Old-school shop with a couple of craftsmen who know what they are doing.Took my flute in for a leaky key. Communicated with them in advance about the issue and to schedule the visit (covid procedure). He said maybe he could fix it while I waited or, if I needed to leave it, it could that several days due to jobs ahead of mine.I brought it in, very unassuming shop, Franco took it to the back, then came out a few minutes later with it fixed. Just a loose screw. Suggested I test it to verify. It was fixed. He didnt even charge me! I hope to pay him for a full tune-up in a few months. Super nice guy. And competent. Great combination!
Recently got my flute serviced here since I purchased it here originally. Its been several years and what a major difference it made in how my instrument plays!! The guys here did such an awesome thorough job. Very happy with what they do.
Great people, super helpful and they go out their way to get your instrument back up to playing quality.
I have been a professional musician for 50 years. 25 of those years (at least) I have gone to The Windsmith for repairs to my instruments. I am a bass trombone player, so I have worked with Jim there for the whole time. Not only does he do an excellent job, He thinks ahead to what musician’s needs are for their instrument to work on the next job.Always done extremely expertly and professionally and I am very satisfied with how he took extra care with my instrument. This last time, June 2021, he not only repaired the damage I have done to my bass trombone from knocking it off the trombone stand. He also figured out how to repair some other things which I have been thinking about.Jim is the best brass instrument repair person in SD right now. I have heard similar things about Franco (the other technician at WS) with his work on woodwind instruments.
Jim is great
Great fast service. They explained excalty what they were going to do to my flute. They had it finish in the time told to me. No surprises and no damage to box. The price matched the detailed work needed. I will be back.
Great sheet music.
Very helpful. Outstanding pricing for fixing my nephews trumpet. Quality work
Quick response when request info
Wouldn’t go any where else!
Very professional!
Very capable instrument repair place for the basics. School instruments, hobbyists and professionals needing simple fixes will do well here. Everyone seems to have a passion for music and helping you any which way.
Very knowledgeable and professional gentleman helped me and answered all my questions. Even helped me fixed a minor issue on my sax free of charge.
Personable service. Competent repair work. Quicker turnaround than chain music stores. I wouldnt hesitate to use again.
Awesome service and amazing people! They did an outstanding job on my saxophones!! :,)
I heard this is a great repair shop for wind instruments from my saxophone teacher.. I dont know firsthand yet, I did talk with the owner and he seems nice and friendly!
Jim brought my Bach Trombone back from the dead. He had to take apart the slide to do so, but it glides like a new trombone. He knocked out a few dents as well. All for $130. Great Deal! Great Service!
Jim repaired some really tricky dents in the bell of my Adams A4 Shepards crook Trumpet. I was really impressed with his work, he did a brilliant job at a more than reasonable price and all while I waited. I could not be more pleased.
The Windsmiths are one of the most honest instrument repair people I know. We came in with a piccolo which we suspected we had a leak, another shop would have probably agreed with us taken our money to fix it. These guys assessed the situation and simply informed us the pads just needed to be broken in, a few weeks later, problem solved.Great guys.
Outstanding repair work done quickly and for minimal cost. Ive taken two instruments to them for repair from the Imperial Valley Symphony (two different clarinets on three occasions). I was VERY pleased with the results. All of the woodwind teachers here use them.
Went in today around 1:30 in the afternoon. I had a cornet that needed a solder job. This beaing the day that he closes earley he said he would try to get it done today. Within an hour he called and said it was ready. He did a great job at a great price. I will be on my way to Indiana Monday. Thanks Windsmith.
Excellent work at friendly prices for your brass and woodwind instruments. Their care and attention to detail is outstanding. Highly recommended.
I brought in a trombone with a sticky slide. Jim had it done the next day. Quality work, fast service at a very reasonable price.
Very fair prices, good work. Have had my daughters flute fixed here twice. Just call before you come because the guy who does the repairs usually leaves for lunch around noon.
I went here because my local repair shop told me that I would need an overhaul which costs at least 1k. I went to Windsmith instead and only paid $130 for everything I needed plus some minor adjustments. Highly Recommended for anyone of any budget
The best possible Flute repair in San Diego. I have a Mio. And a Pearl Piccolo, NO ONE TOUCHES MY HORNS EXCEPT THE WINDSMITH. Professional and courteous. He is busy, but rest assured it is done properly the first time.
They are totally professional~~!! I highly recommend it~~!! the flute didnt work abou D and #E. So I went to B which is so huge and has rental services as well in Black Mountain and they said it would take 30 days to repair it(because they already have a lot of instruments which need repairing) and I should pay around 2 more times + 1month rental fee~~!!!But here I just paid 20 dollars and it took 15mims. He saved my time and money~~!!! How awesome~~~!!!
