Nice and friendly local acoustic musical instruments business. Very pleased with my purchase.
Cool little local shop. Very helpful staff and a charming little shop.
In SLC visiting from Nashville,Tn. Happened into this place and had a fantastic time. If I lived here I would be a regular. Left feeling like we’d made new friends and been blessed to play some great instruments. Staff is above and beyond awesome. Other customers were friendly and fun to chat with as well. Really great vibe… and they also sell instruments. 😀
This is an awesome shop that I will now be giving all of my business to. They worked on two of my Martin guitars and did an excellent job. Super helpful and friendly staff too. I can’t recommend them enough!
Im really happy with this place. They actually have a good selection in stock. Most other big box stores have been picked clean of any side by side playable selections from the pandemic buying of guitars. The owner and staff were very helpful in selecting a good buy. I cant wait to buy my next guitar.
Fantastic store, great selection of acoustic guitars, ukuleles, banjos (and more) and incredible service. Meg was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. I ended up picking up a used GS mini-e Koa plus, and she even gave my kids a shaker each for the car ride out (which they loved)! Will be back when next through Salt Lake City! Thanks again!
This place is so great for many reasons. The owner is so nice, and she makes huge efforts to support local music and music education. The selection in the store is great, and you can try things out anytime. The guitar tech, Aaron, is one of the best Ive had, and his turn around times are much faster than other shops at the moment. Im so thankful for the recent work he did repairing my bridge, when I thought I would need a whole new bridge. Thanks!
Very friendly staff! And great selection of instruments including affordable to fine guitars, banjos, delicimers, mandolins, ukuleles, and more! Highly recommend checking it out!
Simply the best guitar shop in Salt Lake. You’ve got a question or need help? Meg’s got you; need your guitar taken care of? Aaron’s work is wonderful, and their prices are well within reason.Glad I found this place when I moved to Salt Lake!
Dont go to this place these guys were rude I picked up 2 guitars I was there for no more than 5 minutes and the guy rudely asked me ask me if I found what I was looking for in a shop thats about as big as a shoe Box I wouldnt go there and spend my money
I used to go to Acoustic Music when I attended the University of Utah. I went back for the first time in over 10 years recently. They have a great selection of acoustic instruments with guitars being the primary focus. Martin, Taylor, Santa Cruz, and others. I saw that they were an Alvarez dealer in the past, but they dont carry them anymore. Staff are helpful and professional. They also have skilled professionals that do guitar repair. Overall I would strongly recommend Acoustic Music for guitarists.
Meg and Aaron were great, I went in to get my 48 Martin 0-18 worked on and Aaron did a great job on it. Of course I started eyeballing guitars when I dropped it off. When I came to pick it up (very quick turn around time), I thought I was going to try to pick b/t 2 Santa Cruz guitars and Meg took the time to figure out what my ear was looking for and she suggested a Collings OM2H SB and after cycling through the 3 for about 20 minutes walked out with my Martin and this beauty. Thanks Meg!!
I spent almost two hours in here today, just playing different guitars because I’m planning to purchase one in 1-2 months. I couldn’t believe how accommodating and helpful Peter was, he has worked there for a long time and helped me so much. He listened to me okay and wrote down musicians he thinks I should check out on YouTube and in concert, talked with me about different instructors and went over different guitar styles with me. I fThe aesthetic inside is beautiful, the guitar selection is unreal. This is the most inclusive one-stop shop I have ever visited. They hooked up me up with fabulous instructors as well and I finally know the best places for music happenings, open mic nights, etc. This place is seriously a gem. I would give it 50 stars if I could.
Amazing is all I can say ❤️ Fantastic instruments and a heartfelt incredible staff. Check it out!
Friendly/helpful/knowledgeable staff and a great selection of instruments and gear.
We went into Acoustic Music today for some advice on a guitar for our 6 year old. Great vibe in the shop and super good advice on a guitar and lessons. They didn’t have the guitar we needed, but Megan called around and found one. It is perfect for our little rock star. Thanks for taking the time and helping us get what we needed.
Ive been to many guitar stores all over the country and this one is by far my favorite. They have an amazing selection and excellent service.
I have been to at least six different stores from Ogden to Draper, and each told me that it was impossible to find finger picks that were different sizes. Id mostly given up hope but following the recommendation of someone, I visited Acoustic Music. Immediately I was helped, with a range of choices that fit great! And when I said I was also interested in a capo, I received a demonstration of how a banjo capo works differently which helped immensely. There is fantastic selection not only of picks, but various instruments, a huge selection of strings, and very reasonably priced.I look forward to needing new strings and going back.
Great guitar store! Lots of help. Real friendly, genuine people. No pressure.Im a bit of a novice but they were patient and I learned a lot just talking with them. They are professionals so my buddy who is really good very much likes to go there as well.Cant give them enough stars!! This will be my go to shop.Purchased an Eastman and felt that I got a really good deal.
Wow-Fantastic shop! Well stocked, great staff.
If you like guitars, you’ll love this place. Our favorite store in Utah. Extremely knowledgable on how to protect your beautiful instruments. We love the staff, extremely helpful and kind!
Great people and absolutely amazing service
This is an incredible shop. I took several years off from playing the guitar, and when I decided to get seriously back into it, Meg was incredibly patient and helpful. They have inventory to fit almost any budget, and the experience to always steer you in the right direction--Ive never felt like I was being upsold to. Acoustic Music is a great example of the sense of community a small shop can give, that a big box store will never be able to offer.
Very friendly, definitely worth stopping by
The owner is knowledgeable, helpful, and amicable. Best acoustic guitar shop Ive been to
Awesome store and super nice folks! A couple years ago they got my Washburn all set up and it still plays awesomely! They are very knowledgeable. I will be bringing my acoustics here whenever they need work!
Very nice experience buying a guitar she brought out options in my range.played the few and picked out and she got me out the door ready to go.will be visiting soon
Amazing place, the owner is in it for the right reasons. Everything thing she puts for sale in her store is quality, with her customers satisfaction in mind. Buying from Acoustic Music always feels like a win win.
Great guitar shop with excellent selection and helpful employees.
Acoustic Music is the real deal brick and mortar shop. They have the best selection of Martin, Collings, Santa Cruz and many others guitars as well as a plethora of other instruments. I’ve been coming here for many years and was concerned when Brian sold the business but the new owner Meg is absolutely amazing and real. I recently bought a couple Collings “CJ 35 and a D2H” and was so indecisive and had so many questions and she was extremely patient in helping me find my dream guitars. I will absolutely be giving her my future business. She’s a way rad chick and extremely knowledgeable!
Awesome place. Helpful staff. Great selection of guitars.
Very helpful and knowledgeable. Lots of quitars, banjos, ukuleles to choose from.
I went in the other day to buy a ukelele for my wife and Meg helped me. She was very friendly and adamant that if my wife didnt like the instrument we should bring it back. She also gave me recommendations for online resources for my wife to learn. She made sure I was well taken care of and I would definitely recommend this business.
My neighbors referred me here as I was given 2 free guitars that didnt seem in the best shape but what do I know? I called first and spoke with Abel who was very helpful and gave me some good information so I was prepared for my visit. I then headed on in. There I met Ryan who inspected both guitars. I left them with him as I headed out for about 15 minutes. I came back to find the Ibanez cleaned up and looking great; then he re-strung it (the strings were broken) and once done, it sounded lovely! The other (an Applause AA13) didnt need strings but it got a wipe down, dust off and it too sounded great once in tune. So happy with my experience and with the way I was treated. Abel and Ryan were so cool and awesome to talk with and meeting them was a true treat!
Acoustic Music was amazing to work with when purchasing a new Martin guitar. Megan and Trenten went out of their way to accommodate me in finding a guitar that i can comfortably play from my wheelchair. I am more than happy with the experience.
This place is dangerous! Small, intimate setting with just the right smattering of amazing instruments. Despite all the inconveniences imposed on local businesses due to the pandemic Meg was awesome to work with, patient and spoke in a language that a somewhat newbie could understand. Keep your credit card close because one could definitely have fun in this store.
Site has great information
Great shop! Friendly service and very welcoming.Edit: Meg and Kelson went out of their way to help me with some issues I was having with my Taylor. Professional and friendly, they will get you sorted!
Friendly local honest guitar store offering lessons, new and used instruments, and repairs by people who actually use what they sell. I have bought used instruments from them and just dropped off two guitars for crack repair. I buy all my strings and other such here too. Megan and crew will take good care of you.
We didnt get a guitar, but it was still a great experience. My boyfriend was so excited that she let him play a $3000 guitar! Would definitely buy in the future and if were in town!
Meg is amazing! I went in to get my guitar strings changed and she said yes and then replied let me show you how to change them yourself so you dont have to pay for it ever again. She showed me and changed them all right in front of me under 10 minutes and helped two others with ukeleles before me. I ended up buying a capo, snark tuner, and batteries for the great service!I will be coming here from now on for my acoustic needs
I dont know how others have commented how friendly this place is. The lady, Meg, was very rude with me, telling me I was going to mess up my Martin by having it adjusted before she even looked at it- not in a kind manner (my strings are buzzing off the frets like crazy.) So I went to walk out the door and she grabbed at the handle on the case and tried to get the guitar away from me. I was just trying to avoid going to major corporate guitar center but now wish I would have just went right there. Maybe she was just having a bad day, but i dont deserve to feel like that...nobody does and I was trying to bring her business. Beware!
Fantastic little shop. I think the owner might be a wizard! Warm, interested in what I needed, super supportive. This place is a wee hard to see but look closely and there is a driveway leading to parking in the rear. Not very handicapped accessible but overall very charming. Not at all like a super chain
This place is fantastic! I love this place mostly for the people that work there and their great service. Also, this place allows you to play very well made instruments which allows you to get a sense of what instrument you are willing to save up for.
Meg is an absolutely amazing person; she owns the place. She has a great staff, all of which are very knowledgable. I take lessons that are coordinated through the shop, as well; my teacher is awesome, Meg suggested the right person for them.I went in, for the first time, and I was told that I should pull the guitars off the shelf, and play them, because instruments are meant to be played. I went in, 3-4 times a week for the next three weeks because Meg said youll know the right one when you find it which was the absolute truth. The instrument I ultimately ended up buying was put on the shelf 3 hours before I got there that day; and, when I played it for the first time, it felt like a long lost friend. I cant recommend this place enough, its a place for friends, and repeat customers and worth the stop. If youre in from out of town or just passing through.Ive bought two amazing guitars from this place. If they cant help, youll be directed to a place that can, thats good business. Thanks Meg and crew!
I went in about a week ago to (I thought) just look at some guitars, as Id had plans to begin shopping for an acoustic guitar right before the pandemic scuttled all sorts of shopping plans. I had honestly planned to go and look here because its closer to home, but drive farther away to a store that was advertising a good coupon deal for a limited time. However, as I was treated well and truly helpfully by the owner, I stuck around to check out more guitars, and as I did so I couldnt help but overhear the owners concern for her clientele and workers in discussions being had in the shop while I was noodling on a guitar. At the end of the day, I decided that supporting an owner who really cared about the customers was worth a couple hundred dollars of savings, bought a new guitar, got taken care of quite well with all the necessary accoutrements that go with a new guitar and went home to enjoy my new instrument. About an hour after I got home I realized Id not even checked the price of the instrument vs. the big online sellers to see how much of a premium I paid to shop local and support a business I wanted to see do well, so I fired up a web browser and went to compare to the big online sellers, only to find that the pricing at the locally owned store with an owner who demonstrably cared about the people who came through their door was noticeably less than the online volume sellers.Suffice to say, they made a customer for life without having to try to make me feel any more special than any other customer they might have.
Wow! I havent been here in years but was super blown away by Meg and the remodel she created. Much cleaner, organized, and test player friendly. I called, during Covid nonsense, and let her know I was on my way. I arrived to a room where she had the guitars I was interested in already set up on stands with different pick varieties and a capo ready to go. What the hell?Meg, whom Ive never met, was very kind and accommodating and knew just how to ask questions when appropriate, and leave me alone to play.I found her, the shop and the choice of guitars amazing!I found several guitars I liked, and we talked about purchase options with no pressure. Awesome!I told her I would speak with my boss lady wife and would be back. She offered to hold them for me if I called and let her know. I instead, showed up 2 days later, and she treated as a long lost friend. Welcome and warmer than the previous visit. We got to know each other a bit and talked about life and guitars. I was blown away and became confident in my decision to purchase from her rather than the Guitar Center mega center and the vast array of online sellers.I ended up buying a Martin D-35 natural. Forget this Torrefied aged guitar nonsense going on that all manufactures are all competing against each other with. Go for the naturals and mold with the instrument even though it takes time.Meg kindly hooked me up with some nice extras and a humidifier with strict instructions. She obviously cared more about the guitar, and my happiness with my purchase than making a quick buck. The guitar is amazing, she is amazing, and what a great experience I have had purchasing a great guitar from a local business. As a local business owner myself, I cant say enough how much I am satisfied with her and her business. I feel I made a lifelong friend in the process. Isnt that what music and life is all about?Shop local!
Great place and extremely nice service. We just walked in with a minor Ukulele string problem and we found a friendly store, extremely positive service and a very nice and knowledgable lady radiating positive energy. It is more than a shop.
Amazing Place! The staff are all so helpful and nice and the owner Meg is outstanding! I popped in to have some work done on my ukulele and she just happened to be getting in some new guitars at the time, I asked if she would play and she blew me away. Amazing on the guitar and incredible voice! I will never go anywhere else!
I bought a Taylor 414 Rosewood cutaway with v-bracing, just the guitar I was looking for! Meg is awesome, she has the coolest guitar store, she gave me a great deal. I have an awesome memory of that day!
Beautiful acoustic selection
Its the best place for guitar strings in downtown Salt Lake City.
We stopped in to see the shop for fun when visiting our daughter down the street. Excellent, excellent selection of many instruments. Extremely friendly and personable staff. Highly recommended!
Acoustic Music came recommended as THE place to go when looking for a new steel string guitar. I was not let down -- the owner Meg is very friendly, warm, inviting, and knowledgeable about all of the instruments. You have access to try any guitars in the shop, and their no-pressure attitude really lets you explore and try the different instruments at your pace.I returned a few weeks later to purchase a Martin guitar that I absolutely fell in love with. Meg was incredibly helpful and generous in making sure the guitar was taken care of on our way out. She provided tips and tricks to keep it in great shape and ready to last a lifetime.I will be back and using this shop for any of my guitar needs. Why go anywhere else when youre treated like an old friend?
Amazing little guitar shop with a nice variety of well known brands and smaller boutique guitars. The owners and staff are definitely knowledgeable and very friendly. Would highly recommend.
Best place in Utah to find a good used acoustic guitar or mandolin. They are one of the few places in Utah that carry guitars from boutique luthiers. Very high-end stuff. If you’ve never played Brazilian, you haven’t played.Trenten Mansfield is the best music store employee I’ve ever met. Extremely passionate and knowledgeable and knows how to match a player to a guitar.
Bought a guitar here.Megan is AWESOME and will make sure that you are well taken care of when purchasing a new instrument.
The staffs are nice and super helpful, even if you dont know anything about music.
What a gem of a store. Qualify? One, selection of acoustic instruments (guitars and ukulele primarily) is REALLY impressive. Two, #1 could potentially be a let down IF the large selection consisted of only high priced Martins and Taylors, but, there are other high quality guitars (Tetons, for example) plus a nice used selection for lesser price points. Three, I have NEVER been received poorly. On the contrary, every single time I’ve walked in, I’ve been offered a tuner and pick with an open invitation to try and play anything. Even the most expensive items are accessible; no “ask for assistance” signs anywhere nor instruments placed where air is rare. Meg, the owner, is so amazingly warm, real, and willing to help anyone. Most recently, I overheard her offer to “babysit” a new customer’s neglected, dry and warped guitar, happily offering the task of re-humidifying it while they are out of town. Four, the sales staff with whom I’ve worked have been honest and forthright. On occasion I’ve approached the register with an item/items only to have one offer an alternative, less expensive suggestion. Five, they support the local community and local musicians, often providing the store as a stage to share and perform. Six, and this is a personal thing, there aren’t 50 amps plugged in and cranked to decibel levels that challenge an ear drum’s capacity to remain intact...sorry Guitar Center, like I said, just me. Seven, they have lessons (guitar, voice, singing/songwriting, etc) available. I don’t spend too much time writing reviews but figure some qualifying rationale for 5 stars may be more meaningful. It feels good to support our local stores and businesses and wholeheartedly endorse this one!
This place has been a Salt Lake City fixture for a long, long time. The owners are just eager to get people playing music, and have a clear passion for it. The owners recently turned over, which worried me at first, until the new owner was just as inviting and knowledgeable as the one before. Ill be giving them my business and recommending them to anyone who wants to buy an acoustic guitar, bass, uke, or acoustic oddity in Salt Lake as long as theyre around.
I took in a cheap 1/4 guitar I bought for my daughter for Christmas. They fixed it up and it sounds really nice. They treated me and my kids so well. Thank you!
Staff is amazing. Always super helpful and these guys have the best and biggest selection of new and used guitars in the salt lake area by far. (Except for the big national chain but its important to shop local and support our local economy) they are always giving away great deals and its a beautiful shop ever since they remodeled! Every other shop feels old almost like a pawn shop. Not acoustic music its an inviting environment and a fun storee to play around in.
Such a cute music store- locally owned. The owner is so nice and super talented! She played a “ganjo” for my family and I, a six string banjo! Super quality place. Can’t wait to go back and play beautiful music!
Visited for my first time last weekend, and was impressed by the friendliness and willingness to let me grab any guitar and play. There was no pressure to buy whatsoever. Great atmosphere. Thanks for a great experience.
The owners care about the customers, memorized my name after my first visit and always go above and beyond with their service. Theyre incredibly knowledgeable and love to share information and tools. This is exactly the kind of local shop you want to support.
Super amazing store. Beautiful instruments and amazing people working there. Highly recommend. #shopsmallbusiness
I went there to get a guitar for my birthday. Brian (Bryan?) was super helpful in identifying for me a good selection of guitars for my skill and price range. They have walls full of different makes and models as well as any accessories that a first-time owner like myself might need. Great selection and customer service.
Incredibly helpful owner. You can tell she loves what she does.
My favorite music store to date. Ive never felt more welcomed and encouraged and at home in a music store, and connected to a music community so quickly. Great selection, great people. Thanks for what youre continuing to create, Meg.
When I went here I was in a rush to get a family thing but I needed a set of guitar and ukulele strings (long story on why I needed them) so I get there and it doesnt open for another 25 minutes but the guy was out front shoveling snow and he helped me anyways. I got in and out quickly and got what I needed. Great guitar shop! Also they have some really cool instruments in there to see.
Just stopped in to get some new strings on a used guitar I just bought. They took such good care of us. They adjusted the action in addition to the new strings and gave the guitar a once over. I had a great experience. I would be happy to give them my business in the future.
This is a great place for all your guitar needs. From strings to tuners to the best guitars, they take care of you. Megan and Aaron will make you feel like you are part of the family. Highly recommended.
Outstanding local shop! Fair prices and a lot of great guitars on the walls in every price range. Friendly and engaging staff. Very much look forward to it next visit!
I love this shop. Any time I need anything done on my acoustic guitar this is the place I go. Staff is amazing, and they are more interested in you learning and and having a good experience than just making a quick dollar off you.
I walked in and felt Meg’s love for people, music and her craft, instantly. Her store is lovely, warm and accepting and SLC is a better musical community because of her. Thanks Meg!
Great service I absolutely love it there. Friendly atmosphere. Amazing selection of guitars. I was looking for a pick and they showed me a variety of pics. And I loved the one I bought.
How can you store so many instruments in such a small place? I instantly feel like being at home. The walls look about the same. In one corner I find a Steve Fisher guitar. The instrument tells me to take it down and play it. I do so and Im in love. Megan shows me her favorite guitar (if I could just remeber the brand). Shes right. A wonderful guitar. So the guitars, so the people. Great instruments, great people, great service.
Established local shop with wide variety of stringed acoustic instruments; well-trained and expert staff.
This is the place to get an acoustic guitar, uke, mandolin, etc. A small shop with a friendly, welcoming vibe. I was visiting my daughter in SLC and she insisted we go and check it out. Shed been a few times and knew Id like it. They were hosting a performance on the Saturday I went. The staff encouraged us to play offering picks and tuners.
Ive never been so satisfied as a customer. I walked in as an aspiring beginner and Meg told me everything I needed to know to get started. If youre looking to buy a guitar or sign up for lessons in SLC, this is where you want to go.
Very helpful staff. Not snobby and very knowledgeable. A good experience.
Awesome store, great election of picks & gears as well as acoustic guitars. Guitars are not locked in place so you can wander around & try them in a relaxed comfortable setting (unlike another box store in SLC). They have Gibson, Martin, Breedlove, Taylor, Eastman, and a few others.
Love these guys. Great selection and wide variety of guitars. Lessons available too. Very community oriented and friendly.
This has been my go-to music store for over thirty years. The knowledgeable and friendly staff, excellent service and quality products are just some of the reasons. Their long-time support of the acoustic music community is another. I dont know what Id do without them. I never buy anything online that I can get, or order, from them, and I know I can send my students there and trust that theyll get the appropriate help or product they need.
Best knowledge of Martin guitars Ive experienced in a very long time. Awesome customer service by the owner, Meagan Peters. Meagan you are awesome!
Great place and lovely staff
This is a nice little place, but I have always had a hard time buying a banjo here. Years ago I tried to buy an entry level banjo here, but they had none. Recently I tried to buy an intermediate banjo, but they only had one to look at. Probably a good place to buy an entry level one, although they only have Deerings. Give the place a try - I just dont have much luck here....
Great little store. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful staff. All real musicians.
The staff is amazing. Great selection of guitars and ukes. Come on Saturday for the live acoustic music. Meg is terrific!!
Love this place! Impressive variety of acoustic instruments. Staff is wonderfully accomedating. They let me spend an hour looking at every ukulele until I found the one that was right me. Thanks Megan and Herold and the other guy im sorry i forgot your name!
Thanks for installing a new pick up in my mini today! It sounds so nice through my bose system...✌️😁✌️
Amazing customer service as usual
Amazing selection and knowledge of guitars. Loved my experience.
Awesome locally owned music store. Very pleasant, friendly and helpful staff. Wide price ranges on instruments & accessories, new and used.
Meg is the awesome queen and thats a review, folks.
I have done business with the guys at Acoustic Music for many years. The products are the serviceare unbeatable. Also lots of great deals on used instruments. I have referred many family members and friends to Acoustic Music over the years and they have all become loyal customers as well. I would not shop anywhere else.
