One of the worst experience of getting our kitchen counter tops change (along with sink replacement). It’s unbelievable how such a BIG company can behave with their valued customers. We had to call a handy man to complete their job🀭. These people cannot handle a simple job. They replaced our kitchen counters but could not figure out who will close the electric switches. So they left their job incompleteπŸ™ƒ. They are the sweetest host when you are planning a project and paying for it. But they will disappear when such a situation arise because of lack of planning and expertise. Why pay so much money when they have to distribute their work to other inexperienced companies? I will highly recommend to all my friends not to use this company for any future projects.

The place is gorgeous and set up as a design center but if you expect to get any kind of service you had to make an appointment to work with a designer. The employees at the front greet you when you enter but all except one employee throughout the entire design center ignored us as we walked around both the upper and lower showrooms (not even a hello as they walk right by you). You can go in and just browse around yourself to see tiles and bathroom appliance options but theres really not a ton of selections like we were expecting and you might be better off just visiting a regular home depot store if you already have a contractor and budget in mind

I purchased cabinets, appliances and countertops. I have my own contractor so I will update this review once my project is completed. Thank you Todd for designing a truly functional space, even though my kitchen dimensions wouldn’t accommodate an island, Jeff for help with appliances and Scott for your knowledge of flooring which I will purchase soon.

Where do I even begin with this soul crushing experience. Looking back, if we cut out the middle man at the Home Depot Design Center and ordered directly from the manufacturer, we would have been finished with our kitchen months ago. This remodel was riddled with countless mistakes, flat out ignoring emails or requests from us and so many headaches I can’t even count anymore. Going to cut this 11 month saga down into points:1. The designer disregarded our wishes on types of drawers, additional organizational items etc. during the design stage only to turn around and tell us those would replace what we have already ordered months later for an additional cost.2. Ended up with approx 5-7 inches of dead space once cabinets were installed. This could have easily changed what kind of cabinets we would have ordered to use the full space of our kitchen.3. First shipment of cabinets arrived heavily damaged and unusable. The other portion was shoddy craftsmanship at best. The replacements themselves took an additional 2 months to arrive.4. The damaged cabinets were returned but without our knowledge, the replacements only contained the cabinet boxes themselves! No doors, hinges, shelves etc. We were supposed to dismantle the damaged cabinets and use those pieces on the replacements.5. So fast forward to today 5 months later patiently waiting for each piece that was missing to be delivered. The final thing we have been waiting for are literally just the screws for 2 full cabinets or 4 doors or 8 hinges or a total of 16 screws. Geniuses sent us 8. I would say it’s like working with kindergartners, but even they could count to 16.So please, avoid this place. I have asked countless times for them to remedy their mistakes.

Design Center has some really nice upgraded products. You still need to do your homework before relying on their advice. Purchased a faucet that was made in USA. Subsequent research showed that faucet is assemble din USA, but parts are sourced from all over. Was also informed that the manufacturer makes all of its own parts--not true. Luckily, we were able to cancel before shipment as restocking fee would have been significant. Ask about this before purchasing. Dont expect much help after purchase. No one answers the phone--ever. Leaving a message is a waste of time.

Replace countertops with full demolition, disconnect/reconnect appliances and plumbing. WRONG! They subcontracted everything and did not follow up on anything. Very disappointed in Home Depot. The disconnect/reconnect was supposed to be done by My Dads Plumbing. Only did plumbing. Didnt touch microwave or cooktop. On return they wanted to charge to reconnect the water filter they disconnected. American Marble removed the microwave but almost destroyed the wall doing it. They threw out needed hardware for cabinets. They were polite while doing it though.*************So the Home Depot Design Center replied a month ago saying they would call me, they DID NOT.Based on this experience, I now shop with their competitors. I had a HD credit card which is now canceled.

Our family just bought our first house this past summer and were very excited to update the kitchen. I researched cabinet refacing and chose to go with Home Depot because of their stellar reputation and history of hiring veterans, etc. During the consultation, Chuck the designer assured us the customer service was their top priority and that their company had come a long way with respect to that. He sat in our partly demolished kitchen showing us photos of the fabulous kitchen we could have by thanksgiving. He made no mention that the quality of our existing cabinets could be an issue. We drank the cool-aid and that night signed a contract for over 20,000 to reface cabinets and replace the counter top. Further, he sold us on the Home Depot financing options and we signed up for the credit card. This was the beginning of September. About a week later, the measurements team came in to get official measurements. Once again, no mention that the quality of our cabinets was an issue. A few days after that, another woman came in to check a few measurements. Again, no mention there were any issues with our existing cabinets. Several weeks later we had not heard anything about the installation appointment so my husband called Chuck and left a message. Shortly after, a woman who I have never spoken to before called me. I was excited, hoping it was to schedule the install. Instead she told me, now SEVERAL weeks, almost November now, after the measurements appointment that they could not do our project because our existing cabinets were not good enough. I was completely devastated. As an active duty military family I was excited at the rare prospect of being able to host a thanksgiving for once. She offered no solution, only saying she could give me the number for the department that replaces cabinets. I asked her to come up with an alternative plan. This was days ago now and I never even got a call back. As for Chuck? We havent heard from him since September. How unprofessional, rude and downright mean. I now sit in a halfway demolished kitchen trying to figure out what to do for the upcoming holidays. Thanks Home Depot, you are an epic disappointment.

I made an appointment for a design consultation. My appointment was at noon and the gentleman came out to greet me 30 min later. He looked me over and I could tell did not want to help me. We looked at counter tops, which I already had a good idea of what I wanted. He then tried to send me up in an elevator to go look at tile/backslashes on my own and said he would be at his desk on the first floor if I needed pricing. What was the point of this design consultation if I was going to be doing it on my own and he was just there for pricing? I was looking for assistance with putting a full kitchen together. I think his name was Jeff, but the woman at the front wasnt very helpful and said she didnt know his name.

BUYER BEWARE. The showroom is beautiful. And that is where it ends.We ordered an expensive kitchen from them in December 2018 and put it on our credit card. They promised us the cabinets would be here in 3 months. It is now 13 months and the project is still not complete. Damaged cabinets were shipped, parts were missing, non-working appliances were installed, and it took days, weeks and months of chasing after them to get progress. Nothing, I repeat, nothing happened on time. In the meantime we lost use of our living room, family room and kitchen for months and suffered through their incompetence. Nobody cared.7 months in, when we were going crazy and we raised the matter to management, they apologized and promised to refund the full cost of the cabinets when the project was complete. And the project was not complete, (because parts were still missing).11 months in when asked for the credit, the general manager Mr. Montoya told us it could only be issued when the project was complete. And the project was not complete, (because parts were still missing).12 months in the project was still not complete. (because parts were still missing).13 months in, we got fed up and told them we wanted the credit as the project would never be complete. They reneged on their promise and offered less than half of the credit they had agreed, and that too, only if we sign an agreement to hold them harmless. It is incomprehensible to us that a company as reputable as Home Depot could show so little regard for their customers, lie, and act in such bad faith.Think really hard before you start any project with Home Depot Design Center.

My advice is to only buy the items there, but not to use their install service. We used their install on the built in fridge we bought there. It was delivered 8 weeks after we bought it, and it was delivered with the wrong doors. 3 weeks later the correct door panels were delivered but without the correct bolts to install. Another 2 weeks after that the correct bolts came and were installed.I spent three months paying for something without any one from the design center reaching out to me with any explanations of what went wrong. The scheduling team would send out installers without talking to us, and when we were contacted by installers as to why we werent home and told them because no one had called us, we were told that was normal.Home Depot needs to train their sales team to follow up with the clients until the jobs are done, not just take our money and send us on our way.

It was an awful experience. The showroom is lovely but they really messed up on our kitchen. We went in there and designed a whole kitchen had someone come out and measure twice to make sure we were creating what we wanted. Once the cabinets came in the measurements were wrong. We ended up losing 2 cabinets and had to downsize where those cabinets were originally to a smaller one and had to wait an extra 2 weeks. Also the crown molding on our cabinets was not measured right and we are now waiting on someone to come back to our home and fix it. It seemed as I’d they didn’t care whatsoever that we were left without a kitchen for more than a month. We still have no kitchen and our waiting on them we started with them ever since September it is now December and they aren’t done yet.I thought this was going to be a smooth process since we paid thousands of dollars but instead it was a HUGE nightmare. No one was concerned with our family or needs they just got paid and left the hassle of the phone calls on us to get someone to fix their mistakes. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone I’m greatly disappointed with Home Depot and will not be using them for any future projects. I paid too much money to get such poor customer service from them.

25% of the reviews here are 1 star reviews. I wish I had paid attention to them before shopping at this location! If you are looking to buy anything and have Home Depot install it, save yourself time, money, and a great deal of frustration and move on to another option. We bought 3 appliances, including an expensive built-in fridge, and the salesperson told us that the measuring team would contact us within a week. We had to call and prompt them after 2 weeks of no action. Even once they had confirmed the measurements, we heard nothing, and we had to call and go in to the store numerous times to ask why our items they were not being delivered. We never got straight answers, but finally got 1 item delivered and installed after a month of waiting. After placing numerous calls, we finally got a delivery date for the next item. The delivery team arrived and said Ok, wheres the stovetop that well be installing? They were going to install an item but had not brought it with them! After three months of frustration, we only had 2 of 3 items we purchased. After more calls to the store, they claimed they needed to come to our house to measure for the third item again. We wondered if we were in some bizarre Customer (dis)Satisfaction experiment. Its been six months since we paid for our purchase and they have not even contacted us to deliver the final item.Dont fall prey to the same bad decision that we made. Shop somewhere else.

Twice we have had to escalate problems to a manager. Calls don’t get returned. And every time there was an issue, we had to drive thirty miles from East county. Our last kitchen remodel was so much easier when we could deal with the local store. Bad idea to put the whole thing under one roof far from many parts of the county. Wouldn’t use them again. An updated review. The bad service from HD continues. Countertop company came out and did the template. We called them a week later to get an idea on scheduling. The HD countertop contractor was waiting for someone at HD to sign off on a change order from the size we paid for. We knew the size might change when the actual measurements were done. They provided us a name and # at the design center for the person who is responsible for that. No answer at that # and the system disconnects you so no message possible. Had to call the manager AGAIN (Kim). She said a step in the process was missed and she would take care of it with an email to the right person and my wife. No email came. Wife is back on the phone again, doing the phone-tree run around, getting disconnected and generally ignored by Home Depot Design Center. The final insult is we have to drive our extra pieces back to the consolidation center in Mira Mesa, a cabinet and unneeded trim. Cant do it on our schedule, like a weekend when we have time. The place is only open M-F.Home Depot stepped in it by moving all these services to a remote location far away from much of the county and removing the local store from the process. Go there and get a design if you want but dont buy from them. You will regret it. Or you will get real familiar with the management at HD Design Center.

If there is -1 star, I will go for it. I paid for my built-in fridge Aug. 2 and I end up cancelling it yesterday. I always write great reviews, this is actually my first BAD REVEIW :(((. Who should be blamed? the person who is not doing his job in scheduling measuring the space and scheduling the installment? not good with follow-up?, or the person above him who is not aware of his doing?. WE paid on Aug. 2nd, they came for measurements on the 12th (the day that the fridge was delivered to their warehouse). I waited for them to call me for delivery, and I didnt receive any calls for more than a week. I finally called, and was told that they will have to send an email to the person responsible for scheduling delivery. Monday afternoon came and still no call from that person, so I called him again and left a message, AGAIN... still no call back. I called their customer agent, and told them that IF I dont get a call back and get my fridge this week that I will have to cancel and get a refund. THEN, of course to the rescue, the manager called and he told me that my fridge will be delivered next week 9/6 (btw, the invoice indicated the estimated install END date is 9/1/2019). I finally decided to cancel and get a refund. I felt bad for the person who sold me, his sales was affected due to a non-productive or irresponsible person (I really feel so bad about the whole situation, I wasted my time. BUT, of course in any bad experience, you get a better one, I called another store (PS) and I dont have to pay for delivery and will get it on Monday.Hmmmm, what a lose for HD and a gain for PS. It seems like with all the negative reviews that they have here, will be a lot of lose for them.

This process started September 22, 2018 when we visited the kitchen and bath design center, picked and purchased all new appliances for our kitchen. You design a kitchen around the appliances as we wanted to change the layout of the kitchen. The assigned kitchen designer could not fit us into her schedule due to conflicts in scheduling so on November 2, 2018 we visited the design center and told them our issue with the current kitchen designer and was able to meet with a different kitchen designer. After a couple weeks of reviews and updates on the layouts, we finally ordered cabinets. My wife and I reviewed the new kitchen plans for a couple weeks and we had a concern with the layout of the appliances and wanted to change (swap) the location of the refrigerator and the wall oven to eliminate a choke point in the kitchen. Due to this change a wall cabinet and counter cabinet needed to be ordered to keep the stovetop location the same. All originally ordered cabinets were delivered 27 December 2018. They were all placed in the garage for storing. The cabinets ordered after swapping the refrigerator and wall oven arrived mid February 2019. We had a difficult time visualizing the new kitchen as a complete rendering was not provided due to software glitches with the kitchen designer computer. The contractor provided by the Home Depot commenced demolition of the kitchen March 6, 2019 after 1-2 weeks of site survey and measurements to verify the plans. There were numerous problems since the project started. Below are a few of them.1. Counter top incorrect size after two measurements. Increased size of island due to sqft used instead of length and width (paid extra to enlarge island counter).2. Deep freezer in the garage was unplugged (use of outlet for power tools) and not plugged back in at the end of the day. Left unplugged for a week and not noticed due to being away for the week. All items completely defrosted and lost.3. Bar sink cabinets extend further than the existing side wall. Measurements were taken 2 times by Home Depot and contractor prior to demolition.4. Electrical outlet placed over bar sink (corrected)5. Bar sink plumbing place incorrectly (corrected)6. Cabinets hung too low on bar sink cabinet wall. (Corrected and re hung higher per plans)7. Two door pulls missing. Ordered correct amount thu Home Depot online and inventoried when arrived however was told missing when hanging the handles. (Corrected)8. Butler pantry wall painted incorrect color (corrected and repainted).9. Counter depth refrigerator came with no front panels. Ordered all appliances 9-22-2018. Ordered cabinets 11-2-2018. Cabinet maker does not make wood panels for refrigerators. Stainless steel not ordered until mid/late Jun. As of 5 August still no front panels.10. Counter depth refrigerator does not fit I under the cabinets. Complete install of refrigerator cannot be completed until front panels arrive and cabinets altered so refrigerator can slide under. Side panel originally ordered was warped so two other panels were ordered and arrived mid June 2019.11. We have 4 countertop slabs. Butler pantry, bar top, stove top and island. Bar top slab was replaced twice due to defects. Stovetop slab was replaced 3 times. Island slab was ordered the wrong color by Home Depot but corrected before it was installed.Crown molding, kick plates at the base of cabinets, floating shelves and various miscellaneous items still not completed. We were told 6-8 weeks for our kitchen remodel. Over 10 months since ordering appliances. 8 months since ordering cabinets. Store manager(Anthony) was helpful in the beginning when we had problems to resolve but now he has twice just told the project manager to handle the issues after my wife has called and texted him of ongoing problems. Paid a lot for this kitchen remodel with a Home Depot Project Loan and some additional funds and we still dont have a completed kitchen. Regret going thru this process and will update this review once the kitchen remodel is completed.

I struggle with how exactly to rate the HDDC. I will start by saying I am in the middle of a top to bottom home renovation, including 2.5 bathrooms and a kitchen. At first impression, the showroom is fun and impressive. It is great to see so many mid- to high-end options in cabinets, and some that are only available at Home Depot. It is a great place to get inspiration. I will say the tile, floor, and appliance options are disappointingly limited for a big showroom, though. My first major concern with HDDC is how it is positioned compared to your every day Home Depot and what that means for the average remodeler. For example, in my 2 full baths, I wanted solid surface on my countertops and shower walls. I was buying Thomasville vanity cabinets through HDDC, so my local HD store pointed me to HDDC to order the solid surface. HDDC was unable to help me with that material (they could only do quartz or granite) and pointed back to the HD store. This happened to me for a few things where the two entities, all part of the same company, didn’t know who was supposed to do what. And it was odd to me that HDDC couldn’t deal with a solid surface order.Conversely, I did intend to do quite a bit myself (well, actually I am lucky to have family doing the work for me!). The only reason I went to HDDC in the first place was that I could only get the cabinets I desired through HDDC. But when I went to order my bathroom vanities, I was told by the designer I was assigned to that I was required to have HDDC measurements so she could create a design before ordering...even though there was nothing difficult or unusual about the cabinets I needed, and I neither wanted nor needed design or measurement help. This is where a bright spot appears - Bonnie, one of the managers, stepped in to help with Marvin, who both got me exactly what I needed immediately. They each deserve 5 stars for their help! And by the way, the cabinets turned out beautifully. So at the end, I don’t know what HDDC is supposed to be. Is it full-service? Is it supposed to help you do it yourself, but better? It is not at all clear to me, and it seems unclear to both HDDC and HD. Frankly, it seems odd that a big design center can’t help its clients with any design element or finish type, even if it is something typically offered through the local HD store. I would point to Pirch as an example, where they show the fancy high-end stuff in the showroom, but will help you buy anything you want at any price point. Hopefully this is just an issue of being a new concept, and HDDC and HD will figure it out without leaving their potential customers behind or underserved.I do plan to go back for my kitchen, as HDDC is the only place I can get the kitchen cabinets I want. But I honestly don’t know what to expect when I do...

We have been going through this kitchen remodel process since September, still no work started. Worst experience, people have come out twice to measure and now somebody else has to come out again to measure the floor. I have been telling people to stay away from the Home Depot design center, I really wish I had gone with the contractor we met with first. We have had to keep on top of them because they keep making mistakes. The cabinets arrived and there was a problem with one piece so now we have to wait for that replacement before they will schedule any work. I am extremely disappointed.

The absolute worst service I have ever experienced. The staff is exceptionally rude and arrogant, making the entire visit and subsequent experiences uncomfortable. The Center itself is beautiful and makes for great inspiration. Just dont order anything from them. When I call to speak to the designer, I get put on hold and then told he is busy. I ask to speak to anyone else that can answer a question and I get sent to someone who rudely tells me that they do not know anything about Hacker and cant help me. I ask to speak to the manager. More hold. Receptionist returns to tell me everyone is busy and someone will call me back. Wait. Wait. Call back. Ridiculous. I spent almost $30,000 and this is the service I get. I chose to order from them because I wanted the new Hacker cabinetry from Germany and they are the only source in the US. I ordered them on December 31st. It is now May 13th and not only do I NOT have any cabinets, I cant get them to tell me exactly when I will get them. My kitchen is completely demolished, leaving me at the mercy of delivery for food. Thank goodness I ordered my appliances from Lowes! I ordered my countertops from a local countertop store as I want nothing more to do with Home Depot that I cant walk in the store and pick up. At this point, I have asked their regional office to step in and have received an email that someone will be following up (!). Lets see how long this takes.

We had high hopes for this experience but unfortunately it fell flat. We liked our designer but the pace ended up being much slower than we thought it would be. The center carries a lot of products (some pretty high end), so you get inspiration but ultimately we would sit back down and look through the HD or other product websites, which we can do at home. The designers cant see each others notes, so when our designer wasnt available (and we werent notified) at our second scheduled appointment, the person that filled in was without any of the items we talked about. After finally figuring out what we wanted from reviewing websites (no complete design was ever created - we had to ask for a quote for a vanity, which we did get), we were told the order could happen through the HD designer, and so we waited for a full quote with all the products (tub, toilet, vanity, sinks, etc.). It was never sent, and after following up we were told we could order items ourselves. Again, this could have all been done without appointments or even a designer. In summary, time was wasted on a process that could really use better structure and communication. Designers might be overbooked, which doesnt help but ultimately, HD lost business because almost all our products will be bought through competitors. Recommendation is to use it for ideas and to see/feel the products, but dont waste your time (unless you have a lot of it) with a designer.

Only thing good about the design center is the ability to see a number of products in display that the HD stores don’t have. I purchase new Hacker kitchen cabinets back in mid December and was somewhat pressured to order right then since this company is German and will take 12 weeks to receive. If I waited, I was told we would lose 2 weeks over the holidays, so ordering right away was the best way to ensure I’d get my cabinets in 12 weeks. After the holidays, there were a couple iterations of my design that took 2 + weeks to communicated with a hacker in a Germany and get back to me. In Mid February, we completed my design (should have taken one meeting, but everything had to be set to Hacker Germany for review), I was then told that my 12 week lead time started, so now it’s an 18 week process to receive my kitchen cabinets. As the actual delivery date got closer, the delivery date was pushed to April 30th. I was also informed that the Hacker line of cabinets have installation requirements that are different than normal cabinets and that I really needed to use their β€œtrained” installers. I received a quote of $7500 for installation, which is 3-4 times what it should cost. I have a cabinet installer that I use on my investment properties who’s awesome, with 20+ years of experience and quoted $2k. I originally signed up with the HD installer but couldn’t sleep knowing I was getting ripped off, so I cancelled and currently using my installer. April 30th comes and the cabinets aren’t there. After calling and raising a stink, they made a special delivery 3 days later (on a Friday). I had my cabinet installer come over the weekend To install them and then realized that I’m 8 complete cabinets short. I called my HD rep and informed her of the issue and provided all the cabinet part numbers that weren’t there. It took until Wednesday of the following week, after several calls, promised return calls with an update, before someone from HD came out and looked at what was delivered and what was missing. They confirmed what I told them and said they’ll have their distribution company search their warehouse for them and that they’d call me back. No call Wednesday afternoon or Thursday. I called several times and finally got a call back Friday stating that their distribution center received another container Fromm Germany and that they’re emptying it as we spoke and that they’d call me with an update. No call from anyone all Friday and when I followed up late in the afternoon, they said that they couldn’t reach anyone in the distribution center for an update. I was told that they were going to discuss this with the design center manager first thing Saturday morning and call me. No contact from anyone at HD and I’ve reached out 2 times with no response. There’s no sense of urgency from anyone who works at the design center. I’ve asked for the manager’s contact info so I could call him and discuss my issue and have been promised that they’ll send it to me, but I’ve never received it. I was going to wait until my unbelievably horrific experience was over to post my review, but have had enough lip service and no action that I felt it necessary to post this now. Anyone thinking about using HD’s design center for custom cabinets or other products, DON’T. I’m going into my 22nd week since I ordered my cabinets without a kitchen. I’ll update this post when it warrants another post... either I finally got the balance of my cabinets or I’m still getting jerked around. Sorry for the long rant, but hopeful it prevents anyone else from going through this nightmare.5/21/19 update: received a response from HDDC asking me to contact them so a manager can call me. Hello... I’ve been asking for management to get involved for months now and haven’t received any calls. Regarding my order, after 10 days of β€œresearching”, they confirmed that my cabinets weren’t made, so they submitted a rush order to have them made and ship on Friday 5/17.10/2019 - After several more issues, my kitchen is finally done.

We will see how this one goes but it seemed a lot easier to go to your local HD store and not drive out of your way. Too far for me to drive to and appointments are 3 weeks out. Got an appointment at Lowes this weekend to configure my kitchen.

One of the DUMBEST decisions made yet by Home Depot. They have NOT learned from their FAILED DESIGN EXPO center, now a COSTCO, on Convoy Street. Good luck drawing people into over crowded, traffic congested Mira Mar.
