on out.

Super knowledgeable staff and much better pricing than I have seen elsewhere. The way they can fix items rather than suggesting replacing them right away like other shops do is great also. Their main showroom has a ton of great accessories that make it a one stop shop.

Do not use this place, Scott the owner is a crook. Had him rebuild to motors for me. Never have they ran, stole my carbs, replaced one of the motors with a diffren motor that wasnt even rebuilt. Called him on it he freaked out. Did carpet in his house met his family, he is a true snake be careful you will get bit if you do business with this company.

April 2016. I took a boat in that I was interested in buying that hadnt been started for about 3 years. Brad took the time to answer questions and found out the gas primer on the switch was not working, he ordered another switch and corrected an electrical short. Starts great now. Found a new boat wanted a mechanic to go through it before purchasing it. A- rock was suppose to go through the motor and boat and let me know if it checks out. They gave me the ok, so we bought the boat. Next day in Lake Powell it left us stranded. I called them and described the problem to help me figure out the issue is in hopes to fix it in Page AZ. All they would say is youll have to bring it in for us to look at it again. Very little assistance in a time of need. Not a very through check of the boat before purchase. I didnt have a good experience with A- Rock and had very poor follow up from them.

Very knowledgeable. Cheapest oil change I have ever gotten on my boat. I purchased a propeller from A Rock after being allowed to try two out. They are the best to work with. Highly recommended.They do way more than just propellers. They can do everything for your boat.

I cant say my experience with A-Rock Propeller was a good one. I was recommended by an employee at a marina at Strawberry, I will not name names because I dont want to embarrass anyone at Strawberry, who told me this was the place for quality work and customer service. My outboard motor was acting up so I called A-Rock, made an appointment, and took it in for repair. I put my faith in their work, so I didnt start the boat or make sure everything was taken care of, paid my bill, and took my boat back up to Strawberry. I put the boat in the water and it would not start. It started before I took it in for repair. My wife and I tried and tried to get it started but to no avail. Some of the campground and marina employees tried to help us get it started but it would not start. I took the boat out of the water and drove it back to Salt Lake. 180 mile round trip, $70 in gas. I called A-Rock and they told me to bring it back. I brought it back, left it, and on my way to an appointment, about 20 minutes after I left the boat with them, Brad the owner called and said the boat started right up. Now how can that be? I went back to A-Rock and Brad started the boat. He had a ton of reasons why it might have given me problems. Why wasnt I advised before I picked up the boat the first time that these issues might occur? One thing I noticed was that the engine cover had been removed. Why did they have to look inside the engine cover if there wasnt any problem to correct or investigate.I dont have any answers but I will say this, Brad could have cared less if I was inconvenienced in any way, nor was he empathetic to the fact that my day was wasted or I took that boat for a 180 mile trip. When I hooked up the boat for the 2nd time to leave A-Rock, Brad had just left me there making me feel like a complete fool. Customer service doesnt exist there. I havent had a chance to get the boat back in the water nor have I tried to start it since I left A-Rock. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!

They had no idea, even asked several service technicians. 1/4 mile down the road they new how to fix the boat maybe hope been driving to vegas

I came there as a new boat owner trying to buy a used motor for a small boat. I bought not one but two motors that I never even got a day of use out of. I paid $450 for the first motor I bought and when I brought it back to traded in they gave me an older motor that was lower horse power and told me that it cost more and they were upgrading me(which was absolutely not true). Then when I took that motor out it refused to start. I had a $50 bill in my hand and had at least 10 different boat owners at the dock try to help me get it started and they all said it was a bad motor. When I tried to return my second bad motor I was verbally assaulted by an aggressive man named Scott. He proceeded to call me a retard and say that I hadnt no idea what I was doing and had no business owning a boat. I told him all I wanted was to return everything I had bought from them get a full refund. He freaked out and told me I could see him in court. I tried to be calm and tell him that I just wanted my money and to leave. He was finally calmed down by a lady that was there long enough to write me a check. As I was leaving I told him that I was going to leave this bad review and he basically jumped over the counter and came running at me. I got into my car and he came flying out of the door and pounded on my window. Telling me he was going to cancel the check unless I agreed to not leave a bad review. I told him no and I drove away to deposit the check into my bank account. Two days later I got a notice from my bank that said the check had been canceled. That is when I called my lawyer and got the necessary advice I needed. I called down there and spoke with the woman that calmed him down when I was in there before. She said he had intentionally canceled the check and that if I agreed to not put a bad post about their company that she would refund my money. I told her that she had the product and the money and if I did not get one of them back I would be proceeding forward with legal action. She knew she had no legs to stand on and refunded me through their credit card machine. In summation this is by far the worst retail experience I have ever had in my entire life. Scott is a dangerous man and should not be doing anything with the public. I have another friend that bought a propeller from them and it was the wrong pitch and completely ruined his motor so I am not the only one that has had problems with these people. Please save yourself the trouble and do not shop with them. There are much better marine shops in Salt Lake that are happy to help new people and answer any questions with patience and kindness.

Went here for a throttle and shift cables, the staff was very knowledgeable and helped me out getting the right parts. Boat shifts silky smooth and the parts came in a very timely manner. Will use them again for whatever the boat needs in the future.

Fantastic Service and Attention to Detail.I came in just before close on a Friday Night to find some specific Hydrolic Hose fittings. I had been to 4 other shops looking for the same fittings. Scott took time to make sure I had what I needed when other shops could have cared less. Thanks Scott for great service and helping the lessor customer!

I don’t usually leave reviews, but after my experience with A Rock I felt I needed to. I hit a sandbar memorial weekend and it wiped out my outdrive and all kinds of stuff. I have dealt with previous boat repair shops and have always left with a bad taste in my mouth. I read every review on every boat shop in Utah and finally decided to take my boat to A Rock. Liz has given me the best customer service I have had in a long time, backed up by Brad and Scott they have an amazing family team and they had a quote to my insurance company the day after I dropped it off! They dealt with my insurance company and had parts ordered and installed within a week of me dropping it off and in the middle of July (while every other boat shop is 2 months booked out!). It has been the absolute best experience I have had with a boat shop as long as I have owned a boat! So....I borrowed a friends boat and took it to Powell. Bad storm and you can all guess what happened. Im a female and know nothing about boats! I thought i would need to replace the gear case with a new one. I called and they said I would probably just need a rebuilt. After they actually looked at it come to find out it just needed to be repaired. They are so honest!!! They could have totally taken advantage of me and my need to take care of a friend. They did an excellent job as well!

Their service is timely and reasonable and they still work on my old boat.

They told me they could fix the winch on my trailer... my boat weighs 6000 pounds - they replace the winch with one that had a 2000 pound limit. Boat broke loose from the trailer, snapped that winch right off. These guys are unprofessional and take risks with people’s lives. DO NOT USE THEM... they ignore emails and phone calls too.This isn’t a warranty issue - this is a negligent issue... your “tech” put the wrong winch on and the weight of the boat snapped the winch off. I am lucky the boat didn’t fall off the trailer on I80 and kill someone

I was looking for a water pump for an old Chrysler 130 HP outboard motor. I went to several places who were not able to help me and was actually treated very rudely at one place, I then stumbled on A-ROCK where I was greeted by a lady who I swear to god seems to know everything (not sarcastic) who within 1 1/2 minutes had the part sitting right there on the counter in front of me. and had all the information I needed. When I need more boating accessories they are going to be my go-to first place.

Excellent. I have taken my old tin tub to A-rock a couple of times and they have always done a great job. I had to get the boat welded this time and they called to tell me what was going on with boat and explained different options. This was very helpful. I didnt have to keep calling them to see when it would be done, they called to tell me when the work was completed.

Nobody had done better or stood behind the work they do like these guys. Most people in Utah are so focusd on the price instead of quality of work that they forget the old you get what you pay for and with these guys you do get what you pay for. Thank you Brad and Scott for keeping my Fountain in tip top condition. Boats arent cheap to own but you guys keep the costs in line. Highly Recomended!!

Every thing I needed to ask they have the answer. Everything I needed repaired was done right the first time never had to bring it back. They know there stuff will never go anywhere else. Just a great group of people that work really hard for you

Avoid this shop. Spent thousands to rebuild engine. Not only will the boat not run under load they forgot to put the fill screw back in lower unit which ruined my out drive. The Rebuilt engine has severe compression issues after 15 hours of run time. Going on 2 years without a boat because of their very poor work.

They know their business. Very qualified in outboard motors and how to keep them moving through the water.
