Great place for both beginners and veterans. This my dad’s go to shop (30+ years of smoking) and is now mine (~3 months) after just my first visit. Gabe was immediately ready to walk me through the humidor, give me great recommendations based off what I’ve tried so far, all while helping another customer. If you have the opportunity to stop by, I would recommend just for the customer service alone!
Gabe is a Rock Star across the Cigar Industry and San Antonio community. The products he personally selects are always customer driven and customer focused. I have been a loyal patron since the grand opening and will continue to support this locally owned small business!
Absolutely top notch, if youre wondering where the best spot for boutique cigars in the San Antonio is.... THIS IS IT!!!!
Owner and son are legitimately good hearted people. Been there twice last week and plan on going there again soon.Edit: If youre looking for a cigar spot that sells the boutique or LCA cigars, this is the place to go. Speak with the owner frequently and I dont mind driving out of my way to grab a few sticks.
Just visited Cigar Pointe and it was simply AMAZING!!! My best friend and I visited to get cigars for our men and wanted to make sure that we were picking out a suitable selection. Jimmy took his time to understand the type of smokers they were and guided us to the the type cigars best suited to their needs. He was generous with his time and we received an education in the process! I even learned that they will ship here in TX. I will definitely make it a point to patronize this shop and tell everyone I know about the extraordinary service and selection. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of us!
A few years back I got into cigars and could not even begin to figure out where to start. I walked in to the store with no idea what I was doing and pretty nervous. However the owner not only took the time to explain everything, but showed me different cigars, and set me up with everything I needed to get started. Since I have returned countless times. As I read the reviews here of people having negative experiences it’s clear that they have only ever bought from Yes men that don’t have an opinion of their own. With all the options out there an honest, no BS recommendation of what is good and what isn’t is always helpful. Thank you CP
Great selection of cigars and very friendly owner
I love this cigar shop. I have read a few reviews about rude staff and that’s just BS. My guess is you probably walked in with a bad attitude and left with the same. Very professional and courteous staff!
Dont even think of another place to buy cigars. Gabe and his family are awesome and willing to bring in anything they can get their hands on. Extremely knowledgeable and they spend their time to get to know you!
Great shop with plenty of selection. If you are looking to try something new or just to smoke the same old cigar you can probably find it here. Staff, including Gabe, are knowledgeable and friendly.
Always a pleasure visiting this humidor! I have seen many shops come and go in this area through the years. Cigar pointe has what the others didn’t! Great selection, great service, good prices. I will continue to shop here as I have for years.
I love coming here to get gifts for family and friends! They always have a great selection and the owner Gabe is easily available to answer any questions and give suggestions. I would definitely recommend checking this place out!
I truly believe that this shop will do everything they can to make you a happy customer. Gabe and his staff will not steer you wrong or push you to a more expensive stick. They have my respect and a firm hold on my cigar budget lol!
This is the place to be. First and foremost: the knowledge and selection in this business is second to none. They have the uncommon cigars that I relish. The owners stay current on cigar releases and flavors, in order to provide their customers with the best cigars you can get. Theres a small private lounge in the back; chairs, tables, ash trays, a tv, and a turn table. You can bring in your own record, sit down with a nice smoke, and just relax a bit. I recommend this place to every smoker I meet. From birthday gifts, wedding gifts, to just entertaining friends from out of town, Cigar Pointe is a must!
By far the best store in San Antonio for quality smokes, as well as exceptional service for all things cigars and more. As soon as you walk in you see an awesome walk-in humidor separated from the rest of the store which only heightens the experience as its a fully stocked room, with some sticks you cant even find anywhere else in the city. You can’t beat the prices, and after you select something you can go and smoke in their really nice lounge with comfortable chairs and a nice TV. Gabe and his parents are not only knowledgeable, but very eager to help and won’t try to up sell or rip you off. If you want the full experience with down to earth people and want to get your hands on some great cigars, this is the place for it! Great store, great owners.
Great spot for boutique cigars and very knowledgeable staff/owner. Stuff that you wont find anywhere else in SA.
Can’t say enough good things about this place . Has all the big hitters you’d expect but a treasure of phenomenal smaller brands that Gabe (owner ) does an excellent job of getting . Has really expanded my knowledge and taste . Great independent small business that I’m happy to support and you should too .
Great all around. The selection is awesome. It had some things I was expecting and new brands I had never heard of but have come to enjoy. Very knowledgeable staff that was able to help me find was I was looking for and give good recommendations. No snobbery at this place, they are friendly to advanced and new smokers alike. All this will keep my business here and not elsewhere.
Great alternative to factory brand stores. Cigar Pointe, according to the owner, was started because he didnt like the selection of cigars at local shops. My visit was very nice with lots of great choices that were new to me. I highly recommend a visit to try something altogether different and expand your cigar choices with new variety.
Wont go anywhere else now. I started out shopping at other places in town for my cigars, but once I found Cigar Pointe, I never went anywhere else. First of all, the service is head and shoulders above any other humidor. The owner, Gabe, knows his stuff and listens to me rather than trying to sell me something. His dad, Jimmy, is awesome too. Well informed and great guy. On top of the great service, the selection is unique to anything Ive found anywhere else in town. Youll see the big box brands youre familiar with, but youll also find a huge selection of boutique lines that are different than anything youve ever had before. Its like finding a great craft beer. Ive got all my friends going to Cigar Pointe now. Try it.
THE BEST!!!!! Gabe is very knowledgeable about cigars and recommended a few cigars I now love! Im a customer for life. He has cigars not available anywhere else in town. Cant say enough good things about the gentleman and his business. Great place to chill and smoke one
Best cigar shop in town. Great service, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Outstanding selection.
The only cigar shop in town with a great, knowledgeable staff and an outstanding selection. The owner always helps me find exactly what Im in the mood for and his appreciation for quality is a huge plus. Super laid back lounge to relax and smoke in. Illuminate.
Great selection of cigars. Great input on cigars and good variety based on my flavor profile. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Well worth the 2 hour drive!
Amazing selection of cigars you cant find anywhere else in San Antonio. Owners go out of their way to make sure you find the best cigar for you.
The selection looked impressive but I was not familiar with a lot of the selection. After doing multiple laps around the Humidor I finally went to the front to interrupt the owners conversation with his buddy. I noticed a wall plaque for Kentucky Fired and I asked if he had any. Reply was god I hope not but let me look. Really then why have the wall plaque and Im sorry what I like isnt up to standards. I then asked about the Blind Mans Bluff as Ive heard mixed reviews on them. The answer was if they werent good I wouldnt have them. Bought a couple of Rocky Patel and left. My apologies for attempting to be a customer and having a question. I went to this B&M on friends reviews but wont be back. As the owner stated in previous reply to a review option 2 shop somewhere else. I will chose option 2 and also spread the word to my BOTL that they should do the same.
Stopped by today on my way to work. Excellent selection, nice walk in humidor. While I was making my selection I was listening to the owner talk to a young couple just getting their feet wet with cigars. It was clear the owner knew what he was talking about. I will most definitely be back.
My first time ever smoking a cigar was at Cigar Pointe. Walking in, I had no idea where to start, but the owner was there and took the time to show me the way. He put effort into explaining how cigars are made, and pointed out some of the more popular brands to me. He even took the time to show and explain how to properly light, as well as some cigar lingo. Since then, I have returned multiple times, and have always received much help in being pointed toward new and quality cigars. Recommendations were almost always enjoyable, never once did they try to sell me on more expensive cigars. I even received free cigars several times when he wanted feedback on a new brand, or if a cigar I purchased happened to be a bad build. Overall, the experience I have had with this shop has been excellent, and I shall continue to make my cigar purchases here in the future.
Absolutely love the staff knowledge and unique selection of cigars here. The owner Gabe has a massive knowledge of cigars and really tries to work with you to get the right stick for you and not just push some brands like other shops. Definitely my only source for cigars in San Antonio.
Excellent and friendly shop. I smoked plenty of cigars years ago. Ended up quitting for many years and then picked it up again. I started back up shopping at a bigger shop in town and always left with a bad experience. Thought about just ordering online but love to support local businesses so I wondered into Cigar Pointe. From day 1 weather its Gabe or his dad they have been extremely helpful bringing me up to speed and introducing me to some incredible cigars. I hate talking about work when Im not at work but when I see Gabe around town he is always friendly & ready to talk shop. Do yourself a favor and visit Cigar Pointe.
Clean and well stocked shop with the best selection of boutique cigars in the city. Very knowledgeable staff that is extremely helpful. This is the only place I will go in town!
Whats there not to like. The owner is beyond knowledgeable. And he isnt shy about sharing it. The shop is very clean. The prices are right where they need to be. I just wish he would had kush to the selection. Otherwise do yourself a favor and go.
I love this place and the owner is hot too!
My favorite San Antonio cigar shop. Great selection and Gabe never steers me wrong with his recommended smokes. The regulars are a great bunch and the lounge is never boring!
Love it!
This place is ran like a cigar shop should be. A great selection of rare cigars with a knowledgeable staff. Do yourself a favor and make this place a regular stop.
Excellent boutique cigar store. If you can’t find something you’ll love, you’re not a true cigar enthusiast.
The owner was very knowledgeable and helped me and my friends have a successful second herf night. Well definitely be coming here again soon.
The selection was limited. They had some great sticks but only from the brands they like. As if that wasnt irritating enough sally cigar snob followed me through the shop while I looked, only speaking if I directly asked a question. To top it off he had disparaging remarks for EVERY cigar I asked about.Snide and condescending employees spewing negativity from their hipster beards do not encourage repeat visits.
The best cigar shop. Hands down
Love this place, excellent customer service.
Great selection and friendly helpful staff!
Owner is an ignorant racist. He threatened on calling Trump to have me deported. Its sad to see that there are such uneducated ignorant people. I suggest you support a different business.
The Cigar Pointe is a small to medium cigar store located outside Loop 1604 and Blanco. The store itself is nice and well kept, and especially clean. It doesn’t have a sleazy feel to it that some cigar stores have, which is a definite plus. Their humidor itself is about average size for a cigar store, not super small and not expansive, and has a decent selection. Some staples of the cigar industry are available (Alec Bradley, Drew Estates) and some that are missing (CAO for instance). No super high end cigars and no garbage cigars that are machine produced; average cost $6 - $10. Their supply is usually well stocked, which is a good sign, a tall tell sign of a poorly kept store is a humidor that is barely stocked and empty boxes being kept on the shelves. This is a small locally owned business, and far from the only one in San Antonio, the closet cigar store to this one (Cigar Warehouse) is 2.6 miles away, so it is far from the only one in their town, or in their area.I am a big fan of cigars; my current collection has about 300 cigars in total. While it is easier and more cost effective to purchase cigars on-line, I make an earnest attempts to purchase once in a while from local cigar business to show my support and to try a new stick or two. I was going to Cigar Pointe about once every couple of months, but that is going to end now. Gabe had a recent promotion to purchase a shirt promoting his business; I went ahead and got one to show my support. When I went to his store his mother and father were working and were as nice as could be. After grabbing a couple of sticks I asked for some cigar juice (called Propylene Glycol Solution), they didn’t know what it was and told me that they didn’t carry it. I found that odd as most all cigar stores I have been at sell this cigar type product. After posting this on social media exact quote “What kind of cigar store doesnt sell cigar juice?” And walking away, I was bombarded with hostile brow beating questions from Gabe and received a private message that read:“I dont appreciate questioning my store just because I dont have cigar juice sorry we sell out of things.”I honestly don’t care if he appreciates it or not, it was feedback, and the impression I got from his parents was that they didn’t sell a product that a majority of cigar aficionados use in their humidor. He later wrote publically:“Sorry I try and concentrate on cigars. I also sell xikar products which has a product called PG Solution, also Boveda packs for humidification .”Here he does say that he sells it which means that there is a communication problem or that they were simply out, which wasn’t what I was told. I also find it ironic that he says he tries to concentrate on cigars, when he is currently promoting shirts. Now I have been in a lot of cigar shops where the owner is rude, unfriendly, etc. This is usually a byproduct of being the only game in town or being in business for a long time. Cigar Pointe doesn’t have either of those, so I chalk this behavior up as lack of customer relations.I won’t tell you not to go to this cigar store, but I will warn you that anything other than glowing, you are going to not be received very well. For me, I won’t be going back, there are plenty of local cigar stores in San Antonio, but I do wish the store the best of luck, and improved customer relations.Update from 16 Feb 2014I didnt see the stores response until now, I havent been back, and I am not planning on it in the future. I work entirely too hard for my money, and there are more than enough places in the city that are more than happy to treat me with respect to bother, but the shirt does make a great conversation piece when I wear it. I do take solace in the fact that I wasnt the only one that had to endure the sons attitude when not showering him with praise.
Crap selection rude staff. was my first and last time here. If you dont ever cary Opus, Anejo, Ferral pigs, or any decent tats dont bash them you just look like a fool selling your crap brands.
Drove here from Dripping Springs to find out they were closed on an open day. Darn. Not all was lost I guess. Went next door to eat.
Perfect place, amazing cigars, great smoke lounge, and chill owner
Was not impressed with the customer service I received in the store today. I may not have known exactly what I wanted, but there was little, if any, help from the person on staff. He was actually rude to me. I will not be shopping at this store again.
Great For Cigar Folks ...Friendly Staff ...
Excellent cigar selection and assistance
Best premium cigar selection in town
Big cigar selection
Cozy
Very limited selection which is not a big deal BUT the gentleman running the store asked if I needed help and just stayed there hovering to the side after I said no. I got the impression he was concerned about shoplifting so I left.
No american spirit tobacco
