This guy destroyed my car. Literally stopped running after a timing belt replacement. After $3,500 and 3 months of being in and out of the shop the car (that was in good shape and well taken care of) broke down after 3 weeks. Stay far away from Cox!

He always has the best price, and he never tries to sell you on things your car doesnt need, but will still let you know what it could use in the near future. Cox Auto Service really took care of me. Genuine, honest and helpful repair shop. I Had horrible squeaking noise in my car. I was quoted all kinds of stuff by another repair store near by. I came and saw Tony at Cox Auto. They finished my brakes and changed a belt. All done within 2 hours, and they gave me a loaner car. Tony assured me the other reccomended services from the other shop were not needed at this time. I saved money thanks to his honesty. I am definitely coming back.

Tony and his crew saved us this weekend. The undercarriage of my Hyundai sub was struck by an object on the 5. There was 5 of us stranded miles from home. He was the only auto repair that would take my car in on a Friday afternoon. He even came in when they were closed on Sunday, so he could finish the job and I could pick up my car. He patched the heater pipe and it still is not overheating until my local dealership can get the part in. Thank you Tony!!!!

I was helped by Lil Tony for an inspection on my fuel tank. Cox Auto was brutally honest on the maximum I would pay on getting my issue fixed, and after finding out the problem they gave me a good deal on getting the part I needed. While waiting they were even nice enough to drop me off at UTC to get some food and pick me up! Great service, and a couple weeks later the car is still running as good as it did when I got it back from their shop. I recommend!

My brakes started making a grinding noise so I called my mechanic and asked if I could bring it in. He said he could set up an appointment the following week. That wasnt going to work so I looked up brake service in my area and found Cox Auto Service on Miramar.The google reviews looked good so I called to make an appointment at 8:15am. Tony answered the call and said to bring in the car at 9:00am. Nice!Cox is located in a shopping center with other related businesses (Firestone, Enterprise, etc). The are two benches outside and two sofas inside.My car was taken into the shop right away. Around 10:00am, they explained I needed to replace my front rotors and brake pads. I was given a quote which included discounts and found the price to be reasonable. I gave them the go ahead to perform the work and was told it would take a couple of hours.Since the estimated wait time was not too bad, I waited inside. The lobby has AC and the sofas were comfortable.At 11:45am, I paid and was on my way. Tony and his staff was professional throughout the process. Im definitely happy with the price and service. Since they were able to take my car in and start work right away really won me over. Ill be taking my car here for service from now on.

Your website advertises a coupon for timing belt replacement of $189.95 for 4-cylinder vehicle. i printed the coupon as directed via the website. my fiance is there currently for the service and Tony has informed him that he will not honor the coupon. the price is $100 more.... YOU NEED TO UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE COUPONS! it is unethical for you to advertise something in writing and then counter that when the person is there. it would also be helpful to disclose the amount of time each service usually takes. PLEASE DO BETTER BUSINESS!

I have had my car services 5 times in the past 4 years at Cox Auto Services. Each time I was quoted a fair price. The repairs always came in as estimated and I always received exceptional service. Once I dropped my car off after hours and one of the great mechanics offered to give me a ride home. This saved me an expensive cab fare. In addition, I have received loaner cars when I needed them for little or nothing. Cox Auto receives 5 stars from me. Great reliable service at reasonable prices.

I came here for oil change every time. It is good service and nice price. The most important thing is this is the only one that I can do oil change after my work around 6pm. So I dont waste my time in the weekend.

I highly recommend Cox Auto for good prices, friendly service, and reliable work.I just randomly chose Cox Auto the first time I needed some repairs done in San Diego. I checked their prices and they were cheaper than other places, so I let them do the work, somewhat cautious about being charged for unnecessary services. However, they did a great job and I was really impressed by Tonys business ethic and friendliness. I have had them do almost all of my work since, and they have consistently saved me money and taken a sensible approach to maintaining my car without recommending unnecessary procedures.

Great service and great prices! The manager Tony completely won me over. After driving across the U.S to San Diego, I knew a lot of maintenance needed to be done. I gave Tony a budget and said go to town. Fix whatever needs it. Not only did Tony stay more than 50% under the budget I gave him, he did a perfect job servicing my vehicle. I’d like to thank the kind owner of this establishment for making my experience here a memorable one. I brought in my 2016 Honda Civic in for an oil change and a 30,000 mile check up and the service was extremely fast and efficient! Exactly what I anticipated. This was first time visiting this establishment and I have to say I was very impressed with the level of respect, the clear communication, and effort the owner put in to make my time personable. To anyone reading this review I say this: People who are unsatisfied with their service will 9 times out of 10 leave negative reviews, but very few take the time out of their day to reflect upon the amazing work these humble individuals are putting in to better our lives. This place deserves to be at leave 4.7!! I would recommend this location to anyone passing by. I even took a picture with the owner, Tony, to as a gesture of good faith in hopes that personal connection help this man’s buisness thrive. You are the best Tony.. Thank you!

Highly recommend. I was very loyal to my previous mechanic, but on the weekend when my mechanic was closed, Cox Auto was open when I needed help. Tony and the team are helpful, knowledgeable, and honest. I appreciate the personal customer service, friendly and transparent communication, and good work. I have an Audi TT coupe. They fixed my air conditioner and diagnosed and fixed an unrelated issue that would have had some very negative consequences if left unchecked.

Very friendly and proficient mechanics. Their pricing is very good too. They recognize exactly what is wrong and do not make you do repairs that are not necessary. And they give you a replacement car (an old one but perfectly usable) if you must leave your car with them.

I was a walk-in for a simple oil change on Saturday. They said theyd call me when finished. They never called me. I arrived at 8 AM on Monday before work to pick up my car. Its 8:20, no ones here, and no ones picking up the phone. Their Monday hours on their website explicitly say 8:00. Now Ill be late for work too.

I had just gotten into a car accident and was a little frazzled to say the least. Tony and his staff were incredibly efficient, courteous, and above all professional in guiding me through the process. I did not have to worry about much after leaving my car in their very capable hands. The repairs were done in a couple of days which is much sooner than expected given the time frames repair shops generally take for the kind if damage done. All this was done at no great cost to me WITHOUT skimping on quality. Tony really made what is generally a grudging and frustrating experience into something quick and painless.

My girlfriend brought my car here for an oil change, and instructed cox that the car was to be handed off to a bumper company next door to have the rear bumper replaced (deposit had already been paid for parts to bumper company) once the oil change was complete. The only work requested verbally or in writing was an oil change.Tony at cox took it upon himself to go change the bumper. Replaced it with an aftermarket bumper and sprayed it on the car. Overspray everywhere and underside left unpainted. We let him know we would not pay for the work and that it was illegal to do unauthorized work on someone’s vehicle. Tony proceeded to threaten my girlfriend on the phone and use every profane word he could think of.I urge everyone reading this to avoid this shop at all costs. Not only are they unethical, but as this review and others before it have stated, the quality of work is extremely poor. If their work or ethics are questioned, he’ll cuss you out.

I was told I needed new breaks from Pep Boys. I was a bit skeptical because I got them changed not too long ago. Came here and was very pleased to find I still had 90% on the front and 50% on the rear. They did a full inspection and I was told my car was in perfect condition and didnt need any work. Nice to find a car place that wont charge you for things you dont need! Needless to say, I will be coming back. 5 stars for their honestly and concern for costumer well-being. Also very friendly!

Incorrect diagnosis on a friends vehicle that would not start by two different employees. Outrageous quote for a starter replacment that the vehicle did not even need. I saved him a few hundred bucks by showing him how to operate the vehicles security system...lol.I am baffled why qualified technicians would overlook any anti-theft systems, start pounding on the starter with a hammer and assume that its the problem cause a hammer didnt fix it.The proper way to diagnose a no start condition would be to ensure there is battery voltage (12v) at the starter solenoid (large wire from battery) with they key off..then verify that the starter solenoid remote terminal (small wire)is receiving ignition signal (12v) when attempting to start the engine. The presence of voltage at both terminals would indicate a faulty starter. The lack of voltage at the remote terminal would have indicated that the ignition feed was not supplying voltage due to a faulty connection or a device which interrupts this signal to prevent theft of the vehicle (alarm/immobilizer). Not saying anything bad about the shop or the work that they do. Just keeping it real, Hoping to inform the public on how to save money on car repairs, as well as provide continuing education to a few automotive professionals at that location. Makes me wonder how many people pay to fix things that are not even broken?

Great service at cox auto from Jay, Ive been here twice over the past year and each time theyve beat my local shops prices usually by about 1/3rd for the same service. They dont mark up replacement parts like other shops Ive been to, and even recommended a used part on ebay I could buy myself to save $300 over the new OEM one( its an old truck, sometimes new isnt worth it).

My car had some issues starting up this week and when the engine finally turned over, I used Google Voice to desperately request a Good auto repair shop near me rather than AAA towing. Google came up with their listing at the top and I called before going over just to be sure they would be able to check out what was going on with my car. They were very accommodating and looked everything over under the hood. John was especially helpful and asked insightful questions that didnt make me feel like an idiot for not knowing more about cars. He guided me through some of the parts under the hood and checked everything diligently. They didnt charge me, they treated me respectfully, and they earned a new customer. I will be going back there for my oil changes and future services on our familys cars. Thanks guys!

Classic Bait & Switch. They advertise one thing to get you in the door then they start raising the cost. In my case a simple Full Synthetic Oil Change: as advertised comes with oil and new filter for $29.99. Synthetic Oil never uses a standard cheap $3 filter, all synthetic oils require a synthetic oil filter. This guy starts the price at $71 and says hes doing me a favor by brining it down to $64. I remind him I have the coupon for $29.99. He says, Yes, thats with the coupon, your filter is extra. $34 extra?! We argue for a minute before I walk out. He follows me out to my car eventually offering $45, saying MY car, a VW, requires a special screw on filter for $15 extra and shows me what is clearly not a screw on filter. We continue to argue; $45 is still unacceptable and not what he advertised, the advertisement was very clear. All I wanted was what he was advertising.

I would never bring this company business again... Terrible customer service, poor communication skills, and feel like I was ripped off... When I brought my concerns to the business, they were ignored, and more of my time and money was wasted... In the end had to go to another mechanic to have the same Services performed.. this mechanic and business are pirates ripping off their customers... Buyer beware

Updating my review.They used to be good, but are now a financial and mechanical travesty. I had a starter replaced 7 months ago. They charged me $600, but the starter they got me was faulty. The dealership just concluded that the aftermarket starter they sold me intermittently caused the crankshaft position sensor to fail so now I have to get a new starter.Dont make the same mistake I did. Compare with other places and you will find cheaper prices. Also, always ask for OEM parts when doing repairs and ask for paperwork proof of OEM parts.I have attached the dealership report.

Best Auto Repair Shop inSan Diego.My Car 2002 BMW Over heated on Miramar Road, I Called Cox Auto Service, They came to my location, they filled my Radiator so I could Drive to their shop to save me time and money for Towing . My Car Radiator was leaking. They replaced my radiator the same day and they give me a Free Loaner car so I can go to work white my car was being repaired.

Terrible!!! DONT GO HERE!!!! The Owner IS a JERK!! I came in at 11 Am To replace the Serpentine Belt it was supposed to. Be an Hour Service but the Mechanic put it on wrong... so we had to be towed back to the Shop.The Owner Imediatly Cusses And singles out An African American Employee for The Serpentine Belt Problem calling him an F**cking Idiot ... But this man hadn’t worked on my car... WHAT? I told the same employee later that he shouldn’t have been yelled at and it wasn’t Proffeesional of the Owner.I thought was just a disgruntled Owner Issue Until...3 hrs later the Owner says “ OH we can’t get a new belt today.” You have to wait till tomorrow”I said Huh? No .. we need to get home, my appointment was at 11 Am his morning, you said it was an hour quick service ...it’s now 5 our phones are dead, you need to call us An Uber ... we didn’t expect this.”..So after providing a terrible service, keeping us at the shop ALL freakin day .....he actually said” Be Quiet!! Don’t Talk!!” I said “ You don’t speak to me that way. You need to be professional!, I am a customer who paid for a Service that you haven’t fulfilled yet., I’m not paying for a ride home and my husbands works at 6 Am ... we. Need our car . ” I was ENRAGED!!! I informed him about reporting his business to The BBB ... he said” You can say whatever you want Lady... ok ... doesn’t matter to me.”The Owner then turned to talk to his friends and said” They( talking about his employees) can’t put the belt on ... this is why I don’t hire AMERICANS, they don’t know what they’re Doing !! They don’t know how to do Anything... Specially BLACK PEOPLE they really can’t do anything!!!”I realized at that moment he was targeting the Employee for The Car not being fixed because he was African American .... I was so Angry !! I went outside and did some cussing myself ... I would have Recorded him being a RACIST on Facebook Live. If my phone hadnt died . The best thing I could do was try not To Completely Loose my temper wich meant walking Oustside and Cussing They finally fixed the belt AGAIN so we will see if it works after we drive it a while ..if it breaks again then my husband will keep bringing it back until they can do their job.COX Not only do they hire terrible mechanics who can’t even fix a Serpentine Belt but the Owner hates American Workers And Specially Black American Workers .... Bad repair job. After paying over $2,000 for a rear differential, they forgot to tighten the bolts on the front u-joint. At best this was negligent and would have led to another $2,000 repair. At worst it could have caused a fatal accident. I caught it out of sheer luck.

The best auto shop ever. I was vacationing in san diego my car started to make loud ratteling niose.. i stop at Cox Auto Service they find out my engine cover was broken they repaired the cover and that was it. my car runs just fine.total cost $45.00I thought there goes for my vacation.

I gave Cox every chance to set things right, unfortunately they didnt. So I sorry to have to write this negative review.this summer, I went in for a AC controller replacement, I just wanted a quote on the part, as I had it checked out before a year prior, but couldnt find a used replacement part. The owner insisted they have a look at it, i waited 40 minutes to have him tell me i was right and needed the part. Then he said he could get me a used part, but initially indicated he was going to charge me for the inspection -I objected and he removed that. He estimated it would be $225 for the part, and $50-$75 to install - $300 all in. He said he found a part, but needed me to pay a $250 deposit to order the part. I indicated I was concerned what if it wasnt the right part or in bad condition - he said stood behind that, if so, i didnt have to worry. I called him to get the part installed, and he said then the part was wrong - and he would keep looking for it and let me know when he found one. I then did a search on ebay and found a part for $60, and gave instructions that the removal and installation was a simple - pop out and connecting one connector - a 5 min. task. So I told him i got the part, and to cancel my order the next day. He said fine, and said he would credit my account. he didnt credit it, so i called back a few weeks later after i didnt see the credit on my credit card bill . He said come pick up a check, he said he couldnt credit it for some reason. I said I work so mail the check to me. He said he would. I called back again 4 times asking for the check. Everytime he said he would get it to me. Once he even said it was mailed, and I didnt get it. I finally said I would come in to pick it up had my wife go pick it up, and he confirmed i would get my full $250 refund. When my wife shows up he said well i have have a service see - so i will only refund you only $238. I decided, i had enough of dealing with this and wasnt going to argue over $12, though unfair, and bad customer service. Just unprofessional service, and not what I want from a auto Service.I hope it was an isolated incident, and it doesnt happen to others.------posted now Dec. 4, --- after reading the comments from the owner - Re: Mr. Ritesh.His post is not true. He didnt discourage the used part, in fact he reccomended it as he said the $550 for new was very expensive. It was the next day, not 2 months later, that I canceled the order. It was 2 months later that he finally gave me the check less his $12 fee. He never told me to look for a used part or buy a new one. He did say he would keep looking for a used part that worked and would have it soon.So my first post was fair and mentioned maybe it was an isolated incident. Now after he mistated the truth. I have to say I would suggest never work with cox as you cant trust anything they say. Not what you want from your auto service company.I have no reason to mistate the truth. I am not getting anything for it. However the owner of cox - you can tell he does have something to gain now by saying my post is untrue.Anyways - good luck finding a good place for yourself.
