Great work here, honest prices and work. I have absolutely zero complaints. Theyre very professional and I will be coming here to get work done on my car. Im not originally from San Diego so to find a good honest mechanic is a blessing for me. Thank you for your work Kris I appreciate you!
Honest & Fair! I bought a used boat and in the receipts I found that these guys rebuilt the motor. I started getting a check engine light so I called them. They told me to drop the boat off and that theyd take a look. After a thorough inspection they were not able to detect why the check engine light was coming on (since you cant really run a diagnostic on this boat). They called and apologetically said that there would be no charge what-so-ever. Most shops charge several hundred dollars just to roll up their sleeves. The owner told me that he didnt feel right charging me since they didnt fix anything. Their honesty is very much appreciated! Recommend them with 5 Stars!
Kris was helpful and gave me options to save money on the repair for my car unlike other shops I been at.
Kenyon Machine...The way it used to be!I grew up the son of a Top Fuel race/machine shop owner in the late 60s - 70s. Things were totally different back then, in a good way. When you went to my dads shop and needed machining, you talked to the machinist doing the work. He would look you in the eye, and help you understand the options you had. He was a true Craftsman who had the experience to handle machining on rare or uncommon engines. This is exactly what Kenyon Machine is today. From the owner Greg to the lead machinist Robert the total years of real experience is staggering. If you have any machining needs, do yourself a favor and contact Greg.
Best Machine Shop in the world, smart people there know there stuff, very high quality work and can work on very very old cars, i have had Greg King the owner make me parts for my 29 Durant cars and Rob top engine builder in all of San Diego, and reasonable too. Just off of I-5 and Balboa so handy. They also have rebuilt 3 in line Ford 6 cly engines i use in my 29 Durant cars for chauffeuring, top notch old old company .Lance H..
A great machine shop. Have used them several times over the years for various engine work. Honest, good work and reasonable prices. Greg is great as he will discuss your project with you and give you reccomendations on what should be done in order for it to come out right.
I called and asked how much a valve job would be on a 3 cylinder Geo Metro head. I was quoted a price of $100. The head I brought to Kenyon was pulled from a low mileage Geo, very clean and no sign of carbon on valves or any wear. I simply wanted to make sure the new valves I had purchased did not go to waste and were properly lapped and seated. I provided all the parts to recondition the head if necessary. Upon arrival, I was told the head looked pretty good and there would be a tear down and reassembly charge of $75 to make sure everything was in fine working order. As I was about to leave, I was told that if I wanted to ensure that the head was truly without defect that a pressure test for leakage would need to be performed at a cost of $48. I was hesitant and began to second guess myself, but agreed to have the check performed even though a visual inspection of the head and all ports indicated no cracks were present. I was told that if any additional work needed to be performed that I would be called and advised of any additional charges prior to proceeding. A week passed from one Saturday to the next and I finally went to Kenyon to check on my head. To my surprise, the head was supposedly completely in need of reconditioning and the bill came to a whopping $285 as the work had already been performed. I paid the money and took my head knowing that I had been scammed. Northwest Cylinder Heads sells completely rebuilt cylinder heads with cam on eBay for $209.00, $30 of which you get back when you send the core. Northwest Cylinder Heads was my first inclination, but I had previously heard such good things about Kenyon and wanted to keep the business local. Lesson learned. I guess they really saw me coming.
Went to see Greg @ Kenyon machine and experienced old school knowledge and professionalism that is hard to find these days! These guys can fix or build anything! I have been a ASE Master technician for 24 years and they really impressed me!Oh yea(dont worry about the guy who talks short to you, that is just his personality), he is super knowledgeable and friendly!!
Kenyon Machine came highly recommended to us and I cant say enough good things about these guys! After diagnosing the terminal issues with our original 170 V6 they installed a new / rebuilt Ford 200 V6 engine in my daughters first car, a 1963 Ford Falcon Futura, as well as a brand new Ron Francis wiring kit from front to rear.Greg was straight shooting from the beginning letting us know exactly what was going on and what we could expect and encouraged us to stop by whenever we wanted to check on the progress (which we gladly did quite often!)They got into her quicker than expected and were within a week of what we were hoping for as far as completion. Their care and understanding of the service they provide is outstanding and better than we ever imagined when this project started. Their shop has everything and all work was done in-house. After just 5 minutes of meeting Greg we knew we were in the right place. Their knowledge and 45 years of experience is worth its weight in gold and cannot be replaced or duplicated anywhere.Their concern and compassion for my daughters safety was always first and foremost and something that I sincerely appreciated. My daughter and I both learned so much as the project progressed. Greg and the staff were always extremely courteous and took the time to explain what had been done and what still needed to be done and why.Ginny runs better than new and we couldnt be more pleased! I rarely recommend a business unless I am totally convinced that they will provide the exact same service that I received and Kenyon Machine is at the top of a very short list.Cant thank Greg, Dennis and everyone enough at Kenyon Machine who worked on Ginny and for doing such a superior job.If you are looking for the most knowledgeable experienced machine shop in San Diego that delivers quality work and service at a more than reasonable price than look no further than Kenyon Machine.Tell them Evan and Hannah sent ya! I GUARANTEE you wont be disappointed!
Very honest and knowledgeable. I brought in a pair of SBC cast iron heads for a full 3 angle grind valve job. Called back a few days later to check on the status. They did a full check and found there was nothing wrong with the heads and just needed a full cleaning. Long story short they could have charged me $165.00 plus the price of new valve seals, instead they just charged me $40.00 for the full cleaning. If I ever need any other machine work or a motor rebuild kenyon will be my first choice.
Kenyon does a Great Job ! They are very knowledgeable and honest. This the only shop I use for machine work.
Without a doubt the best shop i have visited
